My dad lost his wife of 44 years 5 years ago. He died last month 1.5 hours after he turned age 92. I cranked up his old ford ranger and this song was playing in the cd player.
VERN WAS A WONDERFUL FRIEND OF MINE, AND I DID A DUET OF HIS BIGGEST HIT WITH HIM - AT HIS REQUEST. WHAT AN HONOR! I'LL NEVER FORGET HIM, HIS MUSIC, OR HIS FRIENDSHIP. WHAT A GIFT...
I had a 1984 Toyota car and I was doing contracting in eight different states. I would cruise down the road listening to Vern through the night. His songs hit home because I really was lonely. But I had to keep going because I had a special needs child and I needed the extra money for medical stuff. It was the first job where I made good money ...$70-$100/hr. so I did it. Vern just knew how to express his loneliness and it seemed to help when I listened to him. I thank God it was for only a few years and my little boy is 41 years old now and getting by real well.
This is such a sad song but the words are so profound. Puts a simple argument in perspective when you talk to someone that's lost his wife. A great story song by one of the best voices in country music.
Vern Gosdin was even called the Voice by George Jones. George once said that if you want to hear great country music… then listen to Vern Gosdin. Try listening to him sing Do You Believe Me Now
For many years I knew and sang the words to this song with emotion and passion. It wasn't until years later that I finally got "Chiseled in Stone". The old man was talking about his wife's tombstone. Hit me like a brick wall.
I lost my beloved wife two years now, and every word the old man said is exactly what a Widower feels and experience's all thru this journey without them here with us in this life.
One of the most Beautiful songs I have evva heard, I have listened to it for years. It really hits home, such a true song in them words. 36 with my wife and she's been gone now 9 months, loneliest feeling in the world. Love your reaction Tasha!!!
Vern Gosdin was my daddy's favorite singer so I know a lot of his songs Here's some great Vern Gosdin songs for you I can give you more if you want but I thought I'd start with these : "The garden" ,"That just about does it" , "Set'em up Joe", " If you're going to do me wrong (do it right)" , "This ain't my first rodeo"
Hello Dear I bought this album yes album about a year after it had been released.(89) .. back then there were a lot of new country artists coming out .. George strait was kinda new ..ricky van shelton , keith whitley who passed away young, they were great and still are... and shortly a few years later alan jackson, clint black , travis tritt , etc all very very good but this guy was called THE VOICE for good reason I saw him at an amusement park in the late 90's he opened for a bigger star at the time and he was walking around after his set nobody near him and I walked up to him to tell him how great he sounded that night and a very down to earth man... I never stayed for that featured act
NOT to be critical, but you kinda missed the point/meaning of the song title. "You don't know lonely 'til it's chiseled in stone" means you really don't know "loneliness" until someone has died and their name is "chiseled in stone" on a Tomb/Headstone. A VERY POWERFUL song. AND, i LOVE watching your videos!
That just about does it , is another great song that Vern does. Side story, I was sitting in a bay talking to an old man about my age. He was tolling me how his wife had recently passed due to lung cancer, and someone played this song on the Juke Box. I could not believe how coincidental that was.
Tasha, please keep on checking out Vern. Waylon Jennings called him, "The Voice." HIs voice is incredible. Listen to "Is It Raining At Your House." He has so many!
Vern Gosdin, “The Voice”. A name given to him for good reason! Great song. I also love his song “Do You Believe Me Now”. I’d love to see your reaction to “The Highwomen”. It’s a rewrite of “The Highwaymen” but from a female perspective. You may should hear the male version first. But they are both deeply moving!
Vern ,george jones and john anderson have the three voices that nobody else sounded like there was no mistaking them even if its a new song had just come out within three words you know who it is without a doubt rip to the greats
A couple other suggestions: Kate McCannon by Colter Wall. Without giving too much away…..it’s one that will kinda creep up on ya! 😳🤯 Only To Be With You by Judah & the Lion. One of the sweetest love songs written! The Letter by Read Southall Band. 😮💨 tear jerker for sure! Blues Man by Hank Williams Jr. It’s just a classic!!
i'm not a petreon, fixed income, but would someone who is please ask her to react to ray price for the good times. up until we are the world ,this was the most played song in the history of radio. best country song ever
I don't believe you've listened to any Gene Watson. He's another who was at the top of the country music gold back in the 70s and 80s with 5 #1 hits and over 20 top tens. My favorite being "Fourteen Carat Mind". ♥
I just wish he had said, you oughta “get down on your knees and thank your lucky stars”, would have been better if “get down on your knees and thank our Lord above” country music should always be rooted or reference our Father in heaven. That being said, it’s beautifully done.
They always compared George Jones and Vern Gosdin sound to each other. Veins nickname was the Voice.. I would like to hear your react to Red Sovine little Rosa I know you get alot of reaction requests. I've been a long time subscriber and I hope to get one request
Apparently this is my second time hearing this song 🤦🏾♀️
My dad lost his wife of 44 years 5 years ago. He died last month 1.5 hours after he turned age 92. I cranked up his old ford ranger and this song was playing in the cd player.
Vern Gosdin is a Country Music Icon.
VERN WAS A WONDERFUL FRIEND OF MINE, AND I DID A DUET OF HIS BIGGEST HIT WITH HIM - AT HIS REQUEST. WHAT AN HONOR! I'LL NEVER FORGET HIM, HIS MUSIC, OR HIS FRIENDSHIP. WHAT A GIFT...
A true classic, sang by one of the greatest.

Vern was simply known as The Voice, he had so many great songs. But my favorite is a Gospel song perfect for Easter called Love Rolled Away the Stone.

This is my favorite Vern Godsin hit.
Do I have a boy love country? CO UN TRY country music all day. We're going to do it every day all day
This is such a sad song but the words are so profound. Puts a simple argument in perspective when you talk to someone that's lost his wife. A great story song by one of the best voices in country music.
Hi Tasha! This song came out in 1988, the year my mom died. My dad listened to it often.Enjoyed your reaction,

Country music is a lot like the blues, it's about feelings.
I get goosebumps as soon as I hear Vern start singing this song. Since losing my wife this song hits me like a punch in the gut.

What a wonderful work that Vern did on this beautiful piece of wonderful song. So sad that Vern is not still with us!
Vern Gosdin was even called the Voice by George Jones. George once said that if you want to hear great country music… then listen to Vern Gosdin. Try listening to him sing Do You Believe Me Now
Vern is definitely a country music legend. ♥
Vern was fantastic! 👍🎶🎸
I always considered this and George’s He Stopped Loving Her Today as two of country’s saddest songs.
Yep
For many years I knew and sang the words to this song with emotion and passion. It wasn't until years later that I finally got "Chiseled in Stone". The old man was talking about his wife's tombstone. Hit me like a brick wall.
Well good, glad you understand the song now. Your knowledge will make the song even more poignant
Tears, every damned time
I lost my beloved wife two years now, and every word the old man said is exactly what a Widower feels and experience's all thru this journey without them here with us in this life.

One of the greatest country songs ever in my opinion.
