There are still so many new things to learn about this game. That is awesome that self destruct actually has a very powerful use with this build. I will likely try this on cloud because I dont like melee barret and I prefer to go all in on physical damage with tifa
So genius! I never thought of that. Makes sense though as self destruct would normally kill you. So death prevent, HP Absorb, and Low max HP makes this possible.
@@thescarletwitch9122 that fight was actually the easiest for me because of the Barret Infinite Health build. I customized it by adding maxed out Elemental + Lightning on both Tifa and Barret's armor, which made everything easier. Just focus on the appendage and when your health is low, either let yourself get hit by lightning or just whale on the minions to build up Barret's ATB.
Had to try this build for myself after watching your video. High risk, high reward best describes it (especially with Tifa/Aerith), great strategies as always bro!

Yooooo! I didn't know the transference module was so damn good at building limit break!? I used it on my 1st play and it didn't work out to well. This video gives more motivation to test it out on hard

if you do this strat with the Revival Earrings on Cloud, you could do it twice in a row (blow up > limit usage > blow up again > limit usage again), although it will take a second or two for Cloud to revive himself with the earrings. Probably loses the Berserk status as well the second time since he dies, but that should be an easy fix with Hold Square in Punisher Mode.
I've experimented with this trick in the Top secrets battle (as I'm trying to beat my own record). I've managed to fit two limit breaks (on top of the Gotterdammerung limit break) on Bahamut and Pride and Joy bosses. But it's pointless to fit a second one in as they're about to die anyway. With Fat Chocobo I've also fitted one in...but for me it doesn't speed up the fight that much. As for Shiva and Leviathan the fights seems even relatively shorter and so fitting a limit break in is also a little pointless. I've also experiemented with having Tifa equip with the Gotterdammerung whilst Cloud does the instant limit break trick...maybe I'm just not used to the changed style but that also did not do much to improve my record. So at the moment the "best" tactic for me is to do one instant limit break on Bahamut and Pride and Joy. it's helped me get my personal record down from 3:04 to the current 2:24. @@BltzZ I'm using Cloud for all limit breaks. However, I did try with Tifa and did what you suggested; starshower and then limit break. Actually that reminded me that when I use Cloud and if I can I'd use punisher mode then hold square and them limit break. I think that increases damage...I haven't done it that much to notice a difference yet. Will keep experimenting.
It's possible this can help take them out quickly just beware of the health for those situations and save the limit breaks towards the end to finish them off
It’s cool but I’m sure most real ff7 remake players would know that already also u only ever need 1 limit break it seems unless the boss is not damage locked then ya but if u want staggers and a fast limit break blizzaga raises stagger very high so I use raw damage to a point the lb for a finish and if the boss isn’t bound by damage refocus and blizzaga all the way but it’s still cool it makes better sense to use refocus the do the boom so u always atb chi trap is good with mobs to raise lb bar to chi trap spam stagger farm there are tons of ways to get fast lb also don’t forget to use poison or bad breath on bosses Posion rules in some boss battles but anyways great video as for warding materia one of best in game for status effects works wonders with keepin u safe and if u want a fast lb magnify blizzaga on mobs it will stagger them and u get lb so many ways to set up for the game I personally think that raw damage is better than spells only use pray or chakra u can get unlimited pray materia and 4 chakra materia so don’t really need heal materia I put refocus on all 3 players that’s 9 atb bars if u can get it done fast enough even reg blizzard works on mobs have fun keep makin vids

I'll try this build. Seems exciting with those instant limit breaks. And it's satisfying to see that you don't die after Self-destruct. No kidding on Aerith's limit break, man. I equipped the Gotterdammerung on Aerith and used Planet's Protection on my hard mode Sephiroth boss fight. It did help on making the 3rd phase battle quite easier but it's still tough, lol.
A year later and I'm just now seeing this. Amazing. I've long since beaten the game on hard mode and done all the extra stuff. I'll see If I can do this in the DLC.
@@BltzZ For me, this strat is building limit quickly, but not in 1 self destruct - it's taking about 3, with Cloud. And that's using the same build you are using in the video, it's still not 100% protecting me from the self-destruct insta death (all the materia on cloud is maxed out too); Though, I tested it via bahamut, so maybe bahamuts Aura damage messes with the strat in some way? or they patched it to fix this strat?

I used this very well in the harbingers boss guide I uploaded last week. Feel free to check it out! You can use it for Sephiroth too but I haven't finished editing the video because I've been busy streaming hehee. But you can change your build up before fighting Sephiroth if you want to by holding square in the beginning cutscene when him and cloud faceoff.

This is a tough one but if you can get both limit breaks to pop on two characters you will absolutely shred bahamut with this! Star shower with tifa before you dolphin flurry
Hi ! One major tip for the bahamut fight is to cast the manawall spell before the bahamut casts his megaflare on you (will halve the damage so some chars should survive to this). The rest of the fight is pretty "standard". GL, man !

