Perfect man. That’s exactly the problem with my car. Thanks man. UA-cam university and professors like you makes this community the best
Yeah sorry for late reply I was sick but yeah
The only video I found that explains exactly what’s happening… thanks
Yup thank u
I agree!
Thanks for taking the time here. My 05 Tundra has 191k miles on the original rotors. Then the death wobble shows up. Oh well, I've ordered replacements.
I’ll do what you say and I’ll see what happens. Thanks you so much👍👍
Thanks for the information...my car is a 2020 Toyota Camry.....I try my best to apply my brakes early enough and smoothly enough order to try not to wear them out. Very informative.
Yup avoid puddle of water that damaged brakes big time
Excellent video 👌
This is the second time I've come to this channel for advice and I can honestly say I like this guy more than other channels like this.
Thank you bro
Thanks broe much appreciate your video that's what im facing currently with my car 🙏
No problem 👍
Thanks. Good info. I'm replacing all 4 rotors. Plus, new front & rear brake pads. I'm vexed that the dealer I bought my Jeep Cherokee from resurfaced the left front rotor instead of replacing the rotors. They only changed the brake pads.
Yeah rotors r the issue
Great video vato 💯
Very informative thank me bro 🙏🏼
Thank you!!! I changed front rotors and brake pads myself. Everything is good. Rear brakes was in good condition.
Nice!!!
Thanks
Agree 100%.. also it be a good time to check the suspension components while there like wheel bearing, tie rod ends and shocks... As if you have a suspension issue those new rotors won't last..
Yup
Runout leads to thickness variation. Thickness variation leads to pulsation…
runout from damaged hub or wheel bearing?
beautiful video with lot of Good advices....
Thank you my friend always here to help!!
Good video.well explained 👍
You know a real mechanic when you see one - concise and CONFIDENT. Thank you, I thought it's my tie rod in since the rotor looks straight.
Heheh 👍
But I changed all four last year with new brakes. Noticed when I was traveling to Virginia and back to New York that my car was shaking at high speed when a brake . Thanks for the info I’ll let my mechanic check it this week
Yeah they might have warped
Damm and I paid $200 in part’s
Thanks for the info
@@wilfredjaime1130 yeah it happnes may times I changed unwarrantee after few months they get bent usully from hot temp so check to see if pads are Jammed or caliper sliding pins move smoothly there for it dosent occur again
Could be a siezed caliper did you fix the problem??
Ceramic brake pads are notorious for causing hot spots and rotor warping. When you think about it, ceramics don't absorb heat. So, all the heat generated by braking gets transferred directly to the rotor and not shared with the pads. Semi-metallic pads are better for this problem. However, they tend to wear out faster!
Good information then there’s noise part
you should have 2 million likes. well said
Than you!! It will get there
Shakes in the front, replaced the front rotors..gone for 2k miles, then cameback....as you said, rears are now needed, i can see black spots all over them.
Do massive cleaning and check calipers I had issue like that calipers pins were over packed with grease or calipers r bad
Thank you bro I just came from the mechanics he changed all 4 brake pads but only 2 rear rotors , shaking improved a lot but it still shakes when I brake at high speeds, not terribly but still there, I guess I gotta get the 2 front rotors as well even though he said they were good
Yeah check the other 2 also
@@merccomm8715 What are the other causes aside from heat that warps the rotors?
Brakes often dont warp but pulsate due to uneaven pad trasfer. The way to fix it is to rebed to get the brakes nice and hot with several repeated stops then let them cool without coming to a complete stop. Be careful, do this in a safe manner "off road" only.
Yup
Absolutely correct . Stopping from speed, then sitting with your foot on the brakes. The part of the rotor beneath pad stay hot and pad material etches into the metal.
We know the rotors are warped. What causes the warp? Changing the discs may only result in another warped disc if you don’t resolve the issue. I used to cut rotors all day long and was able to true-up slightly warped discs and saved customer a lot of money.
