What i love about Hunt is all the weapons have their good points for a new player. But my advice for a new player is stick to what's cheap until the game gels.
I would suggest that you add fusees to your guide. When i was starting out that really helped me. They only cost 10 hunt dollers and you can use them for so much. You need to light an enemy hunter on fire you can no do it fast and easy. You need to kill a special zombie you now have a tool for it that is more quite then your gun and can also be done at range once you get the hang of it. You want to blow up a barrel it can do that too. Like you get so much for 10 hunt dollers. It was such an eye opener when i was new to the game. Ps cute dog.
Not bad advice it can be a useful tool! I think that comes down to personal preference though. I personally have never been a fan so tried to stick to stuff I was certain would be beneficial to everyone with the tools and consumables, keeping it very simple as not to overload new players. I was going to mention that I like the flare gun for example but decided to leave it out in the end. Because there is technically a situation and reason to take almost everything and then it becomes a 3 hour video. Hence why the tools and consumable sections are short and to the point.
I highly recommend the beetle for other new players, I’ve found it very helpful for finding campers in compounds and forcing them out of hiding with the gas explosion.

Great info! I was originally using the officer, nice to know my intuition was right about it. I was useing the frontier but i think i'll start using the Ranger.
I started playing less than a week ago, and something i feel thats really slept on is dual wielding pistols. Ive had great success with them, but i dont ever see anyone else use them? You get so much ammo and fire rate for a close to mid range engagement, with a good amount of the pistols being able to 2 shot to the body resulting in an insane TTK, and even the reload speed can be countered using Swift variants. Plus you feel like a pistol toting tobacco smoking bad ass cowboy of the west 😂
Dual pistols are considered fun weapons more than something a lot of people regularly take (as you say you feel like a real cowboy), they give a false sense of being good because you can get lucky or against players who aren't good shots. I really enjoy playing with them myself and have had some really lucky long range shot over the years. So if you enjoy them keep rocking them! However they are massively inaccurate (aka you rely on RNG), you may feel like they aren't because you get lucky, but trust me they are, try firing them mid range (Mid range is around 50-100m) at targets in the shooting range, you start to notice how many shots miss. Also they take longer to reload than a single pistol would, while being less accurate. Hunt is a game about getting an accurate hit, thus relying on RNG is very risky. And while they are great for running in and gunning, a single shotgun blast is going to put you in your place before you get off a second shot, it comes down to what the opponent is packing in that situation. But this is where people have the most success with them.
@Bandanner I wiped a trio with them the other day 😁 maybe they were different in the past and got a buff( I wouldn't know I didn't play before) but the dualies are consistent for me!
