You are a "10" out of 10 because you talked and showed us how to do this wonderful craft. In addition, you gave us alternatives and really helpful suggestions. Thank you so very much.
Hi just got done making my 1st one... Boy is my thumb sore ..lol ... didn't mention that part. now 5 more.. thanks .. great video, easy instructions. Now on to bow . ??? my ornament around the middle looks so bulky.. and did put the strip over it.. it does look right .. guess maybe wider ribbon.
Absolutely the best directions I have found for this ornament. THANKS! I think I would like to use 3 prints so would I simply do the last layer in the third print?
I have made 9 of these now for our church bazaar and find that they are addictive! I have found that when I measure the 3/8 inch, for example, I put a pin with a colored ball on all 4 pieces first, and then remove those pins one by one when I pin in my triangles. It looks more even now. 😊
Could you please show how to put a hanger on this so it can be hung on a Christmas tree. Thank you so much! I love your work and you are such a great teacher. Explaining everything so clearly and what possible mistakes could be made.
I have seen this project before but I like the way you line up everything and the precision of the drawing the lines! I am going to try your way today!
Great instructions.... easy to follow process and very detailed expiation.... I am hooked!.... going to undo the first I did to re do it with your instruction....
You could do the first fold ahead of time, but it won't save you a lot of time. Most of the time, we don't iron our folds, but it won't change the overall look if you decide to do that.
Hello, I am really into making these ornaments! Thank you so much for your videos. In the previous video you mentioned that you recommend a place to buy the pins by the lb. I can't seem to find that. Can you help me out? I'm into my second 1/2 lb. box so I'm gonna need a better deal.
Thank you to share that very good instructions and so lovely ornament ! Only one question, to what dimensions should we cut the small rectangles of fabric ?
Hi Dominique... the rectangles are 2x3". And I actually cover all of the supplies in much better detail in part 1 of this series, right here: ua-cam.com/video/5RYjeVPJx1E/v-deo.html - You might find that helpful too!
@@TheOrnamentGirloh sorry for the first time I did not pay attention that you had made a first video with all the explanations ... I was a little head in the air ! thanks again !
@@TheOrnamentGirl would the fold process still be the same? I know you fold yours differently with the rectangles than the other style that does squares.
Wow. You make pushing those pins in look as though you're pushing pins into cotton. I had to dig out my super heavy duty thimble to push pins in and I've probably bent over 40 pins and I've only completed one half the ornament.
Lisa it sounds like you have a very high density foam (like the brand “Smoothfoam’). Those are super hard to push pins into! The foam I use is very soft and it’s much easier. I hope that helps.
You can probably use the same size pieces. If you get to the end and you find that there is still a bit of foam showing, you can also add an extra layer of fabric. I hope that helps!
Susan, you can absolutely do that. Here's an example of one I did where the band was in a different fabric that the outer later (it did still coordinate, but it was different): theornamentgirl.com/blog/my-ornaments/the-april-2017-ornament-kit/
If you are using The Ornament Girl folding method, you can still definitely use 2.5" squares, but you may find that you need to fold the top edge down a little bit more. This size isn't going to give you the same coverage as 2" x 3" rectangles, so you might also have better luck on a smaller ball.
1/4 yard of each color you are working with will give you enough fabric for at least one ornament. If you change up the order of the colors, you can probably get more than one. I hope you'll give them a try! They are so much fun!
So 3/8 of an inch is 0,375 inch (??? that's already special) but then it is 0,95 cm pfff , pure madness ! But super tutorial, I have done quilted baubles before but this one is really cool ! Thanks !
Instead of cutting the fabric away, why not make the 3rd and 4th rows of fabric smaller? I think then you should also have much more fabric for other ornaments.
I love making these. I have made thousands of these and still love doing them. I made dog themed ones for our dog rescue group fundraiser. ❤

I'm so glad you were able to make your ornament! A thimble will help with those sore fingers.
I must try this method because it does look much easier than the folding diamond shape I’ve just done. Thanks for sharing.
I'm new to making these, love them.

Yes! You can change up the colors in any way you like. It makes your combinations endless!

Love making them so. Much fun mixing colors.

Hi how are you doing?

I have another video that will walk you through adding the bow and hanger. You can find it here: ua-cam.com/video/2v2x6GIl-bE/v-deo.html

Just rewatched as it wasn't working right I was folding right to left, will try again tomorrow
Thank you for the wonderful tutorial!
Great job on the tutorial. I love making these
Hi how are you doing?
Love the tan your showing on your hands.
Would folding the fabric before assembly still give the same outcome? I was thinking folding and pressing them assemble.
You could do the first fold ahead of time, but it won't save you a lot of time. Most of the time, we don't iron our folds, but it won't change the overall look if you decide to do that.
Appliqué scissors might work better for trimming?

Nice tutorial, thank you!
I have seen some of these done with a 2 1/2" square piece of fabric (jelly role). Will this make a difference for your patterns?
Hi Sandra... you could definitely use the 2-1/2" squares with many of the patterns, including this one.
@@TheOrnamentGirl would the fold process still be the same? I know you fold yours differently with the rectangles than the other style that does squares.

Part 1

How come on one side of that star
I have 9cm foam balls, what size fabric should I use?

Any thoughts on using a piece of fabric around the middle that does not match the last fabric put on?

@@TheOrnamentGirl hello how big are the pieces of fabric that your use for this project ,thanks

We use 2x3" rectangles of fabric.
How much fabric to do you need of each fabric to make one.

I’m still having a hard time making my lines straight.
When the fabric corners overlap, can I use the old pin to hold both corners down? Reduces the number of pins needed.
How long does it take when you are not making the video??
1 hr.
I think I've watched this ½ like 10 times.....I have the ball....I'm nervous 😓 😬
I hope you'll give it a try! We're always happy to help too.

i like to use hot glue instead of pins