Yes you can use them both at the same time on the same enemy very easily! They track very well with each other. I do it a few times in this video as well. Against regular enemies and fat chocobo!
Actually for Aerith the build could be nice with Refocus, giving her 3 ATB gauge early for the rest of the fight and she could devastate the ennemies with Arcane Ward and casting 2 powerfull spells in the row, or other of her support abilities to beneficiate the party.
Check out my infinite atb build video where I used that setup without the limit break self destruct but showcase how devastating 3 ATB aerith can be against top secret shiva!
I noticed you can only survive the first self destruct. If you do it more than once in a fight you’ll instant die but still get the limit break. Make sure to have another character use arise

The thing is i think barret doesn't need to use limit break because i think barret is best used for staggering (focused shot), status buffes, and tanking
@@zhaf maxing that materia out and having matchup knowledge for hard mode goes a long way. The hell house was easier the second time around on hard mode because I learned the fight matchup haha. It wrecked me so badly on normal
@@BltzZ i fought Hell House (i do agree it's so much harder on normal lol) on a few occasions and the number of tonberries thrown out during Hard mode depends on which grade of hand massage you chose with Mdm M. If you chose the poor man's course, you'll only get 1 tonberry thrown out, and the difficulty to finishing it off is easier too. And if you picked the ultimate course at 3000g, hell house gets a a lot harder; throwing out 3 tonberries each time the door is open during the fight. try it!
@@BltzZ I think once you "get" FF7R combat you don't really have any problem with combat. On my normal playthrough it was Hell house and Eligor that made me really pay attention to what was going on. After them I didn't really had any difficulty with any combat in the game baring from some of the combat challenges. Once all the materia are maxed and you have fury rings/Platinum Earrings you can just dps down all the enemies including bosses in hard mode by exploiting their weaknesses. I've seen the speedrun strats. They're not far from what I am doing. They're just doing things faster.
Hey BltzZ, hopefully you're seeing this. Just needed some clarification. This setup allows you to survive Self Destruct only ONCE per fight, right? It does not allow for spamming Self Destruct, as that would absolutely be broken (I'm assuming). If that were the case, then how is it possible that the previous Barrett build mentions that: he needs to Self Destruct TWICE to get a Limit Break (due to his HP)? How does the survivability mechanic break down, in this case? I understand that it rests on both the weapon having Reprieve and the Warding+Subversion Materia combo.
You can survive only once per fight as cloud tifa and aerith, barrets health pool is really large and he can survive multiple because of his defense. He also needs 2 to get it. Don't worry if he dies you can just revive him or use carbuncle materia for a instant revive. I have another video on that method too. Titled carbuncle summon materia. If you die in this game you keep your limit break. Also another factor depends on how many enemies you hit with self destruct. If you hit more than 3 you can survive multiple SDs cuz of the health regen
Certain weapons have reprieve for characters. You need atleast 250sp to let the final skill tree appear in weapon upgrades. Subversion materia has a passive when paired with blue materia it can be enhanced. I believe it's warding materia you need to pair it with

