The Artimus Pyle Band performed at Saloon Studios Live on Saturday, Sept 21st. The terrific show honored the music of Ronnie Van Zant's Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Artimus is one of the most gracious men I’ve ever met. Much respect for the musicians he’s assembled to keep the music of Ronnie & LS alive for so many years. His “Artimus Venomous” album is pretty good too.
While not an original member, he was their drummer for the glory days and a survivor of the plane crash. Props to him for keeping this great music alive. In a way, he's the last man standing. At least we know they are a cover band. So is the Skynrd band

But I recently found that Artimus had a band going and I checked it out on You Tube. Thanks to Scott for sharing how to play this stuff. Keep it up guys!
There's a story that Artimus Pyle (back in the 70's) was about the only 'Skynyrd member who was not bullied by Ronnie Van Zant. And the reason was that Pyle was a former US Marine, who didn't take shit from nobody. He stood up against Ronnie, and that was the reason he also got respect from the hard leader. Even Ronnie would have had his ass whupped, ok? The lesson? Don't fuck with the Marines... I also think think Pyle did a great job with "One More From The Road"-album. Skillful drummer, for sure.
Just saw APB at the guard theater suck a great show kills it on the skins man! The guitar players keys just great musicians like that the guy didn't try to sing it like Ronnie but his voice fit perfectly! 🤘🏻🤙🏻

One of my favorite LS songs. This lineup is good but they need a real frontman like when Artimus was touring with Thane back in the mid-2000s. They also need the third guitarist and the background singers. With those additions, they would be better than Gary's current band.

That Skynyrd Drummer they have now is a good guy but has zero personality or charisma and moxy of Artimus Pyle. I get what you are saying but other than back up singers there were times that Skynyrd only had two guitarists before the late great Steve Gaines joined after the legendary Ed King had left. Also the keyboard player and singer is top-notch. Sounds more like Ronnie Van Zant than anyone else I have heard. Last, of all, they play the songs correctly, which is what Artimus says is most important to him. Good day, Mr. Preston, and Godspeed.

Great song!! Great band!! Great drummer!! The snare drum is too dry though. It needs a little bit more snare but other than that everything sounds great!!
