Kurt in fact did do that on purpose. If you look at the video of the full show, you can hear them joking around about "hollywood smoke" before starting the song and in that part Kurt is making lines up about "hollywood smoke" as he goes

I wouldn't doubt it, from everything Nirvana fans have learned over the years... he obviously didn't mind trying to enjoy himself when he felt the urge.
One of the best singer/song writers and musicians in general. His guitar wasn't as complex as shredding bands, but he used his guitar in amazing ways to emphasize the inflection of his voice.
In that way, his style was complicated and unpredictable... if Picasso had a guitar, his band would've been Nirvana.
A 3-piece band and they took it to the depths of what people could feel from their music.
Whatever happened to him... it was a shame.

I seen Corey Taylor live with Stone Sour years ago. He fucked up Through Glass but not by forgetting the lyrics, he was strumming the guitar and hit the wrong notes. Just like here, he didn’t try to play it off, he totally owned it and everyone immediately forgave him and laughed with him not at him. It was a great show.
