  • Squat exercises use all the hip muscles... so they should be great for helping heal hip arthritis right?
    It depends on several factors like:
    - How irritated your hip osteoarthritis is at this time
    - What muscles you are using to squat
    - What your squat technique is like
    - How often you're doing squats
    There is a right and wrong time to do squats if you have hip arthritis! Squatting can be very helpful, but also very harmful.
    In this video, Dr. David answers the question, "Are squats good to help heal painful hip arthritis?"

    You say that the glutes should work during the whole movement... But while going down on the squat, my glutes are relaxed, when I tighten them, I can't go down! Please explain

    I have arthritis in the hips and knees on the same side, I feel pain in my glutes when squatting and have noticed improved walking and standing. If I want a deeper squat with wider legs I hold on to the bannister. Sometimes I use a kettlebell for half of the 100 squats. My aim is 100 squats a day but usually do 4-5 days a week of 100 squats a day. I find that rest is also important.

    Do you have any tips for coping with a desk job with hip arthritis? Am currently using my seat high and perching on the edge, but it breaks all the h&s guidance.

      I'm not him, I squeeze my butt cheeks together to strengthen the glut maximus, so i raise my upper torso by the clenching, i also sit with my thighs parallel to the ground, with feet flat to the ground I open and close my thighs to lubricate the hip joints. Like I s a y I was m not him

      Hi Hayley, We do not but we do offer Virtual Consultations. Our Virtual Consultations are conducted similarly to a Zoom call, and we will send you a link that will automatically connect you with one of our doctors. This consultation will allow us to gain a better understanding of your condition, discuss your medical history, and provide personalized guidance tailored to your needs.
      Once you have purchased the Virtual Consultation, we recommend sending us an email with your questions, any records you would like to discuss, and a brief description of your medical history at least 24 hours before your appointment. This will help us prepare and ensure we can address all your concerns during the session. Please refrain from sending this information before purchasing for security purposes.
      After your Virtual Consultation, you will receive a recording of the session, and you will have 90 days from the date of the consultation to ask any follow-up questions regarding your session. You can simply email us your questions, and our doctors will get back to you at their earliest convenience.

    Does ice on hipbone help please?

    • @epmanualphysicaltherapy
      @epmanualphysicaltherapy  2 місяці тому +1

      Hi Mary, it depends on the person. Some feel that ice helps with inflammation, while others feel that the heat is soothing. You can also try alternating heat and cold.
