Still supercede slam being the only good physical electric move is tragic.
Being an Electric Physical attacker is one of the of the worst fate a Pokemon can face (unless you're a Togedemaru with a good built-in signature move) due to the options being hot garbage. It's worse than Physical Fire really.
Technically Frenzy Plant, Blast Burn, and Hydro Cannon were exclusive to the Kanto starters' final evolutions, with the others not able to get them until Diamond and Pearl onwards, the only exception being the Johto starters in XD
They really aren't. All the physical attacking starters will never run them, and even the special attackers would only have them so they can have more powerful max or z moves of their respective types. No two turn move that doesn't have weather synergy, raise an attacking stat or is Geomancy sees any serious play in competitive play.
I think the only time any of them were viable was blast burn with charizard in gen 3 ou because of how absurdly strong it would hit after petaya berry, blaze, and potentially sun. I think it can 1-shot a Blissey with all those power-ups which is really insane
Gonna be honest, while I did remember Court Change actually exist and is one of Cinderace signature moves, I didn't remember Mat Block even existed. At all. In fact, I never learnt how it worked in gen 6, because I didn't consult wikis as much at that point, and the game didn't tell you that it only works on the first turn. So yeah, I erased the existance of that move from my mind.
I don't know if they are proper signature moves but Razor Shell, Leaf tornado, Flame wheel, Tatamigaeshi and court change could have definitely been mentioned.
Another thing about Inteleon’s signature move: It has innate Stalwart/Propeller Tail, giving it a niche over its other water stabs since it can’t be redirected by Storm Drain, Follow Me, or Rage Powder
till this day Greninja's Protean nerf and Battle Bond nerf hurts me, i know im probably the only one since Greninja was hated for being in almost evey team but damn he was a fun pokemon
The Kanto starters could only learn Hydro Canon, Blast Burn, and Frenzy Root on gen 3 via move tutors. Lets put all on S tier cuz of them as gmax moves!
I also love it. It fits magician vibe so well. In fact, I don't really hate any post gen 6 starters. The one I'm not fond of is just normal Typhlosion. It's bland but still nice.
Inteleon's snipe shot should have honestly gotten meowscarada's effect. A sniper built on critical hits makes more sense than funny magician cat to have an always critting no miss move.
In 8 they were trying not to break the game wide open with the starter moves. In Gen 9 they stopped pretending to care about balance. That's why Torch Song is literally just Volcarona's already powerful signature move Fiery Dance but with the effect chance doubled. They moved the goalpost on balance.
one of the interesting aspects of Water Shuriken is that its surprisingly effective w/King's rock when the flinch chance works, especially if Greninja can come in behind a substitute and/or is able to have Evasion stacks as long as there's no water immune mons. I can still recall my Greninja flinching a human opponent's venusaur for legit over 10 turns straight from Water Shuriken Spam w/King's rock flinch chance activating back in da x & y days. sure the chance is low since you're more than likely to hit 2-3 times rather than 4-5 but it weirdly works decently well 🤔 as for da High Crit rate moves like Leaf Blade/Blaze Kick, those're some of my fave moves, esp Blaze Kick's animation in the Colosseum/Battle Revolution spin-off series. sure their power/accuracy(for Blaze Kick) may be their weak point but the high crit ratios really nice. I always like using these even if there's stronger moves that could be used (depends on generation)
Sincerally, i would separate regular gren from ash gren. In greninja case i agree with everything you said thats a A rank move for being a priority stab that has a chance for big damage. But in ash gren case, thats a priority stab in a hands of legendary level sp.atk that always deals big damage, cuz battle bond not only raises the move's bp to 25 per hit, but guarantees 3 hits instead of 2. For good mesures the only priority that surpass the bp of a 5 hits battle bond water shuriken is none other than kingambit's FIVE FALLEN BLACKGLASSES sucker punch (thats S+ for me)
The Kanto starters were the only ones to learn Hydro Canon, Blast Burn, and Frenzy Root on gen 3 via move tutors. Lets put all on S tier cuz of them as gmax moves!
