- If you’re thinking about purchasing a diagnostic tool, you should really spend some time researching what’s available & also more importantly - what your new tool MUST be able to do for you...
Here, I’m just showing you what I bought for a pretty low price to help diagnose faults on a range of vehicle makes/models. - Авто та транспорт
Excellent tutorial again thanks
The memory full fault is for the counter...
You need reset it... but not with that scanner...
ISTA can do it...
👍
Follow your channel too... You need to run courses for independent mechanics Louis .. spread your tech expertise!

Im using this device for year now with BMW and its going good, live data will help you diagnose the failure sensor for example by the way ignore turn ignition off fot 10 sec. Goodluck from France.
Thx bud keep up the fab vlogs
Hi m8. Best advice I can give with using that Autel with your car is to make a note of all the readings whilst the car is running ok with no faults. This will then become your base point for future use to trace faults. I learnt this from Eric The Car Guy.
That’s a good idea 👍
Hi .. Love your vids by the way. I have spent half of my life trying to find the best DIY scanner / diag tool.
I'm just curious why you decided against the the Foxwell NT520 vs MD802 All systems. They're comparably priced.
Although people seem to agree that the foxwell is slower it seems to me like the foxwell has more bi-directional testing capabilities. Foxwell does 2 types/brands of car at any one time but you can purchase different firmware for if you change a car in the future.
Feel like I'm missing something and don't want to buy a brick!
They’re all so similar, with very subtle differences it’s definitely hard to choose one - there will always be a compromise of some kind. The Autel units will do almost all car brands I’m ever likely to see straight out of the box - no extra firmware costs.
I bought the icarly app and obd Bluetooth tool. Its cheap compared to these others and works brilliantly.
That’s another popular choice yes 👍
Thanks for sharing,no scan tool can support every car.
You need to make sure the scan tool support your car before purchasing a diagnostic tool.
The biggest problem I had was PSA peug/citr they are buggers. Most code readers wont work. Ended up getting the delphi.
When video about the oil catcher??))
I would suggest ICOM reader for ISTA+ or ENET cable for ESYS. These are very powerful tools for you. Also, you can change car settings, code modules and update for better functionality.
That’s best advice for only BMW’s 👍
I bought this to use across different cars that I’ll buy & work on 😉
Does it reset transmission adaptations?
@@valentin7436 You can reset it by going through a sequence in the car. Google it and youtube has many videos. Also, I think ISTA+ can reset these as well.
Thanks for sharing! But let’s get down to business- get back to the Range Rover. 👍
Do you have a link for this?
Handy device :)
With as complex as BMWs are I invested in e-sys and E-net cable for F10. E-sys software was free and e-net cable was USD$8 shipped. You do need a laptop but those are super cheap these days.
Yes, I’ve actually bought those bits too to use while I have this car. I still wanted a handy standalone tool to use across different cars though, which is where this one comes in 👍
Hi matey can I ask will the reader work on the bmw x5 and where did you get it from
Thx phill
Hi Phil, yes it will work with your X5 and I got the best price for it from an established eBay seller 👍
Or you can buy one of these for around £40 which uses the delphi software which will give you access to pretty much everything on any car/truck from programming injectors keys and registering new batts
have used it few times on my x5

Random question but how easy do you think it would be for a diy amateur to remove the front bumper of an e61? It’s got some damage that I think I can fix but I need to get it off to do it.
It’s usually not too difficult to remove a bumper - a combination of small screws & plastic clips. Just don’t force anything too hard in case you break a bit of it. There’s bound to be some UA-cam videos showing how to do it before you start 👍
Nut Job thanks. I’ve found a few but they aren’t great. I’ll get the replacement ordered so if cock it up I’ve got the new one ready for somebody more competent to fix 😂
Will it do dpf regen and mileage check like carly does
No mate
Try to read about app Carly or Bimmercode.I am using Carly and it works great plus you can code your bmw.You can read and delete diagnose faults as well. When I bought new car in 2015 I checked faults as well and till now I am getting the same sunroof fault hahaha.I don`t have sunroof in my car hahahaa.
Hi , have the same car but 2014 and keep getting a check chassis warning ⚠️ 🤦🏻♂️
Any chance of a link to where you got yours ?
Heard a lot of nightmare stories of bmw changing a heap of parts when it was just a wheel sensor or battery 🔋
Bmw is charging me £160 for a diagnostic , but just don’t trust them after what I’ve read .
Maybe this is the way forward ?
Any help would be invaluable
Well, there’s plenty of tools to choose from... I went for the Autel MD802 Elite because I needed to keep my budget low, but the newer MD808 is actually a better tool (but more like £250+ I think). There’s a lot of people also using a Bluetooth OBDII connector + carly app - I’ve never used this but hear it’s pretty good 👍
Thanks Bud will check it out 👍
Really enjoyed your videos, 3 years ago I really wanted be 530d but back then I heard issues with timing chains, electronic glitches etc. Really like the way the vehicle drove, but could not justify the reliable. I admire your persistence. Might not be as refined as your German brands but I'll stick with the Japanese a lot less time under the bonnet. 😊
Michelo D.I.Y. Yes if you change the oil on 25.000 -30.000 km the timming chain after 200.000 will cut off. I have the e92 with n47 engine . First owner 10 years 290.000 km on the clock still going strong! Never changet the timming chain . Oil changed 8.000 /10.000 km ... no rattling noises nothing .. either not the clutch ever changed but i thiink now its the time to chnge the clutch. People who buy a car and they dont have money to pay for the needs a car , they will automaticaly say its a garbage...
I am driving F11 530d 3 years now.If you are going to change oil and filters very often your car will work perfect.I am buying BMW 5 series for a last 19years and I never had any problems. When I buy new car I am changing oil and oil filter after first 1000km and 3k km and 5k km ,8k km and 10k km.After that I am changing oil and filters always after 10k km.From 2010 till 2015 I drove around Europe almost 400k km .two cars E60 520d and 530d.530d towing caravan.I decided to replace timing chain after 300k km and it was in perfect condition.
@@inspired_by_bimmer267 in 1991 my family had a new 525i BMW, to me the build quality seemed superior. Perhaps they were a bit simpler with less plastic components, definitely didn't require the same attention as the modern counterpart. I really like the 530d tourer as I have a family and think it's practical and nice to drive. But overall compared to other manufacturers I think they don't score so well with reliability
@@michelod.i.y.5202 so if no BMW,what do you prefer to buy.Japanese car?But which one
@@inspired_by_bimmer267 I did recently contemplate a Mazda 6 and Toyota Avensis estate, I've ended up buying a Honda crv, only had it 2 weeks happy so far but early days. I prefer the driving dynamic of the BMW.
I drive a Lexus i dont know where the OBD port is
andy brant What are you doing here then xD
Ronaldi im spreading joy
To be fair if your Lexus had been used as a police car you’d know where it was !
c11yan i just woukdnt buy an ex police car its had hammerings since day 1
andy brant So in effect you are spreading the joy of not buying an ex police car?
It work on Mercs? I notice everyone buys these iCarsoft units for Mercs...
Yes it’ll work on Mercs 👍
I don’t like those icarsoft things because they’ll only work with one brand...
Foxwell is good for mercs too
This car is a nightmare. Get rid of it, not worth it giving endless problems. That is why I have stuck with an 08 port injected petrol BMW 530i. No carbon problem, no timing chain problems, just the typical rubber gaskets leaking issues. I admire your drive to do it, you will learn alot from it but you will realise in the end its just not worth spending time on these cars with massive design issues.
