- Who doesn't love a good plant based vegan veggie burger? This veggie burger is a bit different than a standard burger because of being cooked into a loaf. The reason we chose to make it this way is because we always struggle to find a gluten free, vegan burger bun that doesn't taste like sawdust and holds together when you eat it. We end up eating our veggie burgers on bread. Well, I know you all know where I am going with this. A round burger on square bread leaves many bites with only bread and no burger. By making this burger recipe in a bread loaf pan, you have a burger that is the same shape as your bread and has the added benefit of being able to slice your burger to your preferred thickness. We use our Gluten Free Bread recipe (link below) with these veggie burgers.

You have no idea how much I love your videos. I don't use oil and I'm gluten free so these recipes are right up my alley. I also love that you don't use soy because it gives me headaches!

Not tech savy & do not know how to vote but would give top ratings to this. Have made this twice so far. Second time, doubled recipe & baked on lg baking sheet. Bout 1" thick. Baked 1 hr. Then cut 4"x4". Excellent.
We've been following you forever, but we call you "fancy kitchen" to separate you from the others! Can't eat popcorn (oil free) without the Bragg's now because of your family. Such a simple thing but so wonderful! Thank you!
I love your bread recipe and made it many times adding a teaspoon of rosemary and garlic powder toasted for a slight crunch ... yum! Having a burger squared instead round for this bread is genius!

It's very simple. Not everybody likes a plant based diet. I like the low card veggies but I also eat meat for protein.

I live in MA but just visited my friend in Cary a couple weeks ago. I’ve been there many times and love it. I didn’t realize the weather app on my phone was still set to Raleigh and a few days ago I checked to see what the weather was going to be where I live and it said 89 degrees! Made this and it’s delicious and satisfying! The whole family loved it. We also eat it as meatloaf the next day for something new and you can put a bunch of cooked mushrooms and onions on it with some bbq sauce. It need sauce or ketchup and mustard because it’s not hugely flavorful because no salt but I’m okay with that! Thank you for the recipe!

I made this tonight but mine came out pasty so I just made burgers which are in the oven now. Based on what the batter taste like I think it’s going to be fantastic!! I did put the balsamic in with the onions, mushrooms, garlic and tomato paste…it was so yummy just tasting it without baking it…can’t wait for it to be done!! Yummy, kind of like a "Meatloaf " sandwich! If you want to have a good Bun, O'doughs makes a yummy vegan gluten-free square bun and they are very good! 👍❤

Yes, it would change the consistency. They wouldn’t be as firm or have as much texture. I think it would still make a burger though. 👍

Thank you for no added oil, it is really nasty stuff that is most often used in veggie burger recipes. Looks delicious.
What could you substitute for beans? Can’t do beans, soy or lentils.

There really isn't a substitute. It is the thing that binds it together. You can make it without it but the burgers won't stay together as well and they won't be as firm.

this looks so good :D and gf!!! yay! i've really struggled with going GF :(. I'm allergic to quinoa (i used to eat it about 20+ years ago no prob, when you could only buy it from health/specialty stores...once it became popular & commonplace & was available in grocery stores I found it made me violently ill...& I always bought organic..so sad as its such an awesome food)...so i'm wondering if short grain brown rice would be an ok sub? Thanks Jill! BTW you look very lovely today :D

I just fried them in a pan on my countertop burner. It is just for filming. Stovetop burner works better.