Is the Fury Ring necessary to pull this off? And do you HAVE to use a weapon with Reprieve to make this work? Asking because I LOVE using the Buster Sword 🤔
You cover three essential parts of the build here: HP Absorption + Enemy Skill, Warding + Subversion, Reprieve. But it is not clear to me what each of these parts do. It would be nice if you covered it in details. E.g. I would expect it is enough to have Reprieve only. Ok, probably that would leave us on 1hp after the self-destruct. Probably that's what we need HP Absorption for. But it is still not clear why do we need Warding + Subversion and what's gonna happen if we don't have it.
I covered this in previous videos prior to this one. But basically we need Subversion and warding to avoid the instant death buff. Self destruct inflicts instant death debuff. Reprieve will not activate if instant death debuff is applied. So now that instant death debuff is no longer applicable thanks to warding and subversion, we drop to 1 HP but self destruct damage and HP absorb heal us back up from 1 to approximately 3000 or more. Hope this explains it well. Feel free to message me if you have any other concerns
@@BltzZ Exactly, Reprieve is redundant. It does not change anything. Just checked it. It is simply not triggered. Only Warding+Subversion can save you from dying, but you still loose HP. That's why you also need Absorption. So maybe you should clarify Reprieve is not relevant here.
@@nicolatesla378 so I just did a retest for you. Cloud with Mythril Blade which does NOT have reprieve but has a very high MGK ATK Stat. ES+HP Absorb & Subversion + Warding & 2 MGK UP. Cloud died from the first self destruct...my second test was cloud with twin stinger which has Reprieve but lower MGK ATK Stat. ES+HP Absorb & Subversion + Warding & 2 MGK UP. Cloud SURVIVED the first self destruct and reprieve says it ACTIVATED. Then I tried twin stinger self destruct again without Subversion + Warding and cloud DIED from the first Self destruct. Who did you test this on and what weapons do you have on to where you are surviving without reprieve? Even if you resist death with Subversion and warding & no Reprieve you still will die if the damage exceeds 9999 which it does. You'd need to hit enough enemies to deal enough to reheal and survive. Which is not a practical scenario. This method using Reprieve is practical for ALL scenarios against 1 enemy or 5. I even used this in a boss guide against the harbingers I released a few weeks ago. This method also assures you gain atleast 95% or full limit break off one Self destruct. Whereas with Barret if you have high HP and do this you will only gain 60 percent limit break bar for 1 enemy. Because his health naturally is too high.
@@BltzZ Hm, seems like things are more interesting than I thoughts. Test 1: Twin Stinger, no relevant materia => death. Test 2: Twin Stinger, Warding+Subversion => survive with Low HP. Test 3: Twin Stinger, Warding+Subversion, ES+HP Abs => survive with Medium HP. I never saw Reprieve activated 🤷♂️
I think it still will be. I believe this combination was intended because instant death resistance is so random to have on subversion like that! Going to do a full playthrough spamming this fear into enemies lol
Enemy skill self destruct can be learned from the machine enemies in sector 5 slums who blow up after you kill them. Or you can get it from the fireball enemies in the colliseum or legends bosses VR challenge. You can also get self destruct from another enemy but I do not know their name
this not working for me I require to self destruct 2 times before my limit break is full. And the second time I self destruct Cloud stays dead?! WHY?! I dont get it my Cloud has the same stat as yours. I am trying this against the Hell House in hard. I am following the instructions to the letter.
Few things to check..you have a fury ring on correct? With reprieve on iron blade? Also no HP ups. Make sure you have on a fury ring and 2 maxed out magic ups. Also subversion(any level) paired to a maxed out warding materia?
I'll take this into account. Hard Mode is kickng my ass so much that I'm starting not to have fun. I wish there was a difficulty in between Hard Mode and Normal because Chapter Select on Normal is too easy since you're starting on your Ch. 18 level, but hard Mode is just too hard for me.
HpAbsorb-enemyskill algid aura on cloud gives you a huge ton of HP by while attacking the enemy even if your being sat on or dazed. Great for hard mode because it's just working away for you while your trying to fight or evade
Also, learn to get good with using counterstance on Cloud with HardEdge. Tifa is the best DPS in the game, but sometimes she can be tough to use against certain enemies. Counterstance can counter 99% of all enemy attacks (even multiple enemies simultaneously) and you can breeze through enemies and save magic for boss fights if you need it. Just practice the timing, it can be tricky sometimes!
HAHAHA i contemplated on putting (without gotterdammerung) in the title but i figured against it XD hmm i may add it actually because now that i think about it many other may see this title and shy away thinking it is about the accessory! omg lol
All of my materia is maxed up, my weapons have reprieve, I've used this build on Cloud and Tifa with Fury Rang, Transference Module, and Göttersämmerung but none of it works. No matter if the enemy is a horde or a boss like the fat chocobo, and whatever or not its staggered or pressured, Cloud and Tifa never got a full limit break for me. What the hell am I missing?
Your magic attack stat needs to be the highest possible meaning 2 magic ups. Fury ring will guarantee a limit break. Also magic focused weapons with reprieve are recommended. So iron blade for cloud and Mythril Claws for tifa. I just used this method to defeat the harbinger bosses and am going to use on others. Feel free to check that video out I recently released that.
@@BltzZ I have two Magic Ups on Cloud, along with his Iron Blade which has 104 magic and reprieve but it still doesn't give me a limit. Even with or without the fury rings, and even if there were more than 4 enemies, the self destruct doesn't kill everyone in the radius and often fails to reach 80% of Cloud's limit gauge. Also even if i do get it to work, wouldn't it only be useful once since reprieve has a 1 per battle effect?
So I tried this now, its charging less. Had over 5k hp (no hp plus but stil over 5k), so expected to need to do 2 self destruct. Had to do 3, each self destruct with about 430 magic attack and 5090HP changes by about 30%. Tried with aerith with lower hp and almost 500 magic attack and also wouldnt charge all in one g, with her about 75%. Ahh just watched clip again, my mistake forgetting the beserk and low defense.
@@BltzZ It works a treat on mythril blade but cloud is weak physically on it. I got tired, so tired that when I swapped in iron blade for cloud, I forgot to put subversion and warding in linked slots and wondered why in boss fight was no reprieve lol. I fixed it then went bed, about to play some more, so will reply later. I am also curious if this triggers the trade off skill which recharges MP when taking big damage. If it does its even better.
@@BltzZ I can only get it working in one go with mythril blade, seems iron blade with 420 magic and 5020HP is too low magic and too much HP, thats with 2 maxed out magic plus, mythril blade with 440 magic (and the 20% boost with full MP) is enough. I am guessing about 500 magic attack is needed, as iron blade isnt even coming close, but somehow its working in your video with that lower magic. With mythril blade the superstar belt is needed if you dont want to revive after (accessory that gives reprieve). I noticed you used the fury ring instead of punisher beserk, I will test with that as maybe the beserk from fury ring is more powerful. Even with a weak str weapon and manual revive it can save a ton of time, I used it on the queen in the fan duct chapter 6, you have the timer to kill the enemies, using this trick, even with arise cast on cloud, I had about 30 secs left, never had anywhere near that much time left before.

