I think Corviknight is so fantastic. The fact that you can get a Steel type halfway into your game is such an advantage. It's the best type in the game, and having that Flying type as a back up makes it a superior Skarmory. I used it on my team in Scarlet and the way it would rip through a majority of the battles I faced reinforced my love for it. Especially since I have a shiny one.😍

Though this Pokemon was not mentioned, Ampharos helped me in key situations early on. Catching Mareep early in Gen II and leveling it up was so worth it. Think it deserves some recognition.

There are 2 Pokémon that I think are absolutely underrated.
Firstly is golem. Golem is an absolute beast in the johto region. Geodude trivializes the first half of the game and continues to make notable actions against jasmine and Clair in the second half. Let’s also not forget how this thing steamrolls lance. In other games geodude is also great. In DPPT, geodude has a great matchup against the first few galactic matchups which are some of the more difficult battles in that game. Golem/Graveler can then help against Cyrus and Volkner in the late game. And Golem has a pretty high attack stat and elemental punches so it’s not completely restricted to defensive play. In hoenn geodude is like numel but better in every single aspect. Stab EQ and Rock blast is always nice and being able to shut down Wattson, Flannery, and Norman makes for a great mid game Pokémon. In kanto geodude kinda does get outclassed by dugtrio and the nidos but can still be a solid team member. Overall a great Pokémon.
Second Pokémon I want to mention is this 🐀. Hear me out bro. Ratata evolves really early at level 20 and in frlg it gets access to stab hyper fang at level 13 which is insane. It’s fast and hits decently hard for how early it is available so having a stab 80bp move that can flinch is wonderful. I haven’t even mentioned the fact that this thing gets guts which is a criminally underrated ability. Pre poison this rat and it will tear through the mid game. In frlg it even gets access to dig and physical shadow ball for some fantastic coverage moves. It falls off in the late game slightly but not too hard. In johto raticate is even better. In hgss It now gets crunch by level up meaning you don’t need to use a shadow ball tm on it (you probably shouldn’t do that post Gen 4 anyway lol). And crunch just so happens to be in time for the ghost gym. It’s also got some other good coverage moves in Gen 4 such as u-turn and pluck. Pluck is especially nice for the pesky fighting types. Another very interesting thing raticate got is swords dance via move relearned and tm. It’s probably better to just have guts but if you want to go the swords dance route you can. In BW2, Raticate doesn’t really get any major buffs other than I guess wild charge by tm. But it’s still available early and can do massive damage with guts facade.

    • @Maxl6965
      @Maxl6965 9 місяців тому +1

I agree with raticate but isn’t golem trade evo which makes it pretty hard to get (also you need switch online to trade in bdsp. not in d/p/pt or hg/ss though)

Not because he is a contender for top 10, but because he is enormously underrated while his typing, availability in tutorial area and ability to reach second evo at lv19 make him a really great asset. I continue to be a Talonflame supporter. Getting a Fletchling early (especially in Scarlet/Violet where you can get it in area one) sets up your game for a LONG time. Acrobatics plus high speed will destroy most pokemon, especially the bug and grass types which are so common early game. When steel or Ice becomes more common, fire attacks like Flame charge or eventually Flare Blitz will keep it relevant.
Talonflame won't win you a competition, but for taking care of random trainers and clearing out wild pokemon, you can do a LOT worse then this speedy assassin for much of the game.

Gardevoir has issues in Kalos with its movepool. You'll have to make do without any Fairy-type attacks whatsoever until after you beat the 6th gym, which gives you the TM for Dazzling Gleam. One town later and you can upgrade that to Moonblast via Move Reminder, but it sucks that it doesn't get anything earlier.

