1980s parent: stop listening to that satanic music!
2010s parent: here, listen to this satanic music!
one of my proudest moments as a parent was when my kid (16) came down from upstairs and told me to turn down my Satan music.
Calling satanic to music who talks of things that matters and no one care, it's too cinic when people search for help and no one listen, are ignoring or don't try to understand the other part.
we need to teach to the kids what music is
Lol
This isn't satanic music it's just a big parody, Ghost they are not satanics they just use the satanism like props.
I forgot to mention when I commented on the other video you did solo on Cirice. When they perform it live, Tobias will pick a female out of the audience during the "Have you seen that your lost....." section just before the solo, bend down on a knee, take their hand and sing directly to them. It is called "Getting Ciriced".
Niiiiiice!!!! I''ll have to look for that.
Cool! Would like to see that!
I've seen them live 5 times and never saw that happen.
john muse he definitely did it a lot on this last tour cycle, however it does need to be in a place where the crowd is close enough. He can’t really do it at festivals or arenas. Just watch some of the live fan shot video from A Pale Tour Named Death or Rats on the Road tours. The ghost Reddit channel also had people reporting in who it happened to. That is where I heard the term “Ciriced”.
What? Shut up. Really
You're daughter might not appreciate all this just now but when she gets older she will thank you for introducing her to great music. Same thing happened with my dad and me, I listened and was like its 'okay I suppose' then later on I raided his music collection.
I was a teen when Offspring released Smash. I was hooked. Bought that and Americana. I playd them during long roadtrips with my family. My ringtone was Pretty Fly. Years later my daughter heard that again in spotify and was like "hey I know this one". She is now a bigger fan of Offspring than I ever was. It does matter what you here as a child.
Do Dance Macabre with her, it's more pop-ish
I'll look into that one. You're the 2nd to suggest that in just a few minutes. Thanks for the note.
@@GlitchintheMatrixMultiMedia In fact... Dance Macabre is very mainstream friendly so your daughter would apreciate that little bit more I guess. :)
@@GlitchintheMatrixMultiMedia Definitely Dance Macabre. It has more of a pop/disco feel to it and if she likes Depeche mode and that kind of stuff she'll probably like that one too.
@@GlitchintheMatrixMultiMedia i agree, you should do the official music video for Dance Macabre, it's one of my favorites and i love the creepy guy at the beginning 😂😂
Great Track!
I’ve discovered Ghost January this year and I’ve been playing their music almost every day. My three year old daughter loves “Dance Macabre”, she sings the part “I wanna bewitch you, all night” and the song “Rats” she calls, “the man with the Umbrella”. She might be the youngest Ghost fan. ☺️
3 oh those arent the lyrics for her! lol
my 1 year old loves them! 🥰
@@krystalharwood6359 bullshit 🤣 ghost's music is for anyone who enjoys
"Would you introduce your friends to this?"
"No."
"Why?"
"They don't like good music.... just the modern stuff pop culture tells them they're supposed to like."
OK Boomer
That is such a good answer omg
Bruv let people like what they like, I don’t care if you’re literally listening to ten hours of a rubber chicken if that’s what you like, cool
Acting like Ghost is underground. Lol.
Thanks rock is dead
Ghost represents everyone left behind from Christianity, he doesn’t portray the devil as a person but as an idea…. He did interviews to explain this…. Love how you speak to your daughter, you treat as a person and let her decide…. Great watching both of you !!!
Great job Dad! I'm a 48 year old dude, in which music has been a HUGE part of my life. 600 concerts later, I never thought a band, a new band could take over my life like Ghost. Tobias is off the charts creative and talented. Seriously fun live too :)
While I haven't been to 600 shows... music has always been a huge part of my life also but somehow I did not know who Ghost was. Until about 2 years ago when my daughter played Square Hammer for me... and now I'm completely obsessed with them too! My daughter and I have tickets to see them for the first time in January and we are SO excited. 😁😁😁
She got serious in the “i can see through the scars inside you”, I would say she identified with it!! Lovely
F M your not supposed to point it out. Ha
Why not?
do ghost dance macabre with your daughter watching the official video
Haven't seen that one yet, I'll have to check it out too, thanks for the note.
Yes!!!
@@maculka999 its one of my favorites and life eternal
All girs like Dance Macabre 👍🤘
Agreed
Parents need to show their kids all kinds of music.
