I think those are awesome use cases for both ships, and highlight their unique strengths! Plus, getting a reason to take out more of the fleet is always good in my opinion!
VERY important consideration that was missed : The Cutty has 3 ways in, but the C1 has only 1. Now that vaulting has been improved, one can reliably enter the Cutlass Black through one or both side doors, depending on terrain, if the ramp is inaccessible, due to misjudgement or shifting in the wind. The C1 has only the ramp entry. The amazing Cutty side doors have saved me from being locked out during numerous missions, and even work well as windows.
I use my Cutty to rescue/airlift stranded players.. either dropping them on their floating ships or in one case players were incapped by terrain (no idea how, I just work here). With the incapped players I had to tractor their bodies up to the ship from a hover position above. You can not do this when standing on a ship ramp. Something about the physics of the ramp makes it not part of the ship and prevents you from locking onto an object with a tractor (at least in atmo and gravity). I had to tractor those 3 people from the side door of the cutty black. I will always have a cutty but would consider getting a C1 as well.
I upgraded from aurora to cuti black within my first week of playing and after 2 years of playing I'm convinced it's the best choice I ever made. It's fun, easy to fly, super versatile, and with a two man crew you find yourself making quick work of bounties. Being able to jump across the system and back without stopping is a massive thumbs up. Great ship
Will alwaysbhave a spot in my heart for the cutty, she was my first upgrade and multi crew ship. But i do really enjoy my C1. I really couldn't choose wich one i like better.
I have both and once I started to daily the C1 I haven't taken the Cutty Black out. When the Cutty Black gets a Gold Pass it could improve things. The issues with the C1 are the hangars you spawn in or get allocated being very tight with clearances and the low landing gear making landing outside of landing pads a little tricky to get right 1st time.
Cutty VTOL is kinda unique among vtol capabilities as it rotates the primary engines, it creates a lot more G's and you can do some pretty crazy maneuvers if you exploit it to it's fullest potential.
@@Entar0 the C1 moves its side main thrusters to be added main upward thrusters, all while keeping the main forward thrusters, making it more nimble in V-tol during combats than the cutlass, so the acceleration in v-tol combat is greater in a C1 if in the right angle.
Fair comparison. The Cutty has been my daily driver for years and is an excellent all-rounder, allowing the player to experience many of SC's gameplay loops, in a surprisingly productive manner. I only recently got to fly a C1 (someone left one abandoned, lying inverted on a landing pad on a mining outpost, so I "borrowed" it for an hour or two), so my experience with it is limited. However, the one thing that became immediately apparent to me was how much easy it is to enter and exit the Cutty. This is a concern when one is engaged in activities such as ROC mining, when the player is frequently entering and exiting the ship. Time is money! Another clear advantage to the Cutty is its side doors which make loading loot (guns, corpses, weapons stripped from ships, etc.) easier, with no need to always run around to the rear of the ship to access the rear entrance. The final thing that stood out to me was the smaller footprint, allowing the Cutty to land in tighter confines, closer to outpost buildings, potentially closer to surface gem deposits when ROC mining, etc. With that being said, the C1 looks like a capable ship and, for many players, will be an excellent upgrade from the base starter ships.
Those are awesome points, and the Cutty definitely brings a much easier to use, straightforward platform! Which I like, as it seems to fit closely with the utilitarian Drake design!
I picked up the Cutlass Black for its multirole capability and its potential as a dropship. I want to love my Spirit but unfortunately I find the assignment of small hangars to be a significant problem along with the limitation of 2 x MFD's (there's a big hole in the dash begging for a 3rd).
I think the Cutty brings a ton of multi-role utility as well, and will likely remain a no-frills champion for this in the future as well. But I'm hoping they can sort the hangar size issue, as its a bit ridiculous haha
I'm really loving the Spirit line too. The Cutty is a classic but I'm not much of a Drake man myself. Since the E1 isn't flyable yet, I have a C1 and I flew it as my daily driver in 3.21. I love the rear doors. It's nice being able to land, close that last door, then lower the ramp, leave the ramp down while you're running your mission objectives, then head back to a secure ship.
