So, I am a C1 Spirit owner and I am seeing some really downer comments on it here. Now to pre-face: I do fly solo a lot as my friend group that plays work odd hours. I have also bought with in-game currency the Drake Corsair, and Cutlass Black, and flown the Connies on rental. So, the only ship I haven't touched is the Zeus in this discussion. What are my thoughts? I'd honestly rather fly the C1. I've never had a really bad day flying one and when things gone belly up on something, this is the ship that saves that session and keeps me playing for the day. This is the ship that salvaged a friend's Reclaimer going boom (don't stick 16SCU crates in the cargo hold, just stick to 2 SCU) and still allowing us to make money off the crates as they brought their M2 and I used the C1's tractor beam to move the crates in front of the cargo doors. Yeah, the Connie & Corsair have more firepower and are more robust. Yeah, the Zeus will have more cargo. But the C1 is what I would say is for Star Citizen what the Cobra Mk 3 is to Elite: Dangerous. You're first actual spaceship and a good all-rounder.
Some people are just inherently negative, which is why I don't bother responding to those people. I can understand skepticism or people that disagree. What I can't stand is blatant, dumb negativity. With that said, agree. It compares well against the Freelancer and Cutlass between price and features.
It's an awesome ship no doubts about it, but I feel like the Cutlass Black is still a better deal. You have better multirole functions, more open space with different ways to enter and exit the ship, more firepower and it's less expensive too. The C1's look is defenitly more pleasent to the eye for most people and it has more of a finished product feel to it than the Drake and regardless, I don't think one could go wrong with either of these two ships. It's mostly a matter of preferences and what you value most, looks and finish, or firepower and multirole capabilities.
The Zeus does seem to have a lot less firepower on the pilot's side with only the 2 size 4s at anytime. Though those are pretty meaty, I'm betting it's going to be the far better duo ship since your friend can actually contribute as a gunner as needed and otherwise help speed up or collaborate on any of the other jobs the ships can do. The C1 ran duo is just a bit too passenger princess for most people XD
Honestly, this ship has become my solo daily. It's great when you are playing alone. And such a beauty. When gaming with my friend we tend to either fly separate fighters, or get into something bigger with turrets. Also since flying the Ares Ion I've definitely become a diehard Crusader fan.
This is definitely what I've been doing lately too. I definitely look forward to using the Zeus when it comes out. But I'd also like to see a ship between the size of a c1 and C2 as well
You know it may be a fairly weak reason, but I have found that I don't like the computer voice for the RSI ships, so I don't like flying them anymore. The Zeus Mk2 looks like it is going to be awesome though, but I think due to the silly reason of not liking the computer, I'll be sticking with the C1 Spirit. lol@@Hav0k

As of right now it's not available in game. But CIG intends to make it and others purchasable in game in patch 3.23. And yeah the RSI computer is a bit annoying lol
The loaner C1 I received while my Zeus JPEG is in production got so much use, and I fell in love with it so much, I bought one for my hanger. Risky, but I have been using it for smuggling lately, and it is just really impressive.
I agree, I just bought this ship. It's such an amazing vessel. It's a jack of all trades and master of none, but it is very beautiful looking and permanently apart of my fleet now
I use (4) Mantis GT-220s and (16) Arrow missiles, works great. XL-1 QT drive, FR-76 shield, JS-400, and Avalanche cooler. The fuel supply make the fast XL-1 drive an actual option so you can still cross the Stanton system without refueling. I'd have to spend a lot more money to actually get to another ship that feels like an actual upgrade. I'd like the MSR for an upgrade but not with losing so much firepower, so without data running and AI manned turrets, the MSR currently would only be a sideways move.
Sounds like it would be a good load out. If they increased ammo for Ballistic weapons or created some type of magazine system I probably would be more likely to choose Ballistic weapons. MSR is another one of my favorites. Great ship!
Dont forget the intended systems to come online etc, youll need a pilot, co pilot and engineer and any gunners for your turrets you have, for example the MSR will need 5 man crew for a minimum full crew. Only remote turrets can be bladed and personally i dont think well see ai crew but thats another topic.
Great video. I got 2 fighters in my hangar, looking for a daily driver and debating between Cutlass, C1, Connie, Corsair and Zeus (which is not even out yet). I do put a lot of importance on "fun" in flying, and bigger ships are trucks...not fun, so I'm looking for that sweet spot between cargo size, firepower, amenities and fun to fly. I'll take the C1 for a spin this week and see if worth compared to Cutty.
I definitely agree that the C1 can be used as a great solo ship/starter ship, for those who have the money to drop on it. SC has quite a few really good starter/solo ships, and if we were to break them down by price range, I would likely put the C1 at the top of its class, there. Good breakdown!

