    Skif's pistol is quite OP: it's ultralight, wear is marginal and fixing price is minimal. It's really worth upgrading. Better than regular (and unique) PTMs and their .45 counterpart (forgot the name :P). And remember that you can use pistols with detector. Although, there seems to be no difference in stamina use when running with/without weapons, or with pistol vs. rifle. Also, check out some mods. There is one with performance optimization. Personally I use Grok's consumables weight reduction, and slightly lower stamina usage. It may be worth to also check lower repair costs as these really get out of hand. Once, on basic, not upgraded AKM-74S, I got higher repair cost than it's buy-price at trader :D

    Nice! Stalker again :D Been playing for a few days now. Had to wait a bit before watching the video to avoid not spoilers. Just before the 3rd scanner charging, when you go "I don't like this tower" I had similar feeling (I don't like this compound, seems like a trap), so I dumped all excess guns, and stuff near the graveyard. Turns out, it was still there when I got back there with Richter. Personally, I had no stuttering, but I do have 2 bugged quests, and game froze at me for good few minutes on two occasions. Not that bad for 20h play so far, but I think they should have postponed launch, and polished the game a bit more.

    TBH im not really a fan of the voiced protagonist. Yet again we get to play as American number 564243654352 in our video game. great. would rather my character stay mute.

      You can have it on the original Ukrainian voices, I just left it on English due to most of my viewers being English speakers. As for the protagonist speaking I must admit I was not expecting them to talk.

    Map size's and playable unit caps? I love playing supcom with really high unit caps (like 5000) but the game can only deal with so much as i like loads of separate teams too. Will the limits of this game be much higher than supcom? Also, rough date of release, 2025??

      It's still "pre alpha" so I don't think any of this has been finalised. A year ago they mentioned on discord maps half the size of supcom with scale also being halved. But well that as a year ago AND again over a year ago they were aiming for 10k units but its not the final/real cap. Release date unknown they have a "when its done" attitude, but I would expect more likely 2026. For proper answers to those questions I would check back in this time next year perhaps.

    I dont like mods like shockwave or rise of the reds they just feel not vanilla. I like mods that add on to the game while it still feeling like the devs would add that like the progen mod adds a lot of stuff that look like they would fit in the vanilla game. progen is my favorite mod so far i dont care how much you hate me in the replies.

    There are 1001 flying sim games. They've been around since 1982. There is only one 3d turn based aerial combat. I applaud the attempt, but need to see full game to make judgement. The Spitfire was not the best plane in WW2 but it can out-turn every single plane in this game. Let's examine some things you could have done better. Early combat: Directionally, you have an even engagement facing within 45 degrees of the same direction. You have an altitude advantage: In this kind of situation the faster of you is going to fly in front of the slower. Solution, engines off, and climb to bleed as much speed as possible without stalling. Whole battle: constant black line maneuvers so that you pass out many many times. The game informs you when you are close to blacking out which means definitely no black lines now please or suffer the consequences. Admittedly your pilots kind of suck, play the ongoing game and re-roll until you get a half way decent crew. Learn the edges and flaws of each pilot and plan accordingly. Shooting works if you understand TIME: You must face your plane within range of the enemy so the enemy plane is at the location you are pointing at the same time. If your plane is pointing now at where the enemy will be at the end of it's turn (six seconds later), you will miss. Slight error: At roughly 16:45 in your plane has the choice of engaging one of two enemy planes which are pretty equal, in terms of facing, speed, etc. You should take the one in back, because as you slot in to pursue you will be taking fire from the guy you just moved in front of. Did not end up hurting you though. Again you were also full throttle, but letting them get ahead of you would have been preferable.

      As noted in the video this was my worst fight but it made for a good video. It's not a game I would be playing again, unless I test the campaign to show it off eventually.       It's Unreal 5.1, which some people suggest is janky regardless of who develops with it but I have limited experience of games using it.

