Always nice to hear content from a person who plays and is actually passionate about Sisters. Thank you
Alexis: She looks like she was hit in face with a shovel.
Kriegsman: glances around nervously.
Imagine being the Admech player; with no coherent strategy in the whole index, as your Guard-profile Skitarii Ranger squads cry about the fact that Battle Sisters with BS3+ are somehow cheaper than them, are forced to watch the obligatory detachment rule Rad nuke BLESSING the opposing army at the start of battle, witnessing the Sisters player uncontrolably grin whenever you manage to deal D3 mortal wounds on all their units and grating them +1 hit before the game even starts.
Truly, we upset the Omnissiah.
Ad Mech are in rough shape, rivalled only by Death Guard, but Sisters aren't in much better shape.
My understanding of the Palatine was that it's "each time a melee attack made by this model scores a wound" you get 1 mortal. So if all 4 attacks wound, it would be 4 mortal wounds in addition to normal damage. If you could somehow give her more attacks, then you could in theory do more mortal wounds.
THEY DROPPED CELESTIANS!!!! They dropped my favorite unit!
They also dropped the battle sanctum :(
Bizarre, haven't seen your channel a while and this video pops up.
Hilariously, I just bought some Sisters to kick start a 10th ed 40k army.
Last I played was 4th to 6th edition, with Marines, Guard and Chaos Marines.
Looking forward to this
Confirmation on the rules please for palatine. Core rules state that if ALL models in a unit have the scout ability they can make the pre game move. I don't believe that by adding a palatine to a unit that doesn't already have it will gift it scout.
yeah you are correct that my b.
Yeah, had to look at that one myself when building a list last night. I think if I do take a palatine I'll still run her with Novitiates though. Look forward to seeing you post a video covering various sister lists!
“I will keep my bitching to a minimum”
Starts trash talking the art
Blade of Saint Elynor on a Palatine turns her into a demi-cheese-sword canoness. Pop a miracle die, and her 5-6 strength 5-6 attacks do a mortal on wounds and an additional 3-4 damage at -2 AP.
With the stratagem to give +1 to wound, she can be wounding termies on 2's while giving her entire squad lethal hits.
If she's in a squad of Sacresancts with an Imagifier for +1 armor or Hospitaller for the 5+ FNP, that squad becomes a pretty substantial threat that's hard to shift.
Edit: fixed an oops.
Boy did the existence of this video prevent me from working on my lit review tonight
One thing you seem to have missed is Immolator fire support ability, which can let your meltas reroll to wound on disembark
The issue with Sisters in 10th is that there is no use for low Miracle dice anymore. Seeing as how Leadership tests have changed. The solution is taking Litanies of Faith, taking a Dialogus, taking an Imagifier and using the low ones to sacrifice rather than replace dice rolls.
So yeah they are looking pretty good. However it was also what I thought. They really don't have a ton of high-strenth ranged anti-tank and seem to rely on their miracle dice to spike high wounds. They seem to lean more towards their close-combat in that regard, not sure how I feel. On the other hand this army will roll-over all kinds of infantry. Half their units are pretty much designed to crack open elite infantry so interested where the meta goes in that regard.
Seems like that's true for a lot of factions.
It'll be interesting to see what updates to sheets GW makes here in the next while but yeah, Aeldari Wraiths and Imperial nights and anything else with toughness 10+ just steamrolls sisters. Right now people are looking at adding knights to their sisters force.
@@trevorjohnson2184 At this point that seems like a given. They need something that can reliably hurt things like Land Raiders, Knights, Guard Tank spam etc. Because those things will pummel them from across the board and meltas are just not reliable enough (even with miracle dice).
My fear is that the army is just going to get shot off the board. Everything looks like paper and nothing seems to have much offensive output to offset that. Also the leaders can't be grouped up in good units which is a bummer (only basic battle sisters).
Well you're going to want units to die to get miracle dice. You want to have units to be half strength for martyr lady bonus. You need to watch other vids. There's a lot of potential. Crusaders and cultists will be great to have cheap units to die. You can take an imnolator to split a sisters squad in half stick it on your home objective to get MD off the back. Sisters will be fine.
