So happy to see one of my favorite one-offs rebuilt. I was fortunate enough to see it on display in 2015, so I was distraught when I heard it was in the fire. I owe a lot to this guy!
So thrilled that Gary Cerveny had the fortitude to restore this very special and unique vehicle - TWICE! I could only imagine the degree of loss that he and his family felt after the Malibu fire. When he stated that this car would 'rise from the ashes', I had no doubt that he would make it happen and followed the developments closely. Very nice presentation done here that captures that journey and the special features that make this vehicle so remarkable. Thanks for sharing this!
It was an absolute pleasure meeting Gary and I agree his perseverance and dedication is amazing considering the uphill battle he faced! The car is really amazing and spectacular in person, a joy to see it up close and admire the workmanship. Thanks for the great comment! 👍
Hats off to Gary Cerveny for restoring this amazing work of rolling art that is the Timbs Special, not once but TWICE! I felt so badly for them when the car was heavily damaged in the CA fire. Shortly after came word that it would literally 'rise from the ashes'. I've been following the developments and was so thrilled to see this being shown again. Truly the KING of custom cars!
I didnt know it was re build, im really very happy. When i FIRST saw this car, my jaw dropped… when I came to know it was destroyed by a fire I was very very sad about it. Im so happy now
This whole story is almost as beautiful as that piece of rolling engineering art. I was expecting fiberglass and should've known better from the venue.

That's a beautiful and slippery looking car body with awesome paint. And it was built in 1948!

Thanks so much for watching and for your kind words! I agree it is a great story, and I was very enriched meeting Gary, and speaking with him!
Would hate to be parked next to this at the show. Would be be like opening for Elvis.
Hahaha!
through the years the articles I remember spelled Timbs with two m's
Interesting that the current owner did not…