      @tiagostein4057 that's certainly true, but unreal 5 has had more issues than previous versions with performance. You can see plenty of the devs working with it complaining. Though it might be 4 was also bad early on and we just didnt hear about it as much

      No, all the paid DLC is for cosmetics. You could argue some of the skins give an advantage as they can be harder to see. But they adjust ones that the community thinks are too strong.

      There has not been any access to the editor and there are no bots in the skirmish sense, all the computer stuff is scripted. The current beta has multiplayer coop scenarios you can host which are scripted missions against the "bots". The tower defence one can be played solo if you close the other player slots.

    "Adapt to Survive" would definitely be a very apt title, as you said. Each mission keeps it so fresh with the many different scenarios you encounter. I really enjoyed this game. After beating the campaign at the highest difficulty level, I also had some fun playing custom games to see if I could take on multiple enemy ant colonies at the same time.

    Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo uhh.. 7 months later and have yet to do anything but i got a problem.. for whatever reason i cannot play Zero Hour on Steam because of some direct X error.. i forgot which one it was.. i believe it was 8.1? I could be mistaken and i tried to delete a DLL file that a commenter on the Steam forums suggested but it did not work.. can this GenPatch and GenLauncher help me update and fix the error somehow?

    iv found the line of sight is also funny with units in cover in woods, sometimes you'll have an enemy unit in the woods less than 50 meters from your guys, and you wont see them and your guys wont return fire, your guys will just stand there being shot from 50 meters away not doing anything, its kinda annoying to micro manage that in a game with this much going on

    I like many mods, my most favorite mod is ProGen, it is what Zero Hour should've been with expanded missions from both original and Zero Hour missions, they add more in generals challenge like Bomber general, couple changes on the campaigns being slightly challenging

    I highly recommend the beetle for other new players, I’ve found it very helpful for finding campers in compounds and forcing them out of hiding with the gas explosion.

    Like you - I have large LoS and "Units not obeying" issues. I find roughly 30-50% of clicks don't work, making it super frustrating. As for disconnects - to discourage this, perhaps there's a way that players can't enter another game until the one that they were in has ended. Maybe as a minumum they can't use that battlegroup until it's out of the last game.

      Glad its not just me having the issue with clicking. So initially it was supposed to ban you from playing another game till that one ends and forces you to reconnect but that does not always seem to happen currently. I would go for a stiffer punishment like a 3 hour block initially, and repeat offenders increase it. But I accept not everyone would be up for that.

    i like infantry more than vehicles, i wanna see dudes in cool suits with cool equipments fighting but in this game vehicles are so much better and infantry is just feels like a burden on you in this fast paced armors game. This and maybe the quitters made me not wanting to play after the first few days. First few days was awesome though untill i got teached about infantry by my opponents :p

    I wish they would of release SP campaign first and then work on whatever they trying to do do with the rest. cause MP in RTS games are not my cup of tea. Sweaty meta clickfests…

      Well we have to remember here that the SP campaign takes a long time to script, it was not finished a year ago, a single mission was created and then got reworked based on feedback because it had issues and was not perfectly fine. And there was more recently a closed beta test on that part of the game which I obviously can't talk about but we can assume it's not finished. And different team members will be working on the missions to some extent compared to those planning out multiplayer. You just have teams working in tandem on different aspects of the game. Such as some people working on performance issues which affect both SP and MP.

    Sea Power and Broken Arrow simply have too many things to do to be fun and then the team issue vs random players in game setup like if you dont have your guys and they dont have their guys u get the leaving. Me gonna wait have to see the price point.

      @@Bandanner the sub hunts and air operations in the vids I have seen make cmo look emotional. Its too much, sonar bouys for example i saw a vid where his helos dropped 85 looking for a sub. Imho seems wayyyy to sim/authentic to be fun. Its a trend i guess

      I have heard other people mention this too though not that its happened constantly, make sure you report it as a bug to them (you can do it in game with the bug icon I think).

