Good video. We left PDX 10 years ago. You just listed many of the reasons perfectly. Downtown is depressing in 2023.
Thanks for watching! And I agree with you, much of the downtown area has changed a lot in recent years. It's rather unfortunate. The parts of town just to the NW of downtown are very nice tho, like The Pearl, Alphabet District, and also I was in an area recently what's known as "Slabtown" and was blown away at how nice it was all of a sudden, lots of new and up and coming businesses and new condo buildings. I personally prefer to hang out on the east side of town anyways though so I don't go over there too often. Cheers.
I will come to portland next month, now I want to leave portland to America for few days and stay there, is it possible pls let me know
I’m from Portland and I approve of this video. Good job 👏🏾
Thanks J C, for watching! I appreciate your approval. 👌
I've visited Portland recently and for the most part I found it charming. Yes, there are quite a few homeless but, they weren't aggressive or bothersome to me and I find San Francisco far worse. If you have an open mind, its really a beautiful place.
Thanks for watching and I couldn't agree with you more! Cheers and come back anytime. 🍻👍
5th in the nation in homeless, and where does Portlands population rank ? 28th.
The statistic was per capita.
Thanks for the honesty. My aunt lives over into Washington about 1 hour from Portland. I've been out to visit and Portland was such a beautiful, fun city. I've seen videos and now it just looks so depressing. Also, whose idea was it to decriminalize drugs? Did the politicians get a discount for a group lobotomy session. Anyway, the west coast is still beautiful.
Come back and visit again sometime :) it's not as bad as some videos make it seem. Still very beautiful in many ways. Thanks for watching! ❤️
You forgot to mention the Portland Timbers MLS team. The town is absolutely bonkers about it.
Yeah you're right, John! This town loves their Timbers! Admittedly, I'm not the biggest soccer fan so that one slipped my mind when I made this video. I've been meaning to check out a game tho at some point. Thanks for watching! 🙌
I left Portland (after 20+ years) because of the rain ... I left LA (after 6 years) because of the Cost of Living. Sports? Is book reading a sport (Powells)? Portland has the highest watching rate of MSNBC of all major cities ... damn, now I have to move back! By the way, has the trees grown back after that fire in the Gorge?
One thing to note is that PDX is a border town. You've got completely different tax options in the 'Couve. There's not a lot of Western U.S. cities as big as PDX on a state line to provide that option. How PDX doesn't have an NHL team is beyond me. The arena is already here! MLB and NFL will probably never happen due to the sheer cost and infrastructure adjustments needed to support that. But NHL should, nay, NEEDS to be here. Let's get that NHL I-5 rivalry with Seattle!
Sad about the homeless in Portland. We don't have many here in Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa Bay, or really any large city in Florida.
I moved away in 2019. Just in time.
Where'd you move to?
@@portlandoregonliving rural Virginia next to the blue ridge mountains about 30 minutes south of Charlottesville. Lived in PDX 2003 to 2019. I remember first coming to PDX in summer 1983. They were just building big pink, koin center , pac west center. Thought it was the best place ever. People say it’s gotten worse even since 2019. Is That true? I never know whether it’s alot of media hype anymore about how bad it is now or whether it’s true. I always loved coming to PDX to visit before I lived there. Lived on ne 80 near rose city golf course and ne 68th near Halsey. The homeless off the exit ramp drove me crazy.
Sounds like you're in a beautiful spot! I've traveled a bit thru Virginia and it's very lovely. I'd say the pandemic exasperated certain parts of the problems you were attuned to in 2019 in certain parts of the city, but most parts of the city and greater metro area are peaceful and nice. I by no means think Portland is perfect but it's a nice place to live in my opinion and there are pockets/areas where issues are very apparent and many more where it's not. That's just my perspective though and if you're better off where you are now then by golly, that's how it should be, man! Portland certainly won't be for everyone and that's fine. The world is a big place so everyone deserves to find a spot. I'm here for those who are thinking of Portland as their spot. :) Thanks a lot for watching my videos Joe, I appreciate you. Cheers.
@@portlandoregonliving I miss the things to do in PDX, the restaurants, the food, the beer, etc. but traded it for solitude. Sometimes you like a little of each.
Am moving in this year
Portland got soccer too
Yep, cool! 👌😎😉
From what I hear Portland is working on getting a Major League Base Ball Team.
Yes I've got my fingers crossed for that cause I love baseball! Thanks for watching!
Please mention Safety feature in a Portland compared to San Francisco - getting paranoid regarding this topic - 😢
Hey give me a call to chat about this! 503-583-2081
Portland, as far as violent crime rates go, is very low as far as a major city. It does have a high property crime rate, which includes things such as theft, vandalism, among other things. Portland, statistically relative to other majors, is very safe, especially if you aren't in the downtown area.
Portland Pickles? did I hear that right?
🤣 Yep. There's a baseball team here called the Portland Pickles. 🤣 I have never been to a game but I keep meaning to go. I hear it's a good time with lots of great heckling and beer drinkin. Thanks for watching!
Portland really needs another pro ball team, maybe two. Portland is the 19th largest CSMA with 3.3 million people, so it's definitely a big enough market to support more teams.
I agree!! I've got my fingers crossed for an MLB team at some point. Cheers and thanks for watching!
The rent is to high why are tell
People's to come here
We are having hard time
Just living her
Most of my life
The landlord or going up the rent
Every chance they get
It's hard living in Portland Oregon
Why the people's living in this city
It's getting hard to living here
Stop telling people's to come here
They buy property and they think the rent should go up because where use to in another state so they come here
The rent keep going up!!!
The who grew up here pay the price
For rent
We have a lot senior here
Where's are they are going to live
Even low-income houseing
Try put people's out.
To get more rental income
It's bad here to live in this city
You forgot portland has major league soccer
You're right. I forgot about them! My bad. I never really follow MLS so that one slipped my mind for some reason, I've showed the Timbers some love in other videos though! Thanks for watching.
I will come to portland next month, now I want to leave portland to America for few days and stay there, is it possible pls let me know
One more IMPORTANT thing to mention is, if you have any type of conservative views whatsoever don’t expect to make friends in this town. Oh they judge when it comes to that sht 😂
I’d rather live in a cave in the woods then move to Portland (Oregon or Maine)
Lol ok right on, glad we figured that out... thanks for watching!