@@rhainex5952 the problem is that units won't be at under half strength either because it's impossible (Vahl and Paragons, units of Mortifiers) or they will just get totally removed since any player isn't going to leave a multimelta with +1 to wound around so I think their faction bonus will rarely be relevant outside of +1 to hit. Additionally their squads with good damage output like Paragons and Sancrosants are very easy to kill so won't have sticking power in an attrition situation with other fighty units.
@@rhainex5952I wish the community would chill with the "you want sisters to die" commentary. You shouldn't *want* your stuff to die, because paying 110, 150, 200pt for a single miracle dice isn't worth it. The miracle dice system should be a tool that helps under the inevitable deaths that will come from a soft infantry army.
The castigator autocannon has rapid fire 4. I think that as an anty infantry is "good". Against something like T4 it should put in 6,9 saves at 24" (8 rerolling attacks, 7,1 rerolling hits) .
While the battle cannon is a better guard battle cannon, since it has BS 3+ and ingnore cover.
The immolator has the ability "fire support" that I think is perfect with the dominion squads.
I actually play sisters as well.
They are now reliant on luck or miracle dice, or the silly dialogus ret Triumph combo that most players with brain cells will be able to play around easily.
Im all about people trying to be positive, but anyone comparing this to many of the other indexes and seeing this as even middle of the pack high, might be high.
No reliable anti tank guns.
No reliable anti tank melee.
To try to have things that might be able to play against a balanced list , will give up max secondaries for assassination and bring it down, so opponent will be able to just choose those and profit.
Not the worst index previewed, but the ladies are sadly not in a great place.
They want to be at half strength, but cant take any actual large units that might survive at under half strength with enough shots or attacks to actually benefit from the +1 to wound.
This was fairly poor non synergistic design.
Thank you for the hard work on putting a video together though.
Also you asked for corrections. Paragon warsuits are just now entering their second edition. They were released in 9th and were not in the 8th codex.
you are right, tank lists are going to be a tough matchup. Ill play a few games and see how it goes.
Also, please remember when considering attacks, ap, and sustained hits on melee lists that the Bloody Rose flavour detachment will be coming out with the codex. So, plus 1 ap and exploding 6s on the charge will be a thing in 2024 for Sisters 😊 (I predict, anyway)
I was planning on using the Sisters as the base for my Inquisition army, so seeing Ephrael and companion as native to SoBs is a delicious bonus! With a serving of Missionsaries on the side... I think I shall, thank you. It will help free up a badly needed slot for another agents unit to make them feel more the core rather than tacked on without necessarily loading up on named characters.
Sisters are looking very fun.
I especially love the new combos with the characters. I think they benefit a lot from the new leader rule.
You had me laughing at trying to keep the b$$$$ing to a minimum. love it!
When the worst thing you can say about the characters in your force is that the Worst one is only Good
Probably already caught this, but Seraphims are 2 models per 5 in the unit. So a 10 girl squad can now have 4 girls double wielding inferno pistols.
I am expecting to see the sister shuffle. Use immolators to split battle sisters, then turn one pull the sisters out and pit retributors in so they can enjoy the rerolls.
I am under the impression that the castigators is actually going to perform fairly well. I’m thinking that auto canon, has potential, especially with forcing battle shock tests to take enemies off of objective.
Wow! TY!
Does the palatine scout ability transfer over to the unit its leading ?? i feel like the core RAW say they don't ?
Nope
Sorry Norn, but I think Sisters are in rough shape. Problems:
-BSS locked in at 10 woman squads; too big to be useful as cheap objective takers/sacrifice for miracle dice, and too small to actually be an offensive threat, have durability, or benefit from leader abilities. Dominions are also locked at 10 which I think is a problem.
-Most Leaders are locked at 1 per squad, with only a couple instances where they can double up. There are a couple instances of very odd Leader-joining decisions (why the hell would Aestred Thurga join a Retributor squad).
-The main source of Sororitas Anti-tank is the Multi-melta, which took a big hit this edition. It caps at Str 9 while most armor's Toughness goes well beyond that. That can be mitigated by miracle dice, but what can't be mitigated is the shortened range of 18"/9"
-There are several instances where small mandatory squad size also hurts. Retributors only 5 woman squads, meaning they are dead as soon as they poke their head out. Morts and PE max size of 2.
