Broske, this is the best guide you could wish for: comparison in ICAT to compare textures and shadows, explanation of the principles of key settings (about physical cores and RAM auto-cleaning), approximate figures of RAM and VRAM usage, how much the option “reduce texture quality on the location Streets of Tarkov” reduces these textures. The only thing I would like to clarify is something about LOD's in the game. I saw a video two years ago, where it was clearly shown that when the parameter is set to 2 can not see the model of players who run further than 200 meters, but if you set the value of at least 2.5, the range of drawing models will increase by about 80 meters. And also works if you set this parameter higher and higher. Actually what I wanted to know: does it work now?
this is the best perfomance video ever, I gained like 20fps thanks to your information and by using afterburner and doing some settings testing myself. Much appreciated thank you so much
Great video, its nice that you go through the settings and tell the viewer what they actually do instead of just giving up your values and get on with the next one. Im running a 7800x3d and a 6800xt on 1440p with high textures and for those who has hardware related questions all i can say is that memory either if its cache, vram or ram has huge effect on your fps. I just upgraded from a 7700x to 7800x3d and on the same settings my fps on Streets went from 80-90 to 120-135, it seems like the x3d processors where made for Tarkov and poorly optimized games. Also VRam is insanely important by the looks of it, with 16gb of Vram on the 6800xt i average around 20fps more than a friend of mines setup (7800x3d and 4070 super(12gb of Vram)) and we are using the same ingame settings.
Quite interesting what you say about graphic cards because in most tests which I saw on youtube 4070 Super has got around 20-40 fps more than 6800xt in Tarkov.
@@El_Satan for pure rasterized performance thats not true. Our comparisons are done with same settings and no DLSS or FSR enabled on 1440p. All testing done on streets, live on pvp servers this wipe. I’ve seen testing done with 4070’s where they are using AI upscaling (dlss) where they basically are playing the game on 720p with upscaling so it looks kind of like 1440p ish. They get great frames but they run the game on a lower resolution as a result.
I think it would have be useful to test the difference on other maps tbh. The reason I say that is the difference is probably most noticeable on streets(and likely LH to a lesser extent) due to the performance cost of running streets w/ high settings, but on other maps the extra vram is likely less of a difference maker and Id imagine that the performance is likely fairly similar(perhaps even slightly better/more stable for the 4070 super) on some maps. But yes to get the best performance on memory hog maps like Streets/LH, you basically NEED a 7800x3d, and a gpu with a ton of VRAM.

Running i9000k, 32GB memory and 4070 OC. Even with all settings maxed out except LOD 3, view distance 1.5k and SSR off my GPU utilisation never goes above 80%, Vram 11GB (out of 12GB) and CPU usage is at 44%. The game runs well at 2k at 80-90 FPS but wish it would go higher and it still gets the occasional stutter. I've tried DLSS with DSR factor upscaling too. I tend to lean towards this option because I notice less flickering or shimmering on distance objectives but it does look a little bit blurrier than TAA high. It's a tricky one and just feels like the game isn't really taking advantage of resources to the best of its ability while simultaneously having a really bad in game AA. I hope they improve this over time.
That is Visibility. LOD is what makes objects stop rending and letting you see players in the distance you shouldn't be able to, like tarps, walls etc. Set visibility to 2k and you will always see anyone in range.

Just as a clarification, I made a video on this ~1 year ago. Its been a thing in Tarkov for a while now, but it only really comes into play beyond the 250 meter mark. Its related to FOV as well (as explained in that video). Have not tested if anything has changed with this wipe, but maybe I will revisit.
Nice vid, appreciate all the comparisons. Would have liked to see some more in-depth comparisons between TAA and TAA High though, since those are the only real options it seems if you want good AA.

