I have had an RR Sport with the 4.2 supercharged jag engine for 14 years. 350,000 km. (210k miles). Bulletproof drive train. Longest vehicle I’ve ever kept & I still love it. It has been a great vehicle.
Awsome that’s brilliant. Thanks so much for sharing your experience. It will definitely help others see that other owners haven’t had problems. Appreciate you chatting to us 🤗
I am thinking of buying one. Are they expensive to run fuel wise? The £695 road tax made me sit down as I nearly fainted. But I like them and always wanted one. I would use it on a long journey once every month and use it at the weekend mainly
This year we bought a 2006 RRS HSE with the bomb-proof 4.4 litre naturally-aspirated V8. We've named Basil. He runs like a top, sounds like a Jaguar (with that yummy AJ-V8) and handles like a dream. Before we bought him, our mechanic swapped out the air-suspension for springs, so he's got a sporty Euro-feel now with zero body-roll. A delightful daily-driver! As with any Rover, especially, I tell friends that if they want one they need to do their homework. Thank you for your comprehensive take on the Range Rover Sport-- and for letting potential buyers know what they're in for. A well-maintained, well-kept Rover with issues addressed will bring much joy! Basil has 193,000+ miles so far and is happily purring along.
Have a 2008 4.4L V8 and have kept it since new, just passing 100,000 miles. It's been remarkably good so far. Had a couple of minor issues with the air suspension, and that's it. Moreover, we recently bought a piece of agricultural land on a steep slope and the RR Sport crawls all over it, hauling building materials to locations where big picks cannot manage.
After having mine for 4 years i just discovered how to put it sport mode. Push the gear selector to the left and you’ll get an S on the dash. Feels twice as fast!

Got a 2005 tdv6 with 230000 miles on it. Its the bog standard version, not hse. Perfect for chucking a couple of dogs in back. Had 3yrs use with very little trouble. Had an issue with battery drain which I found was due to an aftermarket satnav. Ripped it out an no problem since. Awesome car👌
Awsome thank you for sharing Rob. Sounds like you got a great motor there and still going strong at 230k miles. Thanks for leaving us a comment great to hear from real world owners 🤗
My dad had a 2008 3.6 TDV8, only recently sold it. Was great car and not once did it break down. NEVER use a LR franchised dealer to service your RRS. There are plenty of LR 4X4 specialists out there that will genuinely look after it properly. But some are still sharks. Isnt it a good idea to get a Naturally Aspirated Petrol to get turbo n other hassles out of the way? Im considering to get one. Its gonna be a weekend car. Not gonna put alot of miles whatsoever. Cheerss !
Thanks for the comment. I hear what you are saying, all depends on the car you are looking at, you might find a great deal on one that has recently had a new turbo fitted or not long on its service history and they can last for ages 10+ years. If you are not going to put a lot of miles on it and use it as a weekend car. You have the best options of choosing the best spec ones. I wouldn’t limit yourself to just NA models as you could miss out on some real bargains out there! Let us know what you get. Thanks for chatting with us 🤗

Hey Eddie, thanks for the comment. I would give it a test drive and test all the things we spoke about in the video if it’s got a good service history and the body work is good/interior I would go with your gut. If you can’t find another one as good as this one and you have shopped around a bit. I would consider it. Take someone with you to test drive the car. Let me know what you decide. Good luck 🤗
Hey, thanks for sharing. I would check for full service history and give it a test drive and check out all the things we spoke about in this video. Take a friend with you as well as more eyes are better. Are you saying 290,000 miles or 29,000 as first one is a lot and should of had a lot of work done to it so I would check the service history. Hope that helps 🤗
Hi, I am from Greece and I have found a 2008 Range Rover Sport SE V8 4.4L with 70000 kilometers and a price of €15000. is it worth buying it and converting it to lpg? So the cost of consumption will be much lower.
Hey thanks for the comment! I’m not sure how much the conversion would cost. I’ve not heard of anyone doing that. Sounds interesting, I’d be interested to see after costs what you mpg would be. 70k kilometres sounds good. I’d check service history and give it a test drive. Great question! I would look at the spec and see which car has the better options and better interior/exterior both beautiful cars, If they are the same I would say the sport edges it for me. And there are definitely some great deals to be had out there. Thanks for chatting 🤗
@Car Chat TV I think one big decider for me will be what is easier to work on for preventative maintenence. I don't like the idea of having to lift the cab off the chassis on the sport for some jobs.
8:20 for those wondering theres 2 different tax brackets for these range rovers, a cheaper £365 then the more expensive 600+ one, if i was you do your research and snag a cheaper tax bracket range rover and don't do what this plonk did and buy a 2.7 sport, plenty of them failing, engine seizing under 100k mileage not worth a single penny these 2.7 snorts buy a v8 bemmer engine variant way more reliable and way more fun.
Really great comment and point there! Exactly that, check and see what tax bracket it falls in. Thanks for sharing this as we didn’t cover it. Appreciate you sharing your thoughts and leaving us a comment 🤗