-Our Detachment rule doesn't kick in until or unless the opponent decides it's time to. And if it's a truly lethal threat, the opponent might just decide to ignore it alltogether, or make sure it's dead outright so the buff doesn't kick in. It's not hard to kill 10 T3, 3+ models.
-Sacresants got kicked down to 3+ armor save and they only get their Wound debuff when Canoness, Palatine or Junith are leading, but you really want Aestred Thurga, a Hospitaller, or an Imagifier leading. Also, they lost Str AND AP on the halberd, and Str on the Maces.
-Many out-of-whack model/unit costs. Paragons still at 80 ppm. WTF WHY? Retributor squad 130 pts....26 ppm, meanwhile Astartes devastator squad kicks in at 120 with T4 and 2 wounds per model. Madness. Many models came down in costs in other indexes, and Sisters really didn't.
-Repentia got neutered in overall damage output. (Most in lack of attacks)
-I'll admit that their stratagems look good, but almost all armies have good stratagems, as all the useless ones have largely been trimmed.
I'm trying my best to be positive in this video. Sisters of battle might be the worst real army going into 10th. It's a shame because I was hoping they were okay but they are just bad.
@@NornQueenAlexis I hear you. I want to be positive too. I haven't played them yet, only a couple games with my Black Templar. I'm hoping Sisters are a "sum is greater than the whole of their parts" kind of army. I do think Battle Sisters squads are DOA though, maybe one squad broken in half with an Immolator. That's a shame because I like my armies to look icon with big blocks of basic troops. At least my Triumph will be coming out this edition though 😀
@@NornQueenAlexisAt least they aren't Death Guard or Admech.
To deal with all of the heavy weapons out there, we are going to need to bring a fair amount of tanks and such.
I am not yet sure what I think of 10th Sisters, so it is good to hear your opinion.
I always hope for so much more for my Battle Sisters, and often been disappointed.
Seems I Might have to buy more Vehicles than I wanted to, (GW does hate Women).
I wanted to deploy all of my 8 squads of 10 Battle Sisters, but I do not Know if I can?
Can you do a video on your choice for 1K, 2K, 3K sisters army my Queen please 🙏
I got one in the works
Is there a rule that means a leader passes it's "scout" rule to the attached unit? I can't find that rule anywhere.
no that was my bad
@@NornQueenAlexis that's okay I just thought I missed something. Thanks for clarifying. I'm on a FB group that's absolutely hating on the new rules and I just cannot understand why 🤔
@@MijMike because hate is easy. Playing is hard
@@NornQueenAlexis I have watched too much US office recently to not reply with "That's what she said."
But yes. You are right. My first game tomorrow. Onwards to glory!!
Thr thing about that 2 to ignore mods it also ignores armor of comtempt it modified you units ap also can't be reduced to 0 OC
got me laughing with that "t3 becuse gw hates woman" comment 💀💀💀
Sad. T3 is human Toughness, not superhuman Toughness
Sisters hype!
Yay, I should get Rhinos! Wait, I should get Rhinos, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Never bothered with them before, as I like 10 lady squads, so previously Celestians couldn't actually ride with their charge...
You can only use Divine Intervention once per character.
Your characters are going to die.
Lowering damage to one and in a squad is going to make some characters very hard to kill
Oh good to see her actually reading the content instead of just giving out her assumptions.
I think many units have a higher (worse) leadership than they should. Like custodies have the same as tactical marines.
Sisters also lost the regular celestians.
Hilarious jokes today! I just know that the first female that gets T4 will be glorious
There's a fine line between "let's not oversexualize the sisters" and "make the sisters ugly" and GW doesn't know where this line is
I think they should be ugly. They're a buncha pseudo-nuns wholly developed for War. You will inevitably be kinda ugly under that context, generally speaking.
I just want to say my Battle Sisters have 15 models per squad. Now I can't use all 15 models per squad.
just divide the extra 5s nto extra 10s
Just starting collecting Sisters Of Battle for this new edition, so I have no idea how they'll perform yet. But i found your video very informative, thank you.
I am baffled why you keep mispronouncing 'zephyrim' though. Zephyr as in wind. You kept pronouncing it 'zeryphim' for some reason. Not important, meaning was still clear, but you asked us to point out anything wrong, so...
