Blade 2 is honestly one of the best comic book movies ever made. And this movie was made 20 YEARS AGO!!! Imagine what it would be like if present day Guillermo Del Toro made this movie!?!?! Also the “reaper” breed of vampires later influenced him to make The Strain which has some of the scariest vampires you will ever see.
It's actually one of the best sequels ever made. The writers, director and star(Wesly Snipes) took the concept of the first film and did something completely different. The best example of this is Aliens.
"You obviously, do not...know...who you are FUCKING WITH!!" That's the best line in the ENTIRE film, and I am SO happy you included it in your reaction!
Guillermo Del Toro directed this, he would go on to direct a TV show called "The Strain", it was based on a book and the 'vampire-like' creatures in that show look exactly just like the ones here. The Strain was a good show too, 2014-17, 4 seasons. It literally could be an unofficial spin-off.

The thing that I loved the most about this, is that Nomad wasn't just pure 100% evil just for the sake of evilness... I mean, sure he was pretty damn evil, but he was almost like a necessary evil. He just wanted revenge for him and his people. I really REALLY liked that about his character, and liked his character in general. Such a great movie this was! 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Boy, I tell ya, that new upcoming Blade had better be something damn special, because it has a sh*t ton of shoes to fill for it to hit anywhere near the OG trilogy. Lmao
lol.. I won't necessary call Donnie Yen 'young' he was around 40 at this time (2002). Him and his sister had just broke thru to US mainstream in the 2000's.
@@Mugthraka Blade in the '70s comics was a human with a unique physiology that made him resistant to vampire bites, thus, he couldn't be turned. They changed his origins and made him a dhampir, part human part vampire, this made sense because it's been established that vampires are much stronger than humans and simply having a sword with no vampire abilities means he wouldn't have lasted too long in a fight.
That scene with Skudd eating a donut and smoking simultaneously is one that has some debate about it. Some people DO both smoke and eat but NEVER at the same time. Others don't really see an issue. What about you guys??
Nissa was a great character. shame they killed her off. I would have liked to see more of the blood pact too, they were killed off so quickly... And in the short time we saw them they were each different.
Anthony, Donnie Yen not young there! He's probably around 36- 41years old there. He has aged very well. He's almost 60 now. Kinda young but not late 20's age.
The current/upcoming MCU version of the Blade character has actually already shown up in one of the movies... but most people just missed it or didn't know who it was.
I'd say might as well do the Third. She's seen 1 and 2 now. They're all worth at least one watch. I'm assuming ya'll will anyways. Content and this is doing well in interest. Considering this Series has been Kacee seeing things she hasn't seen before, but Anthony has watched the movies before, it's only right to dip the waters into things Kacee has seen and Anthony has not. It might not get the same response, but you don't know until you try. Just an idea to potentially think about.
@@artdogg50 I agree wholeheartedly. It's worth a watch but definitely the worst of the Trilogy. A little too campy and over the top with a storyline that isn't nearly as good either. On a side note, even if you don't end up Reacting to them, Boondock Saints is a must for both of you. I'd say the same with the 4 FMAB OVAs. They're part of the actual canon. (You might have read this in a previous Comment Section, I just know this time I'm talking to you directly.
Donnie Yen should've been used way more in Hollywood movies when this came out & Tarantino released Iron Monkey in the USA. Donnie Yen did the action choreography for Blade 2 btw. *But, I always wanted a prequel short film/movie for Yen's character, Snowman, in Blade 2 or an inclusion of that character in the comics since Blade 1 made him so popular they actually started putting him in stuff like making him an avenger & the same goes for his character in Star Wars: Rogue One, Chirrut and Highlander: Endgame.* At least he made great flicks in China like Ip-Man, Seven Swords, Killzone, Special ID...hell, he was even great in Dragon Tiger Gate & others. Great Reactions, BTW! *(Oh, boondock saints is great. Too bad the 3rd movie in that series never happened. Also, Norman Reedus also did an episode in an Horror Anthology series that I can't remember the title of by John Carpenter, but his episode was called, "Cigarette Burns" and it was very trippy + I don't even watch horror too much and I liked it.)*
Blade was turned into something resembling a dhampir. Blade possesses superhuman strength, stamina, speed, agility, heightened senses, and a rapid healing factor that attacks any alien substances (chemicals/viruses) in his body. The healing factor also eliminates any chance of him being rendered helpless or maimed from the inside. Blade is unaffected by daylight and most other traditional vampire weaknesses. He also ages very slowly (although he is not immortal) and can preternaturally sense supernatural activity.
