Today I learned that Chadwick Boseman is 41 years old. I thought he was like 25.
Ikr.
same and I will forever be in shock
yeah , me too. I thought he was 28 or 30
you're kidding. no fucking way.
WTF
Hugh Jackman always looks so interested in everything people are saying. He's not waiting for his turn to talk, instead, he's just simply enjoying the company. That's very admirable especially for an actor of his caliber.
They all seem to do this.... Great men!
True.
And Richard E Grant is likewise sat there beaming away, soaking it all in.
Met Jackman a few times, and he was consistently a gentleman.
That's just him man, super positive and respectful human being.
This interview hits different in 2021, when one of those people is no longer with us. RIP Boseman.
Yes, couldn't bring myself to watch it at first, but glad I did
R.I.P CHADWICK BOSEMAN WE LOVE & MISS YOU KING❤
Definitely.
As soon as he started talking about success and his story I shed a couple tears. RIP
But they didn't pay homage to him at the Oscars, sad.
"I'm not a perfectionist, I'm just insecure" felt that
Same!!
Who said thatttt
19:24 hugh jackman
Mood tbh
Being a perfectionist is really a personality. Some people have their moments of perfectionism, but it's an experience. Unfortunately, it has become as they say in this round-table a word people use incorrectly to hide their insecurities among other things. Perfectionist personalities only make up 10% of the population. It's unfortunate that the negative connotations and potential pitfalls of perfectionism are often emphasized more prominently, leading to misunderstandings.
RIP Chadwick Boseman. He truly was, a “boss man”
He seems weak, he's eyes tell you everything that he's weak

They're all lookers too

Viggo Mortensen has probably been one of the most culturally and intelectually devoted people in the industry for quite some time now
@@briankeogh335 Is he seen as uncultured/dense? The only thing I knew about him is that he speaks about 5-6 languages, which is why I'm surprised he seems to have made this impression before.

Timothee's level of confidence in this roster of respectable actors is amazing.

Takes gut and courage. Luckily Timothee has it all.
I think he comes from the right social background. However, he doesn’t come across as entitled, arrogant or spoiled.

Same here. Damn I have never been more entranced by such a serious interview. This was so interesting.

@@aharonemanuel4010 ?
Chadwick be talking deeper than the rest, I watched this months ago, revisiting it? They all are talking real and amazing, but he spoke more emotionally. Imma leave this here.
❤️
What did he mean by that?
It's heartbreaking listening to Chadwick. He devoted himself, _completely,_ to succeeding as an actor
and just as he breaks from the crowd and is on the verge of joining the A-List Gods of Hollywood, he's diagnosed
with inoperable colon cancer.
Don't be sad about what he could've been, be happy for what he accomplished :)
Can’t watch Chadwick Boasman for too long without shedding a tear. He comes with such a reverence, expertise AND humility about his craft.

Stop lying you prick
He will forever be my son’s favorite actor. For that I am proud and saddened….
This is the most comfortable I've seen Timothee in an interview in a LONG time
Watch the one he did with Emma Stone. Awesome interview, he was really comfortable in that one as well.
“LONG TIME” Haha he’s been famous for like 3 seconds
Farhana Akthar he looks like he’s just soaking up all the knowledge like a sponge🙂
Laura Jusu *couple years*
Safiyah Leane lol that’s a very very very short period of time in Hollywood
I love how Timothée Chalamet is humble and respects the fact that the actors around him are more experienced and that he genuinely pays attention and appreciates what everyone is saying, but at the same time all the other older actors sitting around him are also paying attention to what he is saying. It's just amazing to see the mutual respect each of them have for each other.
honmatres1 well said!
I’m looking forward to seeing how Timothee’s career progresses.
I mean consider his age. These are literally the megastars he has looked up to as a kid. And now he is sitting at the table talking with them and Hugh Jackman is giving him advice. I can only imagine how surreal that must feel.
Classic case of game recognizing game. Say what you will Timothee is young, but a naturally talented actor and I think all the people at the table can recognize that.
Roman griffin should learn this thing from timothee.
the fact that chadwick knew he was dying during this and was so clear and humble says everything...RIP, brother
Man, Viggo Mortensen doesn't speak much, but when he does, there is so much behind it, it's brilliant.
This is how our English teachers want our Socratic discussions to be!
aha they wish

They really out here thinking we are this smart
Mr Gomes no it’s not discussions about any certain philosopher. It’s based off the different topics ur learning (for instance an essay ur class just wrote or a book you all read) and u all have to have a conversation that has certain checkpoints in order to get ur points for the grade. It’s always just been really awake and and forced to me. Doesn’t flow naturally.
Mr Gomes yeah its really just topics that mostly nobody really cares about. And there is a certain amount of times you HAVE to talk to get a good grade. So it leads to a very monotonous discussion
to see timothee sitting with all of these people make me so proud of how far he has come

Agreed!! The Hugh just talk and took his time without him interrupted. Uggghhh
He cuts people off often , maybe for time , but that one was the most horrible of the ones I’ve watched. Geez.
Watching Timothée conduct himself makes me think of when you're asked: "Who would you have as guests at your ideal dinner party?" You can see the reverence he has for all of them as he listens rather than trying to jump in and have his say. Everything that he says is deliberate and well-thought. That said, you can also see him grow more comfortable as the interview progresses, particularly as these acting giants nod along and essentially validate his own perspective and don't merely dismiss him as young or inexperienced. They all clearly were engaged and eager to hear his thoughts. Truly a great discussion and a fascinating group of actors.

