Artimus Pyle is originally from Louisville, Kentucky... he was born in 1948, enlisted in the USMC in 1968 - trained in avionics mechanics... honorably discharged as a Sergeant in 1971... Artimus Pyle played on 7 Lynryd Skynryd albums.
Thank you, Google.
He did and he's told us many times how his father died in a plane crash as well as his bandmates and friends, that's why he plays the music for them today...His new cd comes out February 2024 and pre-orders will soon arrive...
@@PaulShaw-ex7riI thought Larry passed away soon after retiring from 38 Special.
He used to have a pet rabbit, too.
Artimus Pile is only his stage name. Gene Odem gives us his real name in a documentary. Gene was Ronnie’s childhood friend, fishing buddy and personal bodyguard.
Artimus, finally getting recognition! Years of battles of gag orders! The original Street Survivor of music industry! And Thank you for your service in the USMC! Semper Fi ,Bro! Yes Sgt Pyle!
Rick Medlocke and Greg T. Walker, both alive, and both had a stint with Lynyrd Skynyrd before reforming Blackfoot.
Yes but not original members like Artimus Pyle.@@philipwalker7535
GOOOOOLY SHAAZZZMMM😊
HOOTIE HHHOO HOOTIE HHHOO.
artimus pyle is a class act. still got chops for a 75 year old man. god bless
Artimus is doing a great job in keeping his part of the legacy alive. Keep on rockin' APB!!
He's a convicted child molester. Look it up
Yes, your awesome Sir ! Bless you sir. Tim
The lead singer has a powerful voice !!
Good Job Man !!
over singing and too polished. Not Raw enough. Lead Guitarist is good tho.
The guy's name was Jerrod Niemann check out his CD in the country music aisle it's pretty good too
Jarrod is not the lead singer. Brad Drudren is as well as Scott Raines and Jerry Lyda
He's the one singing this song though.
@@warrtiger9780 agreed and he is just parroting the words.. don't mean anything to him ..no feeling
God bless you Artimus !!!! You are a kind-hearted class act. You speak nothing but kind words about Ronnie. You are admired and respected by many. Keep rocking Artimus !!
Artimus is a great American and is proud of his service to this country. Being a part of one of the best bands ever is icing on the cake. Thank you for having him on your show, Governor Huckabee.
ex-guv now. His daughter's in charge..
Gawd
I saw them many many times. There was no one like them. Artemis is a great drummer Rossington Wilkerson told me he came names Allen, something and gains. He put new life into them the last few years. God bless Artemis.
Don’t forget, Ed King he was him and Ronnie wrote his songs at the beginning
i think artimus is for real, i can tell he can just barely even talk about this without breaking down, he is a good man
What a man, what a man, what a MIGHTY good man! Semper Fi Brother!!! He is as hard as they come, serving ALL the citizens of the United States of America before getting recognized for his impeccable drumming. Once a Marine, always a Marine. I saw them all in '72 with Charlie Daniels, what a concert!! Long live the "anthems"!
When did you serve
It doesn't get much better than this. I think the members who have passed would be proud of this performance. Great job and thanks for keeping the legacy alive!
Amen! "Ditto" to all your praise for Artemus & Skynyrd...one of the best Bands that will live.....4ever.....
Artimus Pyle is not only a great drummer, better yet, he is an incredible human being
I saw the original Lynyrd Skynyrd band perform at a small cinema in Mableton Georgia. I think they were cutting their first album in Atlanta. I was a teenager 15 and meet the the whole band and what a show. I'm 64 now and what a memory of that experience I've been able to hold onto for years. The band was really unknown at the time I saw them and who would have known what they became it was in the seventies. I always have and always will cherish that moment. God bless them all and forever their music will carry on....
Same age as you bro, the 70s where great years
This performance was so good! 🥳🎸
He's a convicted child molester. Look it up
Sorry but no it wasn't.. it has no feeling .. no reality
I know... I've been there before ...
@@jamesgibson5876 it's ok 🙂
@@nocturnalvisionmusic OK? Yes but that isn't..so good..
The smell that surrounds you
Every AMERICAN that loves this Country should watch this video a couple of times.Drugs are killing the USA.Great tribute too L/S.
United we stand . With biden we fail.
Every American must also have an honest pondering of who is bringing the dope in, and their reason for doing so.
Amen!
@shovedhead
Right on.
That's what I've been saying since the 80s.
There's been a steady reliable supply of drugs from shore to shore for 60years. Couldn't happen without govt involvement
Lol 😆😆
First concert I ever went to September 1976 Wichita Kansas.
