- In this video I show you what is involved in replacing a headlight control module or TMS module on your F10 BMW. This was done on a pre lci 535i.
You might need to replace this for a number of reasons, they could range from a message on your dash indicating an adaptive headlight error, daytime running light error, turn signal error etc.
I was successful in replacing it with an aftermarket module and was able to code it to the car error free. If you would like to get the same module that worked for me you could do so here (affiliate):

I show you you how to initialize the module in ISTA+ and show you what would be involved if you had to code the module first using ESYS.
The video also includes a brief summary of how to install the module and shows me fixing up the headlights on this car including reinstalling the headlight lens.

I bought a Umnitza Retrofit Led Headlight for bmw f10 2011-2013 models which is a plug and play and when i installed the driver side headlight everything was working but the passenger side headlight only the DRL angel eyes and signal lights wasn’t working. I brought to a dude that said it could be the headlight or the Module the problem but he managed to make the signal lights working but he turned off the DRL both sides so it doesn’t look weird when the lights are on. Now i just ordered the same TSW module as you mentioned on Amazon and everything looks like is working but the angel eyes (DRL) are still not working. Im not able to have find the dude who coded my car before to turned off the DRL. What do you recommend me to do to have my DRL working? I have no idea how he turned it off and it looks like i have to turned it on manually with some programs ? I tried bimmercode and Autel Maxysys and not able to have the DRL activated. Pls get back to me if you can help. Thank you

Now I want the new index 12 ones from the dealership. But I can get only 1 per client. They have 1500 in backorder. 😞 So I have to wait for a while.)

Great video Mousa, I changed that same module on my F10 535XI and it fixed the "adaptive headlight malfunction" immediately. It is annoying that I had to remove the bumper to do this easy job.

I removed the wheel and fender liner to install the module. It was difficult to remove the inner torx, but with some patience and a flex-socket, I finally removed it.
Mousa, thank you for the tip. My f10 is pre LCI and using the cheap tms module from Amazon was a huge cost savings. I did have to initialize the new module and enable the adaptive function, but it all works great!

@@ebayseller37922 Did you try to turn the wheel in and get access to the finder liners openings? I think the finder liner has (gates) that when you unclip them you get access to the headlight from the rear.

Hey man recently had my 21 m340i repaired by a collision shop. Passenger side fender was hit and replaced with new. Any idea on hood alignment points and fender align points. Tried adjusting lower hood area and success however as you follow body lines up the fender is higher than hood.

Sorry to be out of the video topic but I've got question about E9x steering Wheel/ direction feeling
I've seen this problem on many BMW of these generation, the streering wheel is not really accurate, you spent most of your time correcting the car direction, this is really annoying.
There's any mechanical issues, all arms, suspensions, geometric adjustment done and everything is brand new but the car is like searching its way all the time
Different version of E9x had this issu, with different wheel size and different tires.
This makes feeling insucure on the road especially on the highway at higher speed .
Wanted to know if you have any further information about this behavior?
Even some old E39/E38 had this weird problem..

Hello, I have problems with the adaptive lighting system on a 2011 535i, I changed the module and also the xenon bulb and it continues without turning on the high and low beams, this only happens on left head light
Is it possible to replace the LED left turn indicator (which is part of the headlight assembly) in 528xi 2012? It is not a single bulb from what I understand. I thought it was an LED assembly.

Hi. If the module is not original, does it work properly? Because one module is not original and in the evening the beam of that lamp runs in different directions.
Which version of ista are you using, I’ve tried this on two different versions ista and it just skips encoding or what not, it looks like it did but it skips a few steps like shown in yours, so I was just wondering which version are you using
Wonder if someone can help, I have a new module for the f10 and installed and also was successful to teach and and initialise the module. Everything worked at this point. Until I rescan for codes and it comes up with module not coded to this car and halos stop working and get the error for side light and adaptive headlight failure, Any help would be appreciated

For me the aftermarket TMS module did throw in adaptive headlights error but error goes away after a while, but what I noticed angel is with this aftermarket TMS is noticeably dimmer that my OEM. Almost hard to see it in day time. Do you think I need coding to correct that issue or did I got a defective TMS module?
Question: My (2nd) replacement module in the same side does not indicate it needs initialization, how can I initialize it?
If I swap the driver (2nd aftermarket module) with passenger (OEM module) will they both show up as different and need initialization?
I purchased a replacement module, sealed the light module, installed and initialized. Everything was working great. My seal work was not good and apparently the replacement module not as robust as OEM. It failed causing my halo lights to not work. So I purchased again, installed and thoroughly sealed. Halos work, but adaptive headlight failure appears. I attempt to initialize with ISTA, but it does not appear as a problem. Most likely the module has the same programming (SN, etc.) as the original replacement and ISTA thinks everything is okay.

I bought the cable on Amazon because I did. It seemed qie was of better quality and the cost cue of $ 25 if you want the links leave me a message here to share them

Best bet is to check forums like bimmer scene etc.
Is ISTA+ a BMW OEM diagnostic tool?
If you don't have protool, you should get it. I don't know about the newer f series stuff but I can do all coding on the e gen cars and early f gens in the palm of my hand. VO code, add and remove features, change settings, vin pushing, etc. All easy to use (at least for me)
Is protool easier to install then the other coding options? i need to code in a new head unit on my e60, and id love to be able to do it myself.

I replaced my modules on my e88 135i after fixing all the wiring and still I can't make it work , I tired with protools but didn't work not sure what exactly it's going on . I will need to get a laptop and learn more about insta to figure this out

My bluetooth seems to be stuck in "limbo". My phone connects to my car, but because my car's bluetooth is stuck in limbo. It doesn't play anything. I'm actually quite confused because I tried taking the main battery off for hours and it just doesn't reset. I looked at the fuses and what not, checked the bluetooth in the back trunk. I just can't restart the iDrive.
I was wondering if you have any ideas on how to reset the iDrive? My iDrive has the latest firmware update, but the bluetooth is just stuck in limbo. Any help would be great. If not, I was wondering if we can meet up and see if you can try to debug and fix the issues. I have a 2014 435iX.

PLEASE HELP! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 I’m struggling now for about 3 months trying to get my headlight fixed. I got a car wash and condensation got into my passenger side headlight it stayed like that for about two weeks and then my angel eyes went out and I’m having the daytime running light malfunction we took it apart and saw that the control module had some corrosion as well as the inside port where the control module plugs in had a little bit of corrosion. I purchased a brand new adaptive headlight for that side put all of my parts in with a new control module and still nothing happens not even my regular headlights work now with the new headlight. Do you have any suggestions?

This is by design to prevent blinding oncoming drivers. Lights should angle when traveling at higher speeds, but not when stationary (ie. when waiting at a left turn signal light)
@@alw757 if that's the case I am glad lmao. So when turning right it does indeed angle the light right but not when turning left
Yeah I think that might be normal operation.
Check the left front wheel trailing control arm for the level sensor make sure its not twisted or the bracket is broken or not clamped all the way

I tried this and it said it’s from another vehicle, and it’s not genuine😢