Thanks for the kind words! After swapping out for the loadout I recommend (FL-33's not NDB-30's) I have been handling VHRT with no issues. It's pretty slow to maneuver, but it does just fine.
This ship in particular needs the variants to be one ship with the modular nature of the new tali. The bomb bay/cargo bay, and remote/tractor beam turret should all be interchangeable, and I personally think that the addition of a harbinger style size 5 torpedo bay in place of the bombs would be an incredible addition.
Im enjoying my C1, its my main mode of Transportation for most non combat stuff in the game. However we do need a ground vehicle salvage option to rival the ROC. And I REALLY wish CIG would get the Tumbler Ranger into the PU as having a small motorcycle that could fit perfictly between the cargo grid would extend what the C1 could do by leaps and bounds!
If I can only have one, C1 is the ship I’d want to have for every post-wipe. It’ll always be more useful than an Avenger Titan for various NPC loops for just $40-$50 more. Putting the Zeus aside for now, the next step up with obvious increase in usefulness (Connie) will cost another $50-$100 depending on the CCU chain available at the time.

It actually won't need any modularity to store cyropods for bounties. It was confirmed I think in the Zeus Q&A that you can load them in any cargo space but they won't be stackable in that configuration, so it just won't be as space efficient as other dedicated ships. That said the room in the C1 should certainly be sufficient for what a solo or even duo player might be going around picking up.
I can see the Spirit being left behind by its competitors, especially once the Zeus launches. The only thing the Spirit has are looks beyond that its wingspan creates major issues. Yes, it may have more shields on paper but that cross-section more or less nullifies that on paper advantage. Tack on the well known issue of hangar landings and it presents a bleak future for an otherwise beautiful ship.
I bought the c1 as a concept upgrade for my cutlass black and I immediately regretted it It had that slight luxury feel crusader ships have that feel just a step behind Origin ships but I just missed the simplicity of the Cutlass Black and I had a massive amount of time playing all aspects of the game with that one ship model Eventually instead of downgrading I decided to upgrade to a Taurus in 3.22, lucky me missile lock stopped working on all ships for me and it’s still a problem in 3.23.1a so I’m missing out on one of the best parts of the Taurus 😂
It's unfortunate too when there's not just one ship that ticks all of the boxes tbh. The Ironclad was the first all around perfect ship ever made for its category outside of combat ships. The Taurus is a really good ship too though.
After more than 1.5 years of flying the cutty I recently changed to the C1. I still feel like cheating on my cutty. But I LOVE the C1. It is a great ship. Althoug it is harder to land. since it needs more space. This is especially unhandy on microtech with it's forrests.
Yeah the hangars are definitely a problem with some ships right now including the C1. On a positive note, CIG's working on a new landing UI. So that's a positive
I think the Zeus is in the wrong conversation. With its size and capability it should be compared to ships like to Connie. With talks from the economy team I would expect the Zeus to fall in that 10mil aUEC bracket filling the role of medium+ multi role ships. I believe the C1, Freelancer, and Cutlass Black will be more comparable in the 3-5 million range being more of an economy line for starting out in multi role gameplay.

