-Character needs to inject serum every 5 minutes
-Can't pause the game
So what happens if you need to go to the bathroom? Or you get a phone call? Or someone knocks on your door? Not pausing the game when you open a menu is crazy.
Its a long standing tradition in PC gaming to have both a pause menu or function (usually associated with the letter "P"), and/or a escape menu (always on the button "Esc"), that only give you access to basic function (Save, load, start, restart, options, exit).
I haven't played the game (demo) but it >>should
-the timer pauses in camp
-you can stack the serum ie hit 2 and get 10min
-you can upgrade the serum to give you more time per hit
-you can save and exit the game at anytime
every single survival game I can think of.
@@Mourningstar-kc7ft Cool, now let me just pause the game if I have to get up for a second. It's basic QoL.
@@battleoid2411 I would assume that will be implemented with the next updates.. it was this way with Sengoku Dynasty, which could also not be paused when the first alpha came out. But now it can be paused at any time by entering the menu.. ;) PPL sometime seem to forget what "early access" means. cheers
Lack of a pause in a single player game is kinda unforgivable IMO. I am a home caregiver for family and I simply can't play games that I can't pause and walk away from with no notice. Thanks for the video though, it's an interesting looking game.
I had a similar complaint about Darkwood. It's 2024, and not everybody has big blocks of uninterrupted free time. Looks like a pretty cool game otherwise.
I love it. It's a fantastic immersive element that really adds to the game play. That being said it might be cool to update it with an optional pause for folks who don't appreciate that design decision.
@@joeyj6808 the great thing about how many thousands of games we have today. you have plenty to choose from. Its unfortunate but its also a good thing that there are different approaches to games.
@@gadblatz4841 just never use the pause function in any game and suddenly every game game can be this "immersive" 🤪
@@Mikee512 Right? There's literally no argument for why a singleplayer game should *NOT* have a pause. If you don't want a pause, simply don't pause. All this does is harm people who *need* a pause.
Man... Indie games are really coming along due to technology. What a time to be alive.
Think unreal5 helps and hurts
We might get pretty shovel ware
@@nicknevco215 We kind of got it here, the release just happened and the reviews are bad, mostly due to the game being really glitchy, lacking QOL and bad combat. Game needed to bake for a few month. Most of the reviews seems to think the game could be good in a few months,
As someone who was in no way a Justin Timberlake fan, that movie was way more interesting than I had expected.
You can probably handwave it on the basis of lack of tools; but they should probably either remove the wiring conduits from the gas station walls or make them a source of wire.
That's the tricky thing about scavenging; suddenly lots of things that are otherwise just environmental detail are now in-scope as mechanically relevant.
For this kind of thing is that the game industry invented the "yellow paint design". Lack of investement in consistent assets and mechanics. You could say that it was necessary 15 years ago, but with the technology that is running now, even for indie developers, that shouldn't be a thing anymore.
Also, the industry dared to blame the players for not understanding the inconsistencies and missing mechanics in their games.
Leading to a rather disappointing situation, speaking broadly, where you can only scavange from obviously copy-paste containers in environments clearly and obviously full of things you'd need (you need a bucket, but not the many buckets sitting around, or tools within easy reach you can't use, because only a tool in a container counts).
7 Days to Die actually does a pretty good job of this where everything in the environment, *and* the environment itself can be completely broken down.
I'd like for more games to incorperate having lots of things you can pull from the environment itself, an example in Condemmed are pipes and conduits still attached to the walls and infrastracture.
the timberfake movie was the 1st thing i thought of when you showed the wrist clock, cool concept tho
good movie too
I liked that movie. Twas clever and original
It's also a good analogy for how people will waste their lives (time) doing frivolous things to meearly survive rather than better their life.
They stole the idea from a classic sci/fi story, there was a lawsuit the author won.
Wasn't that a movie with Tom Cruise. Perhaps I'm remembering an older version.
Can’t believe you mentioned In Time, that’s honestly one of my favorite movies and never hear anyone talk about it
18;25 While you were talking about there being no indicator of damaging the wall, the wall was actually breaking apart at the edges, oh Splatttercat.
Also the game takes the 'yellow paint look at this' rather further.
"A tangle of colorful wires". Sounds like electronic wires but displays a neat loop of grey steel or iron wire. Some devs didn't connect there ^^; .
This game's timer premise reminded me of the movie Crank with Jason Statham. He gets injected with a poison that can only be held back by extreme amounts of adrenaline. Great action movie with some excellent humor.
So many comments about the movie In Time, but none of them explain how to break that wall with the use of a wall break serum.
