When I think of Portland, I think of the metro area as a whole, including the city's districts, the burbs, and the xburbs, so this is more of a suburb vs city comparison, so you could do the same with Lake O, the Couve, etc.

Yeah totally! I've been thinking of doing a video like this for every suburb. Thanks for watching!

Oh hey! A video on where I live! It's a pretty decent area. I do sometimes wish there was more to do. It's great for hiking and shopping, but that's mostly it. But it does have that trade off of lower crime rates, pretty quiet, and as you said, once you get to downtown area it's at least fairly walkable. Also busses go everywhere here.

Sprawly. Lots of chain everything. Strip Malls. Big streets. Cookie Cutter in most areas. But Max, good bus system, some bike lanes (despite scary drivers), good access to some great parks, good Indian Food, close some good paying jobs. Has Pros. Has Cons,

How close are the mountains? Can you see them from, say, your house?

@@portlandoregonliving the problem is too many Californians moved up here. I lived in Beaverton Aloha area in my childhood and twenties. It was much nicer then.

I feel like if you want to talk about taxes you should research total tax burden and be more clear. Oregon residents pay most of their taxes directly through income tax so it's easy to see what we pay. Other states hide what you pay through sales tax and endless add on taxes to services. Not that our taxes are low, but its not as simple as just looking at income tax rates.

Good point, Brian! I feel like in general, people should always do their on research based on their own unique finances, and maybe even consult with a tax expert, so that's why I don't go into too much detail on this channel in regard to taxes. Thanks for watching!

Sure if you work there and have a family. It’s a family town. If not, why? Bad traffic getting in unless on weekends.

Yeah no for sure Beaverton is not going to be for everyone I think it's a good family move considering everything you said and depending on what school zone you choose to live in some areas will be more diverse than others in Beaverton school zone districts. Niche and few other websites will have legit reviews. Another thing is Beaverton has some great magnet, charter, and private school options that can be leveraged. Based on the short drives and diversity and friendly laid back people I personal think Oregon and Beaverton can be a great choice!

Mayor and city council is woke as shit. Beaverton used to be quite red but now is heavily blue. Washington county is becoming beyond purple. Thank God we have a county DA (Kevin Barton) who still believes in law and order, unlike Schmidtstain in Portland. People (including us) moved to Beaverton because it was not Portland. Too bad our city leadership does not get that. It is rapidly becoming blue virus Portland. Beaverton school district is a woke shit show now. I thank God that my kids have all recently graduated. I would home school before I let 48J educate another one of my kids. Property taxes here are out of control. We moved here in 2010 and property taxes were $4400. Now they are almost $8k. For what? DEI policy? The police are great and have a constant presence. TVFR is top notch as well. Town center has some "holiday" lights put up but they don't say for which holiday. I emailed them asking about that and never got a response. Blue virus.

I was wondering about property taxes, thanks for bringing this up. Have you considered that the property taxes might have been gradually increasing over the last decade due to Measure 50? This was late 90s stuff that might be trickling down. If Beaverton had been charging the max they could be, it might have made the recent increases in the last decade either not possible or less intense for someone who just moved to the city within that time.

Also Schmidt (Mult Co) and Barton seem to have similar stances on how to prosecute certain crimes related to drug use. What is Barton pulling off that Schmidt isn't?