i have it as a loaner and i gotta say its a nice ship feels almost like an upgrade to the cutlass/freelancer in some areas but the one thing im not too happy about is the one way entrance
I have a Zeus CL because I pledged the A1 in concept way back when. I guess I get the best of both; The spirit is an amazing chassis for it's speed and handling - but dropping bombs from it? Yes please! Zeus CL, basically the most cargo space in a medium size ship we've seen yet, and it's smaller than a C1. I'm sure that means compromises, namely to mobility and speed, but hey, I like big booty ships.
@@lunasakara7306 did you know the CL also has armor and extra thrusters under the wing tips to handle the heavy cargo ? The reason I like the CL so much is that in the master mode flight model, shields and weapons shut down, in order for the ship to quantum. If someone is attacking your ship, you will need something for protection. I think Armor is going to be a big deal in the future of SC PU.
The Constellation Taurus is my favorite ship for solo play. It is cheaper than the C1, more versatile than the C1, and excels in all other areas as well. For these reasons, the Constellation Taurus is the king of ships for solo and multiplayer gameplay. Even when considering the fact that it's due for a major update.
@Hav0k You're right, I'm getting my ships mixed up. C1 is $75 less. So, I agree with you it is a good buy for what it does. I still rock with the Taurus for the best all-around ship though. Outside of aesthetics and the bells and whistles, it dominates in every category. Who do I have to pay to give the Constellation series the gold standard?
I get it though, the constellation is pretty sweet! A gold standard pass is definitely needed. But I think with them trying to develop all of the RSI ships this year, it should mean they're working on updating it.
you should do laser scatterguns you dont want to stick around for a fight its not a warship, do lots of damage and get out. i love the c1 to and i have the c1 and a1
I love the look of the C1, but I upgraded it to a Zeus. The cargo bay is ok, but it has a massive bug in the front gimballed guns. Any hit to the front of the ship makes them stop working. As if they have been knocked off, but they are perfectly fine. I can't recommend even LRTs in this ship until it's fixed. It sucks losing half of your firepower and struggling to hit more nimble targets with the side guns. It's disappointing cause I love the Crusader lineup. My C2 and Ares are my workhorses. I really wanted the C1 to be my whatever I want day driver. Just needs some work.
Actually I noticed this tonight when doing VHRTs with it after I swapped from the NBD-30s to the FL-33s. But so far I've been handling VHRTs alright. With thay said, an Ares Inferno is definitely my next ship
@@Hav0k Yep. New Deal. I bought 10 of them and loaded them into a C2. Then a buddy had a Carrack where we put our imprint. We did bounties, the four of us. With a seemingly endless supply of furies. It was glorious fun!
on the paper the C1 has ruffly the same yaw / pitch as the lame schoolbus called corsair !! Is that ingame the same ? I LOVE and own all Crusader ships which are buyable INGAME, and i d love to upgrade my lti 325a to C1. Does it fly as clumsy as Corsair? I can outfight the corsair with my C2 anytime......owning and using corsair a lot myself too.Sick gunpower with full adXb but when a light fighter comes, you are toast. I love this ship but landing in a hangar is a pain there is little to no wiggle room.. off by a meter and you can scrape the paint off the leading edge of the wing..sigh..
As far as solo bounties, with the right loadout the C1 is doing pretty amazingly. MSR is a lot larger and might require crew to be as effective with. Otherwise, no. MSR has a lot larger components and is a larger ship than the C1
Still gotta say the cutty black takes the cake for best all rounder. This is like the cuttys PVE brother. If you truly do no care for combat, this is definitely the one. But those side doors have been very nice to have when doing space walks in the current EVA system. Just jump out the side and no weird spinning or tripping or just moving cargo around from different angles. I feel like i love alot of what the C1 Offers, but i feel it dosent offer quite enough to dethrone the cutty black. Maybe a second shield gen or at least one other way to exit the ship would be needed.

I’ll take the Cutty Black over this any day personally, but then I value its offensive capabilities far more than a little extra cargo capacity. I’d use the Freelancer MAX over the C1 for cargo personally. It’s not bad, just not exciting.

Base Building in SC! They talked about it at CitizenCon this year and also talked about a little surveyor tool vehicle that you can use to build a small outpost on planets. Definitely recommend checking out my base building video to get more details.
The radar is supposed to be a component like every other. But they haven't designed any yet due to not having a very dynamic radar and stealth system. Once this is a thing, I'm betting scanning gameplay will be more detailed and we'll have radar components that we can upgrade and/or tune. Maybe 1.0? Maybe beyond that
My problem with the C1 is almost as long and as wide as the MSR and yet is a very 'average' freighter. Yes, it's very pretty but not uniquely so and I'm not a fan of the layout basically being a tube with wings... wings that are far to large for no good reason. It's all personally preferences ofc, and it's nice to see them about inthe verse, but it's not for me.
@@Hav0k What I do like about the C1 is that lot of people appear to be very passionate about it, which great to see. Also, the detailing is beautifully done, inside and out, they really got Crusader design language down!!
I think the Drake Corsair is a bit more versatile, it packs a heavy punch offensively when flown solo and should you choose, also has stations for 3 more crew. I've also managed to fit both an Ursa and a ROC at the same time. I've flown it solo now a few months no problem. I also have a spirit c1 and as cool as it looks, I keep going back to the corsair.
The Zeus is a much more premium ship with larger components and all around better stats... so it's not really comparable to the Spirit. The Zeus however is a good step up from the C1 though, if that's what you're thinking. But they are not competitors, as I'm sure you can tell from the price diference.
I definitely agree with that statement. It's really not a comparison given the price and features the Zeus has over the C1. The C1 mostly compares to the Cutlass and Freelancer given price, size and components. With that said, the Zeus is totally worth upgrading to in my opinion.
@@Hav0k I'm at a crossroads where I'm considering 'downgrading' my 400i to the Zeus ES, because to me there appears to be a lot of overlap (despite the price gap) for solo/small crew Explorers. Comparable crew compliment, SCU capacity (400i is larger but struggles to carry ground vehicles), comparable pilot firepower and 1x Large Vs 4x Medium Shields is a very curious comparison. Zeus ES looks GREAT, but I do love my 400i.
I'm not gonna lie, I think that would be the best idea. The Zeus just seems like a much better idea than the 400i. But at least the 400i is better than the 600i lol

