Guillermo Del Toro really puts his stamp on the sequel with some of his favorite things. Autopsies, monsters, weird vampires, and Ron Perlman.
He's a fantastic director and I highly encourage you to seek out more of his work, particularly Hellboy 1 & 2, and Shape of Water.
For more of his weird vampires - The Strain (tv show), based on books he co-wrote with Chuck Hogan.

Nomak was played by Luke Goss, a very much underrated actor who also appeared in Hellboy 2 as Prince Nuada. his former career was as part of 80s pop band Bros. whose biggest hit was a song call @When Will I Be Famous'. Asad, part of the Blood Pack, was played by Danny John-Jules, whose most famous role is as the Cat in Red Dwarf. Also, Blood is Pumping (Running Cold) by Voodoo and Serano in the nightclub scene is one of my all time favourite hard house tracks of all time0

An avid supporter of Celtic FC, he portrayed Markus Corvinus in Underworld Evolution, Rodney Skinner in the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Weath the Musician in the 13th Warrior, and was the voice of Yuri and Captain MacMillan in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 (to name but a few of his acting credentials).

I've always thought this was the best of the "Blade" films. It's got the best story, the best characters and Nomak is one of the best villains in any vampire film. It certainly isn't perfect but it's a blast to watch.

Those were pretty much my exact thoughts too!😁The premise of Blade having to work together with his most hated enemy to fight a new strain of vampire was super dope!!! And the Reaper vampires actually felt like a threat unlike many villains I see in other movies. And it's not too often that I see a villain that I actually find intimidating for not just the hero but the villains too, or in this case the other vampires. So yeah Nomak was definitely one of the best vampire villains I've ever seen in a vampire movie. Combine that all with the amped up action sequences, the visual & practical effects, and we got ourselves a pretty damn good movie!! I'd put this and the first movie up against any of the classics!

Nyssa explains to Blade in a cut scene in the nightclub that for vampires pain is fleeting, so they cut themselves with the implements they we see outside the main room to experience it. as they're practically immortal, the cuts heal themselves but making themselves feel pain is to remind them that, is their way, they are alive

    Less than 2 years after X-Men (2000) and over a month before Spider-Man (2002).
The Daywalker came in blasting and it was glorious.
Wesley Snipes as actor and producer, totally owned this one.
Even he was impressed with how the story and direction would go.
One of the most fun filmmaking moments he ever had in his career,
This was the first great sequel of Marvel's golden age on film (1998-2007).
The comic-book sensibility makes an extreme approach out of the horror, suspense and action.
Gullermo Del Toro truly came through in a clutch and i loved his film, Mimic (1997).
Thomas Kretschmann who plays Overlord Eli Damaskinos goes on to play HYDRA Leader, Baron Strucker in the MCU.
Tony Curran who plays Priest of The Bloodpack, went on to play Finn Cooley of the Kitchen Irish on Daredevil (S2).
Matt Schulze who plays Chupa of The Bloodpack, made his film debut in Blade (1998) as an character named Crease.
    The soundtrack was fire.
The video game on X-box was dope too.
Blade Trinity is considered the worse of the trilogy.
React to Ihe extended cut (better, tolerable version).
I'm glad that Blade has been getting his just due as an character that changed the game more now than ever.

I love this movie for the sole reason they make blade and the vamps, feel like vampires that have super human abilities. yes, some places it's whacky and doesn''t really fit like the van attack, that van shoulda been shreds. Priest portion but guess that's to show you these vamps are a step up but it's intercut with the van attack and donnie yens fight, hammertime scene so idk (good/bad?). But blade vs nomak loved every second of it, you just feel the weight, plus it helps when blade gets kicked into a metal door it bends/breaks, then they do super hero leaps, nomaks regenerative capabilities with the weapon that was suppose to pop him like a balloon, then the arm break he just puts it back into place, him doing a straight massacre of the facility, also nomax literally breaks a pillar himself trying to drop it on blade, and hits blade into a pillar. but real hero of he movie the glasses. Superhero glasses OP.

Hi Laurenn!🙂Wesley Snipes makes an awesome Blade!!!🏆🏆🏆They will need a heck of a lot of luck to beat his performance in the 2025 reboot. I like the added cast in this one. Ron Perlman is also the original "Hellboy" in two films. Guillermo del Toro made this film and the two Hellboy films. These mutated vampires (Reapers) are a whole nother level!😱That autopsy did look real. I do feel a bit bad for Nomak. He didn't ask to be made, and in the end he took himself out. The implications of the serum not working on Nomak is kind of wild, it took out a blood god who could also regenerate, Reapers are just on a whole other level, I could easily see them being in the pantheon of what the vampires fear like with Blade, like their monster under the bed.