This is the hands down BEST, most calming roundtables ive ever seen.
YEEEEEEEEES!
Hugh give it that vibe
What Chadwick says at the end, about drawing the line about which parts of your private life you're willing give up in exchange for fame, takes a whole new meaning in retrospect. He knew people would have wanted to know that he was running out of time. But he didn't share that, because it would've made people look at him differently, and he didn't owe that information to the world. He wanted to be known for his art and that alone, and that is commendable.
Thank you for acknowledging that. Couldn’t put in to words.

Blue Billowy more important? They’re all wonderful actors and timothee is, in comparison, much earlier on in his career. Therefore, I’d say he’s massively important and there’s no reason anyone shouldn’t come here for any of the them

26:36 when Hugh asks Timothee "which one?" i'm pretty sure he meant which high school and timmy answered with which teacher.. so precious
god i love him
I thought he was genuinely asking which teacher because he used to be a teacher. If anyone knows how appreciated that would be, it's Hugh Jackman.
Pretty sure he asked about the teachers not the school cuz he only asked after he had mentioned teachers.
He asked “Which one?” after Timothee said there were a number of teachers at his alma mater he could mention.
Think Hugh jackman has done a bunch of work in the Theater community broadway etc in NYC so he maybe was interested if he knew the the name of the teachers Form own experience
Everytime Viggo says something, you can see in everyones eyes that they are inspired.

Yes
Real actors know how to do that. Real true, deep listening is the essence of real acting. Surprise!
That always impresses me in all these roundtables
It's really a beautiful thing. They're so thoughtful and they're all a beautiful balance.
The setting also helps. Having an actual round table during a round table. No background noise, no audience, the cameras are less intrusive than they're used to. And they all respect each other.
"That's success right there" -Chadwick responding to Timmy w regard to for the first time being able pay your bills doing what you love. It's so god damn true. When you are doing what you love, just even realizing that wow omg I can actually pay my bills doing this?! Like wtf! Hacks. That, right there, is making it. Being able to (even barely) pay your bills doing what you love. And it's like, you don't even need more than that. But more than that will come because you are just so happy doing what you do, so you're just going to attract wealth. It's a beautiful thing. Do what you love, people. Build your life the way that YOU want it
This is SO TRUE brother. Couldn't agree more
This is such a great point. Ever since I was a kid, I was so fascinated by weather. 20 years later here I am getting paid to forecast the weather and present it on tv. I truly feel so grateful to be paid to do what I love.
When you get real conversations like this, it allows the space for them to dig into what filmmaking really is: the human condition, as Mahershala Ali said, working through the chaos of life as Hugh and Viggo talked about. I really value these conversations.
These videos are strange in that they do two things simultaneously for me.
1) the discussion humanized the actors and shows just how relatable they are to the average person in that they have views, opinions, thoughts, and experiences like needing to pay bills for example.
2) the humility and artistic integrity of these thoughtful creators makes them seem like they're on a whole other level of operation and contribution to society that they might as well be gods, in a way.
They just know their craft very very well. You will get similiar deep conversation with other mastercraftsman from other jobs. Its about loving what you do, seeing the beauty in your craft and never stop learning.
#2 is just an unhealthy way of looking at someone in the public eye, but I see what you’re saying. It’s just the training they go through. Acting school can be and often is very intense bc you aren’t learning about a blue collar skill. Youre essentially in psychology class bc you’re learning how the human mind works. Without that kind of training, you can’t really act. It’s very intense. I call it the “Strasberg training.” That’s why most actors are very philosophical and talk so easily about their feelings, their thoughts thoughts, their experiences. They are very very articulate and very deep thinkers bc they’re trained that way. It’s kinda cool.
1:05:34 I love how they turn their heads in the exact same way at the exact same time xD