It expands the mind.
This video is straight out of 70's Italian horror.
Not enough gore.
I always thought it was referencing the 80s Italian horror movie demons with a little bit of carrie mixed in there.
If she wants a broad playlist, show her "Dance Macabre" and "Kiss The Go-Goat" by Ghost, she would most definitly love them
Kiss The Go-Goat is awesome!
He is, Year Zero, Con Clavi Con Dio ....
Kiss kiss the goat goat
People don't realize you have to do random pauses to protect yourself from copyright issues. Kudos to dad for showing a great variety of music to his daughter! Its the universal language
My top Ghost songs that would make great reactions!
Deus in Absentia
Year Zero
Life Eternal
Secular Haze
Dance Macabre
Faith
Elizabeth
Although honestly, I love ALL of their music.
@the baron Or the elusive Zenith
This is a guy that just absolutely will not let you just watch a movie if he's seen it before.
Best concert I’ve ever been to was a Ghost concert; and I’m a Christian. Their music hits on more levels then most people comprehend....great introduction Dad. Would love to see a response to Year Zero.
She seemed quite interested by the video and your discussion after watching it. I loved the "Would you introduce it to your friends? No!". I can totally see where she's going ahah! Great video.
Appreciate the comment, thanks.
Glad to see another Father and Daughter reaction Channel!!
Great conversation and relationship! ✌
They are incredible live, I've been to 5 shows and can't wait for more.
So cool to spend this time with your daughter and have actual conversations...good job Dad!
Fun fact Ghost is the leadsinger on his own. He makes the hole song by himself like the lyrics and instruments and always performs with different people playing the instruments. Thats why they all wear the same masks.
Early Ghost, specially the first album Opus Epnoymous, was much more metal than their latest stuff, that's why they're considered under the metal folder. Nowadays they've ventured more into the theatrical and pop side of rock. The lead singer, Tobias Forge, is a huge fan of both theatre, classic rock, death metal, ABBA etc. and you can hear a lot of those influences in their music, making them hard to "place" as their songs are of such huge variety, even on one and same album. Personally I prefer the older Ghost and the first two records, but their entire discography is amazing in their own way. Tobias also writes everything, not only the lyrics. He does the guitar riffs, bass lines etc as well. Hugely talented musician and singer.
That map of Iceland in the background just earned you a subscription. 😍 Also, nice video and well done to the young lady. 😁😁
A teen's taste of music is heavily reliant on their peers, i'm sure we can all relate. Once she grads and goes to THAT rock show, i have a feeling that will be the final transformation. Good on you for developing her ear for it.
I don't believe that assessment is fully correct. I was surrounded by country, rap and pop music growing up, but I always gravitated to rock music. Heck there wasn't even a pure rock station on the radio for the area I grew up in.
Also I'm in love with this band. I heard one song and instantly fell in love.
There is no adore button
As a Dad, this caught my attention very much and I had been viewing your reactions befoere .
"That's you~!"
LOL
Your reference with Carrie and such rocks :)
I love the pause with the breakdown and explanation of what is going on
is too Dad like.
Personally, I am a non believer however, music is what our congregation is and music.
Your Daughter mirrors you just like mine.
I introduced my little one to Dio and the likes at a very young age.
To this day she know all ranges from Fleetwood Mac to Deicide. NCT to Selena. Vicente Fernandez to Lords of Acid :)
Great job fellow Dad ~!
the lines "I can feel the thunder that's breaking in your heart,
I can see through the scars inside you" is actually just the devil saying he knows what you are going through, or understands you
I will be forever grateful to this channel for introducing me to Ghost...rock on! 🎸
"I don't really talk to my friends....."
Yeah, so does Carice.
I love this video!! My daughter (almost 5 years old) is a Ghost fan, and we enjoy their music together too.
Regards from Chile!! lml
Thanks for the video.
Greetings from Colombia.
It is very interesting to know how other young people like me react to this complex band in their messages
I remember when I was 14 I had an eclectic taste in music. I was coming out of my metal phase and moving back into rap. Tupac was just coming up and all the West Coast rap was getting big by now. I am glad I listened to different genres through different eras in my life. I still change up genres of todays music as well as the past, can't stop enjoying all different music. I think it helped me be more open to different views, I hope to pass it on to my children. That being said, good for you to pass different styles of music on to your daughter, I think it is a small and simple thing to do that has a huge impact on us psychologically.
