you may consider that all of the US has CDL and commercial vehicle laws regarding these types of vehicles. but no one on youtube ever seems to address that fact when doing these conversions. anything with a GCWR over 25,001 lbs requires a commercial driver license and most insurers will run this VIN and force you to have commercial auto insurance which costs 10 times as much as non commercial. You also need not for hire stickers to keep DOT off you at each weigh station passing. All these stealth builds come at a price, and a headache. will your build surpass the weight limits for CDL? likely not, but it won't prevent you from being eyed by every DOT officer out there and potential subject to testing and paperwork checks. A bus conversion seems less likely to be hassled.

I had a 1974 travel trailer that I got for $500. I gutted it to the studs and started over... it was pretty awesome when finished and I lived in it while I worked on it so it paid for itself. It did require me sleeping on a camping pad for about a month but I was at a campground so at least there was power and a shower house. It eventually got hot water on demand in a full shower and I bought the nicest rv toilet money could buy. And I did a real vanity too. Mine even had pocket doors too! Everything else was built around that haha. Probably had less than 3 grand into into the whole project.
1 million times “YES!” on the bathroom! That was always my main complaint about a lot of builds. A warm shower and a comfortable pooper are what turn the road into a happy home.

If YOU build it, the RV you build will be up to a standard. The RV's made in the industry are not with a hell of a lot of corners getting cut. They also have a host of issues if there is ever something that goes wrong. Warranty of an RV in the industry is a criminal thing. Doing it this way, means you can do what you want, and for me that has great inherent value.
Possibly a neat idea would be to put a big flat screen on the inside wall with a cam mounted outside that would give you the illusion of having a window when you wanted.
I’ve been living in my RV full time for over ten years. I like the bathroom but other than that it’s no no no. I want a real bed not a single narrow bunk. Since it’s extremely unpleasant to cook in the rain and snow a full kitchen is a must have. If you can’t cook and do dishes inside it’ll be a lot of restaurant meals or microwave garbage. Windows are something I use everyday, trying to live without the sun day after day would lead to suicide. I have a two foot square skylight I cover in the winter to conserve heat but that cover comes of on sunny days. You want windows. No full time RVer would live in this thing. When I say full time I mean no house to go home to. I wouldn’t even consider this thing for a weekend without an indoor kitchen.
I slept in a 8 x 12 Box Truck with a Translucent Roof for a few weeks. On Cloudy and Rainy Days and at night under a Street Light, there was so much light coming through the Roof. The bad side is they are very hot during warm weather, but that could fixed with a roll over shade cloth or solid foam board insulation temporarily placed on top .
I would consider modifying the storage box where the shore power and water comes in. If you put a hole in the bottom of the box and fit it with a plug you can feed your water and electrical through and still be able to keep you door closed and locked. It would provide for a cleaner look as well as keep the contents of the compartment safe.
You have done a fantastic job. Great stuff and the thought and details you have here show.
Nice job. My buddy has a new 38' Jayco Seneca also based on the Freightliner. Talk about DELUXE and refined! But it was over $200k. For the money you have in this, you have a nice rig.
The super spacious bathroom, extra bunk, patio, hidden door, water tanks, flash water heater, power washer. You hit this thing way outta the park!! And in 60 days!!! Fantastic job!! Excellent!!
How many times have you heard “Sorry, we do not accept commercial trucks at our campground, RV resort, trailer park...”? On the other hand it’d be perfect for commercial zone stealth “camping”, truck stops, Rest Areas, loading docks, industrial parks and the back lots of Walmarts. Nice job on the systems.
I saw the signage stating "this is a registered RV" but still wondered about weigh stations & the D.O.T. 'chase cars' on the highways. First off thanks for your comments. We have never been turned away but we do get (No way that's an RV I want to see it lol) Its one of my fav parts. Also we do draw a big crowed when we go to set up and I say go ahead walk in and the come out saying how awesome it is inside and all love the bathroom how big it is. now for the DOT we drive past them all the time as well as through the border and never have they stopped me and we even pull a 27' trailer behind it with a wrapped car and trailer behind it and never a problem. Cheers
I thought it was a pretty good build all along as I watched the video but what really blew me away was your truck washing system. Dude that is completely off the chart. Paint me impressed!