I mean, the movie (as well as music) industry today is full of fake and superficiality... Sorry for my bad English! :)
The entertainment industry has ALWAYS been driven by and full of fake and superficial people.
That's not new.
what the fck does being intelligent have to do with whether you like watching them or not....what a stupid statement
where did you see intelligent people in this video? No one made showed their intelligence here. Bunch of actors talking about how they socialise and how they portray real people. What is intelligent about that? I love some of them but i do not think they are something they are not.
like timothée, another pretty face, the irony.
The amount of modesty, experience, respect and wisdom displayed on this table is just amazing
Easily one of the best round table discussions THR has put out. Everyone brings something unique to the table.
Hugh Jackman is the most engrossed and looks so fascinated in everyone's story, idea and input. Makes you admire him more. This round table is amazing. Timothee Chalamet suprised me.
He's performing
I think in the same way Timothy Chalamet was there (his debute, Call Me By Your Name), Chadwick B was included. It wasn't because he is black; it is because of talent and the fact they want to have a good mix of different actors. I like the fact that these actors, young and old, can each share the experiences they have had in their careers. They are all learning from one another as far as I can see.
I bet Hugh will direct
"Story telling is about simply trying to understand the world we live in. And putting it in some mythological story form, so that we open our hearts, rather than just hearing or reading the newspaper, but we open our hearts to understand." - Hugh Jackman 48:48 He couldn't have said it any better, and it hit me HARD!
Yeesssss, and you also Kenyan Barbiee also put it simply and eloquently, story telling is so underrated, many cultures speak their whole histories back thru the ancestors.
This is by far my favorite of these interviews. Each actor is so interesting and crazy talented yet very down to earth, respectful, approachable and generous with their attention and conversation. Amazing interview
Watching this now and crying out loud for Chadwick... What a beautiful soul. I miss him
To think an individual can sit at a table next to someone , and not have a clue about the demons there fighting ...rest in peace Chadwick
All those people at that table have demons. No more or less than Chad. You don;t know what they're fighting inside.
Usually we don't see actors as intellectuals, but I felt like I was listening to a group of philosophers talking about life, although it revolves around acting. But the craft of acting can in itself bring to life the philosophy of human experience through their art work. As for Boseman, he was in a stage of his life where he was seeing things on a much deeper or more spiritual level due to his cancer battle. It's unfortunately that such a gifted individual was only around for a short time, but he still managed to leave so much in a short period of time to the world. But you can tell he had so much more to offer. Even Timothy despite being young is already showing a high level of maturity and intellect as an actor. Every actor on that round table brought something of substance to the conversation. This was a great round table overall.

The interviewer kinda looks like Mr. Bean :/
I wish he was more like him and not talk 🤣
Lmao
nala snail and he talks funnnu
Hank azaria
That what i was thinking
I really appreciate the depth of conversation by these men. It’s wonderful to see them light up as they listen and appear to have epiphanies sparked by their fellow actors.
One of the best round tables ever the conversation just kept flowing and they continuously picked on the things eachother stated to just dive deeper into explaining the craft
Hugh Jackman is the best listener ever.
Zuhâl Yilmaz Extrovert
imagine if teachers were a half as good as him
@@rusty111fire that's an incredibly stupid comment btw. Being an Extrovert has absolutely nothing to do with being a good listener because your inclination will be more towards Active interraction or being the talker. An Introvert is Way more likely to be a great listener vs an Extrovert because their inclination is NOT to be the talker, but listen before speaking. Maybe you meant Empath, but DEFINITELY wrong use of Extrovert lol.
@alara funfact: hugh jackman used to be a school teacher
@@pogobidio4313 yeah i know from that cute video when he met one of his students again lol
I now understand why Timothee is a special guy.
Folarin Osibodu your Late
Edit: just like this comment
His French side helps him separate
He’s absolutely gorgeouss
Iv just come back from watching wakanda forever and seeing chadwick here I'm in tears. The beautiful dedication they gave him in the film was heart rendering and so so beautiful. Sobbing through the film.
Timothee is so well spoken and intelligent
Richard E. Grant looks like every movie villain in any movie ever with that coat.
lol
Tino Hahaha
Ras Al Ghul
He deserved more roles in big moves
I was just seeing a clean version of Withnail.
Two of the greatest African American actors of the last two generations, one of the great British character actors, a young prodigy, a multi-lingual chameleon that deserves to be considered in the Oldman/Seymour Hoffman/Day Lewis category, and a versatile superstar in Hugh.
Greatness.
I was looking for a Hoffman mention. Glad.
Hugh is Overrated
Technically there’s 3 Africans lol
@@zararafridi1051 you can't do what he does honey
Actor,singer,dancer/performer etc
You are just a commenter lol
@@ande3200 Who is the 3rd?
I started watching this series just a few weeks ago, and I've been enjoying them all. That said, this conversation has truly been the best so far.
Am I the only person who is wathcing this video because I want to see again Chadwick Boseman talking and smiling... Living? He was one of my favourites actors. His notice got me so bad.
I can't believe Chadwick Boseman passed away. This video is the reason I became his fan. He really won me over with his intelligence and sincerity. He'll be missed. 😢
Right
