It's a bloody great shelter Andy. You will have many great nights there and around that firepit you built. The ambiance with the fire and the lamps, the beer and that spatchcock chicken is mouthwatering. Have a great trip with Simon👍👍

I guess that the quiet videos seem to be a thing on UA-cam but I LOVE when you are talking and enjoying your camp. ASMR is overrated!!!!! IMO. You are by far one of the best camp/cook videos out there.

So absolutely agree with you. I am really really not fond of silent videos. I love when you talk it really helps with my depression and makes me feel like I’m a part of. So I so agree with your comment I will watch it only because I love his channel but really don’t like silence like this

Being a self confessed introvert and somewhat anti social, I thoroughly enjoy watching your videos when I'm off in my local forest in my shelter waiting for my food to cook. I've introduced my kids to you as well, you're a fantastic role model and exactly who I want my kids to be exposed to. You translate as an extremely authentic and genuine person and having known people like you in my time I can tell that you are just one of the good ones. So I just wanted to take the time to say thank you for the time and effort that you place into your videos, thank you for the knowledge that you share with the viewers, so much knowledge these days has a value attached to it, you share selflessly and through your passion of bushcraft etc. It's refreshing and uplifting, so thank you. I hope you have continued success and I hope you get loads of gear sent to you from sponsors, because if there's anyone who deserves it, it's you. From an Andrew up north to an Andrew down south, all the best 🙂

Love your fire pit/wood stove Andy. You have a great camp there. Another stellar meal. Nice to have the awesome shelter so you do not have to erect your tent etc. Gives you more time to enjoy the surroundings and cook then have a cold one or two. So comfortable and you have that extra protection from wildlife. Will you ever attach a skin to cover the opening to protect you from the elements. It is so amazing how comfortable you can be and the great meals you can cook without all the modern conveniences. You are definitely a outdoorsman with class, not mentioning how very clever and resourceful you are. Well Done! Such an inspiration.

    Feedback Andy, not criticism.
Very well produced video in the Swedwoods style, but it's not you.
A characteristic of your style is your engagement with the viewer coupled with the excellent content.
I found myself losing interest in this video, where that has not happened before with your content. As I say, an observation not a criticism. I know you are trying out different styles and content, so I hope feedback gently given and, I hope, gently received, helps to hone your content. 👍👍.

I am no camper or outside enthusiast, however I do find you videos very relaxing, instructive, informative and very enjoyable, and your food recipes and culinary skills in the wild are quite superb, not what I expected to be honest. However your lack of appreciation of wine rather than beer is always a major disappointment which I fail to understand.
Where I live en SW France when enjoying a night outside with du vin bien sur et cognac, the first requirement is a repellant for all the mossies etc, donc I am genuinely intrigued …. as you seem to make no attempt to manage these little buggers in the wild? Also my wife does enquire regarding your toilet facility arrangements for this long term project.
You really should add decent French wine to your back pack …. I mean to say drinking warm beer or larger is a sacrilege!

Having a fire usually keeps a lot of the creepy crawlies away, night bugs/animals don't take kindly to the light, heat, and smoke. Mosquitos in particular don't like the smoke...

Please tell me that wasn't a bacon and ketchup sandwich... Please!

I love ketchup, but not with bacon. Ketchup and backed beans? Yes please! Ketchup and roasted or fried potatoes? Yes, please! Ketchup and eggs? Sure, why not!

I can’t talk following surgery a few years ago, I don’t like the side effects of the surgery but I love not talking and wouldn’t go back to being a talking person, it’s impossible to explain but it’s peaceful, not thinking about providing a verbal account or making repetitive unnecessary small talk. Your not someone who blathers on anyway, but hopefully this was a peaceful experience for you too. Practically it can be very difficult but emotionally it’s overlooked or misjudged not as a positive..

I was in Yorkshire, for a wild camp. I'd set up my bivvy, and was digging a fire pit to do my cooking on. As I was removing turf, I noticed there was stuff buried there, and I set to, to dig it up. At first, it was those massive ashtrays, that you used to find in pubs, and after a fair few of those I started to dig up old pewter tankards that you still see in some pubs, and under a fair few of those, I started to find pictures of dogs playing poker and snooker, like you sometimes see in pubs.
I realized then, that I was on Ilkley Moor bar tat!

No disrespect on the flint and steel skills, but you could have just used the lanterns you already lit, or just used another match. No judgement! And that roof looked dry as heck, glad to see you watered it. An earth roof is crap unless you have moss or grass growing on it to break up the rainfall.

  • @stephencampbell9384
    @stephencampbell9384 2 роки тому

Parched soil is REALLY hydrophobic.....hence all the water running straight off the roof. Best practise in such conditions is to toss a bucket up there, then another an hour later and another an hour after that.....the first two will wet enough soil so the third can wet the rest properly.

We were taught from a really young age, you never ever take chicken into the bush hunting or tramping, too many risks of food poisoning, other meats no worries, but never ever chicken, that salmonella is a killer when you are many hours or days away from help.

I hope ASMR isn’t going to be the normal videos from now on. No interaction at all made it quiet boring compared to your other videos