If you look under your Keybinding Advanced settings, there are a lot of keybinds that are left empty. I always set the Open/Close Doors toggle (works with cargo bay ramps and lifts) to RCtrl+H and the door lock toggle. Since SC considers the right and left keys for Ctrl, Alt, and Shift, you get five modifiers instead of 3 (Right Shift is vector hold, it locks your pitch/yaw input).
For some reason. I find the drake style so appealing. Like sure the C1 looks almost like a luxury hauler but the Cutty feels like your driving a jeep wrangler of space or something
i managed to fit 70+ crates in the Cutty from salvage with a vulture, managed to fit the paint of an entire c2 in it, it was only slighty scary stacking boxes with no snapping. I even lost a few from them just vanishing into the void when i picked them up.
To be fair the difference between the c1 and the cutty is the difference between wanting to write on that bebop or the Enterprise, One looks like a scrap pile that can somehow fly while the other one looks like it was made by the freaking Federation of planets.
Love my Cutlass, best overall and a great ROC hauler, will land anywhere and gets the hell out of Dodge when needed. Easy to land and take off in hangers too.
I love flying the Spirit more, but the turret makes the cutty just a little bit more survivable against an ambush. Really a matter of preference between these two.
Cutty and freelancer are the 2 ships closest to the C1. The freelancer has more shields, the cutty has more guns. The C1 has neither. It has both of thier weakness. Neither of thier strengths. The C1 just looks cool. If you fly with head tracking the cutty can be the most fun with its incredible vision from the pilot seat. The turret is one of the best in the game to use Imo I was hoping the C1 would be closer. Maybe the Zeus can do it.
@@ViciDeum i ran it a bit after watching your video, she is a very nice ship and very useful. Im looking forward to some freelancer improvements as well. Cheers bud!
Hello, i am waiting for the zeus mk 2 to come out, i have several doubts, one of them is that if i upgrade my cutlass black to the c1 (which only costs me 16 €) when the zeus comes out i can upgrade the c1 to the zeus? and the other one is that when will the zeus come out approximately?
@@zykup that makes sense to me, for now cutty is the best for me so i will keep that until we can see about Zeus. Would be cool if the Zeus is good but we will see.
@@ViciDeum for the oft solo player i think the c1 trumps the zeus. all the zeus ships require a crew to get the most out of it (especially the mr which makes the cutlass blue still better for solo as well). you do get 3x the shield with the zeus though - on paper at least.
I say Cutlass for group, and C1 for solo. Simple really, Cutlass has a turret, C1 doesnt. For when you arent in a group, you can ditch the Cutlass in favor of the C1 for better handling and significantly better durability.
I have flown and own both. solo, the c1 is a better fit, but the turret on the cutty makes for a better multicrew experience. the cutty's tractor beam is slightly bugged at the moment, it is supposed to extend on a rail.. but the rail is not extending if you intend to fight, the C1 gets hit a lot easier because from top aspect its a barn door compared to the cutty.
The real question people thinking about buying these is: "Do I want to play multicrew with a friend often?" In which case the Cutty Black wins out big, with its gunturret offering a combat playstyle that the C1 lacks.
They should really make that manned turret into a remote one, that way the Co pilot gets something more to do and the little gunners alcove can be made into a terlit
I like the c1 solo, but if I had to make a choice all around it's the cutty black. Either its a friend in the turret, and co pilot to missile spam, or vtol funnies to extend ranges in a pvp Dogfight to attempt to get out of a rate fight I got with the cutlass black, but if you already have a cutty blue just get a c1. (PvP fighting against C1 Dogfighting Joke) I love pancakes.
I think the Cutty has an indescribable allure. There's something about it that can't be put on paper, but is easy to love. While the C1 has all the utilty and then some, there's a special hidden quality to the Cutty!
Cutlass Black is the best to my playstyle I can land and take off really fast with position landing and if a fast fighter is trying to kill your fly up turn your engines turn all the way around and turn your engines again so your fly past them what all your speed it has the most advantages in a bad situation
I CCU'd up to the C1 and did not like that it was so wide and that one shot from a 325a npc could blow it out of the sky. Upgraded it to a Taurus and bought a Cutty in game which I do really like. I especially like it's vtols and having three entrances so you can park on uneven ground and still get back in the ship.
