Great addition to the tool kit. You can also set your max speed in the advanced settings, so if you want a nice, slow cinematic move, it can be added along with cruise control.
I'm not sure if you or one of the comments made by the viewers mentioned, that you can kind of "add" movements to the cruise control... so... let's say you fly in one direction, wit hthe desired speed... you click C2... then when you change the direction to the left and click C2 again, it will keep both speed AND direction... and you can even add height etc. interesting... and... we finally got the WAYPOINTS back as well... Thank you for your nice informative work! Take care and Merry X-MaX, Max :0
I did testing the morning after this dropped. I was incredibly impressed. In my tests, if you ascend in cruise while moving horizontally in any direction it will rise to whatever your max altitude is set to, then continue with whatever right stick AND any yaw, but stop rising. That is great! Next, combined with the Gain/Expo super slow speeds, this is a video powerhouse of rock-steady smooth flight. Admittedly, while Mavic 3 is agile, fast and powerful, it can be a handful trying to smoothly transition. They have tamed it's w Did anyone try POI on an object miles away with the 7x Lens? It's not always successful, but if the target/subject is trackable, it does the impossible. Autonomous parallax. Sort of.
Russ , this is the first video you've done in about a week. The mini 3 pro had an update and was waiting on your thoughts about it. It deals with remote ID and if you update you can't change back, soo I'm stuck and undecided on updating my mini 3 pro. I thought sure you would have put out a video on this subject / update. Thanks for all you do......
Russ....awesome video as always. I can confirm that Cruise Control works for horizontal AND vertical movements. In fact, I've tried a few different movement options on Cruise. Forward...forward with Upward altitude ..back with downward altitude. Forward, up, and right movements. Forward with slow right yaw...a lot more different moves. Even was able to do a dynamic shot....left move and right yaw for some cool parallax.
Also ensure that if you have a long distance set and use the cruise that you have your battery RTH long enough that it doesn't run out of battery on the way home. Thanks for the great drone content!
I just updated this on my mavic 3 and absolutely love it and I really hope they bring this to the mini 3 definitely a game changer for amateurs like myself to get the cinematic video's as usual my friend great video until next time 😁👍👌 🇬🇧

Thank you for your videos. Flying my Mavic 3 Cine on cruise control at about 10mph and came extremely close to colliding with a building head-on. Thinking that the obstacle avoidance would kick-in, it did not appear to kick-in. Testing this is dangerous for the drone and my wallet. Any insight to the obstacle avoidance function when is cruise control?
Great new feature. Now I just need the Mavic three :-) One other application I can immediately see is if you were doing a roof line inspection that requires a trucking dolly shot as you fly Horizontally along the Ridge line and a photograph is needed every two seconds. This would be awesome to get a consistent series of shots.
Great questions to answer, over and above the basics, and great video. Unfortunately, I think they're done adding features to Air 2S, but I would think Cruise Control has more to do with the controller than the drone anyway, so it wouldn't be any work for DJI to give it to any drone supported by the controller. I'm happy they put cruise control and waypoints on Mini 4. So it looks like you can turn on cruise control and add a little stick, let go, and cruise control resumes where you had it?
I wouldnt go so far as to say its game changing, but its a very major feature, and not in the gimmicky sense either, fantastic addition, not used it yet myself, waiting for the weather to improve first
Very helpful. I have to patrol a large ranch and I need to get to remote areas quickly. I have found that my Sport Mode is not giving me sufficient speed to cover long distance in a short time with my Air 3. It was giving me top speed 45 mph. Lately it has dropped to 26 mph. I may have moved the cruise control. I didn't know about that setting. Thank you.
Love, cruise control! It’s funny I had the same experience with elevation, and before I realized it, I was at 400 feet. But I can’t wait to put cruise control into use in some of my videos. Hopefully it will help make me more smooth! 😂
My DJI FPV drone has cruise control which I like, but I hope they add this to the Air 2 s as it is a really cool feature. I don't see any need for myself on getting the new Mavic 3 classic as the Air 2 s does pretty much all that I need it to do. That said, if I had money to burn I probably would pick up the M 3 classic as I really like the extended flight times and performance, but we shall see... Thanks for the update Russ.
I have a question. The Air2S now has this feature...cruise control. I have this personal project I want to try. In one take, video an island that's 18 miles long. I would have someone drive the car while I control the drone from the front seat. I would always have the drone in my sight. My question lies with its "RTH" feature. I don't want it to stop flying in the direction it's pointed and 'go home'. I want to control its landing at the other end of the island. The island is flat and straight...an altitude of 200' would works perfectly. All the lights are set to amber in the winter. A steady speed of 35mph would have the drone cover the island in 31 minutes...with plenty of battery left. Is this possible? I am Part 107 licensed. Thank you for all your wonderful videos...I have learned a lot from you.
How do you feel about the remote ID update for the Mini 3 Pro that DJI is pushing even though the FAA doesn't require tracking on a sub 250g drone? This probably deserves a video.
I’m not entirely sure about the Mini 3’s exact weight, but,I imagine that it’s similar to the Mini 2, in the fact that it weighs a few grams less than the 249g limit. The Mini 2 weighed around 244 grams, or so, with props, sd card, and a battery. If you add nearly any type of accessory (like a 6g strobe light), then, you’re over 249g and require registration. Personally, my only issue with RID is the fact that nearly anyone will be able to see where the Control is located (namely Me, and all of my equipment). Other than that, I don’t see any issues with either registration, or, RID.
Thanks for the greatly informative video which answers all the essential questions. Have you also tested whether it avoides (flies around/over/under) obstacles while in cruise control (with obstacle avoides turned on, of course)? Or does it just stop cruise control and or the drone?
Always great videos Russ, thank you! Question: I had my first "disgruntled person" experience when flying my drone today. I am always law-abiding and was operating in accordance with all FAA and local regs but this person demanded to know my license/registration number (drone was already put away). I told them I wasn't required to give them that information and they accepted it. I believed that was true when I said it but now I cannot find anywhere it states whom you have to provide this info to... Do you have a video or happen to know when you are required to provide your certificate/registration to someone? Obviously FAA and police, but anyone else? I am a flying under recreational rules. THANK YOU!