Darkest Lariat haunts me as it is the best move the Unrivaled Incineroar brings when you keep your defense very high via Psych Up from it's Bulk Up spam.
Another problem with Muddy Water is that you’ll probably have already Surf from beating Norman before Swampert gets Muddy Water at level 39, and Marshtomp only gets it if you hold off evolving it to Swampert for one level at 37
@@marioipod you’re probably misremembering because Serebii, Bulbapedia, and PokemonDB list Swampert learning Muddy Water at 39 from gens 3-7 and 42 in gens 8 & 9. He does learn protect at 46 in gens 3-5 and XY and doesn’t learn anything at 46 in ORAS or gens 7-9
It’s crazy how all the starter signature moves in d tier are excellent on Ubers in that meta, like heat crash primal groudon being like 120bp against Pokémon like necrozma dusk mane, leaf blade is the grass attack for physical attackers, and mystical fire is a great addition to xerneas to hit steel types with a move stronger than hidden power
I use to use mystical fire during that gen. It actually worked pretty well and helped me rank higher than I have before 😂 I would run a full defense/Sp. Defense delphox with will-o-wisp, mystical fire, grass knot, & psyshock with a weakness policy.
physical leaf blade at 90 base power is slightly stronger than special leaf blade at 70 power (in gen 3) for Sceptile, so your ranking makes no sense. It should at least be B tier imo.
I know its not a signature move but i really think Infernape goes really nice with Fire Blitz. Maybe its because Diamond was the first game I ever played, or because the anime really did an amazing job with Ash's Infernape. And, with Fire Blitz being introduced in Gen 4, where if you didn't choose Infernape probably you didn't had a fire type on your team. Nice video
mom can we have flower trick? we have flower trick at home. flower trick at home: Leaf blade but really its not that bad. a base 90 physical grass type move with an increased chance to crit is still really good. but for 20 base power less, you got guarenteed crits and always hits. yeah sceptile is primarily a special attacker, but it still got decent physical attack stat. plus it aestetically fits because of the leaf blades on its arms
I feel bad for Inteleon. It's got a signature move that only has a higher chance of criting, Only fot Urshifu to show up in the DLC and have signature moves that do what Inteleons should have. Then just to rub salt in the wound, gen 9 just makes Meowscarada.
Here’s a little tip for everyone: go on Pokémon showdown, stabmons, skill link cloyster, shell smash, water shuriken, any other moves you want. Throw a fire and grass type in there for coverage and win games.
When i was doing my first playthrough of violet. i just used torchsong and swept every team once i had the evolution. pumping special attack every turn, made it to where was one shotting with 1/2 or 1/4 effectiveness still.
Flower Trick is basically Slash and Razor Leaf in gen 1, which would crit nearly 100% the time, only difference is that Flower Trick never miss and have higher base atk. l'm a huge fan of the entire Sprigatito line but who the fk thought that bring back the most broken thing in gen1 but on steroids was a good idea? 😂
i hope the johto, sinnoh and kanto starters get signature moves in the future, it would be pretty fun to speculate on what moves they could get, especially with the ones that dont see much action like meganium maybe some sort of grass type hex for venusaur, or a move for meganium that works like giga drain but heals all active party members that you have out (maybe 50% for singles and doubles like giga drain, but 33% in triples? idk, not like triples is a super important format) something like ceaseless edge for torterra but with stealth rock could be interesting an idea i had for blastoise could be a multi-hitting water type move that always hits either 2 or 4 times, and knocks down flying types like with smack down. going for a sort of "surface to air missile" cannon approach to fit with blastoise
The Sinnoh starters had pseudo signature moves in Arceus. I say pseudo as Headlong Rush, Raging Fury, and Wave Crash are shared by Ursaluna, Hisuian Arcanine, and the White Stripe Basculin line, they were the only other Pokémon that learned it but yeah It would be nice to see that
also, technically in PLA, torterra, empoleon, and infernape gain headlong rush, wave crash, and raging fury as signature moves, respectively! (and lowkey also razor shell for samurott in BW)
at around 10:18 I had a thought: does it count as losing a signature move if that move was the signature move of a new regional variant, but the original form can learn it now as well? Or vice versa.