This is the best RV build that I have ever seen.I usually do not like long videos, the quality and the thought that went into this rv is something else.
I have finally found someone who has put a full size bathroom in a RV type platform. With such amazing appliances found on modern boats I am surprised a lot of that tech hasn't made it way into RV's. Well done.
Finally someone who has the same idea I have had! Take a large class 7 box truck and convert it into a rv/tiny. You basically have a short super c that is fully custom to your exact needs. You could build 10 of these for the price of a super c lol. Very very beautiful build!
This is so awesome. You literally get 3 different living spaces, with a huge bathroom. My changes: Put the TV where the picture of the trees is in the living room. WHY IS THE TV OFF TO THE LEFT OF THE COUCH??? HAVE THE TV IN FRONT OF THE COUCH!!! Put the bar seating where the TV is. Put the bathroom in between the "cab bedroom" and the main bedroom. That way, the person in the cab bedroom doesn't have to walk through the other bedroom to pee at night. LOL Really cool build.
I agree with the bathroom shower but I would need a kitchen at least the size of the kitchen you'd get when you stay in one of those Staycation Embassy Suite Hotels about 4x4 or 4x3 size but it has a refrigerator, stove with oven, a sink, upper and lower cabinets, enough room to make a sandwhich lol
Really well. That expediter truck is capable of holding up a lot of weight. The build in that RV conversion is nothing g compared to the weight a working expediter truck has to haul. Great idea
Darn impressive! In regards to windows.. local construction code for houses actually require them as an egress/emergency exit. In case of fire or getting locked in or blocked or something, they provide a means of exit.
This is exactly what I want to do with my old 93 peterbilt 379 tractor. I’ve been trying to explain to the wife what I want to do. Now instead of explaining I can show her. Thanks for the video 🤙🤙🤙
This is an option for me to do to my extra one, it's a 2007 Freightliner Columbia (Class 8 chassis with a 24 foot box ) and it is fully paid for, it would be feasible because I can take my time, and work on it in my spare time. I drive a 2014 Freightliner Cascadia (Class 8 with 24 foot box) for work. It is myself and my partner, and it is also paid for. He has prior experience in cabinet making so he could do the majority of the wood working. I am glad people are considering this as an option because these expedite trucks don't get enough appreciation and they will see a new life as a happy camper. Thanks for doing this video. It's a helpful inspiration.💝
Considering that it is an RV and not a primary residence "tiny home" situation the larger bathroom is pretty sweet. The limitless hot water on demand is way cool. I do get the comments about devoting that much space to activities that don't really consume much of your day but to each his own. Everything is a compromise. The art of compromise is trading things you don't want for things that you do. Well done.
That's a million-mile+ truck and a very flexible floor plan. I'm sure it would have have cost ten times as much (or more) to have someone else build it. Well done! If you really need a window or two you can always add a couple opening skylights and maybe some solar panels?
For cost this thing is amazing. There’s a lot that doesn’t work for me. I do use my windows. I like sitting by an open window in the morn. The best thing about this is how much it fits you and that’s what custom builds are for. I have an 8x12 box truck and no built in shower. And no regrets about that choice. I have a set up / break down shower and no dedicated bathroom, just a toilet. I happy with my choice. This truck is also huge!!! I’d love to see you cover the legal requirements of this. Could a regular person even own one of these with a normal driver’s license. How challenging/expensive is automotive services? Have their been any complications with getting spots in RV parks or any limitations to where it can park?
I'm so glad you mentioned the build cost of the exterior boxes. I was blown away when I started that part of my build estimate! It would be worth it to at least try to find a truck that has under storage already.
This so fuqing cool I would definitely live here with my boys hell yeahhh. Is beautiful love everything and ohhhhhh my that bathroom! Amazingly beautiful.
One of the best RV build-outs that would suffice for my 7 foot tall frame of all the videos I've watched. I see a couple places to change, but all in all, I love it! I'm a new subscriber. Thanks for posting.
