It's commendable that Ron and other car collectors take the time to share their cars with the general public. I had never heard about a Stout Scarab, fun and strange little car.
Too bad '30s people thought this car was sh!t. It's basically the Pontiac Aztek's ancestor.
@@Cat-fy5lw $$$$5k, you're wrong on SOO many levels. F a Pontiac Aztek
That is one of the most futuristic looking classic cars I have seen in a long time.
Try looking at the 1955 Chrysler
Just glad he got it before Jay Leno did!
Check out a Tucker. ua-cam.com/video/WrR-EjOLUrY/v-deo.html
@@ST-xg3gy Jay's a great guy. I would have no problem with him owning this.
Excellent episode. If you passed that unassuming man on a sidewalk, you'd never dream he has a warehouse full of beautiful cars and endless knowledge about each of them.
I’ve had the privilege to see this vehicle in person. This exact one I believe. Simply breathtaking
No you didn't.
Jon Hohensee 😂
Old Skool is the backbone...
My wife's grandfather had Lincoln Zephyr in the 60's era, and he used for taxi cab in Sao Paulo Brazil. Until the day he pass away he talked about his Lincoln. Cheers to you all!
My dad restored that Stout Scarab for Ron Schneider! Dad you are so talented : )
Cool.
shannon carlson
That's awesome and he definitely did wonderful work.
Shannon does your dad still restore cars?
wah!
Neat!
That's wonderful
That Scarab is the epitome of Art Deco automotive design. LOVE IT!
It's basically an airplane that died and was reincarnated as a car. You can see it in the ribbed split window, the long body, the way the doors work, the tubular frame steel frame with the panels wrapped around it, and the airtight sealing. Did I mention that the aerodynamic styling is also a dead giveaway?
That Scarab is an impressive machine. Looks like something straight out of a comic book.
You're an idiot.
I'm not the only one who read that as "That Scarab is has impressive mustache", right?
@@h8GW haha, it's John Astin's moustache.
the interior of that Stout is very much airplane oriented...really awesome!
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I absolutely adore the Scarab. You can see how it got it’s name. I love it. 👌🏼
That Stout Scarab looks amazing.
how many cars does Jay Leno own?
the other 4, probably
texasBMXer wow this is a death trap
Its ugly & fancy at the same time! Which makes it very weird & unique.
In so many ways.
Stunning art deco vehicle...love the table and rear seats, a real gentleman's retreat. I'd love to write a book in there while drinking whiskey. Absolutely the most wonderful machine on earth. Cheerio!
@ron marninks I'm seeing what I've never seen before.
WOW! I bet you really turn some heads driving through town in that 1936 Stout Scarab. What a collector's item, a rare gem. Ron has many beautiful gems there in his garage. Thank you both for sharing.
That is possibly the most interesting car I have ever seen.
This car is the most remarkable car I have ever seen! And to see it in action, too! Most such cars would be in a museum, and you would SEE them, but NEVER find out what they are like! And how smooth the engine is! Real quality, including how the passenger door opens from outside, at the touch of a button ! In its day, I would DEFINATELY have bought one!
Wow I'm not really a car guy but these are all beautiful, beautiful vehicles. I'm gushing over these vehicles here. Ron has incredible taste. The artistry and attention to detail of these old vehicles is very impressive, and gives me a new appreciation for the spirit of those times
Why can’t people design futuristic cars like that today it was light years ahead of anything on the road at the time and really cool looking!
Mass produced cars have to be relatively bland to appeal to the broadest market, unfortunately.
@Selim Sultan Akbar I mean does anyone think a modern Chevy, Chrysler, ford, or Mercedes look interesting?
@@TeenageShutdown01 In 1936, outside rearview mirrors clamped on the edge of the door.
@Selim Sultan Akbar not nice
Selim Sultan Akbar Do you have anger management issues? Jeez! Calm down!
wow that scarab is totally beautiful - looks like those cars are in good hands
It's a ugly car
Cheese chisel? What a SURREALIST name! The car is REMARKABLR, but so are YOU!
That van looks better than most current versions.
In all my 70 years I never seen a car as cool as that Scarab. Wow!
Yeah!! It's tera cool, and I'm 72, now...
What a sublime, unique, and eminently cool vehicle! As always, Dennis, thank you for including us in your exploits and travels. Much appreciated 👍
I had a dream about the Scarab after watching this.
That is a BEAUTIFUL minivan. So cool! So far out! It looks so awesome!
I've never seen a Torino Squire wagon. Didn't know it existed.
