STCG.... this has been your best video in a while. Had all the elements that made me like the channel to start with. Made me wanna make this this weekend.
Yes please start making stuff like you made a few years ago. Enough with all the fast food copy cat stuff. And stop editing stuff out. I loved all rants you use to have in the videos. It’s what set you apart.
The best thing about this channel is the confidence it's given me. I've made around a dozen of these recipes over the summer and my skills and confidence has grown a lot. AAAANNNND... my family has loved all of these. Thanks Team Sam.
Sam you always bring a smile to my face. I love watching your videos especially now. I just lost one of my doggy suddenly and I've been really sad but I can sit down at the end of the day or the beginning of a day off and watch your video and get some a smile on my face. Thank you!❤
Sams the best. Keep up the great content! Your videos are entertaining and humor to keep us smiling. Simple recipes done right, make me hungry. Your back yard setup is killer. No hate here brother, much love from Fresno ca!
So many 5 star chefs in the comments, so many nutritionists, so many people from the FDA, so many film directors…. (And my favorite) “Sam I love the recipe, but I only changed everything”…. Just make the food people.
Oh man I make a mean beer can chicken. I like to shove cilantro, onion, lemon and jalapeño inside the beer can for extra flavor. My main rub for seasoning is a nice lemon pepper.
There's a pre-made jack and coke available for purchase in a 4pk but jack daniels...had it this weekend for the 1st time, not bad but needs more whiskey
Sam, I have a couple of wire frames that hold the 'beer can' and also a soup can for any liquid I want to use. These wire frames make the entire chicken SOooo much more stable and when I use an open top soup can it really makes filling it so much easier. Thanks for a great video guys!
Hello Sam, I watch pretty much every post you do. You have asked "what to make next" my mother used to make French Crapes from scrape when i was a kid..she past at 54 and i wasn't able to find her recipe. The filling changed.. applesauce was her go to, but sometimes we got blueberries. I so love your Evo!! Tring to convince my wife i need one! Thanks, Bob Going St, Louis, MO.
Ive done soda and beer for this. I think the best one is to put water and a bouillon cube along with your favorite seasonings. I also stop using cans and got a poultry roaster.
I love your shows. They are fantastic. From content to production...first class. I tried this chicken and it turned out awesome. However, I know that whether you have Jack and Coke, beer or water up the chicken's cavity, the flavors remain the same. Thanks for sharing and keep on inspiring! You neighbour from the north, Bradford Canada
“Don’t drink Jack & coke as much any more, but when I do…” I thought we were going to be the the full “I don’t often drink beer, but when I do” bit! That needs to come back!
That chicken looks beautiful! I wish I saw this video earlier. I am literally smoking chicken right now but just thighs and legs. I used meat church rub and spicy dan-o's and have been butter basting it. I'm sure it will be delicious but I should have made your coke and jack.
I’ve experimented with different 12 oz cans and I’ve never noticed a difference in taste, tbh. I think the beauty of beer can chicken is that you can use any 12 oz can you have lying around and you’re practically guaranteed an insanely juicy chicken. Also where are you finding Sriracha because I can’t find it anywhere 😭
There have been a few articles I've read where people do experiments making just a vertical chicken and a few different methods of beer can chicken and found no difference in taste because the liquid in the can doesn't get hot enough to steam or evaporate at all so it doesn't impart any flavor into the meat. Now maybe a small amount of soda and jack Daniels could since alcohol has a lower boiling point than beer or soda. But even still it's probably an un noticeable difference. That being said I bought a vertical chicken roasting stand and use it all the time because they are delicious.
At a minimum, clean the Coke can with soap and water to remove contaminants. Also, I stopped doing this with beer cans because the inks on the label might contaminate the bird. Ther are inexpensive chicken stands that prop the bird up without ink transfer.
Hey Sam, word of advice, never use the actual can to cook the liquids in, they have inks that will give off fumes when burning and plastic linings to protect the flavor of the beer or soda. They sell cast irone units that you pour the liquids into, and sit the poultry on top. No toxic fumes if you use one of those. I have used one for years, and they work great.
What about making German Saurbraten in some variation with german potato salad or fried noodles. Also, Would you ever try making Mulagatawni soup? I'm sure I messed up the spelling but I'm sure you got it. I've been searching for a great recipe but too many variations. Years ago a restaurant near my home served it and it was so hearty and uniquely spiced, I always ordered it with warm crisp bread on the side. When they closed I was devastated not to know how to recreate it. Would love to see your take on it! Love your show, my mouth waters with every demonstration you do. I love spices and rich flavor. You sir are a creative master. I laugh, relax and learn something wonderful in every program. Of all the cooking shows out there, yours is my favorite!! By the way, where does the name Not Not Tacos come from? I'm sure there's a story there! Keep up the good work and the naughty banter! So much fun! Thank you! Lee in Central Square, NY
Gonna try this soon! Chicken (wings) and cook is a modern classic for Hong Kong Cuisine :) this seems like such a nice twist (to both chicken wings + coke and Beer can chicken
Just put water in the can and you'll get the same result. Tried it and tested it. All of what makes the drink just concentrates in what remains in the can. Get your rub right and you'll get the same results every time regardless of what's in the can.
Next time you coke can use a can opener on the coke can like you would on a regular can and take the top off and it makes it easier to fill the coke can with liquid and seasoning.
Probably get down voted for this, but I never understood the use of a coke/beer can for smoking/grilling. For a stand sure, but infusion, at best, will be where...the neck? Also the liquid in the can woud take forever for the cavity to cook as the can would be an insulator. I would just pay a few bucks for a beer can stand and don't use a can at all. It would be more stable and the inside will cook evenly. Drink the Jack and Coke instead while cooking. Glaze looks great. Thanks for the videos.
I bought a stand because I actual can would always get screwed up somehow. I will put coke in it or something, but as you said it honestly doesn't do much. It's more for standing it up. The sauce and spices are the key.
I've done coke can chickens for years, is there any concern about the paint on the can transmitting anything over to the chicken? Like I said I've done it for years but someone said this to me..👍🏼👍🏼
Up here! In 🇨🇦 😊 we use our favourite beer! I’ll have to try J and C. 😂😂 the can eruption 😂 I love to how you keep it real with the bent can going in and the fall over chicken and can in the end… happens every time 😂
I have that stainless steel tube welded to a 6 inch square stainless steel plate for doing this exact same thing. Fill the tube with beer, coke , butter, seasonings, whatever, and it works great. Another great use for a can of coke or even diet coke, is to set a 3-4 pound pork butt in a crock pot, add a few cloves of garlic, all your normal seasonings, then pour the can of coke over the top, lid it, let it cook on low for 12 hours, then pull it out, tear it apart with 2 forks, fry it in small batches until crispy, and you have the best Carnitas ever.
Sam, cool to hear you and Matt Pittman talk about each other. I asked you to check him out a long time ago. You guys should come do a show with him in Waxahachie. Right in view of the historic Waxahachie TX court house, Maxx could have a field day filming.
@Tele-Official_samthecookingguy Oh, My I have never had a good surprise before, I hope it's a good one! Are you single? Do you represent a Nigerian prince, because if you do, my Uncle daddy from Lagos says you might not be what you say you are! And he will set his Lion's on you if you are telling me not so truths!