Great reaction. Blade is easily in my top 5 all time movies right next to Jurassic park and The Matrix 😁👍 P.S have you seen Jet Li's 2001 movie The One? That would be a cool reaction to see as it's another one of those ground breaking special effect movies ahead of it's time like Blade and The Matrix 😎
It says in the first movie how Blade becomes a vampire. His mom was pregnant and was bit by a vampire. He was born half human half vampire and can walk in daylight which comes the term DayWalker
@@vee__7 i think what the real bummer is, is that they casted Dominic Purcell to play Dracula. Even if it is a different version of the Dracula we know, wich i was fine with, Purcell ain't that good of an actor honestly for such kinda character.
Same. I love it. i think most people rip on it because it has the least amount of Snipes in it. But that was all his fault, as he was too high to shoot most of the time during filming.
Feels so weird seeing young Darryl again in this... I totally forgot that he was in it until I saw your reaction! He was GREAT in this! And so young! 😃
34:21 You have to remember what Blade told Whistler after being approached about being confused on what side he was on after showing Nessa a little bit of compassion. "Keep Your Friends Closer An Your Enemy Closer." Perfect example of what he was referring to. Blade was playing a lot of things close to the chest in this one.
I really like this one but 1 is my personal favorite, I didn’t hate 3 as much as many people do. A guilty pleasure I guess. I’d love to see you guys tackle it.
Same one is just a better film overall. I think more people like two because or the villian but the cinematography isn’t as nice as the first it seems disjointed. There no scene is blade two that’s as good as the open of the original.
Funny thing about the reaper species is that they were designed by Del Tor to be closer to the vampire myth that vampires did not have fangs but stingers underneath their tongue to drain their victims blood.
The vampyre we see at the beginning and the end is played by Santiago Segura, one of the many regulars amoung Del toro's movies with Ron Perlman. He's notably know for the Torrente franchise where he directs and plays the main character
48:30 Ah, get outta here! I love HP so much, and Daniel Radcliff. Everytime I see him in literally ANYTHING, I immediately call him "Harry." He'll ALWAYS be Harry to me, just like Jarred and Jensen will ALWAYS be Sam and Dean. (I even get their names confused quite often, and just call them by their Supernatural names to make it easier for myself) Haha
Remember during this time, movies were not planned to have sequels, or spin off tv shows. Lord of the Rings and the Matrix series were kinda the exception. That's why when a movie did get the go ahead for a sequel, especially one that was a surprise hit like the original Blade. The sequels were always several years later, often with a different cast, director, writer, etc etc. Because of that, sequels often went in entirely different storylines, and tried to be more creative. Tried being the key word.
Hands down the best Blade movie. The only down is the frankly ridiculous and forced way they brought Whistler back and the forced twist of Daryl (sorry, Norman Reedus). But other than that it's atmospheric, at times truly disturbing, the creature's designs are really unsettling and great action. All and all an excellent movie and an other triumph for Guillermo Del Toro.
The answer to your question about Nyssa is yes, she was a pure blooded vampire. Born as one since her father is an elder. Damaskinos is an ancient vampire of Greek descent. Over hundreds of years old too and supposedly fathered many children, including Nyssa and her brother Nomak. In Nomak's defense, he didn't ask to be a Reaper. True, you'd be a beast but at a cost. He wanted revenge because of what they did to him. Don't blame him in all honesty lol.