I don't even have a drivers' license, (never driven, it's on the program after the world gets opened up again), but, one of my lifelong hobbies is watching people make stuff or explain their development process. Had this fascination every since I used to watch those 'How Things Work' TV programs that used to air here in the UK in the early 80's. that I used to watch when I was a kid. Honestly, It looks like the inside of a house, a very nice one. Beautiful.
Hell, I was eyeing an old broke down POS U-Haul box truck (much smaller) that would fit my army cot and Coleman cooler... for weekends at the scuba park. Alas... current events kinda trampled those plans (and my life). Seriously... this blew me away! Well done! Seriously... RESPECT! And NICE JOB! That's a beautiful build! Subscribed. Good luck! Wishing the best for you in the future.
I am blown away by what you have done. I have day-dreamed about this, and totally agree that having all the windows isn’t needed -just waste time blocking them, and usually the view is just the trailer in the next spot. Plus, you can use a flatscreen with a security, plus sky lights, to get about the same effect as windows. Again, amazing job.
How does it get the most use? How much time do you spend in a bathroom vs say your bedroom or a lounge space. I say the other two get way more of your time.
Before beginning that journey I would do a serious cost analysis of even the basics of what ONE of those tires cost and the work involved in changing one especially the inner rear drive tires in comparison to a regular vehicle tire along with the hourly rate of a qualified diesel mechanic. Then take a peek at the fuel and DEF consumption.
Oookaaay!!! That's a damn good idea. I was checking junk and scrap yards. Which had usable stuff. But it never occured to me to search actually RV scrap yards. Great Thanks man.
I love your point on NO WINDOWS. I always thought about converting a regular semi into an RV. And I didn't want windows. And with live wifi cameras on the truck's outside, and inch-thick screens today, you can just electronically create 'fake' windows when you're not using the screens for TV. And windows are just a point of entry for crooks, vandals... And nobody is looking out windows. They really are pointless. Go to driving area if you want windows. Oh, I thought I was the only one that would want WINDOW-LESS RV. Glad to see yours.
Really great video, like the inside details that you share. After spending years in the emergency apparatus industry, you find out just how much planning goes into building a custom rig. Only so much will fit in the shoe box, and if you make a change here , if effect the next section. Very nice set up, and well thought out.
Almost got lost in the many advantages of building around the bathroom, but finally remembered the prevailing question you were answering ... i.e., "was it worth it?". We'd say, hell yeah. You know exactly what went into the construction and it looks great. Thanks for sharing.
This is seriously incredible! I swear I just threw away every idea i had for my tiny on wheels. This... this is the way to go! I'm sure gas isn't cheap but damn it's literally a house. Only difference is I'd put a sink and oven in. But the cab turning into a bedroom is incredible
I love watching your videos as you come across as super honest and you don't waste time on your videos, they are so easily understood and instructional which I appreciate......these are very helpful to this aspiring "box truck RV" lady! now if I could get my hubby to get on board....lol
A great video in that you talk a lot about costs and give prices--something almost no other van conversion video does. As for the on-demand hot water--almost ALL the class B van conversions use one and many talk about the installation, etc. They come in electric (not recommended), gas, propane and diesel.
Super Awesomeness!drove semis my entire life!gotta say you guys did a wonderful job! Id love to have it in retirement!thank you kindly for sharing this video and restoring my wishlist bucket list!appreciate it!
The only thing I can say after owning a few RV’s and restoring an airstream motor home is there should be an escape hatch aside from the door, that’s the other reason for full size windows. I’ve seen a motor home burn on the highway, no joke 10 minutes the only thing left was the chassis with the frame, scary stuff. Great build, I’ve been looking for the on demand hot water heater, I was also thinking about electric heater floors, as long as you’re plugged in at a campground why burn propane in the furnace when you can use the electric from the campground right?
great point. Perhaps that back deck is the escape route. I'm not sure how it opens from the inside but have an emergency way out is crucial in a motorhome.
This is a bit off topic, but your comment about an escape hatch reminded me of the scene from one of the Legal Weapon movies (with Danny Glover and Mel Gibson), when Mel's camper is being shot at, and he had an escape hatch built into the floor. So he dropped down through the floor of the camper and crawled out from under it to the opposite side of where the shooters were.