Well it wasn't in the movie In Time so how are we meant to know? 😂 jk 😊
You just attack it. You can see in the video the wall texture change as he attacked it. Looks like he just needed another couple hits.
In Dying Light 2 as long as you are in the Sun Light and under UV Lights you can't "turn". If that is a function that has a timer upgrade along with safe zones in this game then ok i'm fine with it.
Actually in-time movie with Justin Timberlake was pretty good :) I mean the whole idea that now the time is the money (and literally everything, your life depends on it) was really good. And even if there was there no real money there were ... 0,1 % of super, ultra "rich" people and all the other were fighting for their lives.
That volumetric fog looks so good
The plotline of the post-apocalyptic science fiction film "Absolon," released in 2003, has many similarities with that of this computer game. I am certain that "Absolon" inspired the 2011 film "In Time," which you mentioned. All three of them have much in common. In the first film, the name of the fictional drug Absolon was likely chosen to reflect themes of sin, forgiveness, rebellion, and rage as expressed in the Biblical story of King David and his son Absalom. The analogy between life-saving or supposedly life-saving medicine and the quest for redemption from sin is evident. Furthermore, there tends to be an additional form of evil portrayed through conspirators, infected monsters, or those selling fake medicine and nonexistent means of escape. Here we see an allegorical expression of what happens when people surrender their souls to evil.
😴
Cool! Thanks for sharing!
For the breakable wall, it looked like the graphic was changing each time you hit it. Maybe it just needs multiple strikes.
I'm excited to see where this game will be in 6 months.
Since serum timer is paused, rather than regenerated, when at base is there anything stopping you from soft-locking if you get too low on serum ingredients? Do you get some free time when you die; so the worst case is just equivalent to getting killed by other means? Are basic serum ingredients deliberately abundant very near the base so that you would really need to be screwing up to be unable to keep yourself going in practice? Yes, actually you can softlock?
I'm a little surprised that you don't regenerate at least some time when at base(especially since the toxin remover machine means that even inefficient serums can be used freely). Not necessarily to maximum: getting very long endurance/resistance to extra-toxic fog seems like something that you'd need to craft; but it feels a little odd that rest and relaxation in a safe environment merely pauses you, rather than getting you up to a maximum of 5 minutes or something; with extra time being something you need to craft for.
hydroponics in the basement probably doesnt need seeds or stuff, just produce ingredients after a while
24:32 It looks like the toxin remover is supposed to reset the timer to 10 min, but is bugged or something. It rolled over to 2 min.
@@AtrakKarta Good catch, I thought it randomly jumps around like a roll of the dice, but it was definitely ticking up, but wrapped around 10 to 0
mate, keep doin the gods work!
The fact that this game jumped to the top of the list speaks to the appeal of this style of game. Some games have boring story. Survival crafting games can entertain me fiddling with my bedroll layout longer than most storylines
Man I love the theme of this. I've always been really into the whole Alchemy/Bio-Hacking theme, think it's really interesting.
That film was class btw
This has some interesting ideas. For when you get tired of playing Fallout.
The JT movie is called "In Time", I believe. Actually a pretty good one too. Interesting concept, that one. I'm not even a movie buff but go figure I know the oddball JT flick.
I saw "aspects" listed on the inventory cards of some of the ingredients: are those for flavor; or is there some sort of underlying alchemy-logic that governs what ingredients go into what serums/add what effects at work, rather than serums just having ingredient lists?
Man nothing says fun and enjoyable like a TIMER in a survival game.
Looks great but this is the kind of game that I would love to play with friends. Hope they add co op multiplayer
I really liked In Time. Olivia Wilde plays his mum and has Cillian Murphy in it too 😊
Not so sure I like the idea of constantly on the clock BUT have to admit, it's an original take on the Subnautica style obstacle to exploring, resource gathering and getting to your objectives. Instead of o2 it's time left on your serum. I'm just a weirdo that doesn't like games with a count down on the go unless they trick me into thinking "it's because character needs to breathe...not the same thing at all" 😂
'In Time' was the movie haha.
I remember that movie 😂
The visuals are really nice ; the graphics/environment reminds me of Mutant Year Zero...
Thanks for the fun. ^^
Hey now, "In Time" was a fantastic movie.
From what I have seen Toplitz is quite fast implementing new ideas and bug fixes. At least with Sengoku it was this way.. so there is hope ;)
1:43 The movie you're talking about is called "In Time". Its actually not a bad movie. I somehow came to own a DVD of that movie and wound up watching it a bunch of times back when I didnt have internet.
Not usually a fan of timers but this one would work quite well i think. Will have to keep an eye on this one
This looks like it could turn in to something great.
This looks amazing.