Thank you Artemis, you and your band absolutely nailed it tonight
He spells it Artimus
I always like Artimus Pyle..i thought he was a great drummer..I've played drums since 1965..Artimus was a inspiration to me i could play every song they had and with Bob Burns as well..i will always like lynard skynrd... play on Artie..👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
me 2. he lives near me, never met the cat but my buddy knows him. if im fortunate enough to meet him i will ask him WHAT CYMBALS DID YOU USE !!
My Favorite Song from Lynyrd Skynyrd. These guys nailed it.
Artimus Pyle is a force of Nature! His playing gets better and better. Cant wait to hear the new record! Artimus your killing it brother!!
Ok
I saw Skynyrd in ‘75 in Sacramento…Artimus came out during the sound check, sat at his drums and played the most impressive fill I’ve ever heard…I remember it like it was last night! I might be just a bit biased, cuz in my opinion, Lynyrd Skynyrd is…THE GREATEST BAND EVER!!!!
What month did they play n in Sacramento? And venue? Never ever heard of them having a pre plane crash show there?
@@zoramirez-jv9hj Sacramento Memorial Auditorium, in ‘75 The Outlaws opened and in ‘76 Ed had left and Steve hadn’t joined yet, so just Allen and Gary…Charlie Daniels opened that show…
I was lucky enough to see Artimus pyle in consert at the county fair WOW WHAT A
SHOW
I'll never forget.
Huckabee is so cool to have all the Skynyrd folks on. Love him. Arty was great!
Artimus, Ronnie and the band was smiling before the big man today listening to you and the boys tear it up! Great job!
I’ve met the man he is very humble RIP RVZ !
I must say Artimus has’s them playing it perfectly and completely original. I don’t think there’s another group that’ll be able to play it to the perfection Artimus has them play. Though Ronnie’s voice is one of a kind and I still believe his original version well always be the most beautiful and heartfelt for generations to come. Like he said “our music we’ll be around for a 1000 years or more.” God bless ‘em and the USA Amen. 🇺🇸
Great job all! And a big Thank you to Artimus for you service! Keep on rocking brothers!👍
awesome Artimus and band.God bless everyone.
Outstanding! This is my 2d favorite LS song, and these guys absolutely nailed it. The guy on the far left playing the solos that Steve Gaines played for LS were spot on. I'm glad I found this.
Ditto!
That is the best performance from a band that I've seen in a long time. Great bunch of musicians!! ;)
Wow!!! What a workout, behind that kit!!
What a great man!
I've seen the original Lynard Skynyrd several times, a great band.
This band here was good ( I like the original of most bands) ... I would go see them
Pyle's band does LS proud...excellent!
Met and hung out with AP at local bar I worked at when he performed. I can say, he's probably the nicest and humblest musician and man I ever met.
Feel the Sound .. Just Back in Time 💫
Sorry I missed you in Beaufort, SC…use to see you in Jax Bach…rode with you on your old Yellow Bus… full of your drums…Went lil Derick Trucks Birthday Party with you after leaving Magnolias on Bach Blvd. US Vietnam Veteran, and Army Doorgunner
Saw the ORIGINAL Lynyrd Skynyrd at Murray State Univ. circa 1975, 12:23 with Ed King and Bob Burns on drums. They "warmed up" for REO Speedwagon. REO was touring on "Riding The Storm Out". Great show. This was Skynryrd's first national tour, I think. A memory for all time.
Had to be 74 but what a memory!
Artimus finally getting what he deserves recognition of being part of the greatest band of all times
Way to Artimus! So happy for you and the band!!! Much love Mo you rocket scientist friend!!!
Artimus is a living legend, as is the Governor. Thank you to both and long live Lynyrd Skynyrd ! Also great performance by Arti and the band. Ronnie wanted perfection during every show and it shows to this day in his exact rendition.
I can remember when Artimus joined Lynyrd Skynyrd. Great Band!!
Bob burns left I believe in 74 or 75 and artimus joined then. You sir have a great memory. 👍
i saw artimus pyle in a concert with his band years ago in fairhill maryland his band is great when i saw them years ago. nice guy.
Artimus Pyle! I love seeing this! Band sounds great.
This is absolutely the best version of That Smell I heard APB do (to date) and I know I saw/heard every Version of them performing it on UA-cam. Don’t get me wrong, all the other ones are truly awesome but this one is TOP NOTCH!
Thanks Mike for having The Pyle play this song.
Artimus Pyle and Plant were my 1st teen crushes 😆 Imo, Artimus never got the recognition he deserves. Even the headlines said Gary was last surviving member...so not true.
Great interview. Very well spoken and personable. Killing it on the drums.
I knew Thomas Delmar Pyle, Artimus, in the early 70s before Lynerd Skynerd in Spartanburg S.C. introduced Dean Kilpatrick, Leon Wilkerson and Cassie Gaines to me.Great Guy!
