I’ve had one for 13 years, I got it for the different switching options. The pickups are really nice. The frets make it feel good. The thicker neck keeps my fretting hand more relaxed. I had to get used to the shape of the neck, maybe the thicker neck makes my fingers feel like they aren’t so squished together. I have hearing loss in the low frequencies , some of the out of phase sounds I don’t hear. I changed the tuners to some chunkier ones. The stock tuners are the kind when you loosen the screws between the tuners, the tuners fall out the back. Lolo. This is a really nice Telecaster. The pickups are great, responsive.
I've been trying to find one out in the wild, but keep coming across people that have modded or swapped pickups. Any chance you'd be willing to snap a few details pictures of the pickups and wiring under the pickguard and control plate?
I own quite a few Telecasters including some very expensive ones. If I were to sell them all, this one would be the last to go period! I love everything about the sound of this guitar. Anybody who loves Telecasters needs to own one of these, period!
Thanks for leaving this video up. I just picked up a 2006 Baja telecaster in sand color with white pickguard. Good grief how is it possible that I have never played one of these before they are absolutely fantastic. It's quickly become my favorite Tele and i have a few others and a 52RI..That neck makes it the real deal.
I did the 4 way switch mod on my highway one tele, and it's great the neck/bridge pickpups in series! As a luthier and a guitarrist I totally recommend this to all tele owners.
The Baja Tele was the first telecaster I ever owned and if I had to give them all up but one it would be the only one I’d keep. Modeled after the 52’ tele reissue but with some modern appointments. It’s one of the most versatile sounding guitars I own. Nothing gets me as close to a strat and a les Paul all the while sounding like a tele the entire time. Whatever your thinking of getting as your next guitar just drop it and buy this guitar. It just sucks that they won’t release a lefty version.
I bought one in London 8 years ago, i made a bergain, second hand from a teenager probably rich spoiled kid that wanted to play guitar but never touched it, the guitar was immaculate probably never played, bought for 220£! It’s just an amazing amazing instrument, I won’t ever sell it
I was looking for a good video to explain the switching options on the Vintera 50s Tele and I don’t think anyone’s done a better, more succinct demonstration than this in the intervening years.
I own one, always remember when I tried one out for the first time, I had no money for it and loved it straight away, the price is amazing even though it’s gone up! You get more than enough guitar, it’s built well, covers various sounds, including your tele needs :) looks great!! It’s just flat out amazing guitar! you can’t go wrong with grabbing one of these
LOL. When I first clicked on the video I was waiting for the negative reviews and when they praised it, I questioned if I knew the word. And this quote, from Princess Bride, came to mind.
I’ve got a 2008 Baja (50s style not the later 60s version). Love it and it’s been my number 1 for the past 10 years. Barely touched the S1 switch but the neck and bridge in series sounds awesome. The neck is the biggest selling point though and the reason I bought the guitar, eat neck I’ve ever played!
Just bought one. All the traditional Tele tones, with the huge added neck position, pickups in series, which ads huge body to the sound. Haven't tried the F1 switch yet
mine is identical to the one in the video. sold my Les Paul, Rickenbacker 330, and the other Tele i had. will never ever sell this one cause it's grown on me to the point it's the first ax I've ever named... and I've been playing 62 years.

Just picked up a 2008 blonde Baja that was still new. Guy I bought it from didn't even break in the strings and still had the plastic film over the pick guard with the red sticker on it. I wanted one of these back in 2019, only to realize these were no longer in production. I then saw your telecaster review video and bought an HB TE-52 because I wanted that neck profile and love the TE-52. But, the Baja is just so nice, neck fits like a glove, is so much lighter than the obese TE-52 and it sounds so mashed potato smooth. I'm so lucky to have bought a new 2008 Baja in 2023. If you ever have a chance to get one, don't let it slip, unless you're not a fan of V neck ergonomic comfort.
I've got one also ' somebody cut a really big hole in the back of it and put a piece of see through plastic over it to try to hide it! Why would they do that? It also has several different crazy looking tuners on the headstock! What's the purpose of that? On the front of it' it has a big piece of see through plastic also' I can see some wires and a penny sitting inside a little round hole' what's up with that? It also has several other weird things about it that are alot different than my other telecasters.

I own an American Professional and was recently in a guitar shop testing an amp. Baja was in the room and I was mighty impressed with how it felt. Would highly recommend anyone looking for a decent tele at a reasonable price.
SWEET chicken pickin' my friend! Great skills! Don't forget about Albert Collins! I have Baja tele exactly like the one in this video. In my 55 years of playing it is the FIRST Tele out of the three I have owned (including a 1963 Custom) I have ever enjoyed, in fact, I love it! I don't think the neck is all that big. Maybe the ridge back contour makes it feel large to some. I wish I could find a schematic that would show me how to move the 4th position (the B/N in series) to a push/pull tone pot so I could have a three position pickup selector, but that's a minor thing and totally personal. This is the first, and probably the last new Fender I'll ever buy, and it is a total winner. This coming from a dyed in the wool PRS picker.

The neck is really good and when I demo'd it against the way pricier '52 reissue the fretwork was slightly better but the Baja has more sound options and you can spend $150 for some pro fretwork & setup and have a cheap but killer guitar. My only dislike is the thick finish. Maybe I'll strip it and redo with nitrocellulose. Edit: forgot to mention... try a few before buying. I've played 3 or 4 in stores and mine feels more solid with better fret ends. Got lucky I guess.
I have one. The only guitar along with an old les paul I could never part with. So nice. The 4 way switch in 4th position gives a nice chunky tone almost les paul like. The only thing I don't like is the crazy amount of lacquer on the neck.
I Have this and I’ll never understand why they stopped or why they can’t make the player series to this spec. These Baja Teles are on par with any other Tele made.

Nice guitar; a friend has one. Is that Deluxe Reverb reissue a fake? Does it have a tube rectifier or is it just a pretend Deluxe Reverb that looks like a real one?
I absolutely adore the Baja Teles, I've played a lot of them and they always played and sounded amazing. That circuit is, for my money, the best way to get the most out of a Telecaster. I wired up a Texas Special loaded franken-tele a few years ago with this circuit, just with a push/pull tone pot in place of the S1 for the phase switching. Absolute monster.

@@keithclark486 I maybe should have used a Blues Driver or OD something to beef it up. I never liked Guitar tone controls much at all. Thanks though. (I regret trading it in. I made the worst deal ever!!!! Lol)

I have 2 of them.
One is my main guitar outta my 11 teles.
It's pretty heavy modded but with the same pickups.
Baja best bang for the buck...from fender...the vintera version I’m sorry doesn’t seem same...I don’t know if they stopped using ash...but even the finish doesn’t look same on vintera version...pickup a older Baja...online
Nice!
Nice guitar; a friend has one. Is that Deluxe Reverb reissue a fake? Does it have a tube rectifier or is it just a pretend Deluxe Reverb that looks like a real one?
mel obrien It’s a reissue of the classic ‘65 Deluxe Reverb with 6V6 output tubes and a GZ34 rectifier tube.
do you have a bad neck? Your head is always bent at an odd angle?
I inherited a Baja tele and it was a nice guitar BUT it was quite heavy so it had to go.
r u for real lady
I just traded a jazz bass for one of these bajas and thought it was pretty light - you might want to get an air guitar.
Can an ashtray be fitted to this guitar's bridge?
Ross S comes with one. I have one myself
Honestly, for the same price you can get a Japanese Fender Classic 50s which are amazing telecasters
i tried really hard to like this guitar and i tried a few. The MIM finishes feel like plastic and the fret ends were all rough/sharp