Wreckers are great, and look at the pick it yourself carparts too. I sourced a small Norcold from a wrecked class C at an auto wrecker. The yard computer price database had nothing under "refrigerator". The cashier lost interest in pricing it and let it go for $5. under "miscellaneous".
The cost of all the individual components and having someone else do some or all the work makes it even more so. I remember even when I had an old late 1990's RV, I couldn't get out of the RV service center for less than $1000 a visit.
Beautiful job! You & your guys are very creative. Whenever you come South on I-5 through S Oregon, Kevin Hewitt looks a lot like you!! Great business (cars) guy & a caring & artistic person like yourself. I've watched this vid twice & truly appreciate you uploading this for us. Cheers!
Oh one great idea I pass to every one and every one loves the idea?? Boats,,motor yachts,,sail boats, and from there you build with the million ideas you can get free,,and to turn it into a boat is breath taking in the end!! Remember,,everything is so well thought out because if it turns out to be a bad idea you are stuck with it?? The bad part,,,you can’t just walk around until it is fixed or your bathroom stops smelling like a stock yard or chicken farm?? God Bless.
As they say, "Necessity is the motherfucker of intention!" Not really but I told liberties with the saying as you "took liberties" with your build. Absolutely amazing and inspiring. I love your resourcefulness, problem solving and general brilliance with this build. One of a kind to be sure. Kudus to you and your crew!
I am so very impressed with your project. Suggestion, wide view camera on four sides of van will allow people in living area to see interesting things outside of van. Also serve as security feature.
Well constructed, using both sides of trailer for bathroom is a good idea for my self I don't use bed until reset time and rather have a full bathroom also.
14:50- I've only seen a virtual window once, on an Audi concept camper. I think it was '95. And then it wasn't picked up when they went into production. They'd flush mounted a camera directly outside of where the middle of the wall mounted screen was inside, and made it one of the TV channels.
"I want to build my RV around my bathroom" - No wiser words were spoken.

They do have aqua hot system that gives you unlimited hot water and radiant heat! You can get it in diesel or propane!
damn-nice configuration, astectically pleasing interior as well.
This is the best RV build that I have ever seen.I usually do not like long videos, the quality and the thought that went into this rv is something else.
Nice build most people dont have the skills to pull this off and you explained the reasoning behind it all very well thanks have a great day be safe.
I appreciate that!
Been an OTR driver for over 25 years I really like this. I have always wanted to do a moving van like this
I have finally found someone who has put a full size bathroom in a RV type platform. With such amazing appliances found on modern boats I am surprised a lot of that tech hasn't made it way into RV's.
Well done.
I totally like that it’s stealth mode! Awesome. It’s amazing 👍👍
LOL
Really cool build.
I always wondered how one of these expediter trucks would work out converted into an RV. Really awesome build, especially that bathroom. Wow!
Really well. That expediter truck is capable of holding up a lot of weight. The build in that RV conversion is nothing g compared to the weight a working expediter truck has to haul. Great idea
With no windows it feels like a shelter beneath the ground! :D
Darn impressive! In regards to windows.. local construction code for houses actually require them as an egress/emergency exit. In case of fire or getting locked in or blocked or something, they provide a means of exit.
we have multiple way of getting out incase of emergency but thanks for the comments cheers
WELL BUD IT'S NOT A HOUSE
The beauty of a mobile build is that none of the building codes apply.
This is exactly what I want to do with my old 93 peterbilt 379 tractor. I’ve been trying to explain to the wife what I want to do. Now instead of explaining I can show her. Thanks for the video 🤙🤙🤙
Right on man. As I was watching these RV build videos, I thought I was the only guy that would build it around the Bathroom.
3:31 in and I really thank you for the transparency. Too many wanna hid the numbers leaving many to jump into projects they can't properly afford
You knocked it out of the park with your layout and build quality, GREAT JOB!
This RV is completly out of this world !!!!!! AMAZING JOB !!!!
