This is, hands down, the prettiest and most economical box truck build we’ve encountered. It’s so awesome it deserved it’s own video. We hope this one inspires you to pursue van life, whether that be in a van-van or a box truck!

Our truck is a 2009 GMC Savana G3500 cut-away with a 12 ft box. We converted it into our tiny home on wheels and moved in May 2021 to travel North America for rock climbing, hiking, and outdoor adventures.

Really love the white boards contrasting with darker ones, really makes it look similar to a half timbered house
We love that too! And can't believe it's all reclaimed wood.
That is a beautiful build. It's very easy on the eye both inside and out. And i like how the lifted bed frees up space. The main reason I might prefer a conventional box truck, with the engine in front, is that some come with access paths directly from the cab to the living space -- nice if it rains. I've only seen that feature on the smaller ones, based on the GM or Ford vans.
I am interested in converting a box truck as well, I have looked at your you tube video’s multiple times. I have learned a lot from your You Tube video’s. Avery Thanks a lot for posting them and sharing them. I am also a college student so in my box truck conversion I have to plan for three to four months in remote off grid locations so I have to plan for a lot of water and food storage. It is part of a two year Earth Science research project.
One dumb idea I am thing about is a idea of using extra insulation around the bed area to add to my design to use in a area with more extreme temperatures and wide a range of temperatures area a high desert valley that also can be used in the mountains.
I am still in the planning stage. I know I want to try to have a mud/snow room area or spot for clothing wet and/or covered in snow. Traditional in a brink and sticks building there is normally a small hallway with a door at each end to keep the heat or the AC in I do not know if that is needed in a van or box truck.
That's great. Thanks for the tour. It's amazing to see the ingenuity people have.
Man you are on a comment spree! Thanks so much for all the encouragement! How's your build going?
@@RoadtoPitches We are getting ready to start filming in the spring. We changed up from an E450 to a f750 chassis. Now we just have to find an affordable chassis.
Missed notifications on a few videos so decided to binge watch a bit. 😆
That F750 will give you so much more wiggle room (like weight and size wise). Super stoked to see it come together!
Busted the 5k mark. Congratulations and keep doing quality videos like this one.
Your/my vans are both very close to perfect in a number of ways. The single rear wheel insured for less than a dually would have. They are short and narrow enough to park anywhere legally. Parts are pretty cheap. The front of yours is more boxy than mine, and I think that may explain what I thought I heard you getting for fuel economy. But you have more over the cab space than I do. They have enough power for most days.
More space would be cool, but I think the trade offs make it a non issue. Your van is great.
Yes that really checked all the boxes😂 A larger engine would be nice on hills, it might actually save some fuel if you don't have to floor it. But that's just minor details.
What vehicle do you exactly have? Is it also a 12 ft box, just without the bulge over the cab?
@@RoadtoPitches I have the 4.8 L engine, with a Unicell aerocell cw box. It is a 12 feet long box.
In a rural area in the summer, I can get as good as 16 L/100kms. In the winter it’s around 20 l/100kms.
Getting ready to build a box truck and have enjoyed your box truck and this one, many ideas out there, keep them coming.
Yeah it really helps seeing other people's solutions. Happy you enjoy it.
Beautiful build. Best of luck. Safe travels
Whata great video, they are Sweethearts. Super build.
It looks homie to me …the shot you guys got of all of you guys lounging and talking made me see it as a home🏠 .
Seriously though, lve watched tons & tons of these videos & U guys build is in MY TOP 5!!!!!
Honestly, this is sooooo my style & bed 🛌/ living room is on point for me & hw l live....
Grt job, thxs for sharing, happy safe travels 😊💖☺️
This couple is so pleasant, hope they come to youtube.
Couldn't agree more. Hope this video shows them they've got the magic!
The box truck 🚚 is simply amazing 👏 😍.
Box truck pros:
> Weight capacity, more than you could ever imagine
> mpg ~ steady 13mpg full or empty
> insurance ~ about $100 a month (progressive commercial plan due to GVWR)
> turning radius ~ nothing short of amazing!!