The Taurus is a legendary ship and arguably the best all rounder in the game. While the C1 has its uses, I feel it pales in comparison. And congrats on your pickup, I'm glad you found a ship that works best for you!
The Cutty will be getting a rework soon, it is starting to show its age. I think that the C1 works well for the "dove" playstyle that has some teeth, while the Cutty works well for the "wolf" playstyle that has some utility. I love the Cutlass Blue's cockpit and side airlocks, I just wish that I could keep the Bllack's cargo bay if I wanted. I lean to the Spirit C1 for my desired gameplay though. Hopefully they can add more profitable legal cargo missions relatively soon. Maybe we will get that with the Distribution Centers.
I think the dove and wolf comparisons are accurate. The Cutty definitely seems like its got more teeth. And I'm really curious to see what the Cutty refresh looks like too!
I do think the Cutty Black deserved an extra half point for the monstrous number of missiles. The Cutty also lets you bring a friend with you to improve firepower. These two ships should be tied. Cutty is a better combat ship.
If they don’t figure out how to give the C1 appropriate hangars I’m ditching mine, by far the worse choice in terms of daily-use since its constantly a chore to land.
The thing is that C1 is pretty much finished as is... but Cutty is supposed to be modular and is missing its forward tractor beams... so... yeah... for pure cargo hauling is C1 probably better but for most other things is Cutty more versatile.
It really is, they're honestly both great ships! I'd recommend renting them both in Arena Commander first and seeing which appeals to you most! And if you need the REC to rent them, just play a few games of Star Marine or pirate swarm and you should have the credits in no time!
I own both, so I don't really have to choose. However, I look at this way, for 2 people the Cutty is hands down better. If I'm flying alone I use the C1. Love both of them.
Nice video, I think the zues line up is probably the best. We all need to remember the freelancer still needs an update which may push the FreeLancer Max as one of the best upgrade ships.
The Zeus isnt going to be the best, Its stats and components were based around a future redesign of components. The CL is going to be more inline with the freelancer max. In any case, its intended to compete with the spirit, freelancer, and cutlass lines so those will be brought more in line with the zeus. Gotta remember that the Zues is intended to to be the primary medium ship first upgrade lineup for RSI. Its not going to be miles better than the Drake, Crusader and Misc lines.
some points (design, outlook etc) are way too subjective imho. I meltet my Cutlass and got the C1. and while actually flying feels slightly better, the sheer width / size makes it ... a little tedious. laning on planets is more of hassle as is landing in hangars. it always felt more cumbersome. so I melted again and now flying cutlass again. it just feels right (for me that is)
I think that's a solid upgrade, especially given the lower utility of the Red atm. And while I haven't had a chance to try out the A1 yet, I'm excited to give it a spin!
Love your comparison! any chance on doing one for the Mercury? I have a Cutty, but want to improve my hauling capabilities. I was looking at C1 and MSR as I like they looks of both, and they seem fast. I want to be able to turn and run since I experienced a near miss on a coordinated effort to take over me and a friend salvaging. Three ships showed up, 2 Cutty's and a 3rd I couldn't tell (some sort of ship that can scan??). All that to say I want to maximize my safety to get my cargo to safety. What are your thoughts?
MSR is much faster and has more cargo scu, but it is really pricey and interior (I m drake guy) is full of wasted space. Did you look at 400i? It is second fastest ship in game, really nice, cost same as C1, but it has small cargo like cutty and again, wasted interior spaces
You could go the MSR route, but if you're just looking for more cargo protection I'd honestly recommend the Taurus. The extra strength from its size 3 large shield atop ridiculous pilot firepower ensures you've got plenty of staying power in any fight, and should be more than enough to secure your payload!
Solo, the C1 gets the nod from me. Larger cargo bay offsets the vast cross-section. But if you fly with a friend? There's basically no contest - the Black wins hands down. There's basically nothing for a second person to do aboard a C1 in flight. And the twin s3 turret with the outsized turret capacitors is *huge* in combat. The C1's got looks for days, but if you're not flying solo? It's just not as good.
