#breadslicer #breadguillotine #breadcutter
A guillotine bread cutter. That's the most French thing I've ever heard of.
True :))
I can imagine the people who come up with the idea
"Hey, you know the guillotine right? "
"Yeah"
"How about we make it smaller and is used to cut of bread?"
"But I thought it would be more efficient to use kni-"
"Did I stutter?! "
😅😅👍🏻
Correction-guillotine baguette cutter
ah yes, the bread revolution
I always get so anxious when I see restoration videos that don't test for lead paint-- super appreciate you showing the test almost every time! Lets me breathe a huge sigh of relief, especially when you show the proper removal and disposal steps you employ!
I always test for lead but when the video is too long, I cut that process
He brought the bread bag out and I was like “yeah French bread” then he pulled it out and I was like “moldy French bread?” Then it said it was olive bread I was somewhat relieved but I’ve also never seen olive bread
It’s a delicious 🤤
@Kevin Zheng olives
I thought there was wood in that bread
I thought he would restore the bread first
Same here though as a cook I have to try it now... (Even though olives are yuck🤢)
Your range of techniques, attention to detail and artistic flair are immense. Fantastic job and what a beautiful piece.
Glad you liked it Scott 😊
Awesome that you actually went with more or less food safe techniques and paints and brought it back to working order rather than just making a design object
Thank you very much nicfab1👍🏻👍🏻
I'm a 58 year old woman and this stuff makes me wish I could start life again and have learned to do what you can do. And that's quite apart from video editing! Practical skills are amazing. We should teach all our children a level of craftsmanship in one or other field imo.
You are so kind to say that C M 🤗 thank you very much
Watch lots of videos and take some classes in the next 2 years. When you turn 60, you'll be ready to start your own restorations. After 20 years of restoring stuff, you retire at 80 and live the golden years in peace.
There is ZERO reason you can’t learn to do this. If you’re worried about the tools needed, I’m sure someone, somewhere, would let you apprentice with them to learn to use them.
Damnit Cate you're setting pointless limits on yourself!
Gosh darn it Cate you can do it! Don't set these limits!
When he says “these are useless now” he doesn’t just go buy some nails nonononononono. He goes to MAKE nails from some random bar of iron he just finds in his storage
😇😇😇
This is some great ASMR material. I love the absence of background noise.
Glad you liked it Ricky 🤗
My genius self read the title as "Broken bread restoration"
bread repair
I don't understand english so i can't say what I read in the first time
Is that like... satanic communion?
"This bread is the body of Christ. We now bring all the pieces together with the wine, rejecting it, so that we may cast it back into the cave where it belongs."
@@xRAINxOFxBLOODx daora msm, yes i'm Brazilian deal with this

I don't think you get enough credit for your sound engineering. We go from faint and subtle taps and scrapes, to circular saws and hammering, and the volume level is always just perfect. Thank you! Maybe you could give Hollywood some tips. lol.
Glad you liked it Palanthis 🤗
Seeing people still care about old tools and items and bring them back to life with so much of care and love makes me happy. This bread cutter can serve another 100 years thanks to your efforts.
Glad you seen like that 🤗😍
His house must look like a 1960s mansion with all these random doodads
First time I've seen a bread guillotine actually work properly, awesome work!
Thank you very much leahadreams 😇
First time I've seen a bread guillotine
These were very common in Danmark up till the 70's. Used to slide rye bred in quite thin slices - not for wheat bread! In Danmark they were produced by the Raadvad company
True Jakob. I saw on pinterest many others made by orhers companies. Alexanderwerk,Alexandrine,Radvaad,i seen others made in the Union Soviet.
@@CoolAgainRestoration haha, you changed "Leahsdreams" to "leahaddreams". Kinda dark message? xD

WE NEED A BREAD SLICER! I CANT CUT THE BREAD
My grandma makes bread all the time but we just cut it with a knife. They were so luxurious back then.

@@CoolAgainRestoration you did an amazing job
Lets take a moment to appreciate the fact that he does this for hours to put a little joy in this world

Yeah. That's why...

