Very well done. I appreciate the camera quality and audio. At no point was there obnoxious music or exceedingly loud feedback from the tools. I really like the fact you didn't use any excessive material. Everything seemed to be calculated to use the perfect amount of consumables while maintaining a clean shop. I didnt realize how much I enjoyed that until I noticed it. Most importantly, you didn't artificially corrode something and try to pass it off as "ancient". I like your delivery and style.
THAT was one of the finest examples of hand filing I have EVER seen (and I'm a 58 year old man who's done a lot of it). Your ability to turn inanimate objects into works of art is amazing! This was an absolute pleasure to watch, bravo to you brother! Thank you very much for sharing your videos with us. God bless you and your family. Rev. D.
I don't understand the obsession with putting a mirror polish on working implements like knives and axes and such, so kudos to you on the simple, yet beautiful finish. It's nice but not gaudy. Phenomenal choices on wood for the handle. I love the laminated swell! Job well done, sir, all the way around.
Thanks a lot and glad you enjoyed so much. I don’t like the polished axes too that’s why I try to make something different on my channel . I restored another axe 3 months ago , you will like that one too 😊 wish you all the best
Axes are my favorite weapon; I just like the aesthitic. I really liked the addition of the oak pieces on the end of the handle to give it a bit of color on the handle. Overall a great restoration.
Christopher Malloy this IS the best are restoration. I've watched hundreds of them and between Cool Again and Tysy they are true MASTERS at their craft.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. These are the BEST restoration videos on youtube. Everything is perfect. From timestamping the videos to putting explanations of what you're doing, filming enough to be interesting but not too much so it's boring. Your videos are relaxing, organized, easy to follow and have everything I want in a restoration video. Other channels, although good, just don't do it as well as this one.
I’m afraid that true craftsmanship is a dying art. You sir are a true craftsman and artist. Your video shows each detail of your work and nothing else. Thanks for sharing 🙏🏼👍🏼✌🏼🪓
This is the best axe restoration video I've ever seen. Thanks for keeping it real, no mirror-polish, Viking runes, charred handle nonsense. Your result it authentic yet gorgeous axe.
Mate I need to say that I just discovered your channel by chance.. (thank God for the incredible Zippo video). Since everyone is talking about the handle and some other aspects.. I will take a minute to tell you how incredible is for me that you can remove material and polish the metal to such a degree that it literally shines like a mirror. For me, that was the best part..anyway, your work is outstanding, please NEVER STOP making videos like this ❤️
That handle looks amazing! That was a great idea laminating the palm swell, you nailed it. Also I really liked the towel trick for putting a bevel on the axe, I liked the whole video, awesome restoration.
Excellent restoration. Superior presentation quality. Repair of the mushrooming of the hammers head was done with a hand file. Very old school.. Thank you 😊 for not wasting my time.
Another, yes another awesome restoration. If I lived anywhere close to you I’d be the friend that hung out in your workshop and wouldn’t leave…but I’d bring beer. Love watching you work…if you ever come over here, I demand you visit me. Awesome restoration…awesome!!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
@@CoolAgainRestoration I appreciate you sharing your workshop with us! I have a question…is Odies a local product or do they sell it everywhere? I want to try it. And what brand draw knife is that? I can’t find a new one that’s any good. I have two that I use and they are both eighty+ years old.
Mine is old too. Has no company marks on,maybe is handmade,I don’t know. And the odie oil is very good, maybe the number one in business. But is too expensive. They ship everywhere but is expensive the shipping too. If you are from USA maybe is a way cheaper but to me was expensive because I paid the price for oil,the shipping from USA to Europe and the tax too
I have a Helko Werk Forestry axe and also a small hatchet. They make amazing products. A lot of people swear by the Swedish made axes, which are very good. But as you pointed out they’ve been making axes since 1844. Thank you for restoring this piece. It is stunning.
Using a wood chisel to remove a steel wedge???? If my father had caught me doing that to one of his wood chisels, I wouldnt have been able to sit down for a week.
Watching you remove that wedge with your lovely wood chisel made me a little bit anxious! But I'm relaxed seeing no harm came to the chisel 🤣 A lesser mortal might have taken an angle grinder to that axe head - total respect to you for taking the craftsman's approach and using the file instead. And yes. I love the laminated hand swell with contrasting wood. Most beautiful!
Thank you very much mate ! That chisel is only for that kind of jobs 😅 because it was cheap and I think is not hardened enough . After a single use in wood , the edge of the blade became dull quickly, so I took the decision to use it only in these dirty jobs 😅
I love how you restored it with some beautiful wood, but that you kept its original personality, like with the eagle maker’s mark and the cheeks of the head.
Best one yet I've seen, your attention to detail is amazing and I am transfixed on its start to finish and this one were u really did have to make new handle which perfectly made and the restoration to the axe again step by step details helps me to understand your thinking process so again I love watching your vids
Nice axe. Needs a longer handle than the original in my opinion. Good attention to detail bluing the inside of the eye. Great job on the poll. I also liked how you soaked it in oil overnight. Excellent choice of wood for the handle. Good job.