The man has his own museum. Amazing. Great to see a Scarab on the road moving. It's always a different experience to see them moving. Cool!
I remember them; nice cars until they started rusting. The hidden headlights were added for 1970, I believe. Those early-1970s Fords always looked as if they fell asleep, even back then. I wonder what kind of reaction a car like that would get on the road today.
I grew up riding in a Torino Squire Wagon.. they were great cars! We drove from Ohio to Maine once and back, I never got car sick
In the early '90s I saw a great original Torino Ranchero with the original decal trim on it. This was in the same town I saw a 1956 VW Westphalia Kombi, all original in. I also saw a Citroen 11cv traction avanti. It was full of retired Cold War officers. I even saw a few LHD Datsun Zs.
What a great car. Even now itr looks futuristic.
What a beautiful vehicle! I wish I had one!!!
This car collection is awesome. The dude who was showing his collection is so cool. Very laid back and knowledgeable on his collection. Wish he was my neighbor.
I saw a Scarab at the Frist Museum in Nashville, Tn. a few years ago. I was so enamored I saw it on four occasions
. It is beautiful.. The doors have mother of pearl buttons. It is the most beautiful and interesting car I have ever seen. It was a silver scarab with crimson interior. Absolutely amazing.
Love this car. What a piece of artwork.
Without a doubt one of the coolest things I’ve seen on wheels
Honestly the coolest vehicle I’ve never seen or heard anything about. Way to go Denis. A great watch can’t wait to show others this video
The Stout Scarab is one car I wish I could buy a replica or kit of. I love it!!!!
What an amazingly strange vehicle. I love it
Very impressed with Ron's collection.
Love the Lincoln Zephyr we see.
The Stout definitely has the internal design aesthetics of a 1930s aircraft.
After the second world war ended the bean counters at many factories snuffed many concepts that were attained pre war.
Thanks for this lovely video and to Ron Schneider.
Art Deco design of the Era, and a work of art.
The Scarab does resemble an insect and it is huge. Nice collection.
I saw a Scarab, possibly this one, at an exhibit of futuristic vehicles for their time. Very cool looking vehicle. Nice to see the video after seeing the vehicle in person.
Jeez that thing is freaking gorgeous! I want something that looks like that.
Feeling a little down? Dennis and Scarab will turn it around. Wonderful humans and great fun car. Thanks.
That Scarab looks amazing.
I still have the small picture, from one of those automotive day-by-date tear- off calendars, from the mid 90s of a Scarab. It’s literally the most beautiful example of a vehicle from the Art Deco period!
Thanks so much for the upload ! And thank heavens this isn't another Jay Leno's garage video
$5,000.00 in 1936 is the equivalent of $89,300.00 in 2018. No wonder not many of
these Depression era cars sold.
Wow very cool.
You could buy a nice house for 5k back then.
oldschoolman 144 You could buy a mansion.
The Stout Scarab is beautiful! I would love to see it in person.
Ugly not beautiful
@@leeannkaluakini1890 It's certainly unusual, but I don't call it ugly.
Dennis I'm jealous you have all the fun but thank you for taking us along on a very informative episode.
What a fantastic car collection. Love the art deco Lincoln Zephyr & Scarab.
Hope that Citroen SM returns to the road.
That's what I was thinking.
What a life Ron Schneider lives, eh? And the Scarab is as unique a vehicle you'll ever find.
Never thought of V8 in rear!! Certainly head turner!! Awesome!!
Look up the Czech Tatra 603, and 613 models, then! Only available originally to Communist Party officials! But Stylish!
The Zephyr V12 with 'suicide door' is beautiful!!
I so want this to make my kids ride in it. Whether they really love it or hate it.
I have to honestly say (that even though I'm not a car enthusiast) the 1936 Scarab minivan is a neat looking car!
Personally I am perplexed about why this is described as a minivan! Is that how multi-person vehicles are described in America? Volkswagen had their goods VAN, but they described the people carrying versions ad a MiniBUS
Love, love, love this video! All that imagery and art neauvo style! Wicker upholstery, chrome lines, stylish air vents. While listening to the owner give the history of the vehicle.
THAT WAS... MAGNIFICENT!
Thank you so much!
What a ride! I've always been fascinated with these scarabs.
I've collected pictures over the years.
This video was amazing!
Now if we can sneak a peak at a Phantom.... I'd be on cloud 9.
😎 wonderful garage Ron
So good, I almost felt like I was caught doing something wrong
LOL!
Great car. What a piece of engineering. Certainly well ahead of its time!