Everything said about Hawlucha can be said about Flamigo, except Flamigo is arguably better. You can get it very early at around level 7, having access to it before you even get to the first pokemon center. Flamigo easily solos the first two gyms (bug & grass), beats the first team star base (dark), and at level 18 learns low kick which absolutely destroys the first titan, klawf. It also comes in handy against the team star fighting base and against Larry (gym). With the scrappy ability it can hit ghost types with fighting STAB and also makes flamigo immune to intimidate. It ended up always being my highest level mon throughout my playthrough, it's almost way too good

honestly, i grab one as soon as the game lets me, so powerful, great level up moves and the TM's/TR's only add to the power, Thunderbolt being a prime example.
Even Syncronise has came in clutch a few times spreading statuses to my opponents lol (and its nice snagging modest natures)

You know what Pokemon would be a formidable opponent to the #1 Gyarados? Ampharos! Lighting type, high defenses, very high Sp Atk, and access to Power Gem, and lots of lighting moves. And you can get it pretty early on.

I’d put my petition in for Flamigo. It has comparable stats to Hawlucha and the same typing and you can find it before the story of the game even starts. Plus it’s typing can let it steam roll the first 4 bosses of the region.

Flamigo has actually a better stat spread than hawlucha from an in-game perspective, and as good if not better abilities too. It's just that Flamigo really miss that brick break hawlucha has levelling up. I'd say Hawlucha has a better movepool in general.

Don't agree with the first two. I think Swellow, if any early bird, is good for early game. Staraptor evolves at lvl. 34, at which point you're in the mid-game for most games. Swellow evolves at lvl 22 which is super early, plus it potentially has guts. This means you'll actually have Swellow to use in the early game, you don't even need to grind a lot to get it, if you want it super-early. I also don't think Clefable is good early game, it's decent sure, but its wide move pool won't be relevant before you reach the mid-game in most of the Pokemon games. Flamethrower, thunderbolt etc aren't moves you access until the mid-point or past it most of the time and before that Clefable has middling battle potential.

I have thought about something. Why is Altaria a flying AND dragon when Gyarados is only a Water/Flying type??? Does this BIIIG dragon looking fish not deserve a dragon typing instead of flying while Altaria a decent looking bird can? I mean flying and fairy typing fits Altaria much better in my opinion.

I'll never shut up about this, because people DO need to hear it: in Gen 1, 500 Pokedollars for a Magikarp is an Arceus-send. Sure, you will have to spend a lot of time giving it EXP, but if you can get it to 20 BEFORE facing Misty, you have THE best option to challenge her Starmie, who is too strong for even Ivysaur unless you overgrind. Gyarados' own 100 Special neutralizes Bubblebeam AND Bite is more than enough to shred Starmie. After that, give him Bubblebeam, and it'll shred thru most of the game. You'd be spending the same mount of time grinding Bulbasaur/Ivysaur to be able to check Starmie's 100 Special anyway, so might as well use that time to get Gyarados sooner.
Hell, he's a better Dragonite in normal gameplay. Already a pain in the ass to get Dratini, then grinding in Gen 1 is the worst, so going to 55 is a pain. And while Dragonite is amazing, it's ultimately not worth the effort for the story. By contrast, with only the cost of SLIGHTLY worse stats and a more common double weakness, Gyarados has two powerful STAB moves, Thunderbolt and Blizzard, Hyper Beam, and the Attack and Special to fuel them.
For that reason, I never choose Squirtle anymore in my Gen 1 games. I can already get a FAR better Water type long before I even get Blastoise.

My Anihilape is my baby. I beat the entire game with it. And i call it Survivor. All the pokemon in my Forever Team are named after jojo stands.
    Anihilape is Survivor.
    Blastoise is Diver Down
    Torterra is Oasis
    Chandelure is my Purple Haze.
Rhyperior is called instead of 20th Century Boy itll be shorted to 20BC.
    And Registeel would be Metallica.
And as fate would have it. Every single one of them knows the move CURSE. As a result. And as a last resort. Any one of them can be terrastylized into a Ghost Type, and the curse can be placed on the opposition at any given time. And without it. They get a power boost.
So i call them, The Cursed Ones.