A fantastic, really useful (as in not gimmicky) feature. I just hope they bring it across to the Mini3 Pro as well. Then all we need is a true waypoints feature, that is a ‘must have’ as far as I am concerned.
I have downloaded the recent update to my Mavic 3, and I fly with the RC-N1. In the Control tab/Button Customization/Tap I have changed to "Hyperlaps Cruise Control". But, when I push the "Fn" button one time the system does not lock the stick input at all. Nothing happens. After pushing the Fn button I let go of the stick (I only made a right track motion/input) but the drone just stopped in its track and hovered. Do I need to make inputs with both sticks in order to make the Crouise Control active? Or am I doing anything wrong? Is the RC-N1 compatible with the Cruise Control at all, or is it just compatible with the RC PRO?

Yea it did. But dji buried it within the settings. It was at one time the c2 button or something. Not sure why, but one of the last updates to m2 tweaked that a bit.
Nah. The Air 2S is awesome. The only upgrade for you would be the Mavic 3, but not even that is necessary unless you are doing a lot of aerial commercial work.
Hey Russ will the smart controller on my mavic 2 Pro be compatible with mavic 3 classic and with that will I get the cruise control or do I have to have the controller that DJI sells for the magic 3 classic
Russ I turn to you. I've asked many time to many channels and nobody seems to know or answer me. My Mavic 2 pro is said to be able to shoot with 14 stops of dynamic range. This Classic 3 has only 12.8. That's a lot. Do I have this wrong and how could it be.? Does the Pro 2 have better Dynamic Range. ?
@@51Drones ok very good Russ. Funny I’ve watched and read every detailed review and everybody mentioned the dynamic range on the Mavic two pro but nobody knew what you just said. Which is key. Thank you

So, if I get that correctly, and I don't set a max. height, I might just risk a phone call from Elon Musk to get my silly drone in front of his satellite out of the way right?
Here is my funny and sad comment. I am really ready to give up on DJI. It's seems like they don't care of there customers anymore. They just care of getting there new products out and not taking care of there excising customers.
SMH so they released a firmware update for a product that is over a year old because they only care about getting THEIR new products out. Did you even think about this at all before you posted it? This firmware update is 100% for existing customers.

Yea it did. But dji buried it within the settings. It was at one time the c2 button or something. Not sure why, but one of the last updates to m2 tweaked that a bit.
Ok thank you
@@twosiameseandarescue in what name can I find this function ?
I have the Air2s and want to know if is a good idea to update to the Mavic 3 classic? Or the Mavic 3 if find for a good price.
Nah. The Air 2S is awesome. The only upgrade for you would be the Mavic 3, but not even that is necessary unless you are doing a lot of aerial commercial work.
@@51Drones like your content, an always respond to your viewers, keep the hard work.
Does CC work with any controller, or only on an up-level controller?
Could the wind be affecting cruise control at full throttle because the motors have no more power to give in that head wind?
Russ, do you think that Cruise control will come to the 2s with an update?
I don’t know why it wouldn’t.
@@51Drones I hope so, will probably take about 2-3 months but that's better than just getting the M3C just for that lol
Russ... Where can I get the same Hootie you are wearing???
From Drone Supremacy!
Hey Russ will the smart controller on my mavic 2 Pro be compatible with mavic 3 classic and with that will I get the cruise control or do I have to have the controller that DJI sells for the magic 3 classic
What is the weather app you show at the 1:00 mark?
Does the new mavic 3t have built-in remote ID
Yes
What would be more impressive is if we could save the cruise control settings that we do.
A better thing would be waypoints that we could save. More functionality
The Mavic 2 Pro has 14 stops of range only in Raw photos. It maxes out at about 11 with video.
@@51Drones ok very good Russ. Funny I’ve watched and read every detailed review and everybody mentioned the dynamic range on the Mavic two pro but nobody knew what you just said. Which is key. Thank you
O, please, please, PLEASE, DJI, bring this to the Mini 3. I'd cheerfully pay for the upgrade.
Watch out for that ole railroad cop lol
I need that sweatshirt
I got it from Drone Supremacy store!
Ok thanks
@@51Drones By the way I love what you are teaching me from your channel. Like whenever you post a new video I am watching it 10 minutes later when I get the notification. Is there a time when you can unbox the Mavic 3E and set it all up? I have been wondering what it looks like to set it all up. I have scoured UA-cam but I can’t find the unboxing and full set up

Got that big ole caulk out?
So, if I get that correctly, and I don't set a max. height, I might just risk a phone call from Elon Musk to get my silly drone in front of his satellite out of the way right?
Just one more drone LOL
Here is my funny and sad comment. I am really ready to give up on DJI. It's seems like they don't care of there customers anymore. They just care of getting there new products out and not taking care of there excising customers.
They forgot about the mini series😮 sad
What about the mini 3 pro
It’s difficult and takes time to research and build everything under 249 g
SMH so they released a firmware update for a product that is over a year old because they only care about getting THEIR new products out. Did you even think about this at all before you posted it? This firmware update is 100% for existing customers.
@@EdCatlett I was referring more to the two new purchases I have done. the two being the Mini3 and the Avata. So to answer your question. Yes I did.
