Damaskinos is just a really old vampire. He was also clearly a reference to Count Orlok from the old film Nosferatu. Also, when Blade used that gauntlet blade and Nomak got that weird bubbly head, the blade had that explosive injection from the first movie. The one he used to kill Frost. Nomak just adapted to survive it.
Blade doesn't do romances. In fact they tried to do that in this movie but they cut it out because it was weird and out of character because Blade doesn't do romances.
Coincidentally in Marvel Comics, Blade now has a daughter by the name of Brielle Brooks (Bloodline). I've only read one issue of her comic and it's not that bad.
In the comics Blade did have fall in love with one girl but couldn't go through with it cause it was too dangerous for the both of them which was why they based it with the story with him and nyssa
Yes, Blade is very physically strong, remember him throwing Karen a hundred feet? Remember him grabbing onto a speeding train while only having his shoulder dislocated? Carrying Whistler would be like carrying a toddler to him.
Blade gave Whistler a retrovirus that I assume was made by Karen, because it was not in the first film. After Blade locked Whistler up in the room and saw that the sun did not kill him, he knew that Whistler was cured. But Scud kept trying to cause dissent between Whistler and blade by constantly telling Blade to not trust Whistler, saying things like "he might still be craving blood". Whistler had been tortured for information about blade for 2 years straight. So yes his character traits were a little different in this film because of that.
Asad is played by Danny John-Jules, a well known British actor best known for comedy roles. He was one of four main characters in the long running cult si-fi comedy Red Dwarf.
It was considered a much better film than the first when it came out. Thank goodness it had great box office, because that let Del Toro make 2 great Hellboy movies.
Hi Steph, I`m glad you enjoyed both the first two films. May I suggest you checkout the (Underworld) 5 film franchise 2003/6/9/12/2016. If you would like to react to more Vampire films, Kate Beckinsale stars as the lead character.
37:28 To clarify Whistler's vampire status. He was a vampire until Blade gave him that retroviral detox shot in the beginning of the movie. That's the same thing that Karen used to cure herself after she got bitten in the first Blade movie. As to why Whistler seemed "sketchy" throughout the movie, he's just a red-herring to keep you guessing so the twist of Scud being the traitor hits harder. It was intentional. Also the blood pool was for Damoskinos (Nyssa's father). An earlier scene showed him bathing in it while he was discussing the mission progress with the lawyer character.
Fun fact Wesley Snipes wanted to do a Black panther movie back in 1996 but the studio who did blade said no so that's when he decided he wanted to do blade . Also Wesley Snipes is a certified black belt in martial arts
so dr karen that blade saved in blade1, was supposed to be in this movie- with how the plot heavily revolved around genetics, mutation[s] and dna. her character was supposed to have a much bigger role. for a while, there was a rumor that something may have between her and the studio just before filming started and her part was cut. this would've explained why scud's part really felt out of place and nyssa becoming blade's "love interest" felt forced. having dr karen in the movie would've made a lot more sense. it's easy to picture, in the 2years between the movies, the vampires stealing her cure research and warping it into accidently creating the reapers. by just adding that character, this whole movie makes WAY more sense...
The lighting is fine. It is a bit lighter on one side of you vs the other but neither is bad. I didn't notice any major glare on the glasses either. I think the way you have positioned the light(s) will work just fine. Great reactions, too. I love the campiness of Blade. If you don't take it seriously, Blade Trinity can be fun to sit through. It's not a good movie, at all, but you'll definitely laugh while watching it, if you do. Keep it up!
Thank you so much for your thoughts! I’ve been struggling a lot with it but I think it’s the best I’ll be able to do with the way my room is set up. I appreciate it :)
The first blade was so successful that it led to Fox studios making X-Men followed by Sony making spiderman . If not for blade 1 s success all of the marvel movies come out since blade 1 would have never been made .
Hi Steph. Yes please watch Blade Trinity. (Give it a chance) It's not as good as 1&2 but it was a decent movie and it will keep you entertained. ❤ to hear your overall view on Blade Trinity. Ps.Don't listen to the negative opinions
Underworld 1 & 2 are decent vampire movies, although the quality consistently drops after the first... It's a real shame the storytelling didn't remain consistent as they really had something in the beginning. ✌️
According to the director, the special effects designer said that he specifically made the Reapers' mouths to look like vaginas, because, he said, "vaginas are scary".
Thank you for this review. I do agree with most of your points about the movie, although for me back then it was mostly about Wesley Snipes. Some of these actors went on to bigger (and better) roles. I remember 'Nyssa' in a small role in Nolan's Batman series (BTW, that's another trilogy you simply must add to your growing list) Moving on to Trinity now...