Looking good as always, Don't be afraid to put that sauce pan inside the smoker. Awesome way to add flavor to the sauce. Love you guys
Sams the best. Keep up the great content! Your videos are entertaining and humor to keep us smiling. Simple recipes done right, make me hungry. Your back yard setup is killer. No hate here brother, much love from Fresno ca!
I don’t drink but I think I would try this one. Looks awesome, thanks for sharing your recipes, i
Have tried more of your recipes lately.
So many 5 star chefs in the comments, so many nutritionists, so many people from the FDA, so many film directors…. (And my favorite) “Sam I love the recipe, but I only changed everything”…. Just make the food people.
We’ve had beer butt chicken for years in Australia, they actually sell something to support it all so it doesn’t fall over so easily ❤
The love between Sam and Matt makes my heart happy.
Ok bot
Looks fantasic, something new to try on the smoker. Keep the inspiration coming.
Sam with the cat like reflexes @ 6:38! This recipe looks so good!!
1:12 "The recipe's below..." Um, no it isn't. Looks great though, look forward to trying it!
Who cares
I care. And I agree needs more whiskey in those pre made cans. Lot more
@frankarmitage776 he must have been bored. Any ways...it was bad, wondering if it would work the same as separate for this occasion
Yum Aluminum particles in the food 🤤
Sam, I have a couple of wire frames that hold the 'beer can' and also a soup can for any liquid I want to use.
These wire frames make the entire chicken SOooo much more stable and when I use an open top soup can it really makes filling it so much easier. Thanks for a great video guys!
I have that wire frame too! It is awesome for stabilizing the chicken.
I use the same sprayer for my brisket and ribs! Great recipe man! I’ll have to try this on game day
Mind telling us the name of the sprayer?
Yum! Looks amazing!
I use the shorter can, and use the legs to create a balanced stance. Done this using 7-up with spices, and you HAVE to try it using ORANGE SODA!
I can vouch for the orange soda as well!
That sauce both looks and sounds amazing!! Can't wait to try it
Thank god it is fall to winter. Best recipes that you make. Screw summer
Transitions in this video are amazing
Whoa! Sam had a full bottle of Japanese mayo! It seems like it's usually empty. 😂
Love that everyone still needs to use “a binder” yeah it’s called the moisture from the meat, let it absorb and it’s all good