I want to invest in a good solo ship that can fit a variety of different playstyles/gameplay loops as well as occasionally be able to welcome 1 or 2 crew members. From your excellent video I'm interested in the C1 Spirit because of its versatility - but if you tell me the Zeus can also do all this but better because of it being more premium, I may go for the Zeus directly. Is the step-up really worth it ? Because I've looked at CCU chains and I can get the C1 Spirit for 117€ instead of 139€ - and the Zeus MkII ES for 145€ instead of 167€ - so not really that big of a difference :/
You're assuming that CIG doesn't make larger ships harder to operate alone once engineering gameplay and drone gameplay are in the game and salvage is adjusted to match the level of crew required. CIG does keep mentioning their plans are to make larger ships require crew. If they're telling us they're going to do it... they probably will.
I liked the video because I enjoy the content but as a former C1 owner I would argue that the cutlass or Zeus is a better option. The C1 handles terribly, IMO lacks the fire power needed and has weak shields.
I just don't like to get it out of the hangars or back in. Feels like you have 1 meter or more or less a washing machine in US units left and right. otherwise great ship!
While I'd agree it is better, it is a more expensive ship and has better components. The C1 is overall a good ship for people that want to do multiple gameplay loops without paying a ton of money. In-game or in real life.
Am i the only one who has a love/hate relationship with crusader? Like there is such a nice design language, but their ships feel SO EMPTY. Like its always the same too... just a ramp, cargo, and then long hallway to cockpit. There is never much variety or interesting rooms. Even the C2 and Mercury feel very very generic inside and don't really make you want to hangout there.
I can actually agree with that. They definitely have nice curves but they definitely feel empty. Maybe when we have the ability to customize our ships they'll feel more lived in
I own one and I bought a Cutty black in game for credits. Honestly, the C1 feels better and isn't as prone to losing bits as the Cutty is. Also, more cargo room and the C1 has its tractor beam placed in a far better position.
@@Hav0k attritions are the same dps but much higher fire rate, allowing you to keep shields down easier as youll hit more shots preventing recharge more often. (as of 3.23) NDB-30s are good for their quick bullet velocity, so it can make hitting further shots, and fast moving targets easier, and their fire rate is higher than both aforementioned guns
As the co-pilot seat only operates the tractor beam, this would be less affected as a Constellation would. All ships will be affected since we'll need to fix and maintain things, but not near as much as a ship with a maximum of 4 crew. But I agree all of it is speculation based on what CIG puts out. And often times that changes too. I just know they said they want larger ships to be very difficult and counterproductive to solo alone without any crew
Larger, more expensive, and doesn't even fit into the same category. I love the Corsair, but it's not even a fair comparison to make that statement, considering it's double the price.

I will speak as a trader and multipurpose guy. The trouth is, its just way too wide and long for what it can. The Taurus is much more reasenable in many ways. Even the very old Freelancer max is much better in so many things. Double the freight, more beds, more seats, more weapons, a second entrance (its anoying to go 1000 times all the way to the rear of a ship if u want to leave it), and if all thats not enough, its SMALLER than the C1. So the C1 makes for me absolutely no sense. Its nearly the size of a Star runner but has Cutless capabilities. I know the Star runner and C1 and landing on uneven surfices is another problem of them, which a Conni or Freelancer not have. Only thing why this ship is hyped as f*ck is because of its looks. Sorry..
I get what you mean. I want all the bugs to be fixed too. I think most of us are all tired of ship sales. But when you think of them being necessary at this point to see the game get finished, it might be one of those things we need to know and understand.
@Hav0k this game has been alpha for over 10 years, its not gonna get finished. Its not even beta yet. After around 15 years this game would have run its course and its all gonna be "a learning experience" for the new game they gonna make. No game gets finished after spending over 10 years just in alpha. The fact that its an alpha game gives them protection over our money. Their defense is gonna be, we'll they knew the game was alpha, they knew the risks. They shouldn't have spent money in a game that wasn't even close to being finished yet. I have spent 1000s of dollars in this game and it pains me to say this but at the moment it's a cash cow and that's all it is. They gonna take all they can and then say OK we learned some stuff let's make a new game so everyone has to re buy everything again so it's a double cash cow 😂