I blow up every C1 I come up against. I would just go larger if I was thinking of buying a C1. The Cutlass Black matters where it counts. Or if you just want an entry level hauler, then the C1 is a good choice. The placement of the tractor beam on the C1 is definitely better.
I agree, bigger ships often have much better survivability, esp when you get size 3 large shields and up. But for its role, the C1 is a great little hauler and runabout!
It’s not available yet, but will be soon! There’s a period of 3-6 months after a new ship releases where it’s not available for an in game purchase. But after that time it’ll remain an option to buy in game!
Fully agree. Though the Cutty Black is the more combat oriented *cough* piracy *cough*, I think that the C1 having more amenities geared towards cargo hauling and a larger cargo capacity gives it the fair win as a freighter
I’ve Swore by my Cutty Black and even after driving the A1 I thought I’d prefer the Cutty still for a work horse…. But. I’ve had my thrusters picked off too many times lol.
Dont forget that the c1 spirit, and the spirit line in general, ALSO has solid vtol capability. The wing tip manouvering thrusters rotate downwards and provide a substantial amount of thrust. In any case, people PLEASE do not forget that the Zeus lineup IS NOT INTENDED TO BE BETTER THAN THESE SHIPS. The Zeus ship line was balanced with a as of yet unimplemented component adjustment which WILL be applied to all ships. The Zeus is intended to compete alongside the Cutlass, Spirit, and Freelancer lines. Its the RSI medium ship starting line.
You're absolutly right. I'm always wondering about people praising the unreleased Zeus. The Spirit and Cutty are well balanced. Only the freelancer could need a litte buff to be in line.
That's true, it does have impressive VTOL! It's hard to compare to the Cutty given how truly absurd its VTOL is, but its still very powerful! And I agree, the Zeus lineup will be an addition and counterbalance to this class of ship, not the outright better upgrade!
I think the C1 is more in the range of the freelancer, i have a freelancer and am trying to decide if i should switch or not, the only 2 turn offs for the c1 for me is the lack of a turret, and the size 1 shield, is the c1 better than the freelancer in any way other than maneuverability?
This one is easy. Are you going to visit a hanger more than once a week? Cutty. If you are going to find a flat spot in Pyro home, C1. Dealing with the Spirit and bay doors sucks.
You'll prise my Drake only from the vice=like grip of my cold dead fiiongers...But. I do like the C1, showing what a modern multi rolwe design can do, in some respects the Corsair is a competitor on cargo. I wish the C1 )and A1)could fold their wings somewhat, hangars are a tight squeeze, especial;ly on mT and Hurston if the weather is bad.
Hahaha, well the C1 must be something special if it still manages to grab your attention! And I agree, the wings could be folded tighter, and it absolutely needs a bigger hangar!
@ViciDeum if I were running MISC I'd be telling the Freelancer design team to get cracking on a serious upgrade to compete or go put of business in the multi role sector. Lot of competitors there with the Zeus series waiting in the wings.
@@ViciDeum The starters are the Mustang, the Avenger, the Cutter, and other small ships without a co-pilot. The Cutty is medium size. Isn't a starter. It is a multi-role and multiplayer ship. Plus it costs over $100... It is misleading for new players to say that it is a starter.
@@Solar546 I'm sorry, anything on the RSI pledge store that says "Starter pack" is a starter pack. Whether you want to invest £43 for the Aurora or £264 for the connie andromeda, they are all labelled "Starter packs". If you personally have an issue with that, that has nothing to do with me. I bought the Cutlass Black "Starter pack"
I just use the cutlass blue.. paper to paper it blows the c1 out.. an I use the A1 because it's a great ship to have .. but if I had to stay with one.. cutty blue is what I would stay with
I'm wondering how the blue blows the c1 out if you go for cargo runnings...... The Blue is a nice ship. But who konws how long it keeps it's superiour speed. And the cells taking to much space.
