Maybe its because I'm sober by choice now for about a year, but I have heard multiple stories like the dry wedding one, and just can never wrap my head around adult human beings getting *so* mad that events they go to are dry. Like? Ok? If you simply can't see any benefit to going to your friend's wedding other than the bar at the reception then maybe look inwards? Or, as Tony mentioned, do any of the plethora of other options they listed to drink later on your own. Idk, it just seems like such a weird hill to die on to me.

I could agree with you, I wouldn't care if a wedding was dry - and I would certainly never send a bill... however, if I went to a wedding of people I knew for sure were drinkers and I spent a bunch of extra money on things so I could participate in the drinking - I would be annoyed that they didn't give a heads up. I still would have gone, I don't drink too often anyway - but knowing ahead of time would change how I approached it, and saved me alot of planning and money!

100 points for wife in first story. Recipe 1.5 cups sugar ==> 1.5 cups salt. Justified!

Wait I can’t believe candy thunder missed the 20 weeks and body insecurities from pregnancy. He already went to a strip club and tried to cover it up , now he is acting shady and that poor woman must be in hormone hell . For the first time I think this should be off the scale of definitely TA .

14:34 fun fact, a law degree is not required to take the bar exam in most states. If he really wanted to be a lawyer he could self teach and just take the bar exam

I'm essentially sober, I have maybe 2 drinks a year. If I made DD arrangements and got a room close to the venue for a wedding and then say.. the wedding was canceled I would be mad. I assume there is drinking at all social engagements unless otherwise stated. I simple, hey everyone we are having a dry wedding would have solved this. They could have saved so much and been able to go do something later, like they did

No law school until all his bills are paid, and she finishes. Plus him going back to school allows him to excuse himself from helping more out with the baby.

Sorry Dusty but being pregnant is NOT a do/act anyway you want card. There was no emergency just her wanting random daily chit chat when he’s 2k miles away… I got an idea go do something with your friends or family to fill the time. Definitely ASSCON 3 for being so needy and overreacting IMO

I completely agree. Let him be with his boys. Don't expect him to text right away. He's there to celebrate his friends bachelor party.

I drink alcohol, what is everyone’s problem? If I got somewhere and discovered it was dry I would be a little bummed but it wouldn’t stop me from having a good time and certainly wouldn’t make me feel entitled to money back especially at a wedding where I know they have spent a lot to invite me! People need to take a drinking break maybe and remember how to loosen up and have fun a without alcohol every now and again! This is eye opening to how many people rely on it

The problem is they spent money they wouldn't have had to had they known. Why did they hide it until the reception?

Would agree with you if he didn’t send the message asking for money back, I get being disappointed, I get leaving early, I get sending a message saying wtf why no heads up? but to ask for money back oh hell no. Whatever he spent the hosts spent more in order to invite him, they invited him to celebrate their marriage,l and love, drinking isn’t a requirement for that, he is not entitled to money back because he couldn’t drink, that’s crazy levels of entitlement and shows he didn’t actually care about the couple celebrating their love and marriage

@ishybelle have you noticed how bad the economy is? Splurging for a fun night out so you're safe to find out you you wasted the money is BS. I rarely have A drink but if I planned for a night out and found out when I got there, I'd be missed! Not hard to let people know

My husband and I had a dry wedding because I had health issues involving alcohol and my husband never drinks by choice. We did inform people on the invitation that it was dry. Didn’t stop people from going to the bar next door to drink during the reception. 🙄 (including MIL)

39:22 normally I would agree had the couple informed people before the event that it was a dry wedding, keyword before. I think that people tend to not be as upfront about dry weddings because they are afraid people won’t come if it is. But I think if you are honest about it and why you’re doing it then the people who care about you will still be there. I had a child free wedding on Halloween and I understood that it would mean that a lot of people wouldn’t be able to come and I accepted that fact.

    That last story 😵‍💫🫨🤯
OP's parents are psychotic. I cant imagine ever doing anything like that to anyone, let alone my own child. Makes me wonder what they bought.