This is the first time I have seen her smile, she has a beautiful smile. :D
They mix major and minor scale sounds together. That makes it sound so „spooky“ and special. From Pinnacle to the pit is my favourite (this is the first video I see from you on ghost).
Ghost! :D I'm glad she liked it ^^
Ghost actually changes "lead singers" each album. A new character is created to sing, creating eras. This video is from Era 3, but the outfits are from Era 2, we're currently in Era 4 with Cardinal Copia. The Nameless Ghouls also have new outfits now.
Only found your channel the other day and think the time you spend with your kids now when in early teens is really special and I do miss those days. I was in the Army until my daughter turned 13 so we missed a lot of years together, so Enjoy the coming years. Now, when mine turned 18 I hardly saw her as she was out with friends all the time, now she is 26, I am lucky if I get a phone call twice a month lol.
You mentioned the "Carrie" remake. It struck me your daughter looks (to me) a lot like Chloe Moretz, the actress who played Carrie!
Me and my 13 year old bond over Ghost 2. We have seen them live twice together. Great band. Love them
The Ghost chapters sort of explain the lore but you should watch Rats next.
I did Rats today by myself, I'll circle back to more with my daughter hopefully soon.
As some other guys said. Dance Macabre is amazing, the official video is quite raw.
I'd love to see you check out "He is", "Life eternal", "Year Zero" or "Bible".
Year zero was the song that actually defined the band as a hardcore satanic band :D
Great video man. Her comments about teenagers and music made me laugh, because my daughter is the same. You have to react to their song Faith. It's pretty metal. Anyways, keep killing it man!! Cheers!
WOAH! you stopped at the hook!
Thats messed up
Ha!!yeah he fucked up there
I raged.
Stopping a song at all is making me want to punch you. Especially if you then proceed to talk out of your ass over it.
Jesus Christ that pissed me off lol that was the best part of the song.
It almost looked like she was annoyed.
Dad needs to settle down and let songs play out. You don’t need to / shouldn’t explain everything.
One of the best videos ever.
You 2 have such a great relationship. Really healthy. Btw, your daughter is stunningly beautiful. Glad to see an attractive young lady not full of herself and with 40lbs of makeup on! Very natural and down to earth. Good job dad!
You ahould react to a finnish rock band called HIM, buried alive by love would be a great song
wow I haven't heard of them in a while, my mom used to be a huge fan of them when i was young
I love the fact that your daughter has a wide range in music. I hope her friends look up the bands she listens to!!
Never heard of them before. Interesting sound and I have to check out more.
Nice😎. You should challenge her in a: try not to laugh challenge😊. I know there are lot out there..but had been intresting to see who off you would break first🤔😊
Lol
Cirice was my intro to Ghost, too. Fantastic choice to use as her intro
"I think he recently changed (his outfit)" -- Tobias Forge changes his character each album. Cardinal Copia is the current one
Do you have roots/ancestors from iceland? Was thinking of the painting of iceland hanging in the background 😊
Ghost!
I love ghost with their tongue and cheek humor.
That's emphasized in their stage performances.
More Ghost
Dance Macabre
They're amazing live.
The riff of this song is just so tight and cool. If I play this song in my car quite loudly...wow...just awesome :)
I remember hearing Ghost the first time and going "parents are going to lose their minds when they realize what their kids are listening to". Any adult being the introduction for their kids to Ghost gets a huge high five, well done sir. *e* And encouraging her to spread the message, excellent. For the real "metal" side of them, check out Ritual if you haven't.
Nice video man!
I've seen them live and they played a lot heavier music about 3 years ago. There were 4 bands and they were first, I had never heard of them at the time. Chevelle and Shinedown followed with Disturbed headlining
Little Papa is adorable in his garb lol, his parents were the best giving their kid a standing ovation.
When you pointed at the "half asleep, not very enthusiastic girl: Hey,thats you!" And Annie started laughing,it made my day!😍💞🤣 I love that she has "self irony humor",eventhough i never had trouble with her not getting too hyper over most of the music she has reacted to. She is very open here though, wich means she has a good day, doesnt feel too tired etc. I love it! Shes adorable! When i hear Ghost (and i have to admit,i have not heard about them before you started getting requests) i get a feeling of hearing Dokken-Dream Warriors and typical 80s Rock. Theyr guitar riffs, drums etc does not have that metal sound to me. Melodic Rock more like it.