I like how he foreshadowed the hammer restoration vid
I can't believe how few people have made this joke:
Sliced bread is the best thing since bread cutters.
😅
Me: well that looks mechanically simple, even I could probably restore that.
Also me: No. No I couldn't. Not like that!
Beautiful painstaking work.
Thank you very much Ellieban 👍🏻👍🏻

@Regoon05 I mean at least it would be original.... and kinda badass ngl
Lol that seems like a good blade, kinda scary bh

Admittedly, I tend to jump to the end of the kinds of videos to see the "after," but with this one I watched every minute. THANK YOU for not having music or incessant chatter. Just listening to the sounds of you working, and the reading the text that explains what's going on, is a true pleasure. Really well done, sir.
Thank you very much Marcus and glad you enjoyed 😊
I love how you take a moment to show the state of all the wood before replacing it. Absolutely hilarious and great.
Glad you liked it 😊
This was next level. Makes you realise that for a simple screw or nail, what effort and machinery has to be made. Today we really are disconnected from that world. These sort of videos makes me appreciate the times we live in. We are so effing lucky. ❤️
Thank you very much. You are from the few ones who understand what importance has this niche of videos.
I finally found it..... a restoration channel without the copyright free music or unnecessary junk. Just perfect. Thank you
Thank you too 🤗
What brought me here for a full 16 minutes and some extra seconds? Why am I intrigued?

Thanks for this kind words Patrick 🤗
i really appreciate that you do real restauration, and not weird fake restauration like a lot of other youtubers! keep up the good work!

Awesome job! I can hardly imagine how much work you put in this project. Hat off!
PS: the numbers on the parts describe the location while assembling it back in the days. Like a Ikea users manual or so 😄

you like working with wood? you mean like hard wood😆 lol just joshing you

Co to Polak ???
I've gone down restoration rabbit holes before, however many creators seem to be faking the majority of their restorations, and some are just smearing with clay or adding surface rust by spraying steel projects with salt water.. I have watched about a half dozen of your videos.. I can tell from some of the instances that you took time to machine brass replacement parts to simply add contrast and your refinnishing of wooden handles that you are most certainly the real deal.. This has earned you my only restoration channel subscription.
Just made it past your demonstration on making your own penetrating oil... I'll be passing that tip along.. ;)
Thank you very much buddy! I will try my best every time 😊
As a french person, I'm really offened by your fresh olive bread
The gold on black looked really good, and the wood was perfect.
Glad you liked it Lawrence 👍🏻👍🏻
"The wood was perfect" that's what she said. :D
Black with gold trim is my absolute favorite color scheme. You can probably tell from my profile pic.
I love how there are instructions-
please don’t get me wrong I’m not hating idk why I started watching restoration videos but I love them
Now how cool is that!!! The entire project turned out beautiful but that walnut wood just made this thing a masterpiece. I would proudly show that off in my kitchen. Such talent in your hands.
Thank you very much Teresa 😊🤗
The way the man fixed the old bread cutter

I was already impressed when you made the custom nail but when you made that bolt and nut... never seen anything like it. Amazing work
Thank you very much Diogo 👍🏻👍🏻
I watched Sorted use one of these yesterday. Now that I've seen you restore this one, theirs was noticeably dull. I'm so glad I got to see this restoration to show what one of these really can do and how beautiful it should look.