Does this still work? I tried this with Tifa, but died when I self destruct. I used Mythril Claw with Reprieve, and had Subversion + Warding. My Warding is still lvl 2, so that might also be the reason. But, just want confirm, does this strat still work now?
It prevents you from dying from the debuff that self destruct gives. Self destruct gives "instant death" as a debuff and you will die without subversion and warding. Reprieve also works because of subversion and warding too

You need warding and subversion to eliminate the debuff called instant death which self destruct gives. Without those two materias you will die because reprieve will not proc. Reprieve does not proc if a "instant death" debuff is applied. I'm sorry I just now am seeing this comment idk why i was never notified
To make this work with Cloud i need to max out the Iron Blade right? I have 400 (more or less) magic power but i miss a little of the indicator of limit break when exploding

is it normal that the limit gauge wont be fully filled after self-destruct? I am using iron blade 2 magic material circlet (+5% magic damage, +10% mana) each time i self-destruct on single target, my limit break gauge isn't full, I've tried with mythril blade too but it is the same, and I didn't use any HP up on the character that using this build
Single target yup it won't always fill up but try the fury ring out instead of the circlet. It'll boost the damage even more and can either put your LB at 95 percent or 100!
I even tried to remove all +HP core on iron blade, turn out it is the same as mythril blade( 4820) since mythril blade doesn't have any +HP core in it, still won't instant fill on single target
The single target aspect of it can be wonky I guess focus on using it multiple times 2 should do it but you need a revive on standby. How much exactly are you getting?
@@BltzZ I've tried my build with all material settings as yours but I used Mythril Saber and 1 Magic up and I got a magic attack = 420 when I used Self-Destruct (with berserk) it only filled my limit 80-90%. Do you have any suggestions for this?
I just tried this, but failed miserably. Only materia I'm missing is the second Magic Up. Because of that I wasn't surprised to only get halfway to limit break, but the real problem is if I tried it a second time it just straight up killed my ass. Is the double Magic Up necessary, or is there something else I'm missing? 🤔
Double magic up us necessary and you need to have Reprieve unlocked on your weapon core. Those are the most important aspects. Also you need to have warding maxed out and paired with a subversion materia
can you help me with this? I did exactly what you show me, give Cloud the exact same weapon, same set up of Materias, but when I used Self-Destruct, it heal me only 2500+ HP, not 4000+ like you. I already had the Platinum Trophy, just want to try new set up to have fun.
I tried it last night but this reprieve doesnt activate...i always die...even with hp absorb...just doesnt work...reprieve is like concentration?..random?..

I do thing the Bahamut fight is easier since I always get super close to beating him when I do get past Levi. I guess I just don't have what it takes to get that trophy lol. Not a problem so starshower has a special effect where it buffs your next ability you use after it lands. So doing it before limit break buffs its damage by a crazy amount

@@BltzZ thanks for replying. I realized I didn't have ward maxed out. I went back and did so. And I did pretty much the same set up you got with cloud (using twin stinger) my hp is under 5k. I went into fury through punisher mode then self destruct. But @5:32 when you do it he losses about 1k hp. I lose almost 4k and still short of a limit break.

@@thescarletwitch9122 that fight was actually the easiest for me because of the Barret Infinite Health build. I customized it by adding maxed out Elemental + Lightning on both Tifa and Barret's armor, which made everything easier. Just focus on the appendage and when your health is low, either let yourself get hit by lightning or just whale on the minions to build up Barret's ATB.

Yooooo! I didn't know the transference module was so damn good at building limit break!? I used it on my 1st play and it didn't work out to well. This video gives more motivation to test it out on hard
It's absolutely broken when you use it on cloud with berserk haha. Other characters be sure to cast berserk on them before hand too!

if you do this strat with the Revival Earrings on Cloud, you could do it twice in a row (blow up > limit usage > blow up again > limit usage again), although it will take a second or two for Cloud to revive himself with the earrings. Probably loses the Berserk status as well the second time since he dies, but that should be an easy fix with Hold Square in Punisher Mode.