> trailer ~ I tow a 16 foot trailer behind with all the "other" stuff
> reliability ~ nothing short of amazing, get the diesel and just drive it. Then it's just tires
Ahhh yassssss. One of my fave box truck conversions. So beautiful, I can’t deal. 😍😍😍
Right?!!! The artwork on the outside done by Courtney does it for me.
What a lovely couple, fantastic home with their character all over it. Best wishes from a very hot London.
Great! So attractive and I love the special decorative touches inside. Happy travels.
Really amazing and gives hope to a more affordable build with good searching and reclaiming thank you!
This was super helpful. I use a box truck for my job and my wife and I would love to convert it at some point. Thanks
The bed hoist☺️ Beamer batteries 😁 so cute🤗
Uhaul has box trucks for sale and in my area you can get one for between 3400 and 5k that's for a 17 foot box truck the smaller is 14ft I think and its cheaper....just thought I would throw that out there
Love Everthing! I would have liked a bit more look into how they did the back wall entrance. Love the lift gate back porch.
Thanks for letting me know, that you posted your video. I just watched it and it was great. I enjoy your channel, I like how you make your videos, the content and the way you to interact with each other is great. Keep doing what you do, and I'll be here watching your Road to Pitches.🙂
Thanks for coming along!😉
Love your build and you two are the cutest!
gorgeous 🤩 i love box truck living!
It's the best!!
Yes got my 07 sprinter van 2500 170 wb for $4200. A steal deal. If i dont show ppl the receipt i got after paying the guy no1 would believe me lol
They did a real nice build
Cute home! Cozy.
I like the layout better than sprinter vans☮️🌵
LOL I see the kitty peeking.
Hahah she was so curious the whole time!!
I love this🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🙏
Love this , very nice.
Cool vid! Hey, you mentioned a better way to get insurance but I think I missed that part...can you elaborate. thx:)
Nice truck.
Nice.
so cute
Wow amazing build
wow
awesome
Beautiful
Good video, looks like they did a great job making the best use of their box truck.
I completely agree with box conversions. They are easier and cheaper to build, probably faster.
I will be towing a jeep on a trailer.
Promaster, Sprinters or the Ford Transit doesn't have the power to tow anything that heavy. Last week I got 12.3 mpg and I was so happy 🤣.
Always a thumbs up 👍
Wow, I don't think we ever got more than 11mpg. (Well except down hill😂). 11 ain't super bad but maybe that's the one thing regular vans are better at.
Wow nice truck 😍
Yup I was debating between sprinter or box truck but I choose box because luke is tall 😁😁😂😂
It's perfect for tall and short people!! So much head space for us 😁😁
Trying to find out how to make money. And you said UA-cam smart lol. I'm on the process of building my own box truck too. I can't wait tell I make it there one step at a time lol.
Yes! One step at a time. You got it Luke and Michelle!
I’d like to know what he bought on Amazon that he put the bed on and what did he use to run it up and down?
@10:12 cheeky little fart 😄
🔥
@ 7:33 why doesn’t the bathroom door open all the way?
There was stuff behind the door.
Portlandia ( van life video ) lol
Keep up the good work! Much love to you both! 🙏❤
New subscriber. Saw you on Different Media
Thank you for joining our journey!
Literally looks like a house stuck to the back of a truck.
Cool build
Totally!
@@RoadtoPitches Where is the video in which Sachiko makes schweinshaxe because Moritz is homesick for peasant cooking?
Hahaha, that would be quite a task without an oven. Maybe get the BBQ going for 6h 😂
@@RoadtoPitches During your adventures, you ought to be able to cover wild hog hunting and BBQ
@@davrelltien7416 we did encounter a family of wild boar crossing the road in Sedona 😂😂 maybe I can convince Chiko to make Leberkäse and Spätzle
What happened to the box truck?😌
Which one?
My truck was only 800$ 😅
That wasn’t a van tour at all, it was just a conversation that took place in the van. You talked about some of the specs but you didn’t show hardly anything.
Which part of the truck do you we had shown in more detail?
🙏👍❤💘
🐾👣🙏✌️🖖
*I don't call that a tour. You couldn't even see much of it!!*
Which part do you wish we had shown more of?