    Here are some ways I think infantry can be improved and made fun to use. They need Stealth bonuses to help them not be detected by enemy units. Examples Concealment, Cover and structures should give them a less of a chance to be detected from air units and ground units If infantry is not moving and not firing they this should give them even more of a Stealth bonus and should stack on the bonus from structures Also infantry should have a different Starting starting Stealth stat depending on the gear they carry and if it's a more elite unit. This would allow infantry to have a better chance to get i lnto a position and survive longer in combat. They should also get a good defensive buff when in cover, or a building and shouldn't melt in combat as fast as they do. Also they should be giving ambush stance or bonus on striking an enemy first from Concealment or Cover. And for all units in general should be able to be told to attack certain types of targets. Example add an option next to the hold Fire option on the UI that allows you to choose armor, helicopter, plane, infanty, support as priority targets so that this unit attacks these first or only these type of targets. That way a javelin team doesn't waste all the Munitions on humvves and will only attack tanks with there missiles. Thus could be applied to all units in game and could help with not having g to micro manage as much.

      Good suggestions, I would just add, that if the infantry open fire then they should obviously then become visible but maybe that goes without saying.

      @Bandanner ya as soon as they fire they should loose Stealth and are delectable. But if they move and relocate undectect out of lime of sight from the enemy they gain it back. That would make for some fun infantry shoot and scoot tactics especially with arty support dropping smoke

    I agree wholeheartedly about the dominance of armor/aircraft. I wish infantry were better. The success I've had with them has been when they've been on hold fire acting as scouts for everything else. I think part of the problem is that armor has unrealistically large line of sight and awareness. The way spotting works isn't really conducive to combined arms. They could learn a lot from how spotting and line of sight works in the Combat Mission series.

      @sedghammer ya vehicles/Armors line of sight should work like how their armor system works. Example Front- line sight value Side -line of sight value Rear- line of sight value Top -line of sight value Also of you want to get real cool with it you could have a rotating like scanning line of sight that goes further out and only scans around when not engaging a target to simulate the commanders sight on armor vehicals if they have one. But it doent scan if engaging a target since it's focused on a target already

    The big problem is that the new gamemode is just stupid it does not know what if wants to do and due to the destruction points it completley looses its meaning to cap the points, plus playing with randoms is super frustrating, and also the issues that the russian choppers seemingly tank everything, and the maps are way too big for the game like make those maps smaller and youd see better engagements. Plus the game really penalizes the team that has someone who disconnected.. Plus your framerate in the video is not very good maybe look into lowering the settings for better fps.

      We were discussing this as a group last night and pondered the idea of including the destruction points BUT making them worth less than holding the cap points. And also reducing the amount of points you get in the last phase of the game so you can't just mass spam to win in the dying minutes. As for the choppers, I have noticed some things being more tanky than others but it depends what's shooting at them, AA missiles do seem to struggle more than they should to hit targets at times. Where AA guns seem to melt them pretty fast.

      Weirdly I feel the same and others have told me they just aren't as enthused to play it, certainly there are people on both sides of course but its a shame, hopefully they will resolve some of this before release as the game has so much potential.

      It's a beta not a demo so its not as stable as a final game/demo might be. I assume you are describing a laptop? Unless it has dedicated graphics card then I suspect it would struggle.

      Yeah it is pretty brutal when you first start as you need to learn the maps, weapons, tools etc too. It will get easier.

    I have a question. When I play against AI I get shelled into oblivion by arty then also hit by a multitude of CAS jets even on Easy difficulty. The amount of tanks and other stuff is also unbearable not even that late into the game. How have you managed to hold up so well with seemingly little resistance from the AI?

      Could be a multitude of reasons, firstly the deck that the AI are using makes a difference as to what they will use. And within that there is then also an element of dice roll as to what they might use. For example the AI in the campaigns might have access to more arty so uses more of it compared to a basic skirmish (just an example not sure what you were playing). Then of course since I made that video they have made various changes to the AI scripting so they will behave differently. If arty is an issue either you need to counter battery (shoot their arty with yours) and keep moving your units constantly. As for CAS, just ensure you have reasonable long range AA and keep moving it, you should be able to keep them at bay or use your own jets. Unless they changed it the AI are not a fan of brining out CAS while you have a fighter jet on the map.

