I moved there for a job 15 years ago. The worst decision i ever made. Culturally Bland and boring in every way. And housing is ridiculous. I gave it 10 years though I was ready to move within 5 months after I moved there.

I'm surprised to not see the University/PSU area listed. Feels completely separate from the Pearl to me.

One thing to note is that PDX is a border town. You've got completely different tax options in the 'Couve. There's not a lot of Western U.S. cities as big as PDX on a state line to provide that option. How PDX doesn't have an NHL team is beyond me. The arena is already here! MLB and NFL will probably never happen due to the sheer cost and infrastructure adjustments needed to support that. But NHL should, nay, NEEDS to be here. Let's get that NHL I-5 rivalry with Seattle!

Thanks, mostly balanced and informative video for me. I'm interested in semiconductors, but struggle in heat. So, Phoenix, Dallas, Austin out. So, it seems Portland/Hillsboro. I kind of figured what I see in news would not be whole store. But, still I have concerns - like why did REI and other stored move out of downtown?

I've been to Deming, NM as I lived in Las Cruces, NM for two years. It's actually quite nice - very beautiful area in the Chihuahuan desert. And I visited Big Bend National Park many years ago and so was near Fort Stockton. Alpine, TX and Fort Davis, TX are very nice areas - again in the Chihuahuan desert. Some Mountain ranges around there. McDonald Observatory in that area on a mountain top. All these areas in West Texas and Southern New Mexico have some of most friendly people. My point, definitely not shitholes. I don't understand your attack on these areas!!

I'm from CT, and my job has an opening in Tualatin, OR. I've been wanting to move to the great north west. I've wanted to do this ever since I've seen movies that show the forest, and i'm a big into bigfoot.. lol, and the paranormal. Just, looks pretty out there.

I moved from SF (native) in 2020…..and I have not been impressed by the restaurants here whatsoever. I do love Portland houses-not the modern stuff-but no one can afford to buy a home here including the suburbs unless you have two amazing incomes. The nature is amazing and why I moved here 😊

Both cities are OK by me. in my eyes, Portland is more populated with trees and pine forest than Seattle.

Portland, pound-for-pound, has the best food scene in the country. I didn’t really realize that until I moved to Phoenix, which doesn’t really have a food scene.

I moved to Portland from San Francisco (native) in 2020. I love it here but no way can you buy a house here either or in the suburbs. Same struggles as in San Francisco, but quality of life is much better. Generally people are nicer and the schools are way better with more opportunities. Absolutely love living in the middle of nature 🙃
