- This exercise could actually increase groin pain and inner thigh pain 😣
And even better, here are three exercises to focus on instead. This pain can be one of the most common symptoms of hip osteoarthritis. Groin pain and tightness can limit walking, going up and down the stairs and even getting in the car. But, there is something you can do about it!
3 Day Walking Challenge: keeptheadventurealive.com/wal...
One of the main reasons inner thigh and groin muscles can become irritated is likely from overuse, compensating for other hip muscles that may be weakened. Especially when walking, now the inner thigh muscles have to work harder than they are used to.
The best way to find relief is to add variety to your training. Moving in different directions can help to reduce the tension and pain and allow other muscles to do their jobs. Join Dr. Alyssa Kuhn, physical therapist and osteoarthritis specialist as she walks you through the one exercise to avoid and the 3 exercises to focus on instead.

I was recently diagnosed with hip osteoarthritis. When I asked to be referred for physical therapy, the doctor told me therapy can possibly worsen my condition and nothing more was done for me. End of conversation. I found a massage therapist who greatly helped with the pain I was experiencing. And I am so very grateful I found you! Thank you for your willingness to educate us!

@@olivesoondar1165 start taking HYDROLYZED PROTEIN PEPTIDES, AKA: POWDERED COLLAGEN. It helps to restore cartilage in shoulders, hips, knees, etc. Actually helps the whole body. You need it for the rest of your life. Do not take it with caffeine. Error on some pkg, instructs this. Herbal tea, milk, juices, hot cereals, soups....tasteless but it must dissolve.

Thank you.

I think I found out about my problem thanks to you. I have hip pain in my groin area all the around to the side of my hip. I do leg kicks for my stretch routine, I do hip 90/90 rotations, and kneeling quad and squats. When my orthopedic did an impingement exam with my left hip and took my leg to my right shoulder, I felt the pain on the side of my hip and around my buttocks. Doing those quad exercises/stretches, I can feel pain when doing it. I just did these 3 exercises along with you just now and felt nothing (although the last one was complicated like you stated so I used the wall. It does feel weird but I know practice makes perfect) except it's working (lol). So I will eliminate those to see if it will make a difference. You have a new subscriber here!
Edit: I was already subscribed to you. I just researched what to do about my pain in my groin area and your video popped up.
Thank you! I just had anterior hip replacement, and some exercises I was given caused awful groin pain! These help.
Glad it helped!
PHENOMENAL video. Wow! I have no cartilage left in either hip. Advanced osteo-A. I choose no surgery. Love PT. I have hardly any pain. But hips did fuse from bone-on-bone, so can't bend down. Other than that, the only thing I've noticed is can't stand or walk for very long ... but I live a normal life. Really really needed this!! Thank you sososo much❤❤❤
Thank you for your knowledge
welcome!
Thanks 🙏 very HELPFUL 💕
Glad it was helpful!
I’m so excited I found your channel! Finally something I can try. Especially with my dad, although he has hlab27 reactive arthritis specifically. I have fibromyalgia. Hoping my SI joints tolerate the hip hinges okay but the first two exercises I can definitely do :)
I'm glad you found the channel too!
Nope, can't do straight leg anything! Thanks for the affirmation and teaching the hip hinge.

Glad you like them!
I walk backwards & forward in a pool.
That's a great start.
Another excellent video.
Thank you!
Hi Alyssa, I’m a big fan of yours. Your exercises are my go to when exercising. I’m trying to strengthen my bones due to osteoporosis. You are inspiring to watch and exercising with makes my whole day complete. BTW, i love your shoes if you won’t mind can I ask what kind do you wear? Thank you and love your utube channel. More power to you.❤

Add boron, vitamin D with K2, and magnesium to your regimen.
I used to live on a flat property, I moved to the mountains, and the climbing up the hills have helped with groin pain.
Thank you for sharing.
Very good exercise thanks 🙏
You are welcome!
Thank you❤
Welcome!
Thanks!
You are so welcome! Thanks for the support!
I have intermittent pain in the right hip, sometimes pulling in the groin. It can kick in when I walk, although it's not so bad if I walk with a purpose. The worst is the kind of slow, shuffling walk that you might do when browsing in a shop, that sort of thing. When I do that, it definitely gets worse. I've tried some of your exercises, and they have helped. I also experiment with other movements.
So here's my question. After doing your side-to-side steps, I tried side lunges. I still have a decent amount of leg strength (I'm 70), so I tried stepping into a very wide stance, at least twice shoulder length. Then, I bend a leg and do a kind of side lunge. Not deep, but enough to feel the pull inside the other leg, in the groin area. Then shift to the other side, back and forth. I only go as deep as I can go comfortably.
This movement seems to help. If I'm walking and start to feel pain and my gait shortening, a few of these side lunges really seem to help. But of course, I don't want to do anything that might actually be harming me. So that's my question: Is this a good thing to be doing?
THANK U GOD BLESS U
You're welcome!
Question? Was diagnosed with Hip Arthritis and with diet and exercise been 2 months with no medication. Now experiencing a sharp pain, like Bursitis but reflecting inside my knee and very painful. I can pretty much do any exercise except putting my shoe on or flexing my leg in a 4 position. Other than that I can now do anything. Have any recommendations? I do thank you in advanced!
Alyssa, how can I get out of the car from the driver's seat without experiencing such intense pain?? (Osteoarthritis)
Also, how can I sit comfortably in a chair and not be stiff when I get up?
I'm trying a rolled towel behind my lower back but it's not really helping much. Are there chairs that are made for Osteo sufferers?
Great info! What are your thoughts about doing the first two in a pool?
Thank you. The pool is a great place to start, but need to progress to land at some point.
Hello! I have scoliosis and a rib hump with pain all down that side. My glute on that side has disappeared. Should I just work that side at first? Help! Thank you!
Very helpful -
Glad it was helpful!
Is there any treatment for flat foot...pl guide
I have osteoarthritis in my upper groin right in the crease, will these movements help me?
When doing the step backwards movement do I negate the backwards progress with bringing my leg forward so I can start the move over?
Ok, I'm committed to trying these three, every other day. Seems kinda too easy. Like how can I increase strength with these?
This is definitely me. and sciatica with it.
Glad you liked the video!
Finally something not happening to me! 😊 But is happening on the outside!
I have terrible left groin pain.. I have osteoarthritis and have been told I will need a replacement.. Sometimes my hip catches, that is very painful.. Sometimes I can’t move my hip at all due to the pain..
These videos have helped people with relief. Good luck with the movements!

Alyssa, you are an absolute treasure.I am sooo glad I found you! ❤
I'm so glad you found the channel too! Welcome and hope you like the other videos.
Is it ok to do these exercises every day?
It depends on how your body responds.
The walking backwards was fine, as was the bending forward. However, the side to side caused a lot of pain
Side to side can be difficult for some. Were you using upper body support when attempting? That can be really helpful- I.e using g a kitchen counter or a stable surface to provide some support while moving laterally.
Yes. I was holding on to a table
Should I continue the side to side or eliminate it for now?
The PTs I saw insisted on the raise leg exercise. I thought it aggravated the situation.
My pain is the outer thigh.
Not easy 😢. Groin stiffness. Osteoarthritis.
Fibromyalgia syndrome symptoms muscles stiffness & severe aches in hips & groin area, sides of hips feel like 🔥 fires hot sensations causing person to stop moving thousands muscles during walking around * UP stairs 😢😢😢😢😢 miserable sensations.😢😢😢😢 Disabling movement. 😢😢😢😢
Thanks! Very tight hips after years of running and injuring my knee. Hope this helps.
Good luck with it!