I've experimented with this trick in the Top secrets battle (as I'm trying to beat my own record). I've managed to fit two limit breaks (on top of the Gotterdammerung limit break) on Bahamut and Pride and Joy bosses. But it's pointless to fit a second one in as they're about to die anyway. With Fat Chocobo I've also fitted one in...but for me it doesn't speed up the fight that much. As for Shiva and Leviathan the fights seems even relatively shorter and so fitting a limit break in is also a little pointless. I've also experiemented with having Tifa equip with the Gotterdammerung whilst Cloud does the instant limit break trick...maybe I'm just not used to the changed style but that also did not do much to improve my record. So at the moment the "best" tactic for me is to do one instant limit break on Bahamut and Pride and Joy. it's helped me get my personal record down from 3:04 to the current 2:24. @@BltzZ I'm using Cloud for all limit breaks. However, I did try with Tifa and did what you suggested; starshower and then limit break. Actually that reminded me that when I use Cloud and if I can I'd use punisher mode then hold square and them limit break. I think that increases damage...I haven't done it that much to notice a difference yet. Will keep experimenting.
Seeing this makes me think I can actually finish pride and joy because I need the limit breaks cuz I get stuck at leviathan or bahamut
It's possible this can help take them out quickly just beware of the health for those situations and save the limit breaks towards the end to finish them off

It’s cool but I’m sure most real ff7 remake players would know that already also u only ever need 1 limit break it seems unless the boss is not damage locked then ya but if u want staggers and a fast limit break blizzaga raises stagger very high so I use raw damage to a point the lb for a finish and if the boss isn’t bound by damage refocus and blizzaga all the way but it’s still cool it makes better sense to use refocus the do the boom so u always atb chi trap is good with mobs to raise lb bar to chi trap spam stagger farm there are tons of ways to get fast lb also don’t forget to use poison or bad breath on bosses Posion rules in some boss battles but anyways great video as for warding materia one of best in game for status effects works wonders with keepin u safe and if u want a fast lb magnify blizzaga on mobs it will stagger them and u get lb so many ways to set up for the game I personally think that raw damage is better than spells only use pray or chakra u can get unlimited pray materia and 4 chakra materia so don’t really need heal materia I put refocus on all 3 players that’s 9 atb bars if u can get it done fast enough even reg blizzard works on mobs have fun keep makin vids

I'll try this build. Seems exciting with those instant limit breaks. And it's satisfying to see that you don't die after Self-destruct. No kidding on Aerith's limit break, man. I equipped the Gotterdammerung on Aerith and used Planet's Protection on my hard mode Sephiroth boss fight. It did help on making the 3rd phase battle quite easier but it's still tough, lol.
It's a tough fight but there are some pretty cool methods to bypass it :). Tricky tho I cannot lie but I'm up for the challenge

In Intergrade this works just fine! But on yuffie dlc unfortunately she does not have enemy skill 😢
@@BltzZ For me, this strat is building limit quickly, but not in 1 self destruct - it's taking about 3, with Cloud. And that's using the same build you are using in the video, it's still not 100% protecting me from the self-destruct insta death (all the materia on cloud is maxed out too); Though, I tested it via bahamut, so maybe bahamuts Aura damage messes with the strat in some way? or they patched it to fix this strat?

I used this very well in the harbingers boss guide I uploaded last week. Feel free to check it out! You can use it for Sephiroth too but I haven't finished editing the video because I've been busy streaming hehee. But you can change your build up before fighting Sephiroth if you want to by holding square in the beginning cutscene when him and cloud faceoff.

This is a tough one but if you can get both limit breaks to pop on two characters you will absolutely shred bahamut with this! Star shower with tifa before you dolphin flurry
Hi ! One major tip for the bahamut fight is to cast the manawall spell before the bahamut casts his megaflare on you (will halve the damage so some chars should survive to this). The rest of the fight is pretty "standard". GL, man !

Yes you can use them both at the same time on the same enemy very easily! They track very well with each other. I do it a few times in this video as well. Against regular enemies and fat chocobo!