@@akshayreddy4071 SERIOUSLY!!!
Being an Electric Physical attacker is one of the of the worst fate a Pokemon can face (unless you're a Togedemaru with a good built-in signature move) due to the options being hot garbage.
It's worse than Physical Fire really.
I used an inteleon in a romhack and it was CRACKED oneshotting most if not everything with critical hit rain boosted snipe shots
Give Quaquaval Victory Dance to Pair with Aqua Step and Moxie, and that duck will break UU in half.
Your vids are amazing keep making more!
Technically Frenzy Plant, Blast Burn, and Hydro Cannon were exclusive to the Kanto starters' final evolutions, with the others not able to get them until Diamond and Pearl onwards, the only exception being the Johto starters in XD
Blast Burn, Hydro Canon and Frenzy Plant are still god level
They really aren't. All the physical attacking starters will never run them, and even the special attackers would only have them so they can have more powerful max or z moves of their respective types. No two turn move that doesn't have weather synergy, raise an attacking stat or is Geomancy sees any serious play in competitive play.
Sure if you want a fancy hyper beam/giga impact
I think the only time any of them were viable was blast burn with charizard in gen 3 ou because of how absurdly strong it would hit after petaya berry, blaze, and potentially sun. I think it can 1-shot a Blissey with all those power-ups which is really insane
Have we all forgotten about Court Change??
Yes what is that
Forgotten about mat block
4:57 is footage of the fan game called “this gym of mine” the aggron was its regional form for that of you were wondering how I knew
3:52 It also doesn't learn Scald in Gen 9
Bro forgor about Mat Block on Greninja
(like any other person probably)
Gonna be honest, while I did remember Court Change actually exist and is one of Cinderace signature moves, I didn't remember Mat Block even existed. At all. In fact, I never learnt how it worked in gen 6, because I didn't consult wikis as much at that point, and the game didn't tell you that it only works on the first turn. So yeah, I erased the existance of that move from my mind.
ceaseless edge is definitely the most broken in singles, followed by torch song
the former is insane on literally any mon
I don't know if they are proper signature moves but Razor Shell, Leaf tornado, Flame wheel, Tatamigaeshi and court change could have definitely been mentioned.
Another thing about Inteleon’s signature move:
It has innate Stalwart/Propeller Tail, giving it a niche over its other water stabs since it can’t be redirected by Storm Drain, Follow Me, or Rage Powder
till this day Greninja's Protean nerf and Battle Bond nerf hurts me, i know im probably the only one since Greninja was hated for being in almost evey team but damn he was a fun pokemon
The one good use I can think of for sparkling aria is against a flame orb guts user. For example, against an Ursaluna, that would be devastating.
If it's still holding the flame orb, the guts would just re activate.
@@swag_uwu Oh. Sorry. My stupidity was showing.
@@solarbear7229yes but if you move faster then you deactivate it till the end of the turn
Wait what? First time I've ever heard that sound based moves pass through substitute 😂
I'm surprised elemental hyperbeams didn't make the cut. Also razor shell, leaf tornado, eruption, petal dance?
I wonder how much this list would change if we just considered the moves by themselves and not how they perform on the pokemon they were made for.
The lower ones def might move but the really high ones are probably not gonna budge
Blastoise was the only pokemon to learn skull bash by level up in gen 1 F tier
But it was a TM, so it wasn't truly exclusive.
The Kanto starters could only learn Hydro Canon, Blast Burn, and Frenzy Root on gen 3 via move tutors.
Lets put all on S tier cuz of them as gmax moves!
@@leeeroyjenkins555so the jhoto/hoenn starters couldnt?
Delphox's design is egregiously overhated
100% agreed.
Honestly, I don’t get the hate for it. I actually liked it tbh.