@@teddypicker8799 Combat? In the C1? That's funny... It can do HRTs just fine. Go to VHRTs and it becomes a real slog because it has poop capacitors and a paper shield. Meanwhile all the Connies can do ERTs despite being same size but more sluggish to fly. Like I am saying, for the roles they fill, the C1 is worse in every single way where it counts.
The C1 is not much better than the drake cutlass. It only has slightly more HP and slightly more thrust, but no additional defenses, or components compared to the cutlass. In fact the Crusader 1 series ships are all sub par for what we would expect from Crusader ships, when making other class by class comparisons. - The Freelancer, for example, while not as fast, boasts double the defensive capabilities and better offensive capabilities at the expense of maneuverability. Basically having a C1 is like having a Freelancer MAX with the same defensive capability and lack of redundancy as the cutlass. People boasting the C1 as the best new ship of its class are either dishonest or uneducated on the facts/specs. While it is fun to fly, and it still feels like a crusader ship, it is a tin can with very little defensive capability. - And before C1 simps start retaliating here for my input, consider the fact that Crusader is supposed to be a premier ship manufacture and it is the only ship line from Crusader that does not have redundant ship components/systems. While this would be expected from a budget company like Drake, it is not up to the standard for a Premium ship manufacture. Knowledge is power, ignorance is bliss.

Quick edit to the video, the NBD-30's are good, but I found out the FL-33's are WAY better.
On paper it looks like they aren't that different, what is actually better in the FL-33? (Panthers, right?)

Nothing with more than one seat is to be solo, youll need engineer and co pilot and any turreteers etc even for a C1

Honestly, this ship has become my solo daily. It's great when you are playing alone. And such a beauty. When gaming with my friend we tend to either fly separate fighters, or get into something bigger with turrets. Also since flying the Ares Ion I've definitely become a diehard Crusader fan.
This is definitely what I've been doing lately too. I definitely look forward to using the Zeus when it comes out. But I'd also like to see a ship between the size of a c1 and C2 as well

You know it may be a fairly weak reason, but I have found that I don't like the computer voice for the RSI ships, so I don't like flying them anymore. The Zeus Mk2 looks like it is going to be awesome though, but I think due to the silly reason of not liking the computer, I'll be sticking with the C1 Spirit. lol@@Hav0k

As of right now it's not available in game. But CIG intends to make it and others purchasable in game in patch 3.23.

The loaner C1 I received while my Zeus JPEG is in production got so much use, and I fell in love with it so much, I bought one for my hanger. Risky, but I have been using it for smuggling lately, and it is just really impressive.

I agree, I just bought this ship. It's such an amazing vessel. It's a jack of all trades and master of none, but it is very beautiful looking and permanently apart of my fleet now
I use (4) Mantis GT-220s and (16) Arrow missiles, works great. XL-1 QT drive, FR-76 shield, JS-400, and Avalanche cooler. The fuel supply make the fast XL-1 drive an actual option so you can still cross the Stanton system without refueling. I'd have to spend a lot more money to actually get to another ship that feels like an actual upgrade. I'd like the MSR for an upgrade but not with losing so much firepower, so without data running and AI manned turrets, the MSR currently would only be a sideways move.
Sounds like it would be a good load out. If they increased ammo for Ballistic weapons or created some type of magazine system I probably would be more likely to choose Ballistic weapons. MSR is another one of my favorites. Great ship!

Dont forget the intended systems to come online etc, youll need a pilot, co pilot and engineer and any gunners for your turrets you have, for example the MSR will need 5 man crew for a minimum full crew.
Only remote turrets can be bladed and personally i dont think well see ai crew but thats another topic.
I honestly can't wait for crew to actually mean something and be useful!
Great video. I got 2 fighters in my hangar, looking for a daily driver and debating between Cutlass, C1, Connie, Corsair and Zeus (which is not even out yet). I do put a lot of importance on "fun" in flying, and bigger ships are trucks...not fun, so I'm looking for that sweet spot between cargo size, firepower, amenities and fun to fly. I'll take the C1 for a spin this week and see if worth compared to Cutty.
I honestly can't wait to get my hands on the Zeus. I think it'll replace the C1 for me
I definitely agree that the C1 can be used as a great solo ship/starter ship, for those who have the money to drop on it. SC has quite a few really good starter/solo ships, and if we were to break them down by price range, I would likely put the C1 at the top of its class, there. Good breakdown!

Thanks for the kind words! After swapping out for the loadout I recommend (FL-33's not NDB-30's) I have been handling VHRT with no issues. It's pretty slow to maneuver, but it does just fine.

This ship in particular needs the variants to be one ship with the modular nature of the new tali. The bomb bay/cargo bay, and remote/tractor beam turret should all be interchangeable, and I personally think that the addition of a harbinger style size 5 torpedo bay in place of the bombs would be an incredible addition.
I agree. I think modularity would be nice for this ship. I foresee a lot of that changing over the years for sure.
Im enjoying my C1, its my main mode of Transportation for most non combat stuff in the game. However we do need a ground vehicle salvage option to rival the ROC. And I REALLY wish CIG would get the Tumbler Ranger into the PU as having a small motorcycle that could fit perfictly between the cargo grid would extend what the C1 could do by leaps and bounds!
Upgraded my mustang to the C1, having a great time!
If I can only have one, C1 is the ship I’d want to have for every post-wipe. It’ll always be more useful than an Avenger Titan for various NPC loops for just $40-$50 more. Putting the Zeus aside for now, the next step up with obvious increase in usefulness (Connie) will cost another $50-$100 depending on the CCU chain available at the time.