Actually for Aerith the build could be nice with Refocus, giving her 3 ATB gauge early for the rest of the fight and she could devastate the ennemies with Arcane Ward and casting 2 powerfull spells in the row, or other of her support abilities to beneficiate the party.
Check out my infinite atb build video where I used that setup without the limit break self destruct but showcase how devastating 3 ATB aerith can be against top secret shiva!
I noticed you can only survive the first self destruct. If you do it more than once in a fight you’ll instant die but still get the limit break. Make sure to have another character use arise
Yup they should have arise on standby just incase. Mainly for barret since he has so much health he can survive this multiple times

The thing is i think barret doesn't need to use limit break because i think barret is best used for staggering (focused shot), status buffes, and tanking

I find hard mode so strange in this game. Once you have maxed out Materia I think hard mode is easier than normal mode.
@@zhaf maxing that materia out and having matchup knowledge for hard mode goes a long way. The hell house was easier the second time around on hard mode because I learned the fight matchup haha. It wrecked me so badly on normal
@@BltzZ i fought Hell House (i do agree it's so much harder on normal lol) on a few occasions and the number of tonberries thrown out during Hard mode depends on which grade of hand massage you chose with Mdm M. If you chose the poor man's course, you'll only get 1 tonberry thrown out, and the difficulty to finishing it off is easier too. And if you picked the ultimate course at 3000g, hell house gets a a lot harder; throwing out 3 tonberries each time the door is open during the fight. try it!
@@BltzZ I think once you "get" FF7R combat you don't really have any problem with combat. On my normal playthrough it was Hell house and Eligor that made me really pay attention to what was going on. After them I didn't really had any difficulty with any combat in the game baring from some of the combat challenges.
Once all the materia are maxed and you have fury rings/Platinum Earrings you can just dps down all the enemies including bosses in hard mode by exploiting their weaknesses. I've seen the speedrun strats. They're not far from what I am doing. They're just doing things faster.
Hey BltzZ, hopefully you're seeing this. Just needed some clarification. This setup allows you to survive Self Destruct only ONCE per fight, right? It does not allow for spamming Self Destruct, as that would absolutely be broken (I'm assuming).
If that were the case, then how is it possible that the previous Barrett build mentions that: he needs to Self Destruct TWICE to get a Limit Break (due to his HP)? How does the survivability mechanic break down, in this case? I understand that it rests on both the weapon having Reprieve and the Warding+Subversion Materia combo.
You can survive only once per fight as cloud tifa and aerith, barrets health pool is really large and he can survive multiple because of his defense. He also needs 2 to get it. Don't worry if he dies you can just revive him or use carbuncle materia for a instant revive. I have another video on that method too. Titled carbuncle summon materia. If you die in this game you keep your limit break. Also another factor depends on how many enemies you hit with self destruct. If you hit more than 3 you can survive multiple SDs cuz of the health regen
How do you use subversion materia? I’m trying to level it up. And also you mentioned reprieve how do you get that? Thanks again.
Certain weapons have reprieve for characters. You need atleast 250sp to let the final skill tree appear in weapon upgrades. Subversion materia has a passive when paired with blue materia it can be enhanced. I believe it's warding materia you need to pair it with

Ironblade and 2 magic ups the same setup that I'm running with ESkill💣💣! Does anybody knows if the Elemtbuffs from the twinstinger etc. Is boosting the ESkills? With the twinstinger it might buff some of the skills to ~15%, right??

All weapons are viable but over consistent damage for the self destruct it's better for iron blade. Algid Aura go for the twin stinger :)

You cover three essential parts of the build here: HP Absorption + Enemy Skill, Warding + Subversion, Reprieve. But it is not clear to me what each of these parts do. It would be nice if you covered it in details. E.g. I would expect it is enough to have Reprieve only. Ok, probably that would leave us on 1hp after the self-destruct. Probably that's what we need HP Absorption for. But it is still not clear why do we need Warding + Subversion and what's gonna happen if we don't have it.
I covered this in previous videos prior to this one. But basically we need Subversion and warding to avoid the instant death buff. Self destruct inflicts instant death debuff. Reprieve will not activate if instant death debuff is applied. So now that instant death debuff is no longer applicable thanks to warding and subversion, we drop to 1 HP but self destruct damage and HP absorb heal us back up from 1 to approximately 3000 or more. Hope this explains it well. Feel free to message me if you have any other concerns
@@BltzZ Exactly, Reprieve is redundant. It does not change anything. Just checked it. It is simply not triggered. Only Warding+Subversion can save you from dying, but you still loose HP. That's why you also need Absorption. So maybe you should clarify Reprieve is not relevant here.
@@nicolatesla378 so I just did a retest for you. Cloud with Mythril Blade which does NOT have reprieve but has a very high MGK ATK Stat. ES+HP Absorb & Subversion + Warding & 2 MGK UP. Cloud died from the first self destruct...my second test was cloud with twin stinger which has Reprieve but lower MGK ATK Stat. ES+HP Absorb & Subversion + Warding & 2 MGK UP. Cloud SURVIVED the first self destruct and reprieve says it ACTIVATED. Then I tried twin stinger self destruct again without Subversion + Warding and cloud DIED from the first Self destruct. Who did you test this on and what weapons do you have on to where you are surviving without reprieve? Even if you resist death with Subversion and warding & no Reprieve you still will die if the damage exceeds 9999 which it does. You'd need to hit enough enemies to deal enough to reheal and survive. Which is not a practical scenario. This method using Reprieve is practical for ALL scenarios against 1 enemy or 5. I even used this in a boss guide against the harbingers I released a few weeks ago. This method also assures you gain atleast 95% or full limit break off one Self destruct. Whereas with Barret if you have high HP and do this you will only gain 60 percent limit break bar for 1 enemy. Because his health naturally is too high.
@@BltzZ Hm, seems like things are more interesting than I thoughts. Test 1: Twin Stinger, no relevant materia => death. Test 2: Twin Stinger, Warding+Subversion => survive with Low HP. Test 3: Twin Stinger, Warding+Subversion, ES+HP Abs => survive with Medium HP. I never saw Reprieve activated 🤷♂️

