Hello sir first of All you are working clean and professional! Better then my mechanic.. Can you please help me, 1 months ago my mechanic replaced my brakes and roots. After that I start hearing scratching noise and brake pedal shaking when braking. The steering wheel dosen't really shake so much. I payd 500$ for the parts and labor. I don't relay have money now to do all that again. Do you have any idea what could be wrong? Can it meybe be the brake (hardware- mechanism)? Edit. My control arm bushing is little warn and I will need to replace it coud that be the problem?
If the new rotor has large runout variation - would the hub rotor need replacement? Could a sticking caliper prematurely wear out a rotor? I had new pressed bearings (reused hub) and new rotors installed earlier this year. I had nice braking for about 5 months, now at highway speeds, I get mild to strong steering shake and pedal pulsation only when braking. Is it a caliper, brake hose, bad hub or something else?
Have you ever run into the vibration issue after having rotors turned? Mine started after having both rotors turned, going to replace them with new and see if that fixes the problem.
@@huskyng6981 I went back to the shop that turned them and he gave me credit for the turning toward new rotors, they weren't that much more and it fixed it completely. Just poor machining ability.
my brake shaking started after replacing the drum brakes. I replaced the pads and the drum and braking at higher speeds creates a shake. Don't understand why.
@@ReelGuyTv ok yea that could happen for a few reasons...could be an out of round drum...the brake shoes possibly installed with the rear one installed on the front, vice versa..or some defect on one of the components
@@backyardchevy328 It's GMC Canyon just like yours. Installed new drum and pads following your video. Even replaced cylinders. Bled the lines whole vehicle. Maybe I just adjusted them too tight. They only fit in one way so don;t think you can install them backwards.
@@ReelGuyTv yea then that would cancel out that...what u could try is lifting the rear putting truck in neutral..spin each side and listen to feel if ur getting any spots where it rubs tighter on brake shoe...it may indicate an out of round area(high spot, low spots)
Hi I re-machine my rotor again and I check it only .002 run out which is very good on the car..and I put on new brake pad but it still shaking when I brake about 50mile/hr or up??
Maybe it could be something like a control arm bushing thats worn..so when u brake that bushing vibrated causing a similar effect..thats one thing that was happening on a camry i just replaced the control arm on
I have a 97 Ford E150 van and I just had my back drum breaks and rotor replaced yet when I break the back breaks shake and vibrate like crazy. I had a mobile repair guy do my breaks and had him back twice and he cant find the problem. Any ideas? Thanks
Based on the condition of the pads and rotors there my were in my opinion very good condition with a lot of friction material left at the time of the vibration. What do you think caused the material to be laid down unevenly on the rotor? What was the root cause. I don’t think you should have needed to change pads and rotors with that little wear on them except for the vibration and uneven wear.
Yea, it was a lot of material..normally it is due to the rotor having uneven spots possibly from rust that accumulated on it..or heat from braking like freeway driving that stop and go traffic, dragging the brakes.
Yea, its cause the brake pads run on that uneven surface..then the caliper is moving back and forth cause of that and that movement of the caliper transfers to the steering

don't forget to check the wheels hub too!
How?
@@avz1153 With new rotor and bad hub, the runout variation would still be large if the hub were bad.
I changed the brake rotors and the pads and it's still shakes really bad when I hit the brakes could it be the Hub

Install and torque lug nuts when checking run-out with your dial gauge. Also, never put grease on the ends of the guide-pins.
I like your piston compression tool. I'll have to DIY one like it.
yes, it definitely comes in handy
I have this same situation right now. Thanks.
Im glad to be able to help🙂
Informative. Thank you for the upload.
Thank you🙂

Yea, if theyre not turned perfectly flat it could do that, itll have an uneven surface
hi I turn re-machine my rotor perfectly flat and install new brake pad on but shaking, I wonder if u can tell me how u got your problem fix thank

My brake pedal does the same thing , what would you advice I do
What if its the hub
I had the same problem after 4 rota with new brakes it went away
I didn't know Milton from the movie "office space" did mechanic videos now 😂😂😂

What u mean by shaking? Ur steering wheel shakes or ur brake pedal brakes? Cause rear drums shouldnt affect steering

Like the back brakes vibrate to where u feel it in the pedal?
Excellent video 👌
Thank you🙂
5:04 not fair, you move the rotor way slower than with the other ones.

brilliant good work

This is what exactly I was looking for 😊 thanks 👍
Thats great🙂 thank you
Not a dial caliper, it's a dial indicator.
Good video, very descriptive without being too wordy, repetitive.
My chev sonic is doing da same
Hard to believe that with this amount of runout it'll cause the shake •
Yea, its cause the brake pads run on that uneven surface..then the caliper is moving back and forth cause of that and that movement of the caliper transfers to the steering

You need to clean all the rust off the hub.