In the 80's it was called Heavy Metal, but today it's called "Melodic Rock." I've even heard somebody call Black Sabbath a Blues band, and they're the ones who created Heavy Metal! So yeah, Ghost ARE Heavy Metal, just not EXTREME Heavy Metal.
Depends wich part of the world you come from i think. Here bands sounding overall softer then f.ex Iron Maiden and alikes, has allways had the "Rock or Melodic Stamp" on them, while Iron Maiden etc up till this day still is considered "Heavy Rock". But i hear some Americans calling Mötley Crue,Def Leppard etc "Metal",and that sounds abit odd to me. Because they never have thoose hard hitting drums, extremely fast and/or heavy guitar riffs etc. I can still relate though, the mono sound they had way back in the 60s,70s and 80s especially. Its easier to sound "lighter" then you wouldve sounded like,if you recorded songs today with the same talent they had back then. So i can make exceptions for bands too,i can hear the "metal influence" in theyr playing, and vocal style. Still, its fairly easy to separate Rock from Metal. Maybe its because its such a huge culture here. I mean,we first became world known for producing tons of Death/Black Metal bands. Maybe we got more specific "rules" for Metal,i dont know. What matters is,if its good or not!😉
Dad: blablablablablabla...rumbling on for minutes.....trying to explain Ghost to her
Daughter: I liked the song. It seemed kind of mellow, but not. :D Thank you, girl, you just described Ghost better than anybody :)
Ghost definitely do try to emulate an older metal sound so I can see your daughter's point about "old style". Those of us who have been metal heads for years can hear a difference between e.g. early Sabbath or Dio or that sort of thing, but it owes enough to those pioneers that people who don't generally listen to metal could easily mistake them for being a much older band.
I thought your take on Rats was pretty interesting. I took it much more as a critique on the church, specifically the Roman Church, coming early for your soul with threats of damnation if you turn away.
I do think you're maybe leading a bit much and giving too much away about the songs which could colour your daughter's opinion of the music, maybe let her come in a bit colder to it to get a pure reaction, or listen to something together neither of you have heard to avoid that. Or if you're feeling brave listen to something she recommended ;)
well, i found this online:
Papa Emeritus III told Diablo Rock:
Initially, this song was thought of as a complete dome theme, with an even longer intro-“Devil Church.” As we already had other songs that had these great refrains we thought about leaving long choruses out. But in a coffee break, the chorus appeared out of nowhere and we put aside our dome theme without chorus and ended with a heavy power ballad.
Lyrically, it is a simulation of the relationship between religious authority (church or sect) against the small person who can not differentiate empathy from pure manipulation. Everything disguised as a love song.
Love this. Thank you for that!
I like how you're showing your daughter Ghost, mentioned the Carrie reference (which I've never seen and knew nothing about) .. And earlier today was watching the video for From the Pinnacle to the Pit, and then happened to notice your hoodie.. anyone else seeing the parallels here? Nice dude.. nice. ^_^
Okay now I feel stupid as shit because I didn't look at your channel name until way after the fact. Here's the part where I slowly pat myself on the back, rewind time, and take the blue pill instead. Derp :'^)))))
Oh AND Wasn't looking during your intro sequence either. TRIPLE SCORE!!!
The band can't be confined to one genre. They mixed heavy metal, progressi progressive metal, doom metal and classic hard rock with even more diverse influences into a very unique style
He Is, the videoclip is perfect!
love how the Dad's loving it whilst the Daughter is just chillingXD
I gave my son the collection of my cd's and just let him sample without pressure. He came out with a few bands he loves. He's 8 and fell head over heels for linkin park, slipknot, skillet and a lesser known band Submersed. My other son hates rock\metal but he will always request Gabrielle by Cradle of Filth.
One of the catchiest guitar riffs I have ever heard
Awesome video and the reason I like them is they seem sound like the soundtrack to a universal monster movie
I like the smile the dad gave when the music started, like you'll see what's coming.
I really liked this song...so it was cool that she dug it to!
Everyone needs to have a reaction video of Meshuggah - 'Clockworks' or 'Bleed'. At the Gates (anything from the album Slaughter of the soul). Opeth - Blackwater park.
What is that movie or video clip that you mentioned, and there's a remake of?