"In Time" was a good movie that had a good on-the-nose critique of capitalism. Not great, but I'd definitely watch it again.
"Butt let's crack straight on into it." yeah I see what you did there!
Looks promising, but: 1) the stuttering needs fixin', meaning some serious optimization; 2) QoL like that wall-breaking and dumping loot into a chest with one button must be fixed too. Will definitely give it a go when the EA releases.
I'm a simple man, I hear survival or card game mechanics and I tune out.
I have to admit, kinda the same as soon as I see "post apocalypse" in it's description. Kinda done to death at this point imo 🤗
Movie name is In Time and the concept behind it is awesome, and scarily real, though we don't just drop dead if we run out of money.
Was actually a cool movie
"Justin Timberlake Movie" yup first thing I thought of ngl
omg i know exactly what movie you're talking about lmao, i watched it as a teen with my sister and i had completely forgotten about it. I agree that aesthetically, it looks similar to the timer on this game! It looks good to me, though I'm not a fan of the look of the loot, all very similar-looking
This game radiates with potential the concept the world the animations for interacting with things the ambiance but its held back by where it suffers majorly the combat and lack of pause along with performance and clunky vibes like is just to important to let it be so lackluster it's like having the power of atlas and using it to hold a paper clip all the potential but needs to be applied a bit better in places
The movie is called In Time. Pretty good, i was thinking of it before you mentioned it. Similar color scheme too green with hints of yellow
I remember that Justin Timberlake movie 😁😁
Wasn't half bad actually
I love the setting though
Looks like scrap metal searchin' junkie simulator to me. But environment design is top notch (forest, grass - daym, I might even not need to go outside!)
Game does look good, its a game I would definitely love to play but I hope it gets better. I sure hope it has guns in this, if we're gonna stick to melee weapons in this kind of game, I probably won't even bother unless they incorporate stealth in this.
Splat complaining about the Wall Break not working as he takes a strong swing at the wall. Then fails to notice the texture change of the wall, the some parts of it missing after the swing.
In other words, the Wall Break is likely working, you jut need to hit it more.
I liked that movie.
btw I am also weak to piercing damage and actually all kinds of damage.
1:36 The movie it's called "In Time" and it's pretty good for its time :)
If it was good then, then it's good now, else it wasn't ever good to begin with.
Unless your referring to it being good for the time spent watching it rather than the age of the movie, then yeah, it was good for its time.
I see what you did there.
Like this most streamers just get cut down fast by combat
No way.... did you just really quoted the theme song by Justin and madona? "I only got 4 minutes"? Dude... I loved it. This video os hitting all kinds of spots.
16:15 My guess is that 'destroy obstacle' and 'destroy wall' is 2 different serum effects
18:30 Did you try Z like it shows in bottom right corner?
And i think it says there too that C changes active skills, so could be there (maybe you need to put it in the hot-slots or something)
Are you going to play Dustland when it's released?
time on watch, 4:20 blaze it
All that time stuff reminds me of the Movie "In Time" with Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried
Can you stack up your serum while in base and then use your blood filter machine to get rid of your toxicity before heading out?
Nah it resets you to 2 minutes if you do that
Am defo down for this like
I like the "alchemy" system the game has. I doubt that is what the game calls it, but it looks a lot like the alchemy system from Witcher 3. I always loved having Geralt look like a Sith, so I like that this game intends on using a system with a similar purpose.
its looking good!, but i would like the loot to look like fallout when its stuff you pick up from the floor
I played the demo when it came out, combat was.....well..meh. It was meh. And it was easier to die and use the machine in home base to fill the serum back up, than RUN BACK and BREW serum. I hope they fixed that.
from my understanding all X-punk is based off what the world runs on, Steampunk, cyberpunk whalepunk magipunk. generally a world built off the idea that everything runs on the x value and what sort of world that'd become. so since the game doesn run of rust but time could be timepunk? rusted out dead world is just post apocolyptic. Serumpunk as an extreme stretch maybe?
Haha I happen to have watched that Justin Timberlake movie (In Time) and loved it, actually!
First five seconds I seen of the video the Justin T movie pooped up from my random memory.
Jedi Survivor-itis.
Cute bunny!
Timer I actually enjoyed that movie ! 😂😂 😊
its not a woof, its a wolf, they go woof lmao
"In Time" was the name of the movie.
Is this Grandfather's garden? I wish developers would add a pause, fight music won't play every time we aggro an enemy.
Why dont you stack the serum timer in the base and then extract the toxins while youre there ?
timers as a main thing in a game are always a turn off for me
Exactly my thought. It discourages exploration and having fun. Its "ok" in a multiplayer game, but in a single player game it sucks ass.