Awesome work restoring the bread cutter, and making a new bolt and nut for the part where the handle pivots. Even though do not see as many repair shops in most communities these days, it is good to know that some people still know how to renovate old items.
Thank you very much and glad you liked it George 😊
Never heard of fresh olives bread, i am impressed from the restoration and how delicious the bread looks
Glad you liked it 😎👍🏻
Imagine the reaction of the original craftsman traveling through time to this mans shop and watching this restoration
😅never thought at that
You should use these items that you restore around your house. That would be so cool imao
This one I use
@@CoolAgainRestoration i can imagine a friend over and they want a sandwich and you're like "hold on lemme get the bread guillotine"
Love the fact you kept and restored the original blade screws, super cool as always.
Thanks again 😊
Another beautiful save!!!!!💕👏🏽
🤗🤗
I kinda want to see you use epoxy to stabilize some worm-ridden wood like this had, so you can use the original pieces. That being said, that walnut is absolutely gorgeous.
You can use epoxy to reszore cracks and holes. Sometimes you can even "glue" the wood with epoxy, when its broken.
But this pieces were totaly destroyed by age and worms. As you see the wood is absolutely soft and more like a dry sponge, so even when you cover it up in epoxy in the end you will be able to break it like a dry cookie
True Renegade. many people said that when I restored the coffee grinder and i changed the wood. I thought to do this now but if I do it with epoxy, then the wood will be crackable very easy.
@@CoolAgainRestoration Ahhh, that makes a lot of sense. I was wondering about that. The wood choice for this was beautiful.
Thank you very much Danny 👍🏻👍🏻
@@stask85 Well, stabilizing it is more than just covering the wood in 2-part epoxy. It would require a vacuum chamber to remove any air and proper stabilizing epoxy, not the normal 2-part. Done right, it would ensure that what's left is basically a slab of epoxy with with the "wood" doing nothing more than being decorative. It shouldn't crack or crumble once stabilized, but it's a lot of work for very little gain, and using new wood is just better. I just think it would look neat.
Perfection at it's best. You sir are talented beyond anyone I have ever watched. Signing up for your UA-cam channel was the best thing we ever did.
What a treat to watch your inspiring videos that are extremely entertaining in a way that makes one think, wow this young man is incredible.

Beautiful work on the blade - your edit demonstrated time very well and maintained the “little zen” moment of your restores!

Always a pleasure to watch a true craftsman exhibit his skill and knowledge. 👍👍 The Philips screws raise the question of age for this device.
Thanks a lot. Yeah,we talked in the comments,it is very possible that the owner to made some “repairs”

If i had a penny for every time i saw another splatoon fan i would have 2 pennies, but i still find it interesting how 1 video we both watched affected our recommended to see this type of content. Never in a million years i thought i would see splatoon fans here, but i did..
Just my 2 cents here, I like that you used a different wood, rather than stabilizing and/or epoxy resin coating it. Maybe it's just preference, but I prefer the look of the new wood, and keeping worm hole ridden wood, just because it was possibly original, isn't a restoration from my perspective.
Restoration, brings something old back to usefulness. Preservation takes what is old, and maintains it in the condition found, so as to preserve the history. You restored this piece back to usefulness as demonstrated at the end.
Though, now you've got me curious... what that bread tastes like!
Edit: also, even cured resin, isn't food safe unless it stays at or around room temperature. If you put a hot fresh loaf of bread on the board, with resin on it, it can eventually begin to transfer harmful chemicals to the bread. Or, at least that's what my research over the past 6 years has indicated. I haven't found any legitimate food safe epoxy resins.
You have right. Epoxy resin isn’t food safe. Who tell this,is a lyier. And about the bread with olives..man,you should try. Is the best bread in the world 🥴
It's so nice to see old things restored; that quality isn't made anymore.
True Anna. And thank you very much
you're one of the wood turning people too!!!!!!!! big fan of your content!!
Thank you very much Lex 😊
I love how careful you are not to damage the thing smh
i sincerely hope that everyone watching has tried olive bread like this. we have a very good bakery which does one that is fantastic. everyone, go find an artisanal baker and try this. green or kalamata olives. if the bakery is using american black olives, dont go near it, for god sake.
I dont like olives that much but I might try this

"Acetone and Automatic Transmission Fluid"
color me intrigued. I've never seen this tactic before, and I watch alot of restoration vids.
And seeing how it worked, it was just as good as the expensive ass DETCO-45 we usually use
Edit- Those letters and numbers you found are probably just serials and parts labels for the manufacturers
Edit 2- 9:02 is that why people are calling you an amateur? I mean it is a "rookie" thing to do but I appreciate you attempting to save at least a little bit of the original parts. As a (non condescendingly as I can be) bit of a tip, precision elements like screw threads and barrel riflings are very vulnerable to rust pitting and usually are unsalvageable, so, expect that more often than not.
The acetone and ATF work amazing. I dont know why,but some people have high expectation,or they should watch a video of restoration in the manner they will restore that object. But most of they, dont restored never something..🤷🏼♂️
so the number "330 A" by minute 4:12 say only. it is the 330 cast part and the "A" say only "Außenseite" in english "outer face". it is only a help for the fitter there must the bread guillotine to screw .
short: it is the 330 Bread Guillotine form the factory Alexanderwerk.