Enemy skill self destruct can be learned from the machine enemies in sector 5 slums who blow up after you kill them. Or you can get it from the fireball enemies in the colliseum or legends bosses VR challenge. You can also get self destruct from another enemy but I do not know their name

I followed everything in your guide but for some reason Tifa's limit break is not full (missing a little bit) after the self destruct.
this not working for me I require to self destruct 2 times before my limit break is full. And the second time I self destruct Cloud stays dead?! WHY?! I dont get it my Cloud has the same stat as yours. I am trying this against the Hell House in hard. I am following the instructions to the letter.
Few things to check..you have a fury ring on correct? With reprieve on iron blade? Also no HP ups. Make sure you have on a fury ring and 2 maxed out magic ups. Also subversion(any level) paired to a maxed out warding materia?

I'll take this into account. Hard Mode is kickng my ass so much that I'm starting not to have fun. I wish there was a difficulty in between Hard Mode and Normal because Chapter Select on Normal is too easy since you're starting on your Ch. 18 level, but hard Mode is just too hard for me.
I know exactly what you mean, with hard mode I find as long as you keep spam switching characters all the fights become a breeze

Pressing up and down constantly to keep switching teammates to use ATB or attack. Doing this will keep the enemies confused on who to focus
HpAbsorb-enemyskill algid aura on cloud gives you a huge ton of HP by while attacking the enemy even if your being sat on or dazed. Great for hard mode because it's just working away for you while your trying to fight or evade
Also, learn to get good with using counterstance on Cloud with HardEdge. Tifa is the best DPS in the game, but sometimes she can be tough to use against certain enemies. Counterstance can counter 99% of all enemy attacks (even multiple enemies simultaneously) and you can breeze through enemies and save magic for boss fights if you need it. Just practice the timing, it can be tricky sometimes!

You should definitely try a no damage boss run.
We've done plenty of them by accident haha Rufus is probably the easiest in my opinion. The ghoul and eligor we have no damage runs as well on stream
All of my materia is maxed up, my weapons have reprieve, I've used this build on Cloud and Tifa with Fury Rang, Transference Module, and Göttersämmerung but none of it works. No matter if the enemy is a horde or a boss like the fat chocobo, and whatever or not its staggered or pressured, Cloud and Tifa never got a full limit break for me. What the hell am I missing?
Your magic attack stat needs to be the highest possible meaning 2 magic ups. Fury ring will guarantee a limit break. Also magic focused weapons with reprieve are recommended. So iron blade for cloud and Mythril Claws for tifa. I just used this method to defeat the harbinger bosses and am going to use on others. Feel free to check that video out I recently released that.
@@BltzZ I have two Magic Ups on Cloud, along with his Iron Blade which has 104 magic and reprieve but it still doesn't give me a limit. Even with or without the fury rings, and even if there were more than 4 enemies, the self destruct doesn't kill everyone in the radius and often fails to reach 80% of Cloud's limit gauge. Also even if i do get it to work, wouldn't it only be useful once since reprieve has a 1 per battle effect?

Yes and no. Weiss might not give enough meter back for it. but there is a better strategy I have. Check our weiss fight guide
So I tried this now, its charging less.
Had over 5k hp (no hp plus but stil over 5k), so expected to need to do 2 self destruct.
Had to do 3, each self destruct with about 430 magic attack and 5090HP changes by about 30%.
Tried with aerith with lower hp and almost 500 magic attack and also wouldnt charge all in one g, with her about 75%.
Ahh just watched clip again, my mistake forgetting the beserk and low defense.
All good, does it work now properly? Aerith should almost always get it maxed out haha