Heat not hood brake job cleaning and greasing would be ideal check my brake jobs
I notice that vibration after replacing brake pads and rotors I did all 4
Ohhh maybe somthing is not cleaned surface or new rotor could be warped double check ur work
At certain point i thought it’s the transmission, thanks god it’s the brake pads and disk
Yup
Do rotors actually warp? Or is it DTV (Disc Thickness Variation)? A couple of local brake shops tell me rotors on passenger cars will never get hot enough to warp. What you showed here on that 2nd rotor looks like brake pad material on the rotor that could easily be cleaned off by resurfacing the rotor. Resurfacing would cost $15-$20 per rotor vs maybe $50-$80 for a new rotor
Rotors get warped from heat and peddle slams
Thanks. Great explanation. Is there anything else that could cause the shaking. I changed my pads about 1,000 miles ago. Can I still use them with the new rotors
I would change them out that way they r fresh and brake in to the rotor anyways watch my other videos I explains how pad should go in smooth and easy no pushing and shoving to prevent this type of vibration for long term life of rotor
@@RBTheMechanic Thanks. too bad I just bought them. Great explanation
Mister RB, I have replaced rotors and pads and I immedietly have same problem after replacement. Personally, would you aim towards replacing calipers next or would you think it maybe be a cv joint?
It could be lot of things it could be bad rotors defect or hub
My exact experience right now
Oh yeah
What about a tick noise and the noise gets faster as the truck picks up speed.
My issue started after running over a big bolt on the freeway
It could be rock stuck on to tire thread yup or bolt
Thanks for the info bro, but is it ok to let it be just like that and continue using without replacing, this question coming from poor people such as me
No you have to fix it replace the brakes and rotors it will not brake well on high speed and it can cause other damages to brake master cylinder
I left the shaking and it caused failure of my steering wheel nylon bushing…$265 repair on top of the brake job I had to do to prevent the steering issue again a year down the road.
Hey how are you doing ? I got a problem with my bmw x5 truck it been shaking when i press the brakes also when i try to accelerate kinda shakes too and struggles to go fast so im thinking would it be the brakes i just went to change them so idk what can it be by the way keep the good work you are a smart man
Did u change brakes only or rotors also?
Had my rear brake pads, rotors, and tires replaced. Still the car vibrates when braking above 40mph. Now what? 2008 Lexus LS460
I have cases where the new rotors were no good. Could be possibility but check all other components like tie rods control arm bushings and do wheel balancing
I replace rotors and break pads the expensive one and still shakes while breaking in the freeway
Which one u replaced?
@@RBTheMechanic the front ones
I have a 05 duramax. Shakes when braking only. But no pulsing in the brake peddle. You still think rotors
I think so!! Could be less of wrap cause shake only no pulsation yet
Well I bought new rotors new calibers and brakes. And driving my Tacoma 2004 in high speed and braking in shakes alot
It can be bad rotors or u didn’t get the roar meet surface clean on the hub check and see
2004 silverado 2500 reg cab 2wd. Have a bad shack only when applying the brakes. I have not shake in steering wheel and no pulsing brake pedal. The slightest pressure on brake pedal makes it shake bad. I feel it more in my seat if that makes any sense. But truck stays straight and again steering wheel doesn't shake at all. PLEASE HELP! Pads seems to help a little but old pads weren't bad at all with even wear.
Shake when braking is warped rotors
I replaced the front breaks pads and rotors and still does the same shaking problems.
Could be rears that r bad also I have had bad rotors and one time did u clean the hub well
@RB The Mechanic
Thanks for replying me back.
I'll do that.
I'm having the same problem with my 2019 Chevrolet 2500 duramax. I can't understand why because it only has 23,000 miles and easy miles with very little towing.
Well redue the brakes and rotors clean out the surface and clean the slider pins bore and give u lubercation on every contact watch my lubercation video
What is I chance the fr rotors and pads and the shake and grinding gets worst? Car 2010 Camaro lt
Brakes are done!!!
Please help brother loved the video I have a 2012 infiniti g37 that shakes at highway speeds and when I break even a tiny bit hard it'll feel like the break or something just want to fall right off or something what could be the problem
Any issues brakes pulsation or shake is due to damaged rotors. So replace ur brake and rotors also if ur shakes high speed no braking that due to wheel off balance do both brakes and wheel balance
@perplexity do you fix the problem I have the same problem.
how about one wheel vibration no pedal pulse , new rotors and new calipers, all new suspension parts ie: new ball joints, tie rods center link, shocks I-beam bushings, radius bushings ? 1992 ford explorer. only on drivers side vibration above 40mph while braking.
Could be possable bad rotor or loose component I have had new rotors that were no good And how did u determine one side ?