Yeah. That’s a hard no for me.
If it's many days long like in Fallout 1 it's fine in my book but minutes? Bleh.
If you really think about it, though, any survival game with a food and health bar essentially has a timer this is just more direct.
Having to eat and shelter every once in a while is fine. You can still explore indefinitely while doing those. Other timers that just straight up forces you to continue progressing are annoying.
🖤
Are there any guns or crossbows etc. in this?
I see why the game has the reviews it has. Def needs to be improved. I think the foundation and premise is good, it's just the lack of polish that makes it a hard sell for most people.
It’s either my weak will or you costing me a lot of money. I love this content though !
Reminds me of Chernobylite. If they can polish it up and have it be less janky I think this could really be a big hit.
That movie with time was so weird.
Imagine going around and seeing a bunch of dead wolves with stab marks on their butts XD
You need to record in higher resolution for YT compression compensation.
I don't see how that would make any difference.
@@onieyoh9478the most important factor for image quality on streamed video content is the bitrate, and youtube unfortunately heavily limits its bitrate with 1080p videos. Lots of youtube channels upload 1440p or 4k videos that are actually just 1080p bilinear upscaled. The point of the upscale is not to make the image more crisp but rather to overcome the bitrate limit by "faking" the higher resolution.
@@onieyoh9478 And why don't you see any difference?
I see a BIG difference.
But then, I actually know what I am talking about and watch Splat on a 4K TV.
I like this cuz it takes open world survival in a new direction. It's friggin unique.
Any chance this has a co-op option?
Been trying to play on steam deck but it won't run. Hoping they make it functional on the deck.
This game is the antithesis of everything I look for in a game. No pause in singleplayer, constant time pressure and bleak, depressing atmosphere.
That being said, it looks like something I might watch being played on YT/Twitch.
i appreciate you acknowledging that its not a bad thing. Different approaches to games is a good thing for the consumer.
i wonder how they sleep if they need to grind to make the serum and need it every 5 minutes lol
@@alekpo2000 Your timer stops while you're in your base.
@@alekpo2000they don't which immediately stabs at your suspense of disbelief.
>Aggro music before you see the enemy
ugh.
Wishlisted anyway justin case they fix the concerns the other commenters mentioned.
I'll keep an eye out for this game. As of now, the combat seems stale, but everything else is interesting. I prefer characters in these games to be more agile; they aren't high-armor characters that move slowly.
Might be a good game and i love zombie/apocalypse games but we need to get a totally new scenario for games. We have had too much of a "good thing" for too long, change is needed.
"Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened."
That was a pretty cool premise for a movie! I'm thinking of push-your-luck roguelikes where your health is currency, and you want to stay close to 0 to min-max - this could be neat lore for that type of system.
Tne name of the movie is "Time out" I think
In-Time :)
@@Mambaru also, depending where you live
One thing that would really bother me is the way the player holds that spear in their left hand. An underarm hold just feels wrong when thrusting low toward that wolf.
Holding it underarm would be the superior way to do it as holding it over shoulder will greatly inhibit your ability to attack in any direction other than down.
I am looking for a survival game in first person with good combat and animations. Maybe is this
"Survival crafting" how many of these do we need?
yes
Yes
Yes
Yes
LOL Ikr
I can't stand crafting. I want more survival or post apoc games without any crafting or item bloat.
Generally there are 3 categories:
- Apocalyptic for when whatever happens happens right now.
- Post-Apocalyptic for when the downfall happened and the characters in the story have to deal with the direct aftermath.
- Post-Post-Apocalyptic for when enough time has passed and civilization has started to rebuild with the new status quo.
You missed apocolyptic wasteland but otherwise agree
@@kylemackinnon5696 That can be either Post-Apocalypse or Post-Post-Apocalypse. It's simply a question of "how long ago did the apocalypse happen" and "is civilization rebuilding itself yet?"
That would rely entirely on what your subjective concept of civilization is. Because if someone considers a unified tribal community like the American Indians to be a civilization then for them it's the people that make the civilization not the structures and as such their is no such thing as post-post-apocolypse.
That zombie healthbar was stupid big. Combat looks unappealing. I guess they've made everything take ages for the sake of adding tension.
ngl wallbreaker syndrome sounds dope
Concept seems interesting and the game looks nice, but the combat and traversal feel like a chore. Maybe it gets better as you get more powerful but that was my first impression.
You should definitely try Delta V: Rings of Saturn
Who? Splatt? He's done like 5-6 videos on it, the most recent one uploaded ~a month ago
He streamed it just last month, and the VoD is still available here: www.twitch.tv/videos/2123338750