It actually won't need any modularity to store cyropods for bounties. It was confirmed I think in the Zeus Q&A that you can load them in any cargo space but they won't be stackable in that configuration, so it just won't be as space efficient as other dedicated ships. That said the room in the C1 should certainly be sufficient for what a solo or even duo player might be going around picking up.
It would be interesting to get an official response from CIG about this. I know they have made statements about modularity being more common one day.

And you can carry the ROC and cargo and do both if you want. You just have to store the ROC at the back of the plane close to the ramp.

I can see the Spirit being left behind by its competitors, especially once the Zeus launches. The only thing the Spirit has are looks beyond that its wingspan creates major issues. Yes, it may have more shields on paper but that cross-section more or less nullifies that on paper advantage. Tack on the well known issue of hangar landings and it presents a bleak future for an otherwise beautiful ship.
I bought the c1 as a concept upgrade for my cutlass black and I immediately regretted it
It had that slight luxury feel crusader ships have that feel just a step behind Origin ships but I just missed the simplicity of the Cutlass Black and I had a massive amount of time playing all aspects of the game with that one ship model
Eventually instead of downgrading I decided to upgrade to a Taurus in 3.22, lucky me missile lock stopped working on all ships for me and it’s still a problem in 3.23.1a so I’m missing out on one of the best parts of the Taurus 😂
It's unfortunate too when there's not just one ship that ticks all of the boxes tbh. The Ironclad was the first all around perfect ship ever made for its category outside of combat ships.
The Taurus is a really good ship too though.
After more than 1.5 years of flying the cutty I recently changed to the C1. I still feel like cheating on my cutty. But I LOVE the C1. It is a great ship. Althoug it is harder to land. since it needs more space. This is especially unhandy on microtech with it's forrests.
Yeah the hangars are definitely a problem with some ships right now including the C1. On a positive note, CIG's working on a new landing UI. So that's a positive
I think the Zeus is in the wrong conversation. With its size and capability it should be compared to ships like to Connie. With talks from the economy team I would expect the Zeus to fall in that 10mil aUEC bracket filling the role of medium+ multi role ships. I believe the C1, Freelancer, and Cutlass Black will be more comparable in the 3-5 million range being more of an economy line for starting out in multi role gameplay.
There are many great ships in Star Citizen and any number of them are great options all around, but could the C1 Spirit be one of the best solo ships in the game? Today we'll review what makes the C1 a pretty solid ship!

Zeus CL, basically the most cargo space in a medium size ship we've seen yet, and it's smaller than a C1. I'm sure that means compromises, namely to mobility and speed, but hey, I like big booty ships.

The reason I like the CL so much is that in the master mode flight model, shields and weapons shut down, in order for the ship to quantum.
If someone is attacking your ship, you will need something for protection. I think Armor is going to be a big deal in the future of SC PU.
The Constellation Taurus is my favorite ship for solo play. It is cheaper than the C1, more versatile than the C1, and excels in all other areas as well. For these reasons, the Constellation Taurus is the king of ships for solo and multiplayer gameplay. Even when considering the fact that it's due for a major update.

@Hav0k You're right, I'm getting my ships mixed up. C1 is $75 less. So, I agree with you it is a good buy for what it does. I still rock with the Taurus for the best all-around ship though. Outside of aesthetics and the bells and whistles, it dominates in every category.

I get it though, the constellation is pretty sweet! A gold standard pass is definitely needed. But I think with them trying to develop all of the RSI ships this year, it should mean they're working on updating it.

I love the look of the C1, but I upgraded it to a Zeus. The cargo bay is ok, but it has a massive bug in the front gimballed guns. Any hit to the front of the ship makes them stop working. As if they have been knocked off, but they are perfectly fine. I can't recommend even LRTs in this ship until it's fixed. It sucks losing half of your firepower and struggling to hit more nimble targets with the side guns. It's disappointing cause I love the Crusader lineup. My C2 and Ares are my workhorses. I really wanted the C1 to be my whatever I want day driver. Just needs some work.
Actually I noticed this tonight when doing VHRTs with it after I swapped from the NBD-30s to the FL-33s. But so far I've been handling VHRTs alright.
With thay said, an Ares Inferno is definitely my next ship

