  • While installing the BANKS differential cover can be a relatively easy process, there are a few potential issues you should be aware of. We'll show you what to watch for and how to solve any problems that may arise. After watching this video, you'll be able to install the BANKS differential cover on your Truck with ease!
Broken bolts are NOT what you want to deal with, so be careful when torquing the bolts.
This cover is designed to take advantage of the fluid dynamics of the stock cover, but add additional internal fluid guides and cooling fins to keep those gears well lubed and cool during heavy towing.
The Banks video describes in great detail the improvements over stock and clearly over the "flat back" covers.

Your truck is too nice to be considered a beater... but you definitely made it better!

Great job David! I almost put gloves on while you were doing this job to keep my hands clean. :)

There is a trick I learned from an old timer mechanic. Get some hand lotion and lotion up, rub it in the best you can then wipe away the excess.
AFter the work is completed, you can wash your hands with some "mild" detergent (Dawn) and your hands will be clean! I should really wear some gloves but I like "getting my hands dirty".
      Thanks for watching!!

Nice video, We installed this cover back in May 22 on our Ram 2500, not sure if is working as intended, but does give us a piece of mind. like the ability to quickly see fluid level and check the top magnet once and a while!

Well and you don't have to remove the cover again! Drain and fill. So, between that (easier fluid changes) the cooling (per Banks) and the stock shape for the fluid dynamics, its about all I can do to care for my rear! ;-)

My o- ring was 1/2 too big was careful not to stretch but ohwell

I have seen others state the ring was too big. That is why I was cautious about it and noted it in our video.
Have you had any issues with yours?

Those gaskets need to be messaged backwards as you install them. It will no longer be too long. Whatever you do, don’t cut it!

I'm not a mechanic, but I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

      Thanks for watching.
I have a couple of more coming out, let's just say.
Scope Creep, if you are familiar with that term!

Did you ever 0 out your torque stick? After you are done with every use if you don’t those kinds, you can actually ruin them because they have a spring inside them

if there were a leak would be coming from the bolts due to the through and through hole into some lower gear house.

So far, no leaks! Thank you for watching!

Did you have to put the spacer on the sway bar or did I miss that part?

I did, but didn't record it. I mention the spacers as I'm taking the brackets off in a sub text.

Just always remember that the extension cuts your torque in half

I did not know that. I also found out later that the torque wrench that I had was functional. It just did not click at low values of torque. The head would rock left or right. After so many pounds of torque it would click like you would think it would. But thank you for the tip and thanks for watching. Please share with your friends and family.

Solid extensions do not cut torque. I promise. Maybe you are thinking about “torque sticks”, which limit torque.
When you don’t expect to use a tool often, it’s tempting to buy cheap. But with torque wrenches, you need precision. Cheap tools don’t get you there.
