Range Rover Apple CarPlay Upgrade for 2009 - 2012 L322, L320 & L319

THIS week in the shop - another Range Rover Apple CarPlay upgrade BUT this time it's in a 2012 Range Rover L322 equipped with the Denso radio. I've had a lot of inquires from clients about adding Apple CarPlay/Android Auto to these earlier Range Rover and Range Rover Sport models and for the longest time we had nothing to offer. To my knowledge, there still aren't any options from any US based suppliers, but thankfully there is a product available from ID Core, sold by Unique Auto Developments out of the UK. This Range Rover Apple CarPlay/Android Auto kit is compatible with 2009 - 2012 Range Rover, L322, Range Rover Sport L320 and Discovery 4 L319 equipped with the Denso radio. Product link below:

NOTE: I should add that my correspondence with the distributor from initial inquiry to order processing was extremely professional and their replies to my questions were quite prompt. BUT PLEASE KEEP IN MIND if you do plan to tackle this yourself or even have a professional installer do the work, there is a time zone difference that could potentially affect response time to technical support questions. Thanks to a wonderful video from UA-camr Sam's Motor & Machine, we didn't have any questions or run into anything we couldn't figure out. I highly recommend watching Sam's video!

It's very cool, we do quite a few of these. The prices varies depending on exchange rate from sterling pound to USD. Price is always subject to change, but it's usually in the $1,350 - $1,450 range installed. If you have a good installer in your area you can always buy the parts directly from Unique Auto Developments UK. The hardware is currently listed at £579.99, plus £36.99 shipping plus I think they add a 3% card processing fee so roughly $800 USD for the hardware. We also add a $28.99 flush mount accessory for optional charging. I'm not sure what going labor rates are in your area, but this is usually about a 5 hour job start to finish. We've definitely accommodated a lot of out of area clients for this service (Philadelphia, Maine, NJ), but I think if you came from Florida, that would certainly set a record!

When I can buy a new screen same car but with the same size of original I want to keep it the most original

If your factory radio/screen is defective, I've had luck sourcing OEM used parts on sites like car-part, eBay and sometimes even local junkyards. You have to keep in mind with these vehicles, the radio is part of the fiber optic network so if there is an issue with another component on the network like the factory amp or Bluetooth module, the radio will not boot up properly to denote a network issue.
If that's the case you need to gain access to the modules in the driver's side rear access panel in the trunk and start looping each module out until you find the culprit. These cars are notorious for water intrusion due to faulty seal around the rear hatch and water just gets into those areas where all the electronics are.
If your factory radio is fully operational we prefer to use a kit like this to add the feature to the original stereo. If the factory radio isn't working, we usually start troubleshooting and sourcing used OEM parts to get it all functional and then we add the new hardware for CarPlay/Android Auto.