This movie is an amazing work by Guillermo del Toro. The reapers are based on the vampires he ended up using in his books/TV show "The Strain". Nomak also appeared as the villain in Hellboy 2 (you should check the Ron Pearlman Hellboy movies, they are amazing), and as a note, the fat bald vampire that appears at both the start and the end of the movie is Santiago Segura, a spanish actor/director and personal friend of del Toro's. He also has a joke that only makes sense if you speak spanish, btw: when Blade uses him to enter the room full of vampires who shoot Segura after Blade uses him as human shield, one of the phrases you can distinctly hear him say right at the door is "Torrente tres". "Torrente" is a series of films directed and starred by Santiago Segura, and at the time of the filming of Blade 2, Segura was promoting the third installment, thus "Torrente tres (3)".

The first two movies are undoubtedly the best, the third being 'disappointing', however the series, "Blade: The Series" (2006) is often over looked, which is a pity because it is better than it has a right to be. "Blade: The Series" obviously suffers from the lack of Wesley Snipes, Sticky Fingaz (who plays Blade) isn't half the actor nor is he nearly as charismatic, however it has good writing, a series long arc that is played well, good characters, smart villains and heroes, and adds positively to the lore of the movies. Whether or not you follow Blade through the final movie of the trilogy please watch the series too, it is worth it.

Fun fact: the guy who plays Chupa here - with the frosted-looking hair - played the vamp in the first one who said "I've got his pig sticker!" before losing his hand to Blade's sword. He's also in the F&F movies, but that's beside the point here lol

Luke was amazing in this film, he also shines in a similar-ish role in Hellboy 2 and both were directed by Guillermo del Toro. Hi Laurenn, I love how you gesticulated in this movie reaction for the first time. I laughed a lot when you opened your eyes in astonishment with the scenes of the movie and I love hearing your cartoonish voice. Greetings from Chile

LoveLaurenn • You mentioned a scene from this movie reminding you of The Crow. The ending scene with blade in the strippers booth, reminds me of the crow 2 City of Angels. There was a scene very similar to this one in that movie with the main character Ash. This scene basically mimics that one. David S. Goyer wrote The Crow part 2 & Blade 2, so I'm pretty sure that's why those scenes are very, very, similar.

As has been mentioned, Ryan Reynolds is in the third one. Look upon it as a Deadpool audition. 😏 Worth the watch.
Snipes is an accomplished martial artist. In Demolition Man he had to slow down, as all the cameras recorded was a blur.

The first two Blade movies are great. Blade II probably edges it as my favourite, mainly because it has cool additions like Norman Reedus, Donnie Yen and Ron Perlman. Also as a Brit its great to see famous brits like Danny John-Jules from Red Dwarf and Luke Goss from Bros.
    Unfortunately the third one.......is pretty bad......bad with a capital B A D.

What always bothered me is that Blade never even listened to what Nomak had to say. Yet he immediately agreed to ally with vampires. Doesnt make sense. Nomak never made me feel like hes a power hungry megalomaniac that will drown the world in blood.
If only Blade asked “ok, but wont you kill all humans after?”. Good chance Nomak would actually just off himself after having his revenge on those who wronged him. Since he was happy to die in the end anyway.

When my friends and I watched this when it first came out, we thought the reapers made a pretty good "cinema approximation" for genestealers (or hybrids) from Warhammer 40k.

In the group of the first vampires that Blade fights, there is a Spanish actor and film director, Santiago Segura (the one who remains alive). And when he knocks on the door for the other vampires to open it, the supposed vampire language that he speaks obviously doesn't exist, and what he actually says is the title of a movie that he was going to release around that time in Spain: TORRENTE 3, a bad taste comedy that he himself directs and stars in, playing an ex-cop, alcoholic, fascist, sexist, misogynist, homophobe, thief...

P.s keep in mind Priests comment in the club, about the other vamps not being pure bloods and they should all be killed. So it didnt matter if they all died tryna find the reapers. Might be an interesting topic to come back to after you watch 3.

I remember seeing this when it came out and recognizing Luke Goss of the boy band Bros, I hated the band but I gained some respect for the Luke and his choice of movies he appeared in, Plays a pretty decent bad guy in this and Hellboy 2.

Blade is pretty cool. If you liked this series you may like Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust(2000). It's one of the best anime movies I've seen and has a similar character to Blade, although the story is not similar. There is also an 80s movie of the same character that's also considered a classic but I haven't seen it.

If you only know Ron Pearlman from SoA you definitely should check out more. He's fantastic. I'd recommend starting with Hellboy. Totally up your alley. Extra fun, Luke Goss (Nomak) is in Hellboy 2. For Norman Reedus you definitely should watch Boondock Saints. Can't recommend that movie highly enough.
