The Timbs special was drop dead gorgeous. To think of it that it was designed in 1947 can put a lot of new car manufacturers to shame. Very sorry to hear that it was lost in the fire.

So true. II was blown away by the Timbs Special! Such a unique design and a spectacular reasotation. Absolutely irreplacable! The only bright spot in this story is that Gary and his wife are ok.
To some, yes and maybe just part of the scenery to most. I was a child of the 1970s, and most people (not me) were blasé to the late 60s barracudas and chargers etc. which today even these are viewed as these godly, rare things. Back in the day, these were just big old Dad cars & rusted and scrapped without a care.
Incredible autos both of them. While watching this episode I looked up the mans collection only to learn that these two and the approximately 30 other impeccable autos in the garage and his house were all burned to ashes during the wildfires of 2018. So sad. I’m sure other collections were lost too. All that history gone in just a few hours time.

It's beyond a tragedy that these pieces of historic artwork were lost... truly sad to hear such news. I don't even own them and i feel the pain in their loss... hope the owner got what he was owed from insurance and was able to find solace somehow...i feel for him
I’m blown away by the red car. OMG wow. I built a kustom model from scratch like that red one in the early 60’s. I still have some of my one off model cars around. I was fixing up my 1955 Chrysler 300 2-Dr sedan delivery wagon with a blown hemi engine lowered to the ground and shaved smooth kool car.

WOW! Tim 48, no parking anywhere but your personal property. I wouldn't dare drive this in traffic for fear of damage or people wanting to touch it and you can't blame them. That paint job is one of a kind for sure.
Who can’t be completely disarmed seeing the Timm’s car for the first time. It’s so beautiful, if it were a pretty blue, you could call it an ocean wave. I’m pleased that the cars are so lovingly owned by someone who appreciates what he has with the assets to keep each work of Art perfect

I think that the Timbs Special is more than worthy for a tribute/rebuild to exacting specs. Gary would be the best man forthe job, knowing the car so intimately, and having recently restored it. It is just a car that needs to be in this world.

Rear end is very Blue Bird - Donald Campbells 1967 record breaker ! - looking at dates it was the Timbs that got there first with that radical air - slip wheel arch flare design - Both beautiful auto's with out of the box thinking ! Thankyou for sharing these beauties ! SB -British Isles !

I just watched a video of a young guy that flipped a '49 (I think) pick-up, end for end, so it looks as though it drives in reverse. VERY INNOVATIVE! The Timbs car looks like the body is flipped in the same way but is "purpose-built" that way. Again VERY INNOVATIVE and in as as much as the guy that built his truck this way as an after production CHANGE, (I'm SURE he knows nothing about the Timbs car) both are very ahead of their time, they both end up in the same place, but for different reasons. One because he liked the styling and one as a "novelty"!
Dennis, thank you for posting this video. The Italia is a beautiful car, and I think the design is amazing. It looks almost that a 280 SL is trying to squeeze its way out through those front brake scoops.
So few cars in the world anymore that actually have STYLE like that Timbs Special. Wow, one of the most beautiful cars I have ever seen. A real head-turner no matter where you go. One downside is that it would likely NOT fit in your garage nowadays! (Of course the people who buy these sorts of cars don't have mere two-car garages like us mortals...)
lordy, reading the comments here some folks don't seem to appreciate a thing of beauty! The Timbs scores zero for practicality (I live in a country with seasonally cold climate and stringent safety regulations) but is easily the most beautiful two-seater I've ever seen . As far as the Hudson Italia, my take is simple...I want one!!! Thank you Dennis for sharing these sci-fi-esque marvels of design.
I think the Hudson Italia is beautiful, the Italian influences belongs in the mountains and I think they showed it at its best. The Timbs is very unusual looking and I absolutely love it, especially when he started that motor. The only thing I've ever seen with three speed gears was a 60s push bike.
Very sad these are gone😩 The Hudson’s butt ugly and I love it, the red one, WTF! It would be a new experience, driving a car where the front end is always in a different zip code than the back!😂

If someone started those fires they better go to jail for what they did to not only for these cars but for what they did to everyone else

A beauty like that has no margin for cutting corners, if someone decides that they would like to try and mold a 17 ft fiberglass body WITHOUT the derailed custom interior, instrumentation, engine, transmission, they would quickly find out that disgusting sound of driving a 17 ft rigid cardboard box with minimal internal bracing is not very appealing, safe, or as maneuverable as it may seem. The Timbs Special was THE Special one off
At first glance at the paint/finish on the Timbs, it resembled that of singer Bobby Darin's car on display at the Museum of Transportation (Kirkwood, MO). If memory serves this unique paint job had diamond bits added to the paint! I surely hope these cars weren't completely gutted in the fire last year! CA is a huge beautiful state with so many infrastructure problems...
Went to watch this, without knowing that they no longer existed !!! Hope the all the people in Ca. will get though this somehow, God will help them, just ask.

You get rear ended in the Timbs and you wouldn't know it for 2 days.

the timbs special. has the back end of the bluebird that cambell used for the water speed record and sadly died doing this .
both are stunning cars .