Especially considering other mons designs 🥴 delphox is definitely better, including starters even made after the pokemon. People are just coping
It’s easily one of the best looking new Pokémon in a while
I also love it. It fits magician vibe so well. In fact, I don't really hate any post gen 6 starters. The one I'm not fond of is just normal Typhlosion. It's bland but still nice.
Agreed! Weed kitty is the best!
Weed Kitty
Witty
Court Change : "Am I a fk joke to you?"
Inteleon's snipe shot should have honestly gotten meowscarada's effect. A sniper built on critical hits makes more sense than funny magician cat to have an always critting no miss move.
Sniper shot has the can’t be redirected quality which is good because storm drain exists and it has sniper as its hidden ability anyway
0/10 me like funny magic cat
@@SomeDudeWhoIsntDead me like cat furry :3
In 8 they were trying not to break the game wide open with the starter moves.
In Gen 9 they stopped pretending to care about balance. That's why Torch Song is literally just Volcarona's already powerful signature move Fiery Dance but with the effect chance doubled. They moved the goalpost on balance.
@@scoobiusmaximus9508 I don't think Fiery Dance was used much, but that's because Volcarona already has the obscenely powerful Quiver Dance.
one of the interesting aspects of Water Shuriken is that its surprisingly effective w/King's rock when the flinch chance works, especially if Greninja can come in behind a substitute and/or is able to have Evasion stacks as long as there's no water immune mons.
I can still recall my Greninja flinching a human opponent's venusaur for legit over 10 turns straight from Water Shuriken Spam w/King's rock flinch chance activating back in da x & y days.
sure the chance is low since you're more than likely to hit 2-3 times rather than 4-5
but it weirdly works decently well 🤔
as for da High Crit rate moves like Leaf Blade/Blaze Kick, those're some of my fave moves, esp Blaze Kick's animation in the Colosseum/Battle Revolution spin-off series.
sure their power/accuracy(for Blaze Kick) may be their weak point but the high crit ratios really nice.
I always like using these even if there's stronger moves that could be used
(depends on generation)
Quaquaval with Moxie makes Aqua Step an S Tier. Basically a Dragon Dance that does damage (assuming it KO's)
7:42 T-POSE RED LION JUMPSCARE
Finally a list of all starter signature move lists that includes spikey shield
Leaf Blade, Crab Hammer, and the Fire, Ice and Thunder Punches should have been exceptions to the pre split rules
I think near the end, the editing is slightly off for the images are showing up a few seconds earlier than they want to based on the audio
Found this video on my recommended, great video definitely worth subscribing to the channel
Good to see the coolest Gen 9 Starter getting the respect it deserves! Meowscarada FTW!!!
Another problem with Muddy Water is that you’ll probably have already Surf from beating Norman before Swampert gets Muddy Water at level 39, and Marshtomp only gets it if you hold off evolving it to Swampert for one level at 37
Actually Swampert gets Muddy Water at Level 46. I know because I have personally used Swampert.
Incineroar got Knock Off in Gen 7 with USUM’s Move Tutors
It’s crazy how all the starter signature moves in d tier are excellent on Ubers in that meta, like heat crash primal groudon being like 120bp against Pokémon like necrozma dusk mane, leaf blade is the grass attack for physical attackers, and mystical fire is a great addition to xerneas to hit steel types with a move stronger than hidden power
I haven't played LA, so it's always kinda funny hearing about Hisui Decidueye. My only frame of reference is PMex, where he's absolutely busted good.
It's a good game! You should check it out. And it has no competitive so use whatever you want. I cheesed the superboss with a Hippowdon of all things.
@@BJGvideos yeah, I'll definitely get around to it. Only heard good things, and I bet I can get a used copy at this point
Swampert’s Muddy Water used to be a favorite but wound up just replacing it with Surf
Aqua step terrifies me. One moxie boost and it's game over
Oi Josuke! I did a little dance and now all 6 of my opponents pokemon are dead! Ain't that wacky?