@@vonrosphe3098 🤔 cargo running? That's the only stat it has better. The Blue has better acceleration, speed, fire power, missile space, quantum dampener, cockpit view, multiple exits. All you can say is.. not enough space for my garbage at the back. I have a MSR with STILL better stats than the C1, and 114 of cargo if that is all you really want in a ship.. the c1 is not really that great..
@@danny1988221 But you forget the price tag. In which world you compare a C1 with a MSR? Also the Blue has a higer price. And i don't think the blues speed and acceleration are final. For now it's better. Until you want to use the cargo hold. Have you tried to do pve bounty missions and collect and sell the cargo? The C1 is much better for this than the blue.
@@danny1988221 Ok, i don't think we have to argue any longer. If you think the price difference between black and c1 is the same like c1 to blue and MSR i stop talking to a troll like you. (Black 110$, C1 125$, Blue 175$, MSR 260$)
again its not as close as you indicate IMO. The Spirit C1 is 3 to 4 points ahead of the black. specifically in utility and flight model...and dont believe enough credit was given for the fuel.
Love both but the C1 styling just does it for me over the cutty. It does feel a bit out of place when used as a ROC hauler, getting the shiny paint dusty but for now is the best of the pick for me until the Zeus arrives.
It's hard for me to make a choice 😂 I absolutely loooooove the Cutlass interior design (all of it, cockpit, displays, cargo hold, multiple doors, ramp, etc) but the exterior is absolute trash. On the other side is the C1, which exterior design is superb, very tasteful, while the interior is meh at best. I wish I could mix the two !
They're both great choices, it's hard to go wrong with either! I'd say rent and try them both out in Arena Commander and see which appeals best to you!
The C1 has VTOL as well that is nearly on par with the Cutty Black. I don't think it is as big of an advantage as you report. And the lack of a turret is not nearly as annoying as the half gimbled guns that can't be changed to all gimbles. If i have a friend, i just bring a snub fighter to replace the turret.
the cutty black is better than the C1, u rated the firepower too low. and over rated the defense of the C1. the C1 is a massive easy to hit target. the C1 has a better tractor than the black hands down. and if it had a 2nd shield it would be better than the black in every stat EXCEPT firepower. but it doesnt. and the firepower advantage and smaller hitbox of the black cant be overlooked even if it is squishier, it wont soak as much damage.
The C1 isn't so massive if you face you're target. And it's not as fragile. It also has a slight advantag with pilot controlled guns because of the nose turret. But if you consider missiles or a turret gunner the cutty is better. For Solo Pilots it's not a big difference. Very similar pilot guns. Same shields. C1 is easier to hit but can take more damage and has better acceleration. Cutty has the missiles, is smaller but tends to looses weapons and thrusters.
@@vonrosphe3098 the point was from the top and bottom the C1 is a way bigger/harder to miss target than the Cutty is. i never said the C1 didnt have some good angles but its a giant flat space stingray, its easy to stay with 1 of its broad sides facing you.
@@TheAngriestGamer. Depends on the attacker and the c1 pilot. A very agile ships can exploit the big surface. But a less agile ship not. The c1 isn't that sluggish. And it has good VTOL and good acceleration which helps to show only the smaller sides and front.
The cutty would be a decent missile choice if the cutty also dont become the source of so many damn game breaking bug's like disabled inventories and death seats
I don't understand people that are happy to upgrade their cutty for the spirit c1 and are happy for that. This game is buggy. it is nice but you can't finish 50% of missions sometimes because there is bugs in them. So why enjoy and put so much money in game with these failures? You can buy ships with in-game money. So don't spend all your RL cash in a game not finished! About the cutty, i don't see where the c1 is so better for its style. Cutty has an agressive line. You can't compete with that. C1 has just a stylish line like an expensive car but in my opinion has nothing really better to offer.
@@ViciDeum in fact, what i really prefer are its side doors really practical. My thought was more about the game itself and spending real money for it. Less about the ship itself. :)
Cute but useless video as all others in the past feom any youtubers as scores are patch base and dont reflect well end game release. Black is prime example, it has been THE ship to fly or die down to the most horrific papership-like.