I LOVE and own all Crusader ships which are buyable INGAME, and i d love to upgrade my lti 325a to C1. Does it fly as clumsy as Corsair? As far as solo bounties, with the right loadout the C1 is doing pretty amazingly. MSR is a lot larger and might require crew to be as effective with. Otherwise, no. MSR has a lot larger components and is a larger ship than the C1

Still gotta say the cutty black takes the cake for best all rounder. This is like the cuttys PVE brother. If you truly do no care for combat, this is definitely the one. But those side doors have been very nice to have when doing space walks in the current EVA system. Just jump out the side and no weird spinning or tripping or just moving cargo around from different angles. I feel like i love alot of what the C1 Offers, but i feel it dosent offer quite enough to dethrone the cutty black. Maybe a second shield gen or at least one other way to exit the ship would be needed.

Base Building in SC! They talked about it at CitizenCon this year and also talked about a little surveyor tool vehicle that you can use to build a small outpost on planets. Definitely recommend checking out my base building video to get more details.
Where is the radar in this thing? Spec sheet says it has one, but I never see one when piloting this ship.
The radar is supposed to be a component like every other. But they haven't designed any yet due to not having a very dynamic radar and stealth system. Once this is a thing, I'm betting scanning gameplay will be more detailed and we'll have radar components that we can upgrade and/or tune.

My problem with the C1 is almost as long and as wide as the MSR and yet is a very 'average' freighter. Yes, it's very pretty but not uniquely so and I'm not a fan of the layout basically being a tube with wings... wings that are far to large for no good reason. It's all personally preferences ofc, and it's nice to see them about inthe verse, but it's not for me.
That's fair. There are definitely other ships I'd fly first, but it is still pretty versatile which is what makes it a decent ship.

They definitely did. What I'm more excited for is to see their rework and gold pass of the Retaliator. And to see what the Zeus offers in game.
I think the Drake Corsair is a bit more versatile, it packs a heavy punch offensively when flown solo and should you choose, also has stations for 3 more crew. I've also managed to fit both an Ursa and a ROC at the same time. I've flown it solo now a few months no problem. I also have a spirit c1 and as cool as it looks, I keep going back to the corsair.
How do you think it compares to the Zeus Mk II ? Really considering CCU chaining either the C1 Spirit or the Zeus Mk II
The Zeus is a much more premium ship with larger components and all around better stats... so it's not really comparable to the Spirit. The Zeus however is a good step up from the C1 though, if that's what you're thinking. But they are not competitors, as I'm sure you can tell from the price diference.
I definitely agree with that statement. It's really not a comparison given the price and features the Zeus has over the C1. The C1 mostly compares to the Cutlass and Freelancer given price, size and components. With that said, the Zeus is totally worth upgrading to in my opinion.
@@Hav0k I'm at a crossroads where I'm considering 'downgrading' my 400i to the Zeus ES, because to me there appears to be a lot of overlap (despite the price gap) for solo/small crew Explorers. Comparable crew compliment, SCU capacity (400i is larger but struggles to carry ground vehicles), comparable pilot firepower and 1x Large Vs 4x Medium Shields is a very curious comparison. Zeus ES looks GREAT, but I do love my 400i.
I'm not gonna lie, I think that would be the best idea. The Zeus just seems like a much better idea than the 400i. But at least the 400i is better than the 600i lol

I want to invest in a good solo ship that can fit a variety of different playstyles/gameplay loops as well as occasionally be able to welcome 1 or 2 crew members. From your excellent video I'm interested in the C1 Spirit because of its versatility - but if you tell me the Zeus can also do all this but better because of it being more premium, I may go for the Zeus directly.
Is the step-up really worth it ? Because I've looked at CCU chains and I can get the C1 Spirit for 117€ instead of 139€ - and the Zeus MkII ES for 145€ instead of 167€ - so not really that big of a difference :/

Yeah but that's only the case right now, and this salvage loop could be nerfed any time.
You're assuming that CIG doesn't make larger ships harder to operate alone once engineering gameplay and drone gameplay are in the game and salvage is adjusted to match the level of crew required. CIG does keep mentioning their plans are to make larger ships require crew. If they're telling us they're going to do it... they probably will.

I liked the video because I enjoy the content but as a former C1 owner I would argue that the cutlass or Zeus is a better option. The C1 handles terribly, IMO lacks the fire power needed and has weak shields.

Sadly this is a major problem with a lot of ships. The hangars we get are often too small for the ship we land in.
The corsair seems to be superior in every way, except of course appearance. And the tractor beam. Just an opinion.
While I'd agree it is better, it is a more expensive ship and has better components. The C1 is overall a good ship for people that want to do multiple gameplay loops without paying a ton of money. In-game or in real life.

