Keep in mind it’s not always the rotor. If you’re constantly in an out of the shop your hub could be causing the runout of the rotor. It’ll be fine for the first 5-10k miles and after that they’re warped again; even if you’re not too heavy on the brakes. This can be fixed by either resurfacing the rotors with an on car lathe(Not a lot of people agree with it but there’s literally nothing wrong with it) or replacing the damaged hub. Not slot of mechanics actually measure runout when they install rotors though so good luck.
If the steering wheel shakes it’s the fronts, if you feel it real bad in the pedal it’s the rears. Had to replace 4 sets of rotors when I got my bimmer because I kept cooking them too hot and warping them.switched to drilled rotors and haven’t had an issues with the rotors warping.

And drilled were only like 150/per. At the end of the day I just drive the car very aggressively. Remember I was 18 driving a manual bimmer so I USED the brakes. But hey I took it as a learning experience and know more because of it while becoming more hands on with my cars. Mock me all you want but your just making fun of someone who was a novice at the time.

Not really it’s the difference between a pad slap with Autozone brake pads or a full brake job with oem parts and resurfacing the rotors or getting new ones if needed, and a brake fluid exchange
Forget the $200, but do it right! Esoteric coated rotors, new pads with shims with new SS hardware, & new pins and rubbers. Clean pin holes, use right silicon paste, assemble correctly. Put squeakers on bottom inside. Bleed brakes if necessary. If over 100,000 miles and not done, change all brake fluid. Thanks…Jim

I have that exact car (4th Gen 4Runner) and had that exact problem. Got new oem rotors and pads, and a caliper rebuild kit, and drives/stops buttery smooth just like a new car. He's right.
If there warped enough to cause a bad shake in the steering wheel you usually don’t want to resurface them because the chance them of them getting warped again soon is slot higher once they’ve already warped, also the more warped they are the more you have to cut off to get them true and you can only cut off so much before reaching the discard thickness
Anyone who doesn't know that shaking while braking probably means rotors are warped, doesn't know the technical difference between a $200 brake job and a $50 brake job
….purge the fluid out of the caliper since it turns acidic and flush your entire brake system. Calipers bind due to pots forming on the calipers due to excess moisture.

What does it mean if it only shakes when specifically accelerating? When I let off gas it goes back to smooth. The engine mounts are only 2 years old....CV axles or inner tie rod? Flex disc or transmission mount?
New rotors, new brakes, new calipers, new inner tie rod and outer tie rod, new upper and lower ball joint and still shakes on a 2003 toyota 4 runner. any reason why?
I’ve always purchased rotors off eBay from a seller I trust and get the pads from autozone so I can warranty them when they’re done and never pay for pads. I do my own work very meticulously and the rotors I get have never failed me or warped. They just wear down as normal

We just use a on car lath Hunter, as long as you have enough material. It's stamped on the rotors. OEM pads. $159.00. Get more jobs. That's the total plus taxes.
Yes, you say my metallic pads don’t use those ceramic junk garbage pads so when they get hot stick and gummy, you can’t stop and people haven’t misinterpreted about semi metallic. It’s copper in the brake pads you get much more stop in power on a dime your brakes stay cooler and it does not eat the rotors. And don’t make a guessing game put a dial indicator on it and see if the rotor is warped you should have no more than 3000s run out on a rotor that is the minimum.
It doesn’t do that when I brake but when I speed up it’s starts to shake, can it be the same problem? Came across this pothole the other day and it almost made a slight dent on my rim
I don’t think that would have to do with your breaks but I’m no mechanic and no expert but my best guess would be something with suspension or your tires my first move would be checking my tires and the air pressure in them
Most likely bent wheel, shifted belt in your tire. If it's a truck u joints can also cause this, but judging by your story, wheel tire related. I can certainly say it is not related to your brakes. 10 year ase mechanic
I'm learning the basics to ensure quality and save money. Brakes, suspension, and whatever can be done without high cost computers. Yes, I book an alignment when doing suspension. It's not even a mile from home. I also re-seat my injectors before they go bad and need special pullers. 20 dollars and 90 minutes beats a 1000 dollars when they are leaking and stuck. Diesel stuff.

Around here most places do a $50 brake job but they all charge $200. I do it myself for peace of mind!
Lucky my mechanic allows me to bring my own part's. So I know what's going on my vehicle
Watch out cause it could be the hub that connects to the wheels too. Put the gauge on that too. Not just the disk.

It’s not always brake related. Sometimes it can be strut related, or possibly other loose or worn out components.

Rotors and mabe calipers. Mine were rotors because my calipers were seized causing heat and warping
Its a glaze buildup never change rotors for that reason just buy a flappy disc and clean the rotors up.

Not always warper rotors. A bad brakeline where it is flapped inside will not relieve pressure when pedal is released.

the rubber lines causes the shaking the rubber brakes down on the inside of the line won't let fluid back thru causes the shakeing