The C1 is big and dopey, and it's impractical for most missions, not to mention that the colour scheme is awful. The Cutlass Black is by far the best starting ship to buy for real money that's in the game. The durability it has is insane.
I traded my Cutty for the C1 and have no regrets. Only thing I would say is worse about the C1 is getting it out of hangers.
You'll get the hang of it but i agree that's not normal. It's like a sick penalty that has no reasoning whatsoever.

Do you mean you can lock the back door?
I keep my doors locked by default so that only party members can open them. I have RCtrl+L keybound to the Door Lock Toggle.
@@Storm-Cleaver have no idea about this feature
Congrats on that feat of jenga, that's seriously packed up tight haha!
It’s still a great all rounder with a ton of utility!
I love flying the Spirit more, but the turret makes the cutty just a little bit more survivable against an ambush. Really a matter of preference between these two.
bro u really deserves more subscribers
Thank you for the kind words, I really appreciate your support!
The turret is one of the best in the game to use Imo
I was hoping the C1 would be closer.
Maybe the Zeus can do it.
I think the C1 has a niche for cargo hauling in safe space, but think the Zeus will more closely fit the bill for most players once released!
I agree, and think the Cutty makes the better multi crew while the C1 is a stronger solo ship!
I agree, the C1 is better solo while the Cutty is better with friends! But hopefully after the Cutty gets its rework, it won’t have those drawbacks!
The real question people thinking about buying these is: "Do I want to play multicrew with a friend often?" In which case the Cutty Black wins out big, with its gunturret offering a combat playstyle that the C1 lacks.
Right. Both ships are good options for Solo Pilots. But the Cutty is the better one for multicrew.
That’s an awesome point! The C1 excels in solo gameplay while the Cutty is a ton of fun for multi crew!
They should really make that manned turret into a remote one, that way the Co pilot gets something more to do and the little gunners alcove can be made into a terlit
I like this idea and prefer remote turrets a lot of the time!
Cutty wins for me because of the secondary turret for friends. Just a more well rounded multipurpose ship. Like then handeling of the c1 more
That secondary turret is awesome, and gives some fun multi role gameplay for friends!
But should the C1 has similar vtol options in pvp? I don't play pvp so often. I'm just curious.
I think the Cutty has an indescribable allure. There's something about it that can't be put on paper, but is easy to love. While the C1 has all the utilty and then some, there's a special hidden quality to the Cutty!
The Gutless Cutless lost me when it grew in size to that of a moving van. So now I am firmly in the C1 camp till Aegis makes a comparable ship.
It was nice and compact! And I also look forward to seeing more ships in that smaller starter class!
you deserve more subscribers
I appreciate the kind words, thank you!
That was a bug on a freshly released ship IN the PTU. Its NOT that fragile.
The c1 also has VTOL. The main drawback is the missing second entry.
Haha, that's fair! It brings a serious payload and with a fun turret for friends!
I want to win the damn ship giveaway for once, that is what i want
I wish you the very best luck! While I don't do ship giveaways on this channel, I'm rooting for you to get one!
If they don’t figure out how to give the C1 appropriate hangars I’m ditching mine, by far the worse choice in terms of daily-use since its constantly a chore to land.
The choice in hangar size is extremely questionable, I completely agree!
The thing is that C1 is pretty much finished as is... but Cutty is supposed to be modular and is missing its forward tractor beams... so... yeah... for pure cargo hauling is C1 probably better but for most other things is Cutty more versatile.
Its hard to beat the versatility of the Cuttty! And as you mention, it'll be even better when fully finished!
I like the C1 because it reminds me of ME Normandy.
Bought in SC in 2014 with the 325a pack.. havent really touched it since.. I know I want to upgrade to one of these, but the choice is so hard. lol
It really is, they're honestly both great ships! I'd recommend renting them both in Arena Commander first and seeing which appeals to you most! And if you need the REC to rent them, just play a few games of Star Marine or pirate swarm and you should have the credits in no time!
Guys, you know if the greycat roc 2 seat fit in the c1?
I own both, so I don't really have to choose. However, I look at this way, for 2 people the Cutty is hands down better. If I'm flying alone I use the C1. Love both of them.