sam, you guys are the best ! you make great things simplified !
That chicken took it up the kazoo like a champ...😊
Sam you are killing it. The glazing takes it to the next level! Awesome!!!
I think I’ll try it with Jameson and Dr. Pepper.
@Tele-Official_samthecookingguy How do I share my details with you?
My Fridays are called Whiskey Friday. I treat myself to a 5th of Jack once a week. May have to save some for a Saturday cook!
As always, looks awesome Sammy!
Fumes from heated inks, dyes and plastic liners. Yum.
Ive done soda and beer for this. I think the best one is to put water and a bouillon cube along with your favorite seasonings. I also stop using cans and got a poultry roaster.
Haven't seen this recipe recreated since DJ BBQ first introduced it back when he was making cooking video.. good memories..
I like to make Jack 'n' Coke Thanksgiving turkey with a plastic 2 liter of Coke. 🤣
Love that you and Meat Church know each other! He mentioned you in last weeks video
Does the paint or aluminum from the can not melt into the meat???
No
Jack & Coke (mixed just as you would to drink it) also makes a great marinade for tougher cuts of beef, before going on the grill.
I love your shows. They are fantastic. From content to production...first class. I tried this chicken and it turned out awesome. “Don’t drink Jack & coke as much any more, but when I do…” I thought we were going to be the the full “I don’t often drink beer, but when I do” bit! That needs to come back!
Would like to know where we can get the sprayer. That’s cool.
I've done chicken with Sprite or gingerale, right in the oven many times.
Sam you're the man..
That was my first video I saw of you a long time ago was your beer can chicken and I was hooked!
Here in Japan we had, not sure still available, a can of Jack and Coke mix. It was great.
Sam, ever made a Lowcountry Seafood Boil? Would love to see your spin on a Carolina favorite!
That chicken looks beautiful! I wish I saw this video earlier. I am literally smoking chicken right now but just thighs and legs. I used meat church rub and spicy dan-o's and have been butter basting it. I'm sure it will be delicious but I should have made your coke and jack.
I pull the skin back and fill with butter and seasoning. And I put butter in can with jack and coke 😅😅also cook turkey this way😊
Thanks for another great video! Can you do a bison burger video sometime? I’d love to see what you do with it.
Not in the stores I looked, went to an Asian store and bingo

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Please tell me more about that spray bottle! Thank you.
Makers and Coke is 1000 times better :)
Hey Sam, word of advice, never use the actual can to cook the liquids in, they have inks that will give off fumes when burning and plastic linings to protect the flavor of the beer or soda.

