  • So someone called me out on the headliner in the 1988 Foxbody Cali Coupe. So I ordered up some Suede Headliner Fabric off of Amazon and some 3M Headliner/Fabric adhesive. Below are the link:

Good work! Seems like with a little time, ingenuity and common sense a person can do this successfully. 💯👊🏾

Just a small fyi (and by no means am I an expert) if you use a small bondo applicator or any small plastic thing with a flat edge it helps sticking down the headliner material versus using your hands. Also helps because there’s less of a chance to get glue on the nice side.
Iirc the reason why this happens is that the thin foam layer breaks down. Before applying the adhesive you should use a soft scrub brush and go over the cardboard side to remove any loose foam.
Still love your Reef Blue coupe. If you ever decide to hate it, I’d love to take care of it.

Turned out great Chris, I don't have a Foxbody but i think I am going to try this on my F150 headliner, I think if I follow what you did, it should work out good, Thanks bud.

Hey guys. What foxes came with vinyl headliner? I have a 93 gt with vinyl, cant find much info about it. Im wondering if the vinlyl can be repaired rather than replaced since its not felt.

If you can its always best to use a stiff bristle brush and remove the old foam and take the headliner back to cardboard. Otherwise the glue is essentially bonding to the old decaying foam which cause the original separation and why the previous 'fix' didn't work. It looks like most of it was gone in this case but if your concerned about longevity that's an important step worth the extra time. The time spent on doing this yourself is well spent. I'm not a fan of the LMR ABS versions. They don't have that corner seam and look floppy. Now you just need a crown royal bag shift boot and your fully Cali coupe golden... joking aside it looks good.

Ya the previous repair I think was from a shitty or improper adhesive.. it pretty much fell off... If the foam were bad it would have stuck to the material side and not the cardboard. If the old foam is flaking off then yes I agree 💯!

Yup, I used 100 grit on an orbital sander to knock the old foam down and clean it up before doing mine

It’d be nice to do the pillers too like our M5’s have.

Looks nice! I have to do mine because it's bad. I almost bought one but it's definitely cheaper just to do it yourself. I need to replace the foam also. Do you have a recommendation on the foam? Also I have never heard it being the penis light lol I always called it the dope scope 😆

Would it still look good if I take off the old padding off the board and just use the padded headliner?