Congrats on your pickups! And I agree completely, the Cutty is better for multi-crew while the C1 is better solo!
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed this! And I'm really looking forward to them fixing the Freelancer series, I'm sure they'll get the love they deserve!
some points (design, outlook etc) are way too subjective imho.
I meltet my Cutlass and got the C1. and while actually flying feels slightly better, the sheer width / size makes it ... a little tedious. laning on planets is more of hassle as is landing in hangars.
it always felt more cumbersome.
so I melted again and now flying cutlass again. it just feels right (for me that is)
I agree, fly what feels best for you! But they aren’t helping anything with the small size of those Spirit hangars haha
Swapped out my Red for a Zeus...but the A1 loaner isnt bad!
I think that's a solid upgrade, especially given the lower utility of the Red atm. And while I haven't had a chance to try out the A1 yet, I'm excited to give it a spin!
I upgraded my freelancer for the C1, and love it, much easier to get the ROC in it now and it's also a capable bounty hunter ship!
Congrats on your upgrade! I think the C1 will give you a lot of joy in the verse, esp over the Freelancer and its more dated design!
Or you park a snub fighter in the C1 for the second person.
That’s a good argument, and I agree. I think the C1 is an outstanding solo ship but the Cutty is a bit better for multi crew!
So I’m confused abt the C1. Is it only available through the pledge store or can it be bought in game too?
Not buyable in-game yet
It’s not available yet, but will be soon! There’s a period of 3-6 months after a new ship releases where it’s not available for an in game purchase. But after that time it’ll remain an option to buy in game!
Fully agree. Though the Cutty Black is the more combat oriented *cough* piracy *cough*, I think that the C1 having more amenities geared towards cargo hauling and a larger cargo capacity gives it the fair win as a freighter
I agree, the C1 is definitely more commercial/industrial, while the Cutty leans more into the "freelance" type of work haha
I own both a C1 and a cutty but use the C1 more because it is more functional solo
It's such a great solo ship with a ton of functionality! And congrats on both your pickups as well!
I’ve Swore by my Cutty Black and even after driving the A1 I thought I’d prefer the Cutty still for a work horse…. But. I’ve had my thrusters picked off too many times lol.
The Spirit series is awesome but the Cutty will forever have a place in the verse!
I upgraded from a cutty to a c1 because I had some store credit was only 6 $ and well worth that 6$
Congrats on your upgrade, it’s definitely worth the $6!
@@ViciDeum for sure! Really fell in love with the c1 from the first time i saw it
Thanks for the info! Looks like the C1 is the one to go for.
You’re welcome, I’m glad you found this helpful!
When will the cutty get a gold pass?
I think the C1 is more in the range of the freelancer, i have a freelancer and am trying to decide if i should switch or not, the only 2 turn offs for the c1 for me is the lack of a turret, and the size 1 shield, is the c1 better than the freelancer in any way other than maneuverability?
The C1 has better handling and a newer design, but they’re pretty close all things considered!
This one is easy. Are you going to visit a hanger more than once a week? Cutty. If you are going to find a flat spot in Pyro home, C1.
Dealing with the Spirit and bay doors sucks.
They really do need to get better at picking hangars for certain ships 😂
Not a Drake man but love my Cutty starter. I will get a spirit in game though just for options when it becomes available.
It's not a starter
That's why I said In game@@Solar546. I already have my starter which is a cutty black. Just will get one for different options.
The Cutty is an awesome starter! And buying in game is always a great play!
I had a Cutty. I now fly the C-1. Im just afraid I will rip a wing off in the hangers.
They really need to upgrade the size of the C1’s hangars!
Cutlass is still better, but C1 has more new shiny feature.
Cutty isn't straight better. Both ships have advantages and disadvantages. None is overall better.
The cutlass can do about 50-60% more damage with a crew, while the spirit can supposedly take about 100% more damage solo.
The Cutty will forever remain an amazing ship, but the C1 brings a ton of great features!
@@vonrosphe3098 and the C1 is more than the cutlass black.. so what's the point?