You had me at "Jack and Coke"!
So how much time and what degree would you do this in the oven? Because unfortunately I don't have a smoker.
Sickest episode by far. Literally.
could you please let us know the brand of the continuous spray/mister you used (that was given to you)?
Alcohol dehydrates muscle structure. Coke eats a hole in concrete! This is why as a 5 Star Chef our Degree is Microbiology.
Not true
The fact that someone highlighted your reply of saying not true is hilarious. Yes, it is fact!@@daveklein2826
That chicken sure had some junk in da trunk lol!!
That coke can cools the interior real good!

whats the f / degrees in smoker when doing this ? thanks for help
He said it was running at 350° 😎
The toxic paint fumes give it texture. Yummmo
Cool spray bottle where can I buy one?
Hey Sam. Love ALL you recipes. I'm curious though as to what kind of soy paste you use? Please LMK. Thank you.
Yeah salt and coke foam.
We used to do it all the time as kids.
I don’t drink jack to much but jack and coke is dam good going to have to try this recipe looks delicious 😋 ❤❤❤❤❤!!!!
Can you do this in an oven? only have a small grill.
Gonna try this soon!
Chicken (wings) and cook is a modern classic for Hong Kong Cuisine :) this seems like such a nice twist (to both chicken wings + coke and Beer can chicken
Thanks Sam Kickin Chicken. love it.
The seasoning did the "Diet Coke and Mentos" thing....
Just put water in the can and you'll get the same result. Tried it and tested it. All of what makes the drink just concentrates in what remains in the can. Get your rub right and you'll get the same results every time regardless of what's in the can.
What temperature was your grill
I don't have a smoker. Can I do this in my oven? If yes, what temp and how long?
Yes. He did 350° for about an hour and a half. Same for your oven.
What is the brand of mayo you use?
It is Kewpie Japanese mayo. Good stuff!
Next time you coke can use a can opener on the coke can like you would on a regular can and take the top off and it makes it easier to fill the coke can with liquid and seasoning.
Not necessary
As a fellow Canadian, you should know that real Maple Syrup doesn't come from a squeeze bottle SAM!
It might if you put it in a squeeze bottle for convenience.
Real Maple Syrup comes from Vermont and nowhere else. Maybe Quebec tho (which should be it’s own country).
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Love the shoutout to Matt from Meat Church!!
Love you gave Matt a shoutout. That recipe inspired me too, but instead of Dr. Pepper I throw in Crown Peach and some hot honey. Effing delish

I got a tip. When you’re handling hot food like a whole chicken, put some clean cotton work gloves on under the silicone gloves as an insulator.
Hey Sam and Max, can we get like a Pot Roast with rice and gravy??
Up here! In 🇨🇦 😊 we use our favourite beer! I’ll have to try J and C. 😂😂 the can eruption 😂 I love to how you keep it real with the bent can going in and the fall over chicken and can in the end… happens every time 😂
Is there a written recipe somewhere?

The toxic gas from heated aluminum and paint yum
And the inner plastic lining.
what a buzz kill. You must be fun at parties
Would use this juice and rub onto ribs as well... of course.
Sprite and tequila would make a good one with a lemon pepper garlic herb rub
Sam, what watch is that? It's gorgeous and I'd love to buy one!
You can't afford the strap😂😂😂😂😂😂
I bet a bourbon would work nicely too.
I need that pot
I wonder how different this is to just a Coke can chicken...guess I'll have to try it and find out!
I find garlic paste to be WAY stronger than fresh minced cloves. You treat them the same, idk about that
Looks amazing
I don’t always hit the like button ,(but when I do I enjoy it )….lol
making it on football Sunday, go lions!! Sam your the best!!
Where can I find those gloves? They’re not on your links.