It was from a private seller that came with me on the test drive and I kept catching my foot on something when I braked and I said I keep catching my foot and it’s putting me off! When we got back I had a quick look and saw this plastic thing sticking out. I asked what it was but he changed the conversation anyway fast forward to collecting the car and I looked again and it wasn’t there….. 3 days or so later bing bing bing faults start popping up 5 or 6 different ones! So off to the garage it went was told it needed £6500 worth of work the plastic thing I was catching my foot on was a diagnostic chip the bloke was controlling from his phone! It nearly needed the full wiring loom as when the previous owner took the body off it was all ripped apart!
It’s not actually a lottery. 2 things affect engine longevity. Forget the mfr advised 15k oil changes. Use a premium oil & change every 5K. Also it needs to be well warmed up before you accelerate hard to many owners jump in & floor it on a cold engine
Yeah. Sound level for your voice is spot on maybe 5-10% increase could further improve it but not necessary. Background music level behind your voice is also perfect i would say. But the intro music where it plays pure music, thats killing some eardrums. At least for quality headphone users. I would probably lower it down 30-35% personally. On my pc i had to go as low as to +-30% from +-90% sound level. On mobile app, if i remember correctly, UA-cam has sound enhancing to even the sound levels (might be a premium feature idk) so its not so big issue on that end i guess.
The best thing to look for is a toyota . We own a 2014 range rover sport . Most unreliable vehicle we've ever owned ! Last year was off the road for 6 months with breakdowns . Heap of shat !
I've got a 2007 v8 hse supercharged.. problems I've had. Transfer bearing, door latch failure x 2. DSC leaks, new pipes needed £1200. Heater core blocked, no heat. Front screen heated element only clears half the screen. Luckily, it's the passengers side. Coolant tank low coolant warning.. new tank needed as the built in float sunk.. shit design. The only good thing is the V8 marvellous engine, shame about the rest of the car.
@@CarChatTV Firstly I gotta say I'm enjoying watching your content and I've just subscribed. Keep up the good work! I just really struggle with any JLR 4x4 product. They are just not fit for purpose and objectively lack the quality and reliability that is required for use outside of an urban area. I say this as a recovering Land Rover tragic who learned the hard way! Pick any Toyota wagon from the equivalent era and it will do what it says on the tin and do it reliably. I would also say it won't be quite as comfortable, or have quite the same on road manners but it will (almost always) get you there and more importantly back home again. I guess in summary I'd say if you can't afford to buy a any new RR, Defender or Discovery and flip it before the warranty ends you simply can't afford one. They are money pits and will just cause heartache. Looking forward to more of your content mate - just watched the GV80 review.

I wish I had a mechanic buddy to take the trip with me, closet to that would be to fork over 289 USB for an hour of labor at the nearest LR dealership lol....I just wish I knew what to look for...the car fax has no mention of a timing chain replacement throught the history, and I was told I can open the oil tank and check the chain myself but who knows really.
My father has the 2008 HSE 4.4 V8 300 horsepower, and I find it very uncomfortable on the road, especially with cracks. Plus, the seats are insanely hard like rocks. But as a cruiser it's great 😅. I just don't understand why it was made as a sports car rather than an suv.
Hey thanks for the comment. Really appreciate you sharing your experience. I bet your dad loves it. Thanks for chatting with us 🤗
What size wheels are on it? Anything bigger than 19 inch & ride quality starts to suffer. I have 20 & it's reasonably ok
Its a passion..
Great video!
Love it thank you 🤗
If you're frend was to look were the centre console is he would of seen the cupholders and my range rover sport HSE has done 200.00 miles and I haven't had any problems with it at all
Awsome thanks Allan for sharing and leaving us a comment 🤗 that’s great you haven’t had any problems with it. Always great to hear from real world owners and their experience. Thanks again for chatting with us 👍🏽
What how what engine ive just brought a 2008 114k crank snapped
Thanks for chatting with us 🤗
@@CarChatTV hmmmm...so looking at service history is important stuff....
Check the insurance before you buy 😂 I bought one Friday because it was cheap.. got it home and called my insurance to add it to our policy with the BMW 320D Msport and they wanted…. Wait for it £7.5k 😂😂😂 I’m 46 years old ffs.. to cut a long story short I searched, compared and still ended up paying £4k !!
Oh WOW that’s mad! Thanks for sharing. I can’t believe that, what is going on with these insurance companies, ridiculous prices. Thanks for the comment and chatting to us. I hope the Range Rover is worth it lol 🤗
@@CarChatTVrange rovers are a car thief’s favourite. They’re easy to pinch and have a lot of pulling power so get used in ram raids and ATM thefts a lot so as a result insurance has gone through the roof
Could you give me some advice I’m looking to buy a Range Rover this week It’s a 2006 137,000 he wants $6,000 clean title he said he replace water pump and thermostat do you think this is a good choice to buy ?
Hey Eddie, thanks for the comment. I would give it a test drive and test all the things we spoke about in the video if it’s got a good service history and the body work is good/interior I would go with your gut. If you can’t find another one as good as this one and you have shopped around a bit. I would consider it. Take someone with you to test drive the car. Let me know what you decide. Good luck 🤗
Hi just a quick question I’ve seen a Range Rover sport with 298000 on the clock 57 plate cheap to buy I don’t no what to do any advice manny thanks
You could have a decent car on your hands there! Good luck. 🤗
Dad just bought a Land Rover Rangerover SPT TDV6 HSE A 03.2006 It's not starting first time even after a long run..looking to but a battery but need to find out if a Stop Start Engine Or Not...not sure..can anyone advise?
I doubt if one that age has stop/start.
I have a 2009 3.0l tdv6 hse paid £8500 with full service history up to 87k bought with 92k on clock it's by far the best thing I've ever bought 😂 it terrifies me the thought of it breaking so have £1700 in a safe place just incase I love it too much wife has drove it once and that's enough.
Experience. Expensive bt so are kids 😂
Ha ha I love this comment Adam, thanks so much for stopping by and Sharing your experience with us. They are special cars and great to find one that’s been looked after. Well done on keeping a pot of money on the side. Hope you don’t need it. But smart idea. Kids are expensive you are right 😂 much more expensive than a Range Rover and you deserve the best 🤗
Wow I just brought a 2008 114k last owner paid 9k for ot in Feb now I've got it for less then 1k but has a snapped crank
Whats a better car for the money? This or a range rover l322 vogue?
Great question! I would look at the spec and see which car has the better options and better interior/exterior both beautiful cars, If they are the same I would say the sport edges it for me. And there are definitely some great deals to be had out there. Thanks for chatting 🤗
@Car Chat TV I think one big decider for me will be what is easier to work on for preventative maintenence. I don't like the idea of having to lift the cab off the chassis on the sport for some jobs.
@@tomlyon4085 Same goes for the L322 unfortunately
Pre trip the Range Rover lol love it
Ha ha thanks 🤗
Great info.
Awsome thank you for taking the time to leave us a comment. Much appreciated 🤗
How much did this cost and how much had it run already? I want to buy this one which costs 7k euro in Germany and comes with 1 year warranty. Suggest me if it is a good deal
do it
Bought it! Love it!
Don't want to get out 🙃😁
Always doing extra miles 💪