Hey, I really enjoy your videos. I am just after upgrading my monitor to 240hrz 1440p. Would you recommend turning G-sync on or leaving it off in nvidia control panel?
hello brother man, I've got a situation/question if you could help me out. My PC runs games smoother on borderless as appose to Fullscreen, I've noticed it in a handful of games but I hadn't noticed it in tarkov until today. I would just play native borderless but I'm a freak(5:4). And I would just use winexp to force stretch res but I'm not trying to get some bullshit ban. Anyway was wondering if you might know what could be causing it, thx.
Have you disabled fullscreen optimizations? If not, that *could* be the cause- either that *or* having the "optimized for windowed games" optioned checked in Windows 11. Have not tested it much myself, though. Also holy shit, 5:4 is real freak shit. I've seen your videos, but I did not realize the extent of the nausea-inducing settings haha. Hope youre doing well man :)
Appreciate this! Your guide help me boost my fps on most of my maps - however, I am still struggling with shit FPS on interchange. I'm getting like 50fps on average on PvE.
I have a 4060ti and a i5 13400f 32gb of ram but I can barely get 50 fps in a offline raid with no scavs even with all these setting changes nothing actually changed. I also have some severe flickering similiar to what you showed in the video but on pretty much everything further then 50m. GPU and CPU usage is rarely goes higher then 50% on either. I tried 2x Supersampling and the flickering went down without any FPS hit. Any ideas?
Does Z-Blur still add the nice depth of field effect to gun/edges of screen? The alpha screenshots all have it and it looks incredible, I'm unable to test for myself but online people are saying the effect no longer works or is barely visible.
The anisotropic bug is related to nvidia control panel. Since you enabled x16 in the past and then switched to controlled by app, it is actually turned off. You need to use nvidia profile inspector, select the tarkov profile, and search for anisotropic there, its going to be turned off (you control panel its going to show you "controlled by app"). Just restart the entire profile in profile inspector and there you go, tarkov anisotropic filtering its going to work again.
What about nividia control panel settings ? Outside of Tarkov I see lots of videos about that but would like it explained from your point of view very informative stuff and enjoyable I have 7950x3D DDR5 32gb 4090 and streets still don’t run the best at times.
Hey Klem, thank you for the vid! About the shadows, I think the sun shadows on factory work differently compared to other maps. I've been playing on low and medium shadows, and normally there's a noticeable drop in shadow definition some meters away from you, with at least one more drop off point farther in the distance. But in factory my distance didn't affect the shadow quality at all. I haven't done any proper side-by-side testing, but I believe on medium the drop off points are farther away from you compared to low. Not sure if the shadow resolutions are different. I currently like using medium shadows to get a bit more "premium" look at a low cost. Some other things I wanted to say: Last wipe I tested LOD, and it also affected the max distance you can see other characters, at least scavs. Also turning down FOV had the same effect as increasing LOD in terms of view distance. Noise removes (or reduces?) color banding, which can be very noticeable if you've used post fx to help you see better in the dark. I also think noise helps having no anti-aliasing look just slightly less distracting. On my system there's a clear difference between anisotropic filtering off and per texture, so there's something going on with yours.
in factory, i believe the shadows are all baked into the map, while dynamic shadows are from players and player generated lighting. i'm not sure if the rework changed this, however.
I made a video about that player loading in thing but forgot to mention that issue here. (Have not tested if its still in this wipe though). Shadow distance is something I forgot to test, and I will try to test that as soon as I can. I will post any correction in the pinned comment :)
Then you're probably cpu bound. Tarkov doesn't utilize cpu properly so I'm pretty sure if you're cpu bound, it'll never hit 100% anyway. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong anybody
4:3 stretched master race. Was playing on 1920x1440p stretched for a while but Ive decided to be a complete psychopath and im now running...1920x1200 stretched when playing PvE(still playing 1920x1440p for pvp) just because it gives a bit more performance given the performance drop of having to run the game locally in PvE.
Do you have any recommendations on which map to do testing on? Unfortunately even with the Low Texture settings for streets its not playable for me so I was wondering what the most strenuous map is to do my testing.
i have an i7 12700k and a 3090 FE and i get about 40-70 fps on streets on default settings that NVidia recommends so ill try your settings and see if its better. the only problem with my rig is the RAM im heavily due to an upgrade as i still have 16GB of ram. (the reason is i upgraded from a 1660 super to a 3090 and kind of forgot/not bother to to upgrade other stuff except for switching to a water cooler). anything you recommend or just copy your settings?
Hey klem pod here , remember I had the i9 and the 1660 great frames bad quality, planning to up grade for the 15th gen so got a 4070ti, went through NVIDIA GPU settings still getting alot of shimmer and pixelation?
i think you should start having 2 friends in the game with you. that way you can show how pmc's will look in the distance or how they impact with a dead body/rendering in
CapFrameX- though if you'd like something similar to use instead, check out my MSI afterburner guide. Its a similar layout but with way less hassle to set up.