1:01 the worst part is I can’t tell if this is sarcasm or not
I use to use mystical fire during that gen. It actually worked pretty well and helped me rank higher than I have before 😂
I would run a full defense/Sp.
Meowscarada is literally my favorite starter so I'm so proud to see my goat to have the top signature move 😭
Nice video
mom can we have flower trick?
we have flower trick at home.
flower trick at home: Leaf blade
but really its not that bad. a base 90 physical grass type move with an increased chance to crit is still really good. but for 20 base power less, you got guarenteed crits and always hits.
yeah sceptile is primarily a special attacker, but it still got decent physical attack stat. plus it aestetically fits because of the leaf blades on its arms
I feel bad for Inteleon. It's got a signature move that only has a higher chance of criting, Only fot Urshifu to show up in the DLC and have signature moves that do what Inteleons should have. Then just to rub salt in the wound, gen 9 just makes Meowscarada.
I can't wait for a gen 10 starter's signature move to just give an omni boost every time it's used.
Here’s a little tip for everyone: go on Pokémon showdown, stabmons, skill link cloyster, shell smash, water shuriken, any other moves you want. Throw a fire and grass type in there for coverage and win games.
People forget skeledirge can have throat spray making a +1 boost into a plus two on your FIRST torch song
Rank all the Partner and G-Max moves from worst the best - COMPARED TO EACH Other
When i was doing my first playthrough of violet. i just used torchsong and swept every team once i had the evolution. pumping special attack every turn, made it to where was one shotting with 1/2 or 1/4 effectiveness still.
Aqua step also activates Oricorio's Dancer, but that's a minor and niche detail and will hardly ever see competitive use
Wait, sound moves go through Substitute?

I think Delphox has an AMAZING design. Friendly fire witch/sorceress
i hope the johto, sinnoh and kanto starters get signature moves in the future, it would be pretty fun to speculate on what moves they could get, especially with the ones that dont see much action like meganium
maybe some sort of grass type hex for venusaur, or a move for meganium that works like giga drain but heals all active party members that you have out (maybe 50% for singles and doubles like giga drain, but 33% in triples? idk, not like triples is a super important format)
something like ceaseless edge for torterra but with stealth rock could be interesting
an idea i had for blastoise could be a multi-hitting water type move that always hits either 2 or 4 times, and knocks down flying types like with smack down. going for a sort of "surface to air missile" cannon approach to fit with blastoise
Skull Bash is actually the squirtle Line's signature move
The Sinnoh starters had pseudo signature moves in Arceus. I say pseudo as Headlong Rush, Raging Fury, and Wave Crash are shared by Ursaluna, Hisuian Arcanine, and the White Stripe Basculin line, they were the only other Pokémon that learned it but yeah
It would be nice to see that
@@F14thunderhawk i didnt actually know that damn
weird for squirtle to get one and not the others
@@mudkiporsomething9755i would prefer blastoise relearning zap cannon and having the ability mega launcher and allows it to also boost cannon moves
I don’t get why people don’t like Delphox
Me either. It's a frickin wizard what's not to like?
how did you forget! cinderace has 2 signature moves, it also has court change!
also, technically in PLA, torterra, empoleon, and infernape gain headlong rush, wave crash, and raging fury as signature moves, respectively! (and lowkey also razor shell for samurott in BW)
oh yeah, and greninja has mat block as well!
I feel like number 1 and 2 could be swap tbh great list im subscribing
Whoa, greninja's mat block must be rated pretty highly. I'm pretty far into the video and waiting in anticipation 😀
Sparkling Aria is also good against Guts, which is relatively common on competitive Pokémon
at around 10:18 I had a thought: does it count as losing a signature move if that move was the signature move of a new regional variant, but the original form can learn it now as well? Or vice versa.
i dont play competitive but for raids my Skeldirge is a special wall. Max HP and SPDef with assault vest XD Torch Song makes it possible to actually deal damage
The partner pokemon moves are absurd, and you should def rank them.
I didn't even know Sceptile focused on special attack I just assumed that because of his looks and signature move he was a physical attacker
