    Last Christmas I made these for family members using clean old shirts and ties of my husband. He passed in August 2022. Family members were overjoyed to have them for the holiday and remember him during the holidays. Some of the ties had metallic thread which helped to make the ornaments look more festive for the holiday,

      That is a great idea to reuse clothing! We are sorry to hear about his passing. He probably appreciates you doing this for him!❤️ Great that your family enjoyed them. I bet with the metallic thread they were gorgeous! Thanks for your comment! - Abby

      I made them from my dad’s shirts last year. He died in 2019. I have used them to make a different ornament each year.

    I made about 100 of these from construction paper at about 12 ins. at school one year to decorate for the Christmas program. Had a bunch of 5th grade girls helping me. We had a blast. Can't wait to make some from fabric. Only a more reasonable size.

    An often overlooked hanger for crafted ornaments is lightweight fishing line. Just thread through a needle with a large enough eye and punch through fabric and you have an invisible hanger that helps to make your ornament look like it is floating.

    This was a lot of fun to make. I did have a bit of confusion as to how to turn the points to glue them, so I researched it and noticed a sort of flip so that the opposite top side makes the point. Whew! Then I made one to figure out how the colors mix, it is very tricky. Probably most people would notice that little flip and turn, but it for some reason was not natural to me 🌝. Really fun video and I have a really pretty tree topper as I made it in a 12 inch size, and a smaller one at 6 inches.

    I made one of these for an ornament exchange at work and one for a great friend at work. They turned out great. After Christmas day, but while my tree was still up I made some for myself. I also cut some squares down to 5in. Took me a few minutes to do the math for the strips and actually ended up with an extra strip. Live the smaller size. I Love Your Tutorials.

    A while ago you adapted a Christmas star usually made of paper into a fabric star using this technique. I took your idea and two years ago I did these snowflakes/stars exactly like this!! They are still intact and looking great. I decorated some of them with beads and rhinestones. Gave many away as package toppers to be used later as ornaments!! I was wondering why you didn't have a video like this. Thanks for this idea to adapt paper crafts to fabric using heat and bond. I will do some Scandinavian hearts next.

    • @ShabbyFabrics
      @ShabbyFabrics  6 років тому

      So good to hear that they're still in tact two years later! They really do last when made this way! We also love the idea to use these as package toppers! Thanks so much for watching. We'd love to hear how your projects go. Replicating paper crafts with fabric is actually pretty simple and is so much fun! So glad we could inspire you. - Morgan

    Thank you , you are NOT over wordy in explanation . This type of ornament lets tree lights shine through. Too often with solid ornaments, they create black areas when only tree lights ,is the only lights on. Looks fun. easy , Will have to see if the backing is available incase we have a rail road strike, and nothing comes for some time, or Prices will go up even MORE. I have seen fabric ribbon in stores, but usually gets not sold. Would the fabric Ribbon work just as well?