Blade is something similar to a dhampirs (sometimes spelled dhampyres, dhamphirs, or dhampyrs) are creatures that are the result of a union between a vampire and a mortal human. This union was usually between male vampires and female mortal humans, with stories of female vampires mating with male mortal humans being rare.
15:07 all vampires Trace their ancestry through Dracula. DRACULA is considered to be the first vampire the original vampire. All those who claim to be "purebloods" are the ones who Trace that ancestry. Anybody else whose blood has been diluted through time are considered half breeds or less. Blade is a special case because he's completely half and half-- he's half human and half vampire. He has both their strengths and none of their weaknesses he's a very special case. But for the majority of the vampire race most of their blood has been diluted in some regard, they may have some talents but most of them don't some can tolerate more pain than others it's just depending.... And just so you know werewolves also can trace their blood and their ancestry to Dracula because Dracula had the ability to change himself into a wolf.

Definitely say watch Trinity to finish off the trilogy, let her have the closure to this rendition of Blade
When I was 6 years old I walked into the living room while my dad was watching this movie. Been my favorite superhero yet.
Ya'll haven't seen Boondock Saints? Yeah, that movie is a must watch. The Sequel is alright, the first however is amazing.
And when they started praying 🔥🔥
I missed out watching the first one in theaters cuz I was underage this one I seen in theaters and blew me away. I haven't seen anybody do blade reactions content was "extra good, good" and you guys are awesome thanks.
you know the actor plays Nomak (Luke Goss) is the same actor playing Prince Nuada in "Hellboy II", both movies made by Guillermo del Toro, both with the wonderful Ron Perlman (Reinhardt, Hellboy)
Boy, I tell ya, that new upcoming Blade had better be something damn special, because it has a sh*t ton of shoes to fill for it to hit anywhere near the OG trilogy. Lmao
lol.. I won't necessary call Donnie Yen 'young' he was around 40 at this time (2002). Him and his sister had just broke thru to US mainstream in the 2000's.
Purebloods are vampires whose parents are both vampires when they're conceived.
Not only is Blade one of my favorite characters his retconned origin story is one of the few that not only works but makes perfect sense.
what was his OG origine story?, can't really remember.
Blade 3 for sure!!! Please watch! A must, just for those Ryan Reynolds scenes. 😛
Fun Fact: The actor who plays Nomak is also Prince Nuada from Hellboy 2: The Golden Army.
I don't like the 3rd film, but I suspect she might. A lot of the more casual fans seem to really like it. Or at least don't think it's all that bad.
Great reactions as always guys Love the channel Since y’all enjoyed blade 1-2 then I think y’all should like underworld 1-2 also
The first blade movie is what made me buy a DVD player because I wanted to see it in widescreen at home.
I was WAITING for this reaction. This is the best movie of the series imho.
Guillermo del Toro director and everything clear :)
The “can you blush” line was a dig at him being black and part human.
Man I haven't heard Iron Monkey in YEARS! Thank you for this😂
Coolest concept to a new breed of vampires. Saw it in the theaters and thought "that is so dope."
Blade 2 was my favorite too. I watched it almost every day when I was in middle school. I was alarmingly obsessed with it and it still holds up today.
Three was good 👍🏻, absolutely react to that one. This has been cool rewatching these beauties 🍻
I think I'm one of the few people who really liked 3, but I can attribute that to how much I liked the cast. Particularly Ryan R. and Parker P.
It's a fun movie. Nothing groundbreaking like the first two. But it's pretty entertaining
@@vee__7 i think what the real bummer is, is that they casted Dominic Purcell to play Dracula.
Even if it is a different version of the Dracula we know, wich i was fine with, Purcell ain't that good of an actor honestly for such kinda character.
@@Mugthraka True. He wasn't a good casting choice.
Same. I love it. i think most people rip on it because it has the least amount of Snipes in it. But that was all his fault, as he was too high to shoot most of the time during filming.
When i was younger the 3rd one was my favorite. It hasnt aged the best but its not awful.