This is one fascinating automobile!
This car looks perfect today, I want the same design car!
Boy that was a good find what a cool looking car that is good job
The clearance on that scarab is amazing.
That us the coolest thing I have seen. So cute! Stylish! Why better than a Minni van.
I wouldn't have known what it was if I pulled up behind it but that rear end would have commanded my full attention!
What, like KYLIE MINOGUE?
Mr Schneider the good german out there in Wisconsin! What a great car guy. That Scarab is amazing lol.
Awesome video!!! The Scarab is outrageous!!! Love to own one!!!
Stout was ahead of his time. Ron Schneider gives a good account of the car and the others he owns.
Extremely beautiful and elegant glides on the road regards
I truly appreciate your highly educated videos, hopefully more will seem them and become inspired to either rebuilding and restore old vehicles, or simply invent new ones.
I love how he knows his cars so well.
That is so beautiful and well designed! Inspired by god (scarabeus), made from aluminum, so no wories with rust + my favourite car interior alignment design (living room) with rotational seats I prefer, oh, what a car!
Oh what a delightful car thanks for showing it
I noticed it has a South Wind gasoline heater hanging under the dash. That thing burned gasoline by tapping into the intake manifold below the carb. It was on or off. 'On' soon made the rubber floor mat get hot and start smoking. Turning it off was the answer! It severely reduced MPG! but was instant on and really poured out the heat which was great in frigid central PA!
Cool guy has some really neat stuff.
I love how Dennis always guesses the correct year
Do you think it may have been rehearsed LOL
Ron Schneider is like a professor. This guy really knows his stuff and what he is collecting. Well done.
What a beauty! Definitely a very impressive relic.
I knew this car from books in my youth. Never knew it still existed.
That Scarab is magnificent. God forbid one of those burn but with all that magnesium that would be one HOT white fire.
Form following function.
Beauty is in the design details.
Ha! The Scarab looks a bit like a something out of a Tim Burton film. I'd drive that in a heartbeat♥️ Thanks for the great video!
Scarab is an impressive machine
5/18/2019 and 216 idiots have thumbed down this absolutely wonderful video. Thanks for this ride back in time when there were motor cars!
& one idiot had to complain about it.
Wonderful👍
"your first time is always the most memorable" so very true :)
I love it! Fantastic car. Hope to see one in person someday, if I ever visit the States.
Nice COLLECTION of cars. I would like to drive one. Just to see them wow.
Beautiful car, wish they made more of them. I would love to drive or own one of these
Maybe I'll build me a copy of one of these someday. And build copies of Scarabs for anyone who wants them. *Insert smug SpongeBob face*
Love your shows Dennis very cozy in the garage working on my Barra loads of positive car love from us here in Tasmania... Australias capital of car nuts!
"Nuts" are something contained in the scrotum!
quite an ecclectic collection!
Undoubtedly, a minivan so creamy that makes you want to make a replica on the outside, being a camper van inside.
Welcome back to Ron's classic cars
gosh, that would be a FINE road car for trips!
Looks awesome! Just when I thought I've seen every car...
Beyond brilliant! A bit sad I hadn't heard of this until today, but wow, super sweet! Nice coverage!
Absolutely awesome. I know some might roll their eyes, but just look at that style. I am a wagon lover, and a guy fond of the 40's and early look (Mcfly anyone?) It's unique, like Gremlin unique. But I certainly adorn that style.
I N C R E I B L E....... afortunado de tener esos vehiculos...😎
thats funny that they just sat a couple loose chairs in the car. What a different era and really interesting car
Wow close to 6yr after this video was uploaded and I've never seen this vehicle EVER. Sure is gorgeous compared to the average ugly minivan one sees on the roads. The interior sure is nice and that engine for the size delivers good power and acceleration. Nice find!
One of my favorite features is the dashboard. I LOVE the way the gauges look.
Amazing looking car.
Beautiful ! TYSM for sharing this video . I really wish some company would offer a kit to make your own. a limited run of 250 kits would easily sell out .
Percy Barbarossa>>. When kits are made the finished product has to pass modern codes to be insurable. This lump o' tin is a widow maker. If you want one for your museum that badly: you'll find one. No one's going to go bankrupt for you whims.!
That Lincoln Zephyr looks cool, too.
I saw a Scarab about 30 or so years ago at a small car museum at Stone Mt., GA, I think. Unrestored, but beautiful....and weird.
Nice Torino Squire. My parents had one, same color scheme as that one. Light Ivy Yellow was the name of that color. Nice bunch of cars.
