Doom, Diablo, Warframe...man, you just hit a few key buttons for me! Been a minute since you covered this, and it's looking better than it did last year.
I love to hear Ascent mentioned. That game is a gem! At least as far as art direction, world design, and just how it feels to be in it. A flavour of sci-fi cyberpunk that really goes down smooth and sophisticated. I even made a short video about it for my audience of nobody.
This game is kinda going a different approach with tuning the gameplay mechanics as a priority, which is clearly going well.
Yeah I agree, the Ascent was actual art. It's just such a shame it's effectively an abandoned game, left with game breaking bugs. My friends and I tried to co-op play it and 2 friends had their character saves wiped ....twice. And it's still not patched. Huge shame, because the game art, music and setting is amazing.
@@domm6812 ascent is **GORGEOUS** ... but also, it looks sooo much better than it plays, never actually had fun playing it, game feel wasn't really good and covering mechanics are just not fun in anything else than a few FPSs

Yeah right, the pricing is ridiculous. Won't buy it as long as there is no sale for at least 50% off.
The price tag is a bit on the high end for sure. Will wait for a sale too. Better be a deep sale too. 70% at the very least. This company likes to stomp its own toes.
Price is outrageous, the devs were posting about it on the Arpg subreddit last week. I told them that it's way too expensive, they dismissed me saying that they have marketed the game for the "right audience" then Said that arpgs cost more to make than roguelike/roguelites.
I don't expect this game to ever go on deep sale since the Devs have their heads deep, deep up their own ass.
The steam reviews all says it's way too much money for what you get. Steer clear unless you hate having money in your account

Well, I went to wishlist it, and holy moley, that price point is STEEP for an early access indie game. That is a gate that is going to stop a LOT of people.

I have been playing this game, basically since it came out, I now have 21 hours on it and it's a blast and if the upgrade from act 1 (which is already pretty solid) to act 2 (which I would go as far as to say is amazing) is anything to go about I'd say this is going to be absolute peak when the full release comes and I would absolutely suggest grabbing it, if not now, when 1.0 drops.
Another one with strong Project: Overkill and Crusader vibes. Good stuff. It's been on my wishlist for a while, but nice to see it making progress.
Ahh, Crusader my beloved. I still remember playing that in the arcade before getting a PC version.
I'd love you to do a yearly round up of games that left a mark. You have a unique perspective having played so many in a year compared to most of us, I would find it incredible valuable to know what games left a lasting impression amongst the sea of indies, especially as Indies games are a high bar right now.

I was literally thinking the last couple of days, that I wish there was a kind of action RPG that was futuristic instead of medieval fantasy, and here it is.

Been playing a lot of Diablo, POE and Last Epoch lately, and wanna try something different.
Its crazy how under- utilized that setting is. Sure, i love me some sword and sorcery but some scifi Arpgs should not be that hard right?

@@Xerachiel yeah, the same year it released. Played through the story. Huge 40k nerd. Should love that game but god damn it was horrible, so slow, boring and extremely repetitive. Both the Warhammer and wh40k aRPGs have been so bad, such s bummer!

I looked at the game on steam and....From what I have seen in the video, how the hell does it have only 64 reviews?! It looks so damn cool, certainly will add it to my wishlist and give it a go once I am done with V Rising.
Honestly we messed up the initial early access launch last year when we released the game prematurely without modding and shop system. People felt that the game is empty and there was an agressive review accusing us of being scammers and that was last nail in the coffin and halted our sales. We worked hard added missing features, doubled the content and now are really glad we've got another chance!

@@fett_420 It's not about forcing, it's about incentivizing people to support early access. The reason people are willing to risk buying an unfinished game is usually because they can get it at a lower price. If that's not the case, there's no reason not to wait until the full game release before spending their money.
@@fett_420 Mark already gave you a fitting answer, but another thing worth to mention is that the game released in October 23, over 6 months ago and according to SteamDB there was not a single sale, not even 10% off on Christmas, this tells a lot about the devs.
Furthermore there are no other ways to buy the game for Steam.

In the gaming industry, we almost always see a one-for-one conversion rate in prices between dollars and euros, so the concept of eurodollars seems relevant to me in this context. And Ô joie, there is an abbreviation for it. So I am actually surprised the expression is not more widely used in the media.

This looks great. I noticed the pricetag is pretty hefty so I won't get it yet, but when it's finished I'll definitely pick it up.
Not a lot of games you feature are in my wheelhouse. But the UA-camrs that do feature interesting games aren't entertaining like you

This looks a little like The Ascent. I still want that game too. Looks like a fun romp. The Steam reviews seem to suggest that the game needs more content and needs to be more fleshed out. I like the twin-stick gameplay style and the graphics do look nice. I'll have it wishlisted for later :)

A good idea is to put a mini hud above the head of PC, because those important hud in a corner on a big display is out of focus vision. Two thin stripes (as mana/health bars) as vertical side borders of your screen are very well visible with peripheral vision. I remember thinking about that while cursing at the smallest hud in "the ascent".
Like the indication of damage you deal is always displayed above their heads, but your HP bar stays in a corner and extra flashes when taking damage are a premium feature in next DLC.
Another advise I'd give to low level stylistic art games is to create a slider of color palett in the option menu. I already imagined how I'd change it in this title. And never forget to repeat, mono color icons are lazy and lame and a inshittification of the interface science, for daltonics/colorblind there should be a switch in the options menu.

I just got this game and it is a lot of fun. It can get boring fairly quickly due to the repetitiveness of the game but thats how these games are still fun though.