Reinhard asked Blade if he can blush cause Blade is black. Jus like when Blade called him Adolf as in Adolf Hitler. Jus sutle race talk! I love it!
man, thanks for reminding me Wesley Snipes is a national treasure.
The only thing that I wish would have happened in this movie is that Donny Yen had a scene where he fought either Vlad or Nomak
That would've been awesome tbh.
Feels so weird seeing young Darryl again in this... I totally forgot that he was in it until I saw your reaction! He was GREAT in this! And so young! 😃
In the grand list of lawyer jokes, the one in this movie is pretty damn funny. It always makes me chuckle.
Would definitely love to see a Boondock Saints reaction video. Such a crazy movie.
“Open your mouth on him” …” What that mouth do” 🤣🤣🤣 Legendary😂😂
Boondock Saints is definitely worth watching. And the second one is pretty good as well.
I really like this one but 1 is my personal favorite, I didn’t hate 3 as much as many people do. A guilty pleasure I guess. I’d love to see you guys tackle it.
Same here
Same one is just a better film overall. I think more people like two because or the villian but the cinematography isn’t as nice as the first it seems disjointed. There no scene is blade two that’s as good as the open of the original.
Love the What we do in the shadows reference🤣
FUN FACT:
Damaskinos is played by Thomas Kretschmann, who would go on to play Strucker in Avengers: Age Of Ultron.
Can’t wait to see if you do number 3.
Donnie yen was YOUNGER but not actually that young. when this movie came out he was 39 years old
Funny thing about the reaper species is that they were designed by Del Tor to be closer to the vampire myth that vampires did not have fangs but stingers underneath their tongue to drain their victims blood.
Gotta do Blade Trinity just cause, also some lines in that movie I still quote to this day because it's so goofy
Yeah, please continue with the 3rd. It was actually my favorite...
@15:37 - You're right, they do bear a little bit of a resemblance to Count Orlok.
32:15 I can see Blade thoughts.
"Taste the blood of a Daywalker!" There is nothing like it!
This was my favorite by a little bit. I enjoyed 3 because Ryan Reynolds and of course, Blade.
Reynolds was basically auditioning for Deadpool in Trinity. He was NOT playing Hannibal King as written in the comics at all.
You only say that about Norman Reedus because of liking Daryl and his honesty in The Walking Dead and what would Blade be without Whistler!
This union was usually between male vampires and female mortal humans, with stories of female vampires mating with male mortal humans being rare.
he isn't actually a dhampir, a dhampir is a vampire born from the sexual union of a human women and a male vampire.
@@houseofaction but that’s the closest thing there is for me to explain half mortal half immortal lol
Yes Wesley has multiple degree in martial arts and it’s a fun fact on set he had to slow down some of his choreo because his costars couldn’t keep up as much triplet shows how much he put into these movies
yea no one on earth has a degree in martial arts. i think you mean multiple black belts. and that whole SLOW DOWN for costars thing is bullshit that is said about every action star
@@houseofaction that’s literally what degrees means but okay tell me your salty without telling me you are salty and nobody was even talking to you so I’m not sure why you under my comment mad that you can’t do what he can goodbye and it’s not said about every actor are you slow or just dumb
I still can't watch this without laughing at the Cat from Red Dwarf as a vampire
yes. do part 3.
Blade 2 was my favorite as well👍
11:08 Donnie Yen, star of the Ip Man movies and the film Flash Point
This is my Favorite Blade Movie
A young Donnie Yen was like 40 in this movie. Luke Goss who played Nomak also played Prince Nuada in Hellboy II also directed by Guillermo del Toro. Highly recommend the first 2 Hellboy movies if either of you haven’t seen them.
Y'all definitely need to watch Boondock Saints! Great movie! The sequel was decent but not quite as good as the first. I've heard that they're working on making a third to round out a trilogy. Looking forward to your reaction.
"A third Boondock Saints"?!?!?
OMG, don't tease. It will probably come out a decade later like the last Boondock Saints movie. Ugh.
@@geoffkeil3135 I believe that they were working on crowd-funding it and finally met the goal, so I believe that they start filming next month.