@@RBTheMechanic because it feels like if it had struts, the top stut would be loose on drivers side but only while braking, I feel it not in pedal but on floor board. Had it looked at during allignment at a body/frame shop and mechanic said everything is tight with no issues in suspension. Suggested having tires re-balanced however that didn't make any changes. My last thing to look at and change is the brake hose to caliper, thinking it may have separated inside and has some collapse. It is the only thing left to change. the reson I changed the rotors was because it was already doing this before the change of rotors and pads.
New pads are so cheap. 3 tried...and an upgrade, before they worked right is proof they have failed. Brakes work fine, Millennials making them, and the rotors, will be the end of us all.
I have a 2014 Maxima with 77260 miles never changed the rotors they look fone but should i just swap them all put on my next pad change which is next
I would change them here video on maxima but diffrent year should be similar ua-cam.com/video/XG95uqpE_1s/v-deo.html
Is it ok to ride with the rotars like that for a bit? Or will it cause other wear and tear on other car parts
Yeah but change them eventully and keep good amount of distance when going high speed
A mechanic told me it could take out the calipers
I want to know when you change the rooters you should have to change brake pad also or that’s up to you
Change the brake pads as well to make the best out of the rotors
@@RBTheMechanic can the brake pads be sanded/filed flat if they are barely used?
I got all four rotors and pads replaced but pulsating decrease but wheel steel shaking should i still get front new ones replaced? I was told to replaced one in the back because it look blue and possibly warped.
U said u got all 4
Replaced? Then why do again?
Check wheel alignment. Could be bad wheel bearings in front too
Good information 👍👍
Yup!!
I changed all my brake pads and rotors, and immediately developed a pulse/shake. What could I have done wrong to cause this?
Did u clean the surface of rotors where they sit on hub? Watch one of my videos I explain it in detail clean everything and make sure rotors sit flush also it could be bad rotors defective. Anways here is a video ua-cam.com/video/ry_nRg_9qrE/v-deo.htmlsi=yu-K9jrcGAH288V4
@@RBTheMechanic Thank you for responding. I cleaned and wiped down the new rotors with brake clean. I hadn't sanded down the hubs since I live in Las Vegas and the rust was minimal, but I've been going back and sanding them down hoping that's the problem. Now I'm going to watch your linked video.
Damn dr suese is getting it one her one there one everywhere lmao
I changed my rotors and pads less about a year ago..The shake is back. I have only driven only 4k/5k miles since then. What could be the issue?
Need to redue the brakes and clean lubricant and do the job like pro watch all of my videos on brakes and lubricant u will understand
@@RBTheMechanic Thanks for your reply! I have one more question. Can improper brake fluid circulation also cause this kind of shaking issue? TIA
@@user-my3po8vg6u well your rotors r damaged so not the fluid but hydraulic lock up can cause rotor to over heat but that’s rare just do ur flush for brake fluid and do best job when doing brakes use good parts any retainer clips hardware use it clean the area very well and use greasing I have video on greasing
My Toyota sienna shakes really bad when going on a steep downhill mountain. It only happens downhill when it’s steep and I’m slowing down at a high speed. Could this be the same issue, the rotors?
Could be possable rear are issues for to down hill force anyways go highway high speed and press brake to c firm
Thanks for your help!
@@DebbieBratton welcome glad to help
I had that problem. Took it to mechanic. He supposedly resurfaced the front rotors. Then after 3 days it started shaking again. Could it be a bad tire? Thanks
Ok he opened can of worms never cut rotors it either will go good or bad so ur back to square one replace the rotors
@@RBTheMechanic Yeah, mine did the same thing, I think he was trying to get out of having to install my rotors.
I change the front brake disc and the pads front and back but still the steering wheel shaking! Another idea?
Just send u message on the other msg u sent me
Did you figure it out ?
@@perplexity830 i went in a brake shop and use thw brake dick lathe. All great now!
@@anabash82 What did you use?
@@TuscanWonderlmaooo he used the brake dick is what he is sayin 😂
What about the noise aspect to the issue? I hear a rumble noise. Is that a warped rotor maybe?
It could be flat or rusted spot if ur car been sitting for a while it would occur
@@RBTheMechanic I use it often.
@@jeffh.2588 it could be rotors tires brakes ring all that is related might have to test it to tell u where what it is
I only have vibration braking 40 to 30 mph. Car doesnt shake all other speeds. Do you know why its that specific speed window?