Great, I didn't think you would give the sequel a chance but you did and saw it tops the first one. ;-) Btw, if there's place on your list and we've the permission for more suggestions, I want to suggest "A Bronx Tale" (1993).
Third movie is good. It's strange only because the mood is much lighter than this one. This was by far the darkest and most horror driven of the trilogy, but that Guillermo Del Toro's direction and production for you.
Thank you! I have seen the first 3 John Wick movies but none of the other suggestions. They are currently on my list though, so I WILL be checking them out. I’d love to get content out faster but editing takes a really long time when you’re working full time 😅
Even if you don't review it check out part 3. It's most definitely not anywhere as good as one or two but it's okay at best. It does have some interesting plot points to it.
Thats pretty awesome beautiful dress! Dark colour so fit on you, its made youre skintone looking more shines ✨✨ in the room with this level of lighting. Almost looklike that you wear to friends wedding 😊
You got it backwards, Blade 2 had better fight scenes and CGI for its time over the first movie, However the first movie had a much better story and everything else about the first movie was better outside of fight scenes.
The new lighting looks great. Please don't worry about it. Unless you have a masochistic side and want to be severely disappointed, avoid Blade 3 like the plague. To say it's crap, would be an understatement. Let's just leave things here, on the high point that Is Blade II Blade gives Whistler the retro virus cure developed in Blade, Another series to checkout is Underworld . Cannot recommend it highly enough.
Uh oh, well due to demand I’ll be checking the 3rd one out 😅 I’m going to try to go in optimistically lol. Thank you for the lighting thoughts as well as the additional Whistler info. Underworld is also on the list I’ll be getting to! 👍🏻
@@cinemawithsteph Blade 3 is worth watching just for the ridiculous amounts of cheese (which these movies always were they just go ahead and fully embrace it) and for Posie Parker who I think is a gem of an actress. Then again I havent seen the third film since I was pretty young so I have no idea how it has aged. The Pomeranian Vampire dogs are burned into my brain though lmao.
It amazes me how people can't tell what is CGI and what are practical effects. Do people not know what CGI actually is and just uses that as a blanket term? Some of the stuff she called CGI was clearly NOT CGI. Unlike with some present movies where there is a combo so it is harder to tell, it is very obvious what is CGI in this movie and what isn't.
I’d love if you could provide some examples from the movie of scenes where practical effects vs cgi are used. I did a Google search on the difference between and so far, I stand by my comment currently but I’m open to being wrong :)
@@cinemawithsteph In the early fight scenes with the vampires turning to ash were of course CGI effects, along with fight between Blade and Nyssa in front of the big UV lights and some of the scenes were Nomak is tossing Blade around were CGI. Now when the reapers open their mouths that was a practical effect in just about every shot of the movie. I believe this is something director Guillermo Del Toro insisted on for this film. The practical effect is all mechanically designed with no computerized effects. If you would like further examples, please check out the movie Aliens 1986 and or Star Wars Return of the Jedi 1983 and in particular Jabba the Hut and or Yoda as both of those were puppets/mechanical constructs. There are times when both VFX and Practical effects are sometimes combined to make visual effect appear seamless.

i think the third movie has 2 really sad scenes in it but its my favorite of the three movies. and Ryan Renaldas from Deadpool is in it and like always verry comical :) call me sappy but i think the ending would be even better if blade kissed her after she touched his face bf she dies but it may be out of character for him though :(
Ahh yes, Blade, my high school childhood. I remember all the boys raving over this movie due to the badass fight scenes and just the coolness Wesley Snipes oozes as Blade. So much nostalgia! Regarding Whistler's suspicious behavior, it was mostly setup as a red herring, meant to trick the audience into thinking that he might betray Blade. The way I took his somewhat odd and reluctant attitude is that 1) he didn't trust Scud and might've felt betrayed that he was replaced; 2) he didn't like that Blade was suddenly working with, instead of against vampires (which were responsible for killing his family); 3) like you noticed as well there was some chemistry, and romantic potential, between Blade and Nyssa (the enemy) which could influence his loyalty and clarity in acting/thinking professionally and effectively. Also in the original script Scud betrayed Blade out of jealousy for Whistler. Literally saying "And you. You never cared about me. I gave you everything. All you cared about was digging up the old *beep*!". Quite interesting since to me that changes some major character dynamics and motivations in the film. Off topic but are there any movies you yourself want to check out? P.S. I just read about the fire in the community tab. I'm so sorry that happened to you and your family. You have my sympathies.