Gary was the last original member
Gary was only the last CHARTER member.
Artemus replaced Bobby Burns as drummer in 1975.
Great job Artimus and band!
The guy with the white guitar is simply amazing.
Love his playing.
From an Italian Skynyrd lover ✌🏻❤️
Mr. Scott Raines. If you play, he's a great instructor: ua-cam.com/channels/Pkm_0-TulfVzNmOtEkiU0g.html
G.O.A.T,American made,❤❤❤❤❤
Artimus Pyle, you are a true Patriot.
Great job!!! Keeping it alive!
Really good performance. Like letter-perfect. These guys do Skynyrd the right way!
I played guitar in a LS tribute for 6 years. Had an Atlantic City show and he sat in on Free Bird. That drumming style was like hearing One More from the Road behind my head. It was a unique experience.
How did you manage to get him to do that?
@@zoramirez-jv9hj the singer (band leader ) knew he was in town and contacted him at a different function near us. Our leader was a radio dj also, I think he may have interviewed him before to create a contact.
@@bluesslider76 that’s amazing, you’re one lucky guy
@@zoramirez-jv9hj it was a unique experience to hear that drummer behind you. Like a time warp to hearing the album the 1st time . 🍺🍺
Hi I meet Artimus Pyles,,
In St, Augustin Florida, In a Bar on main Street,,, And the band that was praying that night,,Keep asking him to come play with them,,,, That's when I heard him play in real life for the first time,,,,I will never forget that night, as long as live ❤❤❤❤❤😊
Listen to skynyrds version of Crossroads, A . Pyle is a monster on the drums, best version is live from England concert!!
Agree 100% with you on that!
WAR & STREET... SURVIVOR... KEEP ON TRUCKIN' ART... 🗿
I just love this guy-so humble, truth teller, just an all around good guy. Much love to ya, Artimus.
Love Gary Rossington Band Member Grave
Love the note for note guitar solo's
Outstanding, true to the original studio cut, by the whole band and excellent musicians. Very impressed how you ALWAYS honor Ronnie. It's always Ronnie 1st, and we 2nd. God Bless, and Rest in Peace to ALL the boys & family upstairs. 🙏🦅
Saw them about 2 months ago in pa, very good show would highly recommend.
Always has kind words about Ronnie.
That song was written at a time when Skynyrd band members were "indulging" and "feeling no pain." Ronnie later said in interviews that he had a bad feeling about where the band's drug and alcohol habits were headed. Gary Rossington had just totaled his new Ford Gran Torino by crashing into an oak tree while under the influence, sustaining injuries including broken teeth and causing a delay in that year's tour. Gary (nicknamed Prince Charming by bandmates) reportedly was also into Quaaludes - all of this is in the song's lyrics. "Whiskey bottle, brand new car...oak tree you're in my way." And later, "Now they call you Prince Charming, can't speak a word when you're full of 'ludes..." Ronnie was warning everyone about the road they were headed down...
Americans love Lynyrd Skynyrd!
The greatest cover band of all time. Done with Love, Passion, respect and appreciation.
Ronnie was The Maestro indeed
🎶🎤🎸🎸🎸🎸🎹🥁🎶
all-time heart and soul of southern rock and roll ❤️😁🌹
Keeping the great sound alive. Thanks Artemis and guys!
I loved That Smell 💜💜💜💜💜💜
Nicest man I’ve ever met
I saw these guys prior to the tragic crash , at Oxford Polytechnic in 1976.
Amazing concert and never forgotten, it was an honour to see you 😊
Those 2 guitar players did quite well.
Scott Raines on the Strat learned a lot from the great Ed King. Scott has a lot of videos on UA-cam that he puts out showing on playing a number of Skynyrd songs. He's a good resource of information on how these songs are constructed.
@@geo2937 Ed King remains one of my faves to this day
Fantastic !!! Thank you so much !!! I feel sorry for the young people of today, they got no idea what great music is !!!
You guys sound amazing
Just saw him 2\8\24 great show! 🤙🏻

That was great. Good to catch up with what has gone on either Artimus. My 68 year old mother saw the LS tribute band with Johnny this past summer. . Good to see that Artimus is still into the music. ❤
Awesome job.
This man is my dad's age and I will cry when they both die. USMC for each of them
Great job Governor Huckabee! I've met Artimus and he is a real gentleman. Skynyrd is my all time favorite band and it was great to see and hear Artimus carrying on their legacy.

I feel very fortunate to have seen Lynyrd Skynyrd when Gary Rossington was still with them. What an amazing concert that was.
APB is a lot closer to the original band than The so called LSB but I love both groups and glad they both are keeping the music alive Long live both
I just went to the Lynyrd Skynyrd memorial yesterday. It’s a beautiful memorial!