Can't buff dents out lad 😅
😂 😂😂 what about those special tools on temu lol
so that means I`ll go for BMW X5 E70 3.0 diesel, RR is just too much fuss with it, and makes Beemer way cheaper
I got done over big time when I got mine 😢
No way! What happened if you don’t mind us asking? Trying to create a resource here so people can use the comments to help them in their research. Thanks 🤗
@@CarChatTV I can send you copy of the work it needed if you are on social media?
@@charleneg9016 yeah we are @carchattv on insta. Send us a message. I’m really sorry you had to go through this. Sounds horrible.

Loved my M reg 200 disco, my 06 Range Rover sport is 💩 just my opinion 🤯😂😂
I also love a disco too some great ones around. Thanks for sharing always Great to hear from other enthusiasts 🤗 appreciate the comment
I’ve downgraded to a Mitsubishi L200 2014 🤦♂️ from the 2006 Range Rover sport and I can’t wait to save for a new OLD rangey 🤦♂️🤦♂️😂😂👌👍👍👍
186k i just brought one and it snapped on 114k 😮😮😮
The crankshafts have been know to fail in low mileage vehicles even as low a 35,000 complete lottery as to when they will fail.
It’s not actually a lottery. 2 things affect engine longevity. Forget the mfr advised 15k oil changes. Use a premium oil & change every 5K. Also it needs to be well warmed up before you accelerate hard to many owners jump in & floor it on a cold engine
Very first thing that's said is wrong 😂 HST is the top rangey not the HSE
Thought I said autobiography is the top trim! Lol. Either way thanks for sharing and leaving a comment 🤗

your intro is too loud mate, otherwise quality content
Hey thanks for the feedback? Was it the music? Sometimes we have problems with that. Really appreciate you taking the time to comment and chat to us 🤗
I look for the name badge and if it says Range Rover I walk away. I work too hard for my money to waste it on an unreliable car.
Thanks for the comment. What cars do you like? 🤗
Once you have owned a Range Rover it’s hard to drive anything else !!!
The best thing to look for is a toyota . We own a 2014 range rover sport . Most unreliable vehicle we've ever owned ! Last year was off the road for 6 months with breakdowns . Heap of shat !
scary stuff
I've got a 2007 v8 hse supercharged.. problems I've had. Transfer bearing, door latch failure x 2. DSC leaks, new pipes needed £1200. Heater core blocked, no heat. Front screen heated element only clears half the screen. Luckily, it's the passengers side. Coolant tank low coolant warning.. new tank needed as the built in float sunk.. shit design. The only good thing is the V8 marvellous engine, shame about the rest of the car.
sounds like its a bad idea to buy, i'll pass thx for the video
Also FFS buy a Toyota!
Which Toyota though? We do like Toyota.
Too expensive pass