I love your wooden Iceland thing on the wall, im icelandic and its always nice to see other countries have my island on their wall
Im new to Ghost.......now i cant get enough. Excellent.
Ghost did a cover one of Beatles songs early in the band's career
Ghost is very unique. One of the few newish rock bands that actually stand out these days.
My Daughter is 8. She loves Ghost as do I and her father. We're a Ghost family
Parenting at its best
Katje no one gives a fuck
You def gotta do more with ghost they are such an interesting band
Your daughter is super cool. I am a father of 2 boys (younger than your daughter), I wish to have a cool close relationship with them now and also when they are in their teens.
Inspirational!
Also, Ghost are great!!
Gotta do, Dance macabre and Miasma.
Miasma is an incredible instrumental you must hear! 👍🏻
I love how the video has a 70’s horror movie vibe to it. I’m not sure if the woman in black is Cirice’s mom, but she reminds me of Shelley Duvall.
It's way too early to call this song timeless, but it's timeless. We'll be playing this to our grandkids.
such a great song!!!!
I wasn't a big fan until I just heard this, it was so good.
I'd agree that they're definitely metal, but more soft metal or classic metal. Mixed with elements of soft rock, alternative rock, horror rock, doom metal, pop rock, and medieval/chorus instrumentals.
I LOVED their cover of the song by Roky Erickson - If You Have Ghost's. I loved the Studio Version.
I seen ghost live last month they were really good live
Geniiuss!! genius!! Ghost exelent band 👍😎🎸🎶🎵🎼
love the iceland representation in the back! :)
I love this because most parents wouldn’t introduce their children to this because of the “satanic” aspect of this sort of music
Also if you guys ever get the chance to see ghost live you should definitely do it, they put on an amazing show!
Didn't Tobias say himself that he heard his own daughter listening to it due to tik tok?
Ive listened to ghost for several years and my 10 Yr old got into them through tiktok and loves bands such as Nightwish, sabaton, rammstein, insane clown posse and die antwoord, alongside tay tay and other modern pop. I love her eclectic taste.
This is your fault I fell in love with Ghost. The best. One of a kind without a doubt. Thank you
Tobias plays several characters over the course of Ghost's tenure. Originally he was Papa Emeritus I . Then he played his "Brother" Papa Emeritus II. This one in this video is Papa Emeritus III. All three of them are the Sons of the Original Papa, Papa Nihil. (SP) They all have been removed from the lead of the band (And killed) The current frontman of Ghost is Cardinal Copia. A very promising Cardinal who's been an Employee of the month twice (This is actually part of the ongoing story) Papa Nihil isn't too pleased since all the Papa's that have ever fronted the band have been from his blood line. His father was Papa, His Father's Father, His Father's Father's Father.... (This too is also from storyline)
Tobias Forge has played all of them. It's a great bit of storytelling. (you can catchup on all the story on the Band's UA-cam.)
13:45 "into mainstream stuff" i get it. My sister is seventeen and used to be into 5sos and 1D when they were popular, but then i slowly reeled her in starting with 'Staind'. Now she loves Iced Earth.
The intro feels like a homage to Slayer, especially "South Of Heaven".
In places it is pop through a metal filter. Perhaps Rainbow did it in the 80's and some of the hair-metal bands. Melodic, lot of hooks but enough spike to differ it from pure guitar pop.
i used to like rap, dubstep and techno and that was 6 years ago, now i moved on to the dark side with metal and rock, Ive never felt happier since, Ghost is litterally a favorite band of mine and I would recommend you show this to your friends otherwise Im telling Tobias Forge.
Lmao. “That would be me and your mom” lol the cool supportive parents.
I would categorise them as similar to bands such as Blue Oyster Cult
Are they good? What genre do they play? What are their songs about?
@@HeadBlasted who? Blue Oyster Cult are a band that started in the 60s but more famous in the 60s and 70s. They do hard rock with themes more similar to metal with a more mainstream pop rock edge to the sound and a lot of progressive and psychedelic influences. They most famously did the song Don't Fear The Reaper.
@@luke_bongoman89 I agree! Great band! 🖤
It's hard rock.
@@llaeeZ No, it's not.
Dance Macabre for sure! Also, check out “Sweet True Lies,” by Beast in Black. The band is like Judas Priest, Europe, and Bon Jovi mixed. Seriously, it is WELL worth your time!!!