Broooo Amazinggg video fr, I reset my PC like a month ago, and your videos help me a lot to improve my performance and now I'm going to try to improve cpu bottleneck, thank you soo much 🙏
Probably the best tarkov settings guide iv seen. Thank you very much for your efforts
and again, i would like to thank you Klemintime1452. i would like to thank you for improve my tarkovexperience. so much more fun to play, spot enemys, and much more fun to watch to this game.
great work man!
You deserve so much more credit for what your doing for the community
most detail in a settings video ive seen yet, also a great baseline for settings before i went in and tweaked some stuff around to my own pc ^^
Great video man, helped me out a lot!
easily best tarkov optimization vid out there. Went from 85fps with random stutters to 135-150 fps
What’s ur specs/ what settings r u running rn?
Incredible video homie, very detailed, thanks a lot.
Thank you for the explanations, very helpful! :)
best video of tarkov performance i've seen in my life
Awesome video! About the complete FPS counter with resource consumption: Is that using an ingame console command? or an external tool? Thanks!
External- its CapframeX. I have a video talking about MSI Afterburner, which is a much simpler-to-setup alternative to CapframeX which does most of the same stuff.
So... for my 7800x3d with 32gb 6000mhz and RTX 3070 better to off Only Use of Phys cores and off AutoRamCleaner and use similiar to your Settings on 2560x1440? Also about Page file where I should set it? I have game on system ssd - Samsung 990 Pro 1TB and set Page file on second SSD - 980 Pro with system managed (windows takes ~20gb).
Have you considered a career as a university professor? Super good quality of explanations and demo slides for each point.
you are the best tarkov settings tutorial maker fr
great video, appreciate the work you put in on this.
Hey, I really enjoy your videos. I am just after upgrading my monitor to 240hrz 1440p. Would you recommend turning G-sync on or leaving it off in nvidia control panel?
I have a 1440p, 240 hrz monitor. Would you recommend turning on V and G sync or leaving it off and cap the fps?
Very helpful video, thanks for your time :D
hello brother man, I've got a situation/question if you could help me out.
@@klemintime1452 loll ok i will try thx man
Man I wish you to cover other games too, at least just multiplayer pvp ones. I can't find anybody doing it clearly enough
Appreciate this! Your guide help me boost my fps on most of my maps - however, I am still struggling with shit FPS on interchange. I'm getting like 50fps on average on PvE.
HUGE respect for time spent to explain all the settings and spaghetti of tarkov, thanks ❤
Good timing! New card new me. Thank you, I was just making my way through an older video.
thanks for this detail settings guide! love it
Dude this video is awesome. Thank you for the time and explanations. 10/10.
Thank you so much for the detail and the video. You rock!
This is just crazy beacuse i was watching the settings guide straight up yesterday and just seeing a new video made me smile
Have you looked into dlss tweaks? It essentially changes the resolution DLSS does it’s upscaling from (basically you can force DLAA)
Perhaps the best graphics guide I have seen for the game.
I have a rtx 4080 super and still get A LOT of shimmering and the power lines look crazy blocky and disjointed on taa high. Any thoughts?
I have a 4060ti and a i5 13400f 32gb of ram but I can barely get 50 fps in a offline raid with no scavs even with all these setting changes nothing actually changed. I also have some severe flickering similiar to what you showed in the video but on pretty much everything further then 50m. GPU and CPU usage is rarely goes higher then 50% on either. I tried 2x Supersampling and the flickering went down without any FPS hit. Any ideas?
Great vid man
Goat video My brother
is there a setting to revert audio changes in this video? only change needed
I have a video guide on it already (which I may update to discuss the Nvidia App as well at some point): ua-cam.com/video/AUu6S5zXhpE/v-deo.html
@@klemintime1452 thank you mate I’ll give it watch much appreciated
Even my own character's shadow doesn't lose quality with distance, so they really work differently compared to other maps.
@@aaaaa-g7g for sure, maybe labs works a similar way?
@@feneomgamer9138 I actually haven't tried, but it would make sense if it did
I made a video about that player loading in thing but forgot to mention that issue here. (Have not tested if its still in this wipe though).
Shadow distance is something I forgot to test, and I will try to test that as soon as I can. I will post any correction in the pinned comment :)
How do you know if you are cpu or gpu bound if both are nowhere near 100% usage?
Then you're probably cpu bound. Tarkov doesn't utilize cpu properly so I'm pretty sure if you're cpu bound, it'll never hit 100% anyway. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong anybody
There's no way you are using 100% of your CPU :D
4:3 and everything low/off Wkey Bhop jumpshot gang here.
Yes 🗿i personally prefer a inertia neutral into a stop hop inertia cancel into a jump spray
Your gang scares me
@@klemintime1452 gangsters.
Do you have a walk through video on making that exact mis afterburner overlay?
Will u make a new nvidia settings video or is old one still fine ?
Does lod / overall visability effect the range at which players spawn in
Great Vid, super helpful, game stopped being choppy and got more frames, GJ
Do you have any recommendations on which map to do testing on? Unfortunately even with the Low Texture settings for streets its not playable for me so I was wondering what the most strenuous map is to do my testing.
Hello, my main issue is my CPU, wich settings do you recommend ? i have a gtx 1070 and an i7-7700K
i have an i7 12700k and a 3090 FE and i get about 40-70 fps on streets on default settings that NVidia recommends so ill try your settings and see if its better. the only problem with my rig is the RAM im heavily due to an upgrade as i still have 16GB of ram.
Any tips for shadow moving/shimmering while moving? I tried on 2 diffrent PC from full hd to 4K and problem still exist:(
I have witnessed the same thing. I am trying to recreate it consistently so that I can test fixes, so give me a little while to dig in.
@@klemintime1452 A lot of people struggle with this and bsg doesn't care. GL!

Hey, thanks for the guide. What is the name of the performance overlay you use in game?
CapFrameX- though if you'd like something similar to use instead, check out my MSI afterburner guide. Its a similar layout but with way less hassle to set up.
Hey man, amazing in-depth video! Would you happen to have any recommendations for Nvidia control panel settings?