    As a guy who typically doesn’t enjoy PvP in RTS games, (primarily because I’m not great at extremely quick micro) this Beta is an extremely pleasant surprise for me. It seems they found the perfect balance in terms of game pace, it isn’t slow, but it’s not so fast that mediocre micromanagers are going to be absolutely crushed. It’s probably the first time I’ve really been able to enjoy myself in PvP.

      @@53Strat True, but the otherwise slow pace allows you to take a moment to breath. You can plan out your big, micro intensive attacks, rather than be stuck in a never-ending state of meticulous unit management. Case in point, my most recent match where I just focused on digging in at a defensive position, probing my opponent's AA capacity (he didn't have much) and using my accumulated points to drop 3 Spetsnaz teams, a IGLA, and some VDV inf/APC's on his urbanized flank, which completely screwed him. In WARNO, that same thing would have been far harder to pull off with how fast and micro intensive it is.

      @@53Strat I agree, though I think "playing right" is rather subjective in this case and I wouldn't use such a term. Playing a micro intensive style is not right for everyone and STB have clearly created the game with the idea in mind that you don't require good micro to play and do well. Which is a good thing it means it has more mass market appeal.

    For me the closed beta has been very good and smooth with almost zero of the problems there is in open, sad to see the open one has been a shit show for many with all kinds of problems.

    I just do not understand why are they forcing 5v5. Why don't they let us play 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 (I know its technically possible in custom scenario, but I am talking about quick matchmaking against random players). And the nukes get old, REALLY fast.

      The nukes will drop off, its just the excitement of them being new. They are balancing the game around 5v5 as their primary game mode, I guess on a casual level people prefer larger games as its less pressure on one individual (hence why 10vs10 is so popular in WARNO/WRD/SD2). Though I don't know all their reasoning. Adding match making for all numbers adds other work, such as maps/map size, layout, income considerations etc etc. Because we all know the first complaint will be "this map is too big for 1v1". Think about AOE 4 which does match making incredibly well across everything up to 4v4 they have randomly generated maps of the correct size for each player count with suitable numbers of resources etc. They are already struggling to release the game so adding more now puts it at risk of further delays. Which I don't think Slitherine would allow regardless.

      @53Strat they are focused on 5v5 with the intention to appeal to a much bigger casual audience. 1v1 ranked would require a different balance approach and new maps etc etc which I can't see happening for release. Or they will never finish the game. So outside of custom arranged games I wouldn't expect it any time soon

      @@53Strat Firstly I am not coming up with excuses for the devs, I am explaining what the situation is, if you don't like it don't play the game, uninstall the beta. The way they have the game set up its not going to be properly balanced at any stage without serious work but that works for 5v5 (I would have thought this was clear without needing to explain it). To make a game work in 1v1 ranked without ONE setup being the meta that EVERYONE uses you need to balance it properly. Look at the struggle they have getting WARNO balanced and in that they force more control using the Division system without people being able to create their own units. Just because you play a few 1v1s does not mean this would work in a full ranked ladder. People would complain very quickly. And again people would quickly complain about maps being too big for 1v1. Just cause YOU might accept it plenty of people would not and I have a feeling you would quickly complain too. Also you clearly know nothing about game development if you think they would not need to code "anything" new. Just adding new UI options, adjusting the menu, adding an additional ELO system for 1v1 ranked split off from 5v5 would all require designing and coding. It doesn't just appear out of thin air. And adjusting the map sizes etc would all take time of the development team from whatever "department" they work in. You ever heard the expression don't tell your granny how to suck eggs? At the end of the day Slitherine need to release the product to make back the cash they have expended on it so far. They are a company at the end of the day, so STB don't have unlimited time to add everything.