I love the pressure washer solution!! I have one and never gave it a thought to incorporate it into my RV. Off to the scratchpad!!
my favorite part for sure
I'm half asleep n watching this and suddenly he hits into AMOTHER WHOLE ROOM.. Im like "Wait, what? WHAT?"
Amazing build, kudos!
Brother, this is beautiful!
Full workable shower... is awesome! However, while traveling I like at least a port like window to bring in light.
there is light vents that let in light
I don't even have a drivers' license, (never driven, it's on the program after the world gets opened up again), but, one of my lifelong hobbies is watching people make stuff or explain their development process. Had this fascination every since I used to watch those 'How Things Work' TV programs that used to air here in the UK in the early 80's. that I used to watch when I was a kid. Honestly, It looks like the inside of a house, a very nice one. Beautiful.
Holy Crap!!! The Frech Door Is Hoot!!! Love it!
Subscribed. Good luck! Wishing the best for you in the future.
thank you
Nice Build! I only wish the main bed was a bit bigger! Is that a twin size bed? Queen size would be great!
Been watching builds for 5 years loved this one!! Absolutely amazing!!!
Again, amazing job.
thank you
Also better for stealth not to have obvious windows that make it look like a residence.
I'm an owner operator of an Expedite truck exactly like this.
When the truck is retired I may do this with it.
Maybe not as fancy though.
man went big and finished what he started. his knowledge is priceless
I like the washroom very much. It is the only room in the house that gets the most use. And making it functional is extremely important.
How does it get the most use? How much time do you spend in a bathroom vs say your bedroom or a lounge space. I say the other two get way more of your time.
this has to be the best box truck conversion i’ve ever seen
Well, there is your new business, making RV kits for straight trucks
Windows are essential for ventilation foremost, and scenery secondary. I think it is essential.
@@jamestomas3783 Vents are in the ceiling. And that's plenty.
Man, that’s huge, two room apartment. Very nice ideas.
Personally, I would need a proper kitchen, but I love what you did with it.
Have cameras outside hooked to TV's inside as windows.. Or webcams for outside view of anywhere.
Like Tesla cams! And put a big screen tv on the wall and it would look like you were looking out the window.
Great idea!
Man I think you did a excellent job in building this and having the on board power washers was a great idea I like it good job.
This is my favorite RV! Awsome build. Finally a decent bathroom
Super Awesomeness!drove semis my entire life!gotta say you guys did a wonderful job! Id love to have it in retirement!thank you kindly for sharing this video and restoring my wishlist bucket list!appreciate it!
Definitely the most thought out and useful RV I've ever seen, nice work, I bet you loved building it.
very much did as well never done always thinking of ways to add to it
"I wanted to build my RV around my bathroom"
FUCK. YES. BROTHER.
Fantastic job man!
That wouldbe the best remote hotel room ever!
If you are satisfied, it turned out well and it paid off.
I'm not sure how it opens from the inside but have an emergency way out is crucial in a motorhome.
technically he has 3 doors, back man door, and driver and passenger door on the truck, access through the blow through of the cab..
Just a thought.
I think the man door into the cab to allow exiting through the truck doors is good enough
Great job! This thing will outlast any RV!!!
Wow! Gorgeous! What a fantastic job y'all did! Wholly smoke!
Amazing skills, you can’t put a price on satisfaction.
Wreckers are great, and look at the pick it yourself carparts too. I sourced a small Norcold from a wrecked class C at an auto wrecker. The yard computer price database had nothing under "refrigerator". The cashier lost interest in pricing it and let it go for $5. under "miscellaneous".
Scored!!!
As an HVAC guy I would have went with smaller ducts and higher pressure unit, but very nice job 👍
The cost of all the individual components and having someone else do some or all the work makes it even more so. I remember even when I had an old late 1990's RV, I couldn't get out of the RV service center for less than $1000 a visit.
lol you are right that's why we did everything ourselves
This is an incredible build.
Cheers!
Wow, thank you!
God Bless.
What can I say but really beautiful. Great video and I would love to see more. Blessings to all.
This build is bad ass you did a great job my friend you should be super proud of yourself.
thank you