Am i the only one who has a love/hate relationship with crusader? Like there is such a nice design language, but their ships feel SO EMPTY. Like its always the same too... just a ramp, cargo, and then long hallway to cockpit. There is never much variety or interesting rooms. Even the C2 and Mercury feel very very generic inside and don't really make you want to hangout there.
I can actually agree with that. They definitely have nice curves but they definitely feel empty. Maybe when we have the ability to customize our ships they'll feel more lived in

I own one and I bought a Cutty black in game for credits. Honestly, the C1 feels better and isn't as prone to losing bits as the Cutty is. Also, more cargo room and the C1 has its tractor beam placed in a far better position.

@@Hav0k attritions are the same dps but much higher fire rate, allowing you to keep shields down easier as youll hit more shots preventing recharge more often. (as of 3.23) NDB-30s are good for their quick bullet velocity, so it can make hitting further shots, and fast moving targets easier, and their fire rate is higher than both aforementioned guns
Corsair is the king
Corsair is also double the cost and crew. With only 8 more SCU of cargo space. So it doesn't fit into the same weightclass

"Once engineering is in" its not a true solo ship then. The spare seat tells me that. Wondering if it will still be useable with multicrew in.
As the co-pilot seat only operates the tractor beam, this would be less affected as a Constellation would. All ships will be affected since we'll need to fix and maintain things, but not near as much as a ship with a maximum of 4 crew. But I agree all of it is speculation based on what CIG puts out. And often times that changes too. I just know they said they want larger ships to be very difficult and counterproductive to solo alone without any crew

Larger, more expensive, and doesn't even fit into the same category. I love the Corsair, but it's not even a fair comparison to make that statement, considering it's double the price.
I will speak as a trader and multipurpose guy.
The trouth is, its just way too wide and long for what it can. The Taurus is much more reasenable in many ways. Even the very old Freelancer max is much better in so many things. Double the freight, more beds, more seats, more weapons, a second entrance (its anoying to go 1000 times all the way to the rear of a ship if u want to leave it), and if all thats not enough, its SMALLER than the C1. So the C1 makes for me absolutely no sense. Its nearly the size of a Star runner but has Cutless capabilities. I know the Star runner and C1 and landing on uneven surfices is another problem of them, which a Conni or Freelancer not have. Only thing why this ship is hyped as f*ck is because of its looks. Sorry..

I get what you mean. I want all the bugs to be fixed too. I think most of us are all tired of ship sales. But when you think of them being necessary at this point to see the game get finished, it might be one of those things we need to know and understand.
@Hav0k this game has been alpha for over 10 years, its not gonna get finished. Its not even beta yet. After around 15 years this game would have run its course and its all gonna be "a learning experience" for the new game they gonna make. No game gets finished after spending over 10 years just in alpha. The fact that its an alpha game gives them protection over our money. Their defense is gonna be, we'll they knew the game was alpha, they knew the risks. They shouldn't have spent money in a game that wasn't even close to being finished yet. I have spent 1000s of dollars in this game and it pains me to say this but at the moment it's a cash cow and that's all it is. They gonna take all they can and then say OK we learned some stuff let's make a new game so everyone has to re buy everything again so it's a double cash cow 😂

It can do HRTs just fine. Go to VHRTs and it becomes a real slog because it has poop capacitors and a paper shield.
Meanwhile all the Connies can do ERTs despite being same size but more sluggish to fly.
Like I am saying, for the roles they fill, the C1 is worse in every single way where it counts.
It's fine if you prefer the Connie but for me I hate slow ships that are bad in atmosphere
The C1 is not much better than the drake cutlass. It only has slightly more HP and slightly more thrust, but no additional defenses, or components compared to the cutlass. In fact the Crusader 1 series ships are all sub par for what we would expect from Crusader ships, when making other class by class comparisons.
- The Freelancer, for example, while not as fast, boasts double the defensive capabilities and better offensive capabilities at the expense of maneuverability. Basically having a C1 is like having a Freelancer MAX with the same defensive capability and lack of redundancy as the cutlass.
People boasting the C1 as the best new ship of its class are either dishonest or uneducated on the facts/specs. While it is fun to fly, and it still feels like a crusader ship, it is a tin can with very little defensive capability.
- And before C1 simps start retaliating here for my input, consider the fact that Crusader is supposed to be a premier ship manufacture and it is the only ship line from Crusader that does not have redundant ship components/systems. While this would be expected from a budget company like Drake, it is not up to the standard for a Premium ship manufacture.

It's okay to have a preference. And as the video doesn't answer the question of which is necessarily better and instead leaves that on the viewer to decide for themselves, it answers some questions they may have as to why it would be a good option for them. It's disingenuous to assume everyone is saying the C1 is the best.