It works a treat on mythril blade but cloud is weak physically on it.
I got tired, so tired that when I swapped in iron blade for cloud, I forgot to put subversion and warding in linked slots and wondered why in boss fight was no reprieve lol. I fixed it then went bed, about to play some more, so will reply later.
I am also curious if this triggers the trade off skill which recharges MP when taking big damage. If it does its even better.
@@BltzZ I can only get it working in one go with mythril blade, seems iron blade with 420 magic and 5020HP is too low magic and too much HP, thats with 2 maxed out magic plus, mythril blade with 440 magic (and the 20% boost with full MP) is enough. I am guessing about 500 magic attack is needed, as iron blade isnt even coming close, but somehow its working in your video with that lower magic. With mythril blade the superstar belt is needed if you dont want to revive after (accessory that gives reprieve).
I noticed you used the fury ring instead of punisher beserk, I will test with that as maybe the beserk from fury ring is more powerful.
Even with a weak str weapon and manual revive it can save a ton of time, I used it on the queen in the fan duct chapter 6, you have the timer to kill the enemies, using this trick, even with arise cast on cloud, I had about 30 secs left, never had anywhere near that much time left before.
How do you manage to self destruct 3 times? My Cloud stays dead after the second self destruct. I cant even fill the limit break.

And this is why we have multi phase bosses. They knew dam well Limit Break cheese could pretty much 1 shot their bosses haha.

I tried this with Tifa, but died when I self destruct.
I used Mythril Claw with Reprieve, and had Subversion + Warding.
My Warding is still lvl 2, so that might also be the reason.
But, just want confirm, does this strat still work now?

I don't think the developers intended Insta Death Ward to protect against self-destruct.
It was working on a self destruct for cloud but now when I do it it only gets my limit break to like 80% why is that?
Question why do you need Warding+Subversion if it doesn't prevent you from Self-Destruct?
It prevents you from dying from the debuff that self destruct gives. Self destruct gives "instant death" as a debuff and you will die without subversion and warding. Reprieve also works because of subversion and warding too

You need warding and subversion to eliminate the debuff called instant death which self destruct gives. Without those two materias you will die because reprieve will not proc. Reprieve does not proc if a "instant death" debuff is applied. I'm sorry I just now am seeing this comment idk why i was never notified

is it normal that the limit gauge wont be fully filled after self-destruct? I am using

circlet (+5% magic damage, +10% mana)
each time i self-destruct on single target, my limit break gauge isn't full, I've tried with mythril blade too but it is the same, and I didn't use any HP up on the character that using this build
Single target yup it won't always fill up but try the fury ring out instead of the circlet. It'll boost the damage even more and can either put your LB at 95 percent or 100!
Are you going into berserk with cloud before you self destruct?
Yes I've entered berserk mode before SD, it just won't fully filled, even when I used it on starrgered enemy and with critical proc
I even tried to remove all +HP core on iron blade, turn out it is the same as mythril blade( 4820) since mythril blade doesn't have any +HP core in it, still won't instant fill on single target
The single target aspect of it can be wonky I guess focus on using it multiple times 2 should do it but you need a revive on standby. How much exactly are you getting?

So, you can use this trick only one time per battle, right? since Reprieve can use once per battle.
Technically you can still do it. They'll just die and you have to revive. They'll keep the LB
@@BltzZ I've tried my build with all material settings as yours but I used Mythril Saber and 1 Magic up and I got a magic attack = 420 when I used Self-Destruct (with berserk) it only filled my limit 80-90%. Do you have any suggestions for this?
I just tried this, but failed miserably. Only materia I'm missing is the second Magic Up. Because of that I wasn't surprised to only get halfway to limit break, but the real problem is if I tried it a second time it just straight up killed my ass.

Double magic up us necessary and you need to have Reprieve unlocked on your weapon core. Those are the most important aspects. Also you need to have warding maxed out and paired with a subversion materia

I did exactly what you show me, give Cloud the exact same weapon, same set up of Materias, but when I used Self-Destruct, it heal me only 2500+ HP, not 4000+ like you.
I already had the Platinum Trophy, just want to try new set up to have fun.

I do thing the Bahamut fight is easier since I always get super close to beating him when I do get past Levi. I guess I just don't have what it takes to get that trophy lol. No it's still the same. You have to hit atleast 1 big enemy or 2 little enemies. And make sure your weapon has reprieve
Wouldn’t supernatural wrist guards be better to use for cloud than the fury ring
If you plan to use the beserk buff for cloud everytime before you use self destruct then sure go for it
Oh sorry to ask... how do the Starshower relate to the Dolphin Flurry? Why do we have to perform it before the Limit Break?
Not a problem so starshower has a special effect where it buffs your next ability you use after it lands. So doing it before limit break buffs its damage by a crazy amount

You can but its tricky. You'd need to do it with tifa so the pressure gauge lasts longer. Try blending it with my top secrets fight guide

@@BltzZ thanks for replying. I realized I didn't have ward maxed out. I went back and did so. And I did pretty much the same set up you got with cloud (using twin stinger) my hp is under 5k. I went into fury through punisher mode then self destruct. But @5:32 when you do it he losses about 1k hp. I lose almost 4k and still short of a limit break.
