But you might already know that and if so just ignore this lol great build, looking forward to building one myself in the future
Ummmm, no. It’s lighter than air, but not light enough to rise like smoke does. Your placement is flawed in that it could be closer to the sleeping area so it will wake you sooner. It as for detection, it’s fine.
Actually very impressed and the bed/storage area is brilliant. More than enough space to live comfortably, not sure how I would go about configuring for our Winters here in Canada, but the box truck is very appealing and has distinct merits. Looking forward to viewing more of your videos

You already showed us the entire tour and you managed to do it in less than 30 seconds and without wasting our time. I've already seen everything by the 27 second marker. Thanks! Ain't that the truth! We love our box. I think for a solo traveler a van is ok. But to be able to stand up, move around comfortably it is nice. Plus we only spent $20k everything included. It's been an adventure!
Liking the inside your house people ? And just wanted to tell you that i love it and is seems very big for what it is and thanx for allowing everyone indide your lives like that ! Very brave of you
Cool. Love how your bed lifts up and u can go under and have access to your things. Haven't seen that before, usually you can lift and put storage, but can't walk through or I see back garages. I truly like this way. Nice job and smile 😃
Wow, great job you guys!! Absolute perfect use of space, open feeling floor plan & it looks super cozy. I have been looking for a while for a box truck conversion video that checked all of my boxes & this is, so far, the only one I've found. I really love this! Thanks for sharing & enjoy your journey!
Sweet! Yeah we love the lay out! We did have to work with the door already there. It's a great spacious layout for traveling! I would definitely recommend the biggest couch you can do. I love taking naps and relaxing on ours. Too many vans and smaller rigs don't have enough lounging room.
What a cool build! I like the box truck. It’s bigger than a van and IMO gives it still a bit more stealthy look. Yes the various outlets probably gives it away someone living in there and the bike on the back. But still. Then there’s the bed that lift up to more storage and probably gives easier access to the cab. I love that you have acces to the cab from the living quarters and vice versa without having to step outside. I probably would’ve come up with some design feature that would allow a real door to the bathroom to keep out sound and odors🤣
Box trucks are super stealthy! We kinda gave up the idea that we wanted to be that stealth anyway. We don't spend too much time in big cities. But yeah the design is simple, we might make a video on what we would do differently next time. A better shower door and fan would most likely be on that list!
I am almost finished converting a Ford Transit box truck with garage for motorcycle under bed, it even has a hydraulic lifting backdoor for loading the bike ;) Much more room in a box truck then a van. Going 100% stealth, only thing suspicious is the 1280w of solar panels on roof but normally you do not see them because it is so high up (it is 3,2m tall) and just look like a roof rack from the sides.
This was an all around great video. I've been thinking about making the move from apartment living to doing a conversion and some of the videos are really lifeless. Don't get me wrong, their inspiring and creative but I start falling asleep. This was fresh, entertaining and really an amazing build! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks!! It's definitely not always rainbows and butterflies like social media portrays, but if you want the freedom to travel and live rent free it is a great means to do so! Our plan is a full year on the road. We'll see after that 😁
I enjoyed the video and seeing you knowledgeable and beautiful people. The inability to sell the timber there is big. I love the isolation, feeling of security and the beauty. It can be a gorgeous and workable homestead. Than you, Helene/Texas.
@@theboonboxers yeah, they are like $15-30 for 4 of them from Amazon! Lol... and as an industrial electrician, I would love to see more on your electrical system, I am considering a box truck or skoolie conversion for travel work and don't mind using someone else's ideas to save time and money. I like the use of space for storage under the bed, looks well thought out and a good use of space. How long does the charge on that 1 battery last when you're boondocking?
If you want a plain and simple answer for keeping your cupboard doors above the kitchen counter OPEN.... Look for some Clear Velcro Pads with an adhesive backing. Stick a pad to the front of a door then one to the ceiling! Velcro is also great at keeping things from moving around on their own while driving! For example, put some on any drawers you don't want sliding out on their own.
Different but very functional. We just finished our 50 states two years ago when we hit Maine and a couple other NE states at age 73, however half of those were after retirement. We have a fully off grid setup, but will spend a night or two in campgrounds just to hang out and be fully connected.
Way to go!! We only have Alaska to go... And that's a trek. We definitely like the luxury of campgrounds (especially with hookups) but it is nice to camp free off grid! Cheers to you
@@theboonboxers We did a cross country to Alaska, starting in Washington DC and stayed mostly in campgrounds. We heard one horror story after another about the condition of the Alcan Highway to Alaska, being told that we would have at least one broken windshield due the double long 18 wheelers pulling two full size trailers and running up to 80 MPH. Also would break tires in the deep potholes. At that time we didn't know of another way to get there. To see the most of the country we went all the way to San Francisco and walked over the Golden Gate bridge and too pictures. Then we went up Hwy 1 and 101 to the state of Washington intending to work our way to the Alcan. However, we saw an ad for the Alaska Marine Highway from Bellingham, WA to Alaska. We ended up getting tickets and the truck and camper rode in the bottom of the ferry and we had a choice of a stateroom or sleeping on deck chairs under a heated cover on the back of the huge ferry. We got videos of whales breaching, saw seals, and lots of other sea creatures and eagles. That trip didn't cost any more than the 4 days on the Alcan and it only took 2.5 days. It became the 3rd best part of the trip after the glaciers and Denali National Park. You should have a passport as we had to cross into Yukon Territory twice to get to places we wanted to go.