Still might me bad rotors possability slight bent at high speed it can’t detect it might reflect right throguh
@@RBTheMechanic thanks mate. I already bought one new rotor, its on the way and will update. Vehicle was curb hit one side, replaced everything expect hub and bearing. Now replaced those two. Still have shake. So is it possible the hub/bearing caused a thickness variation?
Good evening!
i have isuzu npr85, when i press the brake without load it doesn't vibrate but when i have load it vibrates.
thanks in advance.
It can be control arms or just the roars do high speed no load and test it
@@RBTheMechanic Thanks I'll try it.
why do my calipers only stick once in a while? & it's random sides.
What do u mean by stick
New rotors and brake still shaking
Did u change all 4 and did u clean the surface where rotor sits on hub
What if the shaking continues after replacing rotors and brakes?
Did u do all4? Did u clean and liner and clean the hub and made sure no rust and build up?
@@RBTheMechanic thank you for getting back to me. You are very responsive to viewers! It was the calipers. Four different mechanics said they were fine after replacing rotors and brakes, but the shaking continued and warped the new rotors repeatedly, so my husband replaced the calipers and the shaking stopped.
I will subscribe to your channel just for your responsiveness! 👍🙂
@@sarahbeee oh wow glad u figured that out usully I mention when I do brake change video caliper has to be smooth when compression it
damn, my mechanic had mine sanded and refinished and they still vibrate, I am going to another guy to have them replaced, hoping only the fronts.
Sanding or resurfacing wount work I would replace new rotors
@@RBTheMechanic yeah, I should have just went with new ones, I think he was trying to skip on the extra work, he said the rotors were fine though.
@@joesmith9216 yeah replace them and do a well cleaning u set the hub area
i replaced my rotor but not the brakes still vibrates when braking on downhill
Gotta change togather first
Of all brake pads and rotors did I clean the hubs well? And check suspension
yeah man i can't seems to pin point it as there's plenty of culprit to choose from. just recently bought the car and don't know the history of the car. could be the rotor, brakes, wheel hub, lower control arms, sway bar links, steering column, bent rims or uneven tyres. I've replaced the rotor and had a wheel alignment plus change the centre bearing drives fine on flat roads and no vibration upon braking, but downhill at high speed and braking the vibration very noticeable. my car is a rear wheel drive holden VZ commodore pretty similar to chevy pontiac in north america
@@milkyway6724 start with basic rotors and check for suspension play and clean the hubs well
I had change my brakes and rotors in the front but it's still shaken a little bit do u think it's because i haven't changed the rear?
That might be it Also watch my brake videos u will see how I talk about cleaning the hub that can cause shake as well even though u changed it
Watch this video it’s detailed ua-cam.com/video/iaIg70lIHaM/v-deo.html
@@RBTheMechanic thank you so much! I changed the fronts on my car but it still shakes all nasty with it. But i haven't done the rears
@@dank9288639 dose it shake only when braking?
@@RBTheMechanic si guey, but I had the front rotors and pads done less than 5k miles ago, the rears have yet to be done. But I hit over 80 and go on the break and the steering wheel shakes like crazy, it's strange... I mean I don't think the back rotors and pads should have that much of an impact? Maybe I have something else going on? what you think bro
I replaced the rotors and still shaking when breaking, any suggestions?
Did u check play in suspension Some times it’s deduct rotors or the surface rotor sits on is uneven hub could be an issue. Did u change front and rear rotors?
@@RBTheMechanic no Sir how can I check the play in suspension or Hubs? I just replaced rear drums and break shoes, I paid for diagnostic in honda and they said side engine mount and replace rear drums and breaks but still shaking i paid $211 for nothing

Yeah been there done that. Best to replace it
@@RBTheMechanic
Yea , I had all my rotors turns and all new brakes , not even 1 year and my rotors are warp …

The brake rotors being made today are using a "new" metal alloy compound that should not be used for vehicle braking systems. The rotors are cheaper that using solid steel. That's why they warp.
They are designed to warp.Remember folks. EVERY company that manufacturers ANY product, will make their products cheaper by the least money possible. Even if it can be made
a penny cheaper - It's a done deal. It's the consumer's that pay the price for cheap, shoddy goods, especially in vehicle's made across the world. Stands to reason why there are sooo many vehicle recalls, and vehicle failures that can cause death. Cheaper is easier, and crossing fingers that the product lasts for at least a year.
.
Yup new cars are failures parts are made cheap