@@danny1988221 Ok, i don't think we have to argue any longer. If you think the price difference between black and c1 is the same like c1 to blue and MSR i stop talking to a troll like you. (Black 110$, C1 125$, Blue 175$, MSR 260$)
Cutlass is just too cool from the whole military perspective. Just looks so mean instead of lean.
again its not as close as you indicate IMO. The Spirit C1 is 3 to 4 points ahead of the black. specifically in utility and flight model...and dont believe enough credit was given for the fuel.
Those are fair points, the C1 is a really good ship!
He doesn't know the Spirit has VTOL too?
It has great VTOL! I just think the Cutty’s is hard to beat!
C1 has vtol as well.
That’s true, just less powerful than the Cutty!
Oh yeah, C1 takes the cake for me as my daily.
It’s such a great ship!
No one talk about Freelancer. LOL
Forgotten ship
It is the forgotten child of the mid tier multi role cargo lineup!
Love both but the C1 styling just does it for me over the cutty. It does feel a bit out of place when used as a ROC hauler, getting the shiny paint dusty but for now is the best of the pick for me until the Zeus arrives.
Its a damn good looking ship, although I see your point about the ROC haha
I will never betray my cutty
It's a great ship, even if a bit outclassed by the C1 in the current game!
I'd say rent and try them both out in Arena Commander and see which appeals best to you!
the turret on the black means I can play with my son. while the C1 is superior shio, the Black is better
The Cutty absolutely wins in multi crew!
Easy choice, I don't fly Drake. Great comparison nonetheless.
I’m glad you enjoyed this! And that definitely makes the decision easier haha
I like cutlass, but its buggy. mygod, how much i suffered getting ROC out of it.
Yea it can be a difficult journey with ground vehicles and any ship haha
Get them both
When in doubt, why not both!
The C1 seems more to be comparable to the Corsair.
I don't think it can compete quite as well in that class, given its weaker shields, fewer amenities and less armaments
C! is better than black in only 1 area, looks... the black has guns and more carry compacity. who wins in a organic duel the black
I agree, the C1 has great VTOL it’s just hard to compare with how good the Cutty’s is!
Uh… the spirit has vtol too
True, although not to the extent or power of the Cutty!
@@ViciDeum the whole hype around crusader ships are the engines and thrusters… they have an entire presentation of it at the visitors center on orison
the cutty black is better than the C1, u rated the firepower too low. and over rated the defense of the C1.
the C1 is a massive easy to hit target.
the C1 has a better tractor than the black hands down. and if it had a 2nd shield it would be better than the black in every stat EXCEPT firepower. but it doesnt. and the firepower advantage and smaller hitbox of the black cant be overlooked even if it is squishier, it wont soak as much damage.
I think those are fair counterpoints and agree the Cutty edges out the C1 especially with an extra turret gunner!
c1
I chose the zeus mk2 cl :)
Another awesome ship!
The cutty would be a decent missile choice if the cutty also dont become the source of so many damn game breaking bug's like disabled inventories and death seats
I look forward to the day when ships are judged based on their performance and not their bugs haha. But that’s a good point!
The C1 has a ton of utility and flies really well, but I agree you should ultimately fly what appeals to your heart and lead from there!
@@ViciDeum in fact, what i really prefer are its side doors really practical. My thought was more about the game itself and spending real money for it. Less about the ship itself. :)
"C1 redefines medium multi-role haulers"
Yeah by being a Connie-sized ship with Cutlass-level performance.
Haha, fair enough! Although it’s not quite that large, it does offer a great amount of performance for the price!
Cute but useless video as all others in the past feom any youtubers as scores are patch base and dont reflect well end game release.
Black is prime example, it has been THE ship to fly or die down to the most horrific papership-like.
I agree that everything's subject to change before release, but a lot of the core systems are already in to help influence my decisions!
The C1 is big and dopey, and it's impractical for most missions, not to mention that the colour scheme is awful. The Cutlass Black is by far the best starting ship to buy for real money that's in the game. The durability it has is insane.
your comparisons are as milk-toast as they come
I balance everything as best as I can, but I hear your feedback!