Great job on the build! Just one suggestion. I noticed you have a bit of partical/OSB board. If you haven't put a varnish or sealant on it please do. The fumes from the glue can be quite toxic in such a small area. Known to cause miscarriages. Best to your travels. ✌

Hi from Japan! I LOVE this build and just subscribed! I have a small Japanese van that I converted, but I'd definitely upgrade to a box truck whenever I head stateside. Safe travels!
greetings from australia, just a comment on your carbon monoxide detector, carbon monoxide is a very heavy gas, think of this way, your van is filling with water, its the same as how Carbon monoxide builds up, from the bottom to the top, in australia my detector in my RV is in the foot well, the absolute lowest point in the interior it can be, not near the roof as where smoke detectors are located, the time your co detector sounds alarm will be to late as for your lpg heater, in australia all lpg heaters without an external flues are banned as people have died from co pensioning, i would toss it out the window mick
Everyone has their 2 cents on CO detectors. We have one and it works well, it has an LED numerical screen that will light up with even the smallest amount is detected (30ppm) sometimes we see it when not properly vented during cooking, but the reality is we have one and I know it works well. Thank you for your concerns though.
Accidentally posted twice, here is what the EPA.gov (US) says "Because carbon monoxide is slightly lighter than air and also because it may be found with warm, rising air, detectors should be placed on a wall about 5 feet above the floor. The detector may be placed on the ceiling. Do not place the detector right next to or over a fireplace or flame-producing appliance. Keep the detector out of the way of pets and children. Each floor needs a separate detector. If you are getting a single carbon monoxide detector, place it near the sleeping area and make certain the alarm is loud enough to wake you up."
Nice and spaceous! You could make those headlamps much better by sanding the dirt and scratches away. You can buy the liquids in just about any autopart store and they're easy to use, makes the lights much brighter.
I like it. And after a million "van" videos, i am hard to be impressed. Ur truck has SPACE! Awesome. Put up a close line to dry clothes on. There are ones that retract.
@@seedsoflove7684 hey hey Thanks! I honestly don't know how people move around in small vans, maybe solo, but not with 2 and a dog! hah Great idea on the clothesline! might have to look into that
2 inexpensive ways you can get your upper cabinets to stay open is put a door close type of magnet in the ceiling. The 2nd is a expansion spring on the side of the door where a strut would go. When you wan to close it bump the spring w/ one hand while closing w/ the other. I saw both ideas in conversation vids. A 3rd way is putting a way of latching the door to the ceiling. I would use 1/2” 2 short dowels attached in an “L” shape, or one cut @ 45% then screwed to the ceiling. I would have them come down a total of 1”, giving a 1/2” gap. Since they could be a head hitting hazard to someone REALLY tall, you might want to distinctly mark them, like painted/ stained a very different color to your ceiling. And replace the door handles w/ ropes in the shape of a handle then put them over the hooks U made. The first & third are the only ones that could be both open & closed w/ one hand. The third might take a bit of practice.
YO, For all those saying "I would literally DIE without any windows, etc. etc." Well, we did install a window over the couch. By far the top negative comment haha so I guess we'll have to make a window video...

Nice and spaceous! You could make those headlamps much better by sanding the dirt and scratches away. You can buy the liquids in just about any autopart store and they're easy to use, makes the lights much brighter.
@@BagznBirdz I tried toothpaste and worked for a bit. Really need to sand, clean, and clear coat. Butttt the lights aren't that powerful anyway! Haha
First time checking out your vlog. A box would be a good choice for me.

I like it. And after a million "van" videos, i am hard to be impressed. Ur truck has SPACE! Awesome.
Put up a close line to dry clothes on. There are ones that retract.
@@seedsoflove7684 hey hey Thanks! I honestly don't know how people move around in small vans, maybe solo, but not with 2 and a dog! hah
Great idea on the clothesline! might have to look into that
Awesome built 👏👏👏👏
Love what you did to the box truck! I am still waiting for you guys! Miss you 🥰
Yeah Jean!! 💃🕺coming soon
Carbon monoxide detectors should be mounted near the floor...
Really? Why?
@beekind6267 CO settles since it's heavier and then builds up, displacing the oxygen in the room as it goes.
Like it really makes a difference
